Impressive Premium Punta Cana: It s a beautiful resort

The food a la carte was exceptional . Buffets were good. Room service was ok .. it’s a busy place , people are kind and helpful .. on one evening there was a putrid ( sewer smell ALL EVENING ) and with the heat it made it even more strong ..no explanation for that ..

Playabachata Hotel: Could be better!

The beach is good , but not everyone has enough sun loungers, many are broken. The food is excellent, but the service is poor - you can wait for hours for a waiter with coffee, the reception staff do not want to solve the problems of guests. There was no electricity and hot water in the room for two days. We vacationed here in January 2024 and were disappointed

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Middle of the road resort.

Top notch were the employees, especially the lady that looked after our room. The grounds were in great shape and the bread was great at the buffet. The food otherwise was very average except for the A La Carte Asian which was very nice. There was something else wrong with the food as one person thought they had food poisoning in our group (there were 12 of us) and the rest claimed to have gastrointestinal problems except for myself. Other downfalls at the resort were the safes for the rooms (most rooms did not have a working safe and were never repaired during our stay) and no deadbolt for your room door and in the case of my son's room, the handle came off inside his room. We paid for the Superior room and were surprised there was no chair in the room and 2 beds pushed together to make one. At the beach....very small and a continuous influx of people selling their trinkets or services. The resort also has too few chairs at the beach. I was witness to two women having a tug of war with a beach chair to try and determine ownership. The good part of this is the people that work at the beach will take away the blue towels from a chair if they are left unattended for too long. If you choose to argue then security is called in. Do I recommend this hotel as the next question asks....maybe. I will say no for now and you can be the judge.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Great bang for your buck!

We were nervous due to the many reviews that were all o we the place. But we were very happy at El Beso. The location was great. Not near the airport that you see and hear planes all day but not a three hour drive after the flight after. The beach was gorgeous even though the employees kept saying it was an Atlantic beach not the Caribbean white sands everyone is looking for. I still enjoyed it. But there is rocky areas. There are vendors that walk around on the beach trying to sell photos with pets, jewelry, hair braids, etc. but they were not too pushy so it was not a hassle. The food was fantastic at each of the restaurants. We did not get to go to the Sakura or Steakhouse. Those two were booked out by privilege guests all week. But I do not feel like I missed out because the food was great everywhere else. Even the buffet. The rooms were clean and cool. Some in my party may have found it too cold but they got extra blankets for their bed. We did find the rooms to smell a tad musty it mold like. I had read a bunch of reviews about this before my trip so I brought essential oils which was the world of difference. When you have humidity all the time, I can understand it smelling like this. Easy fix. The lazy river with the drive thru bar was my favourite part of the trip. Shade, drinks, and cool water to keep you cool. Great spot to enjoy your days.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Awesome stay at the Bahia Principe!!!

Awesome stay at the Bahia Principe El Portillo! My husband and I traveled with another couple. They honoured our request to stay in the same building block. The entertainment team was amazing - always looking to make the guests laugh and brought positive energy. The fitness (e.g., water aerobics, yoga) classes were great! The beach is absolutely beautiful - very clean and private. The pool is awesome - never feels crowded and just the right temperature. We also really enjoyed the food - even the [... read more] buffet had a nice selection! The rooms are dated but clean and we spent most of the time outside of the rooms anyway. Overall, awesome value for your money!!

Riu Bambu: Amazing resort!

Don't try and pet the black and white cat. It will bite you but we had an amazing time there! It is a big resort and we were surprised by that but the food is excellent for the Dominican! I would not recommend if you have walking issues because there is a lot of walking.

Impressive Premium Punta Cana: Beautiful resort

Excellent food, staff were amazing! Butler / concierge never reached out moved, very disappointed with Ernesto! Beach was very dirty on the first morning and then cleaner. Pools were great! Activities were good. Nonetheless we had an amazing vacation ?

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Fun vacation for kids

The resort is aimed towards families and children. The water park is fun for little and big kids. Food was decent and room was very clean. We had a fun time. The staff was mostly good, some instances where a drink was requested and we never saw that server again. The only problems we had were with the Sunwing representatives. If not for that, I would give a 10/10 but unfortunately Sunwing has left a very negative impression. We will not travel with Sunwing again.

