Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Mediocre situation

Total: 1/5 stars 4/5 stars Being part of a resort complex, Akumal offers access to 3 other resorts' restaurants and facilities (Coba, Tulum, Sian Khan). This means more options for a la carte dinners, with great to excellent food/menu. 0/5 stars It also means that 2 of those extra resorts are crowding in Akumal's beach side lounge chairs, making it really hard to find a sun bathing spot. 0/5 stars All food and drinks have tons of sugar in them (sugar cane based), obviously targeting  [... read more]the US tourist. It's insanely hard to find any non-sweet cocktail, and good luck finding tacos at the breakfast/lunch buffets. 0/5 stars Spa appointments are hit or miss, the app based scheduling is horrible (applies to restaurants too), check-in took 1 hour without taking into account the line-up, and even then it was incomplete. WiFi access was not enabled, so we had to go back in line a 2nd time.

El Dorado Royale: Great Resort

The resort is great. The location is okay. Just a short distance to Play Del Carmen or Cancun if you need to go shopping. The resort is safe, very clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and ready to help when you need it. The room was spacious, clean and tidy. The room service is 24/7. We got a garden view and did not regret about. The drinks are good. The food could be a bit better, but this is very subjective. My wife got poisoned at an Asian restaurant as sushi is not sushi, b [... read more]ut something that shouldn't be never served/taken. The beach is small (open for swimming) but comfortable. The resort's territory is big enough if you like to walk. Entertainment every night.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Wonderful New Year's Vacation

For New Year's Eve 2022, my wife and I took two of our adult daughters and our son-in-law to El Dorado Seaside Suites Infinity. It was our 3rd time at the resort and everyone else's first time. We had a fabulous vacation! Our daughters had two poolside swim up rooms (ground floor). We had a 3rd floor infinity "swim up". Accessibility: One daughter uses mobility devices to get around. We rented a GoChair from PlayaMobility (in Playa del Carmen), and brought her walker and canes. The resor [... read more]t isn't quite accessible by Canadian standards - there are "little" steps up and down all over the place. However, a ramp was placed in front of her room for the week, and most of the restaurants had a ramp to help with any steps. The staff and guests were willing to help ease the GoChair in/out on the handful of occasions that she required assistance. Ultimately, she was able to get in and out of the pool daily and visit the beach (with family assistance). And, to explore independently. Meals: El Dorado Seaside Suites is a gourmet inclusive resort. Every meal was delicious. The dinners being the most elaborate, elegant and unique in terms of culinary experience. It seemed like every meal was better than the previous - nightly we were proclaiming "best meal ever!" only for it to be outdone the next evening. Our favourite restaurants were the Culinarium (fusion), Carreta (Mexican), Mia Casa Dorado (Italian) and Klay Talay (Asian). COVID Protocols: ALL STAFF were masked at ALL TIMES. Our rooms were cleaned daily and were spotless. There is a nightly turn down service. Guests are asked to wear masks on the transportation (stretch golf carts) and in the common areas. Most guest complied, but not all (such are the times). In your room, on the beach / loungers / Bali beds, pool or swim up bar masks were off. Our concierge arrange for private COVID tests in our rooms ($100USD) 2 days prior to departure. It was professional, convenient, quick and we had the results (5x NEGATIVE) within about 12 hours. So, it's definitely possible for 5 fully vaccinated adults to vacation for a week and remain healthy. (As confirmed by random testing upon return to Canada.) Rooms: All the rooms were magnificent and accessible once inside. The bathrooms were spacious - jetted tub, separate shower, separate water closet. and double sinks. All of which are good for a marriage. Our only regret was not getting a poolside room like our daughters. The higher floor provided a more spectacular view and privacy. But, the Infinity "River" was COLD, while the main pool was relatively warm. But, in the end we prefer to swim instead of wade. Other: The El Dorado team "bent over backwards" to provide a great stay for our family. All servers were courteous, warm and professional. We'll be back.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Awesome resort! Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful time at this resort. The place is spotless clean, the staff is really nice, and the food is amazing at the buffet and restaurants. My only critiques would be in terms of table service at the buffet in late meal times (ie: lunch at 3pm instead of at 12pm). It seems waiters get tired by then and start not replacing cutlery and cleaning tables and take a while to bring drinks. I would suggest also colouring sitting spots somewhat. Highly recommend overall!

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Christmas and NYE at ElDorado

Stayed at ElDorado Seaside for Christmas and NYE. There were theme events and big parties on 25th and 31st of Dec. Fire show from Cancun was visiting one day. Hotel has two lobbys. I was staying close to the beach. Room was spacious and clean. Maid service was prompt and at the highest standard. Hotel has clean beach with shallow water and pools. There were plenty of restaurants at the resort with decent selection of food. Pcr test for travelling is available at the hotel. El Dorado Seaside Palms: Great Vacation

Exceeded expectations: people, food, bar, pool. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating and goes out of their way to make you feel at home. A special thanks to our concierge, Stephan... he was amazing. Yes, we had to get Covid Tests which costs about $130 US, but that went very smoothly.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Superbly high standards

The resort exceeded our expectations on many levels; the service was exceptional, with bartenders and waiters who were willing to accommodate all our needs -- we saw amazing shows, from traditional Mexican music to the Nutcracker ballet -- to facilities and conveniences that we didn't even expect, like free catamaran sailing, champagne cocktails, incredible steakhouse and seafood meals, and more. Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Awesome resort

The grounds at this resort were really breathtaking. Suspended bridges, beautiful fauna, aqua color water. Food ok, service ok but found there is a language barrier. The restaurants were a unique experience . I highly recommend them.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Loved the resort!! Spectacular!!

