NYX Hotel Cancun: Great
Food, drink, service, pool and beach area exceptional ?
All the restaurant were great.
On the negative side, if you reserve a regular room, well it’s a flip of a coin, we where 3 couple, some got a decent room, some got a pretty weird room, like no doors for the bathroom, some rooms are in a kind of basement. When you check inn to the resort, they offer you a bunch of upgrade for the rooms, now we understand ?
But even with the rooms situation, this resort is still one of the best I’ve been t[... read more]o, and the room were very clean and the price was great.
Thanks to the great staffs for a great time. We would go back for sure with a little upgrade for the rooms.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Amazing Resort
Our stay was going exceptionally well until an unfortunate incident occurred: my children accidentally broke the TV in our room. The hotel charged me $800 for a replacement 45-inch non-smart TV, which, upon research, I found could be purchased for around $300. I expressed my concerns about this discrepancy and requested to discuss the matter with the manager. Regrettably, the managers did not make themselves available to meet with me. This experience left me feeling let down by the management's [... read more]handling of the situation

Iberostar Selection Cancun: Beautiful resort
This was a beautiful resort and the food was amazing. The rooms were fairly clean but think the cleaners rush way too quickly. We were there for 14 days and never used the hot tub outside on our balcony until day 8 or 9. We had to ask the cleaning staff to remove the leaves and the dirt and clean the table on the patio. The air conditioner shut down on us one night, (waited for someone to show up but no one did). It broke down on us 3 times at night and so we were nervous to adjust the tempera[... read more]ture. The water station for filling up our water was broken mid way through our trip. I asked for more water one day and they said they’d bring me some but none. We loved the ocean view but found we were hardly in the room long enough to enjoy it. We had three hot tubs with our grandson and he loved it. I don’t know what prices are for a room that doesn’t have a patio but our room was extremely expensive for not using it for much but sleeping and no air conditioning those nights.

Secrets Huatulco: Excellent value for money
We absolutely loved our trip to Secrets Huatulco. The king room with a jacuzzi on the patio overlooking the ocean was lovely. The room was clean, modern and spacious. The beach and ocean were pristine. The different pools were a lot of fun. The friendliness of the staff and the service provided were top-notch. The view from the upper level of the property was spectacular. We watched the sunrise on the treadmill from the gym too. We enjoyed breakfast at the Market cafe daily, coffee from Coco, an[... read more]d surprisingly room service was excellent. The Barefoot grill also had great fresh food for lunch. However, unfortunately, the food at the restaurants for dinner was edible/average at best. Dinners really were the only downside at this resort as everything else was excellent. I cannot say enough about the friendliness of the staff and the wonderful conversations we had throughout our stay. Also, the staff running the outdoor activities, kayaking, paddleboarding, volleyball, and archery were super fun. In addition, going into town was safe and easy and highly recommended. This resort is excellent value for money and would recommend it.

Riu Cancun: fantastic overall resort!
Great location, 20mins from airport, 15 floors, 3 mins walk to pool and beach from lobby. Very clean, well maintained, all rooms are great and all face the ocean. Every buffet and other specialty restaurants had great delicious food choices. The Beach was like powdered sugar, Crystal clear waters and no seaweed or bugs. Some cons are the beach is full sun, no shade until 3pm or so when the sun goes behind the hotel. The gym is really small and not many choices for weights, but we managed. 1[... read more]0 mins walk to the ferry if you wish to go to Isla Mujeres, bus stops are really close and there are many markets for shopping. Lastly there is a free shuttle to another RIU 10 mins away (or walk the beach for an hour) for great parties. Loved the resort! Will definitely return with more friends.....