Playabachata Hotel: Decent resort

Me & my partner came to playabachata & we were disappointed in the customer service we received, the front staff is somewhat helpful, the rules for the buffet are ridiculous, you were not allowed to wear a tank top in the buffet..WE ARE IN A TROPICAL PLACE & it was a help yourself style so why that was even a rule was just stupid, Meanwhile other men & women were wearing tank tops and were allowed in, discrimination at its finest for being gay, when I confronted the lady at the buffet she prete [... read more]nded to not speak English prior to speaking English to me just a few minutes before, power was constantly going out, bar staff made me feel extremely uncomfortable staring and whispering and laughing while pointing at me & my partner, staff wasn’t willing to take us seriously when we filed a complaint and Instead of getting management to come speak to us they made us go find them, which we never were able to because any staff that we asked for help didn’t speak English, staff wouldn’t restock stuff in our room unless you left a tip (which we did most days but on the days we didn’t they didn’t give us anything, just a made bed) they didn’t sweep or actually clean anything, just made the bed with the sheets we were sleeping in all week, there were stains on my pillow case, bathtub paint was chipping and coming off on our feet, they tell us that the coffee shop & pizza place are included in our stay, but there are certain things on the menu that only senator people can have in the coffee shop, although the night staff gave us whatever we wanted, the lady who works in the morning is miserable & they need an attitude check and also need to learn to smile and say have a great day, not say “that coffee is only for senator, next” and then proceeds to ignore you when you ask for something else, although I was able to get caramel machiatto’s during the day so the lady doesn’t even know her own menu, because those drinks were for only senator as well LOL. Beach was pretty. Excursion’s were fun!, drinks were way too strong, A/C BARELY works in the room, buffet was okay for the most part, I suggest you bring your own ketchup because they rarely have it available. I’d give this resort a 3 out of 5 stars, 4 stars is extremely generous. Wifi only works in the lobby and that’s rare as well…they played the same music for a week straight no variety at all, it took three calls for them to finally fix the leaking faucet under our bathroom sink, room smelt very musky and moldy, last two days of our trip, my throat hurt & my breathing was off (I believe due to the mold in the room) We will come back to the Dominican but definitely not this resort.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Great Staff

First visit to the this hotel - stayed in Adult Club section. Had a wonderful trip: All staff, were amazing, friendly and efficient. They also assign a concierge/butler (download WhatsApp to communicate with them) they are your go to for any issues, information, or assistance with booking (restaurants or golf for example) ours was a star! Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Food was disappointing

I went with my parents for ten days for Christmas break. The resort was very busy just because it was winter break (lots of little, little kids) The beach was nice and the pools were ok, but very cold!! The food at the buffet was really bad - nothing was hot or fresh and there was very little variety. The restaurants were good, but there was usually a 45 min to an hour wait to get in to them. Service was excellent for the most part - especially the service at the pool. The New Years Eve party was a lot of fun as well as the dance party at the beach. Room service was ok, but we had to get the majority of our bottled water from the gym because our fridges were rarely restocked. The grounds were nice and lush and quite beautiful all lit up in the evenings. The loungers at the pool and beach were super hard to get unless you got up at 5am. Perhaps it was because the resort was at full capacity?? If it weren't for the food, our family would probably return, but we love to eat and the food was a 3 star at best.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Awesome place

We had perfect weather, which makes the vacation. The food was very good , cannot complain! Entertainment was awesome! Grounds were clean ! Was nice to see some ducks n ducklings, fish in the pond , turtles. They have mesh so the birds can’t get in to the buffet area, which was nice to see. Some birds were smart enough to get in tho! ? weird set up for the bathroom, (shower n toilet) very tight. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: My favorite

I recently returned from The Gran Ventana Resort in Puerto Plata. Having been to this resort a dozen times, I was not surprised that everything was fantastic. Great food, staff, weather, cleanliness and all round bang for your buck. Walking distance to golf course. During my stay I tripped on the stairs and hit my head. They immediately took me to the emergency centre a mere 100 meters from the resort. Staff stayed with me the entire time. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Beautiful Reairt

Beautiful resort,grounds are stunning, staff very friendly and accommodating. Things they could improve on a few things. The alacart restaurant needs proper steak knives. Bedside lamps to read by.More seating in lobby and lobby bar.More lounches around the pool and beach.we throughly enjoyed our stay??