The resort was perfect! Beautiful rooms, lovely swim up pool. Amenities and service were excellent! Only drawback was that the buffet closed at 6 pm. Super clean didn’t feel concerned at all about Covid. Lovely pools and lots of spots to enjoy the beach. Would definitely go back!

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: Great resort and staff and food!

The resort was great! Was at full capacity at holiday time. It was busy, staff all were safe and followed mask protocols. Place was clean and well staffed. Tough at times to make reservations for shows and dinners, they were generally full by the time we wanted to book. Service was great everywhere!

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Very disappointing Resort, I would not recommend.

Dec 21-29th-First rooms: 1108 &1110- there was no air conditioning and hot water at all first night. Rooms were VERY run down, like a cheap motel.Next morning switched rooms to 126 and 228, near parking lot. Doors were scratched up and beaten up, no added security latch on door. Every night people were swearing and banging on doors, waking guests up. Couldn't get reservations for a single A la Carte until our 6th night, the young man who made bookings was VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL TO ALL GU [... read more]ESTS who requested an la carte. Grounds were clean, buffet was basic. This was a very disappointing Resort and I strongly advise Trip Central and Air Transat to not recommend this resort to anyone

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great resort

The hotel was clean (5/5), friendly and helpful staff (5/5/) buffet was fantastic and inviting with tasty and verity of selection, meat, fish, veggies and fruit (5/5). my biggest complain was the music and entertainment it was a HUGE Disappointment (0/5). Another low point was the Transat Agent on the site, SHE WAS JUST NASTY

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Terrible experience with resort food!

Our 3-year-old daughter contracted salmonella on the day three of our trip and got very ill. We suspect it was by eating apples and pears at the buffet or the beach. The staff at the front desk were not friendly when we needed them the most and overall our experience wasn’t the best.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Great rest and relaxation resort!

We spent a week (Dec 14 - 21) at the El Dorado Seaside Palms for some R&R and escape from life. This resort is a great place for doing just that with an amazing beach and tall palm trees throughout the resort. The resort does a great job making their resort feel like a magical place. The food was amazing and we would like to especially highlight the food at La Carretta, which was absolutely amazing and represents the flavours of Mexico especially well. The tacos, stuffed peppers and mole dishes are a must eat, and be sure to have some churros and flavoured coffee to end your meal. The beach BBQ was a great place to have breakfast and lunch, as there is nothing better than eating on the beach! There weren't many negatives to our stay, however we need to mention a few things so future guests are aware of what to expect. First, upon entering the ocean from the beach area, there are many rocks and corals in the sand, so be careful when walking around in the water. Second, the room decor in our suite was from the late 90's and felt a bit dated, though this should was fine as we did not spend our time hanging out in the room apart from the end of the day. And lastly, when walking around the resort, the mangrove forest areas towards the back of the premium suites can have pretty strong smell from the stagnant water. This resort was an absolute dream and perfect for those looking for a quiet retreat from the ordinary. Enjoy some lime margaritas on the beach while suntanning. Sit on the swings over the water or spend the day on the bali beds (get there early to get one!) while drinking cheladas. Or lay on a hammock with a book watching the sunset. This resort is truly a hidden gem.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Fantastic resort!

We loved our stay here. The staff and service were wonderful. Lots of things to do...or not and the food was fantastic. Resort is well maintained and the staff work extremely hard. Very pleasurable experience...even better the second time around!

First time we’ve been to a resort, first time in Riviera Maya, and we loved it. The resort is incredible, the service is amazing and our experience was so fantastic. I would definitely return to this area.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Not the resort t once was

The grounds are beautiful and pools are great but the service has gone downhill as well as the food. The concierge are more concerned about getting you to take a tour to purchase then doing their jobs. Several people complained about getting flu like symptoms either from the food or just going around the resort. Rooms are not cleaned everyday and you have to call the desk for towels if your room was missed. Just a disappointment from the previous times at this resort. Fabulous resort with exceptional service Stayed in the Jr Penthouse Suite - AMAZING! Good choice of foods at the buffet restaurant Always had available clean towels & lounge chairs at the beach/pool. My husband and I will definitely return

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Paradise in the Mayan Riviera

My wife and I visited the Riu Palace Riviera Maya from December 4-18. The staff were extremely accommodating, the rooms were spotless thank you Silvia. Eddy at the front door was so welcoming upon arrival and courteous upon departure. Our beach server Enrique was so unbelievable, he was absolutely fantastic, he worked 6 days a week and he made sure that my wife and I had cold drinks every day all day. Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort

This resort was excellent, the staff were friendly and happy to see you. Have to mention the conceirge attendance Diego, Ice and Romeo were specially attentive and took care of our needs on the spot. We really enjoyed our time there.