Krystal Puerto Vallarta: Cute, friendly hotel in the perfect location - also great for people with food allergies/sensitivities!
My partner and I recently stayed at the Krystal Vallarta during our first trip to Mexico. The hotel is in an excellent location, being right on the water and fairly close to downtown and the Zona Romantica. The room we had (in the tower) was far nicer than I would have expected for the price we paid - it was very modern, clean, and had a spectacular view of the grounds and ocean! It actually took my breath away when we first walked in. The bathroom had a beautifully tiled walk in shower and the [... read more]bed was comfortable. The sound proofing in the rooms is a bit lacking as others have noted, but was not really an issue - the quality of the room otherwise definitely made up for that. Just bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
The hotel grounds are cute and well taken care of, and the staff were super friendly. The pools were lovely and the beachside drinks were better than other places I have visited, and everything was made with care. It was busy at the main pool and hard to get a chair, but there were spaces at the second pool where it was much quieter overall. This did not bother us much at all anyway as we spent so much time in the city! There is a bus stop right outside the Krystal with city buses going by almost constantly, and for 10 pesos you can easily get downtown once you figure out which buses to flag down lol. It is about a 15-20 minute ride (very approximate, it's hard to keep of track of time when there's so much to see!) and is definitely worth the adventure. The Krystal is in such an excellent location because of this, I would stay there again for that aspect alone.
In terms of food, I personally thought the food was excellent. We ate most of our meals in the main dining room when we were on the resort; there is another dining area closer to the beach however we did not eat there much as the hours were a little sporadic. That would be the only "complaint" I would have about the food, but again, if you can go with the flow it's not really an issue as the main dining room was beautiful. There was a great selection of what I came to learn is quite traditional Mexican food (eg. Chillaquiles for breakfast, which are my new love in life), various meat and vegetable and bean dishes, fresh juices, soups, etc. To be fair this was my first time in Mexico so my ability to compare food with other places is a bit limited, however I am a bit of foodie in general and thought it was all delicious! Every dish was full of flavour and not too spicy, and for those who love spicy food like myself there was always a variety of extra "sauce piquantes" to add on. There was also a selection of more western cuisine (e.g. an omelet station in the morning, french toast/pancakes, cereal, pasta dishes) at every meal. I did not eat much of this myself but my boyfriend did and thought it was very good. I have read a few comments from people about the food and I am not sure if they stayed at the Vallarta on a bad week, or perhaps were expected more of a western/European menu. For myself, I loved that there was such a focus on food traditional to the area given that we were in Mexico for a reason, and not back home in Canada. I hope that the Krystal Vallarta continues provide such a regional cuisine as it really did add to our stay and overall cultural experience.
The other aspect of the food that I genuinely appreciated is how responsive the staff were to my questions about ingredients, as I have several severe food allergies. Knowing this might be an issue (given one of my allergies is shellfish, sadly!) I wrote out a list of allergens in Spanish, using Google Translate, and showed it to a front desk agent at the hotel. He read it and said the translations made sense, and told me to show it to the people in the restaurants. I talked to the dining room staff several times and asked them about ingredients and showed them my list, and they went through each dish with me, and if they were not sure went and brought one of the cooks out even when it was very busy. I honestly don't think I've had that level of assistance anywhere before, and it really was a huge relief!
Overall, my partner and I really enjoyed our stay at the Krystal Vallarta and would absolutely stay there again. While some of the hotel staff we had interactions with did not speak much English they were very helpful and friendly, and we are able to make it work with even our limited Spanish and the occasional help of Google Translate. I think we did get a very good deal when we booked our all-inclusive packages, and for us the value was definitely there in terms of price/cost and the quality of our stay. It is a cute, comfortable hotel that is very welcoming and family oriented. That was perfect for us, and with the price we paid we did not feel compelled to stay at the resort all day to "get our monies worth", so to say, which allowed us to get out and explore the rest of the city and surrounding area, which is amazing! The Krystal was a great "landing place" in this sense, especially for travelers new to the city and to Mexico in general. I was sad to leave and we are already looking forward to our next trip!

Grand Palladium Colonial: Grand palladium Colonial
We booked through Trip Central, flew with Westjet and had a semi private transfer from Cancun Airport...
The GP resort is amazing built among the mangroves, giving it a wonderful ambiance of nature. Lots of wildlife, from the flamingos greetings every morning, the shy agouti and the adventures of the coutimondi.
Our room was dated, however it was kept spotless by our attend Angeles. We always had no less than four towels and washcloths.
The entire staff were friendly and very accommodati[... read more]ng. Booking ala carte restaurants was easy with Christian and Nora.
We never had to reserve a lounge or a palapa at the White Sands pool or on the beach.
We also enjoyed the watersports, kayaking and peddle boats, it was often " red flag" due to high winds, the beach however had very little seaweed and was totally walkable.
Did I mention how great the staff was...this is one resort we would definitely return to.