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: The perfect vacation

Bahia Principe Grand El Portillo was the perfect vacation for my group! The food was fantastic with endless selection (including lots of bacon), grounds were beautiful, entertainment team was fun and lively, and we had a fantastic time throughout! There was always something to do or explore, and the value is amazing! I will return to this resort in the future and look forward to visiting other Bahia Principe resorts as a result of my positive experience here!

Paradisus Grand Cana: Never again

We had a nice time until two things happened. The hotel went from 25% capacity to 100% capacity overnight. They had 1500 Jewish families all arrive at the same time. The group had their own wifi, the shut down the buffet to regular guests to accommodate their kosher diet, there was no longer a place to sit by the pool or beach. A lot of the times there was not adequate supervision for the kids. The kids were seen vomiting and pooping in the pools. Anyone that is a parent who has two young kids with a stomach bug knows how difficult it is to function and parent at the same time. I just don’t understand why the resort wouldn’t have just shut down entirely to accommodate the large group. Unfortunately this will be our last visit to this hotel along with all other hotels affiliated.

Playabachata Hotel: Playabachata Resort DR

This is older hotel but generally well maintained. The selling point is a beautiful beach. Plenty of space for everyone launch chairs you do not have to fight for. There are palm trees and other trees, so you can choose if you want full sun, semi-shade or shade. If you like walks on the beach, there is a nice stretch to enjoy. Food not super but there is always something to choose from. Reception staff not very friendly, some of them pretend not to see you. some of them are not very nice in their opinions about the guests, not being aware that some of the guests do speak fluent Spanish even if it is their not native language. Some of the comments were absolutely inappropriate, lucky for the reception staff they were not addressed towards me or my daughter. Sunwing representative looked like he did not want to be there and was not helpful at all, he was even trying to lie to me that DR no longer offer online check up, instead explaining that hotel internet is to weak to open the page. But ask guys from the guests services, they will help you, they are very nice and helpful. Also Paula, manager of guest services, super friendly and helpful. This resort seems like a party place, so if you are planning to sleep at night ask for a room far from the party center. The store at the resort is heavily overpriced. And one more thing, this resort's currency exchange from US dollar to Canadian is 1.75!!!! so get your US dollars before you will come, because you will look at the huge surprise. Actually not just the hotel, as at the airport you either pay departure tax of $US 20 or $CAN35, do it is DR exchange rate I bought the trip for a good price last minute and it was worth the price. If I will get similar deal, I would come back again

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: General service is too bad but VIP service is good

One major problem of the hotel is, only 1 hour free wifi each day. Evwn for lifestyle vip members, wifi is available only on the VIP areas and the beach. This is a major communication issue in the resort. The general service is very bad. Rooms are small, bathroom door broken, beds are too small, etc. But when we bought the package from lifestyle, the services were good. But this package is not at all cheap.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Not great

Not enough music Latino rooms were never clean. People are very rude. Food wasn’t the greatest. The pools in the beach was beautiful. The à la cart was very good. Every place sports bar was terrible very rude people. The entertainment was good. The resort was very beautiful not enough entertainment too much harassing And people should be more welcoming

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Will go back.

Resort has thousands of employees tending to cleaning and maintenance. Last trip there I fell in love with the chocolate donuts and wrote about it. I think too many people are eating them and now they seem to run out. We go there for golf and the beach. Both are excellent. The beach is a 2.6 km if you walk it back and forth. Beautiful. The golf course has extremely challenging holes with the last three on each nine dealing with trade winds, water and length. We upgraded to premium whic [... read more]h gets access to a different spot for breakfast and lunches where to service is excellent and the menu is upgraded. I actually had Filet Mignon for lunch one day. The spa is neat too with very spa type toys... Hot and cold plunge pools. Saunas, steam baths etc. less populated. It's one of the best and probably the biggest resort on the island...lots of loungers on the beach and the gym is adequate We've been to Dominican Republic a dozen times at least and even after twice we'd still go back.There are good and much more thorough tours on line. But go here you'll be getting good value for your money.