The RIU Cancun met all our expectations. Perfect location about 20 min from the airport. Small but pristine beach with perfect sand and water (no seaweed or rocks). Hotel atmosphere was bang on. Staff incredible and very helpful, we needed blankets and an AC fix and both were immediate. Food was so good with amazing buffet options and the drinks were perfect. Barcelo Maya Tropical: Pleasant stay at Barceló Maya Tropical
We are two couples who stayed at the Barcelo Maya Tropical for two weeks in February. We enjoyed the variety and quality of the food at both the buffet restaurants and the a la cartes, although it was difficult getting reservations at the latter for the first few days. However some of the drinks at the pool bar were poor quality. The rooms we had were spacious and clean and the grounds very well maintained. We made extensive use of the massive fitness facility. The beach is nice although somewha[... read more]t rocky in spots. The pools are huge and for the little ones, the water parks looked well designed. Even though the resort is very large we found it easy to navigate and get around to the restaurants located throughout the complex. We found the staff very friendly overall. Decameron Isla Coral: I’m sorry but people need to know.how bad it really is
I’m sorry but people need to know
This “resort” is pure garbage , if you are considering going there DO NOT GO
Bed bugs (two separate nights ) and no other room was offered to move too they simply shrugged their shoulders like it was normal .
Brand new clothing items disappeared from my room mysteriously , and when I suggested maybe it got caught up in the bedsheets for cleaning they just no ,
The food is the other resorts leftover I’m sure of it
But if you like all your food served from [... read more]soup lidl
And the “meat “ cooked so long it’s almost dusty this might be the place for you .
They said it was in Puerto Vallarta when I booked turns out an hour and a half outside of Puerto Vallarta that would’ve been nice to know.
There are zero activities plan at this place. They have a ping-pong table and you can rent some bikes, but once the sun goes down, there is nothing the whole place shuts down other places I have activities and things you can do to engage their guests. These guys could care less .
I normally when I go to Puerto Vallarta to the main resorts, people speaking English or they understand it at least, but here was a massive language barrier, which nobody tells you about you think you’re going to your normal Puerto Vallarta why would you think otherwise?
I will say that there were some outstanding staff members there, Jamie and Evaristo at the front entrance they were very professional and kind and knowledgeable , Angelica and the other “restaurant “ staff were so kind and helpful even.
And then last but definitely not least Agustin and is fellow bartenders were super people , very kind and fun .ALL THESE EMPLOYEES NEED A RAISE!!!
I spoke with 6 different couples at the resort who were so mad about the conditions but
Once Decameron resorts get your money they will only be around to steal from your rooms and make the worst food you will ever be served .
Oh and they think regular cut up hotdogs are bacon THEY ARE NOT
You have to go eat off resort to find bacon .
THE 4.3 “Rating “ on Google is fabricated .
I will dedicate my life and let all of my 7000 employees across Canada how terrible Decameron isle coral really is .
I spent good money to go on a much needed vacation and added up stress g about bugs on me at night while having an empty stomach
You guys could be so much better if you actually valued your customers .
I cannot stress this enough .
Shame on you isle coral for destroying people much needed vacations .
And I expect the same explain away answers all the other one star reviews got ,
Once they have your. Money they don’t care

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Perfect, as always.
This is not my first trip to Barcelo AO and it won't be my last. The food was delicious, the grounds were immaculate, and the rooms were welcoming and comfortable. But the best thing about Barcelo is the staff. I have to say, they are so friendly and warm, kind and helpful. Each night we looked forward to having drinks at the lobby bar/terrace and always tried to sit in Yazmin or Norma's section. They are exceptional servers who work hard and make all guests feel like family. A special shout out[... read more] to Maru Navarro. This caring young lady always goes above and beyond for Barcelo guests, making their stay perfect, and smooth. We loved walking by the Premium lobby, just to wave or stop in to say hello and she always had a big, warm smile on her face. We love how she always goes the extra mile, to make the trip extraordinary, positive and memorable. I'd like to always give a shout out to David Quiroga and Araceli Castro, in the French restaurant (La Comedie) at the AO. Always a smile on their faces and they went out of their way to make sure our dining experience was top notch. Barcelo you have hired some great people, who work very hard to give guests a positive experience. Well done.
See you next year.

Location is great, beach is pretty good. Rooms are OK - very clean. Staff is mostly super friendly, especially cleaners. Beach was horrible.. extremely dirty this was a huge let down.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great Resort Overall
Do you homework on reviews beforehand and you will not be disappointed. The grounds, amenities, and rooms here are excellent. There is no beach access directly on the resort but there are trolley's that come by every 10-15 minutes that take you across the highway to the non-adult Bahia Properties which are coastal. Great spot for pure relaxation and quiet, if you are looking to party or for good nightlife you should look elsewhere.
