El Dorado Seaside Suites: Resort NOT for us

We found the resort beautifully maintained, staff were fantastic, food was good, COMMUNICATION totally lacking. My husband and I are older and he needs help getting around, we found this resort to be more for people that like to party that is NOT US. We like to relax and just veg on vacation and are used to much more service and help for transport. I would not recommend this resort for someone older.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Love Sirenis

There were some staffing challenges with the pandemic but staff are doing their best. I did not feel secure that the room was properly disinfected as there was packing tape stuck on walls and doors, appearing like a previous guest had decorated. Since it was not removed I could not feel secure they were thoroughly cleaning. Their housekeeping carts were not stocked with the items they would need for proper disinfection of rooms. The use of a glove for the buffet is not a great way to lower t [... read more]ransmission as people reuse the same glove after they have touched the outside of it or didn’t use it properly. Having someone police the hand hygiene at the start of buffet would be more effective. COVID test was easy to book and results were timely. Airport departure was very delayed. Seemed like most travellers were not prepared with all the health information. A la cartes were hard to book. Likely due to staff shortages. I will still return to this resort as I do love it and understand this is a challenging time to maneuver. This was my 5th trip there.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Great vacation resort

This is our second visit to the El Dorado, but the first to the Seaside Palms. Love the laid back atmosphere. They are doing an amazing job during this time of "Covid", making sure masks are worn in restaurants and enclosed spaces and supplying an endless amount of sanitizer. Felt very safe. Everyone we spoke to was double vaccinated and in some cases already had a booster shot. Everything at the resort was keep very clean. The rooms are a little strange in that the sitting area was totall [... read more]y separate from the bedroom area, and the t.v. was in the bedroom area only, along with a deep lounging bathtub. We asked for extra chairs, which did not ever arrive, so we moved the couch to the bedroom area in front of the t.v..........problem solved. The restaurant and bar staffs were excellent. Food, once again, did not disappoint, it was very good.... We will return.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Customer service was lacking

We went for mid November 2021. I was there last year and didn’t have too many problems. However we did notice last year that the customer service was not very good. This year it was downright ridiculous. I came down with seven people from Ontario Canada. One of the women we were with ended up getting her period in the middle of the night while she was sleeping. They tried to clean it up as best as they could but was unsuccessful. This couple couldn’t really afford this vacation and I had to  [... read more]help them out with it. So they didn’t bring much money with them. Just enough for their Covid test to come back to Canada. The hotel decided that they were going to charge us $80 USD. They claimed that it was because it was the same kind of stain as if you Peed or Pooped or threw up. These are things you do in the toilet. I told him that this is ridiculous because having a period is not something we can control and we do not sit on the toilet for seven days. I would consider this under the cost of doing business. I am extremely upset with the outcome. When we tried to fight it they told us they were going to call the police if we didn’t pay it. The couple who this happened to didn’t have the money and I had to cover it. We had a swim up room which was pretty fun. And I was going to plan my wedding there. I am no longer going to do that. Also that same couple had water leaking out of a light fixture and when they called to have someone come and fix it they had to wait over six hours. I again had to step in and demand somebody come. When they did, they made my friends switch rooms.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Great beach and great service

Hotel was nice and staff was excellent. Buffet food was OK but the restaurant food was amazing. Bar service was superb. The rooms could be nicer as the toilet area is not very private and some of the electrical outlets did not work. We got locked out of our room and they needed to fix our door lock and our room was not cleaned at all on one occasion. When we spoke to the front desk it took them a long time to get someone to clean it but it was finally done around 9pm that evening. The slidin [... read more]g door to our patio would not lock and I explained to front desk but it was never fixed. They need different locks on those sliding doors for sure.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful place, awesome staff

Hotel and grounds were very nice. That beng said, there were hazard areas at the resort where there were loose boardwalk boards and sliippery areas. My wife slipped in the room coming out of the shower. There is a marble step as you leave the shower and she put her foot on it, slipped, fell, and broke her arm and 2 ribs. All this could have been avoided with anti slip strips which were in other locations. They did offer us a free week as compensation. Food was very good. Beach location was am [... read more]azing.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Girls trip

The grounds were well kept . The buildings ( rooms) and bathroom s could use a little bit of work . The staff is exceptional . Food was excellent . More light on walkways would improve the walk home from the bar and restaurant s .

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Post Covid-19 Trip

First of all we got the wrong room category. The next day they sort of fixed it after a lot of arguing. The food and drinks were great. The wait staff was great. The front desk not so much. The entertainment was fantastic along with the entertainment staff. Adrian in particular. Room service was fine. The resort was full and was only the second week after re-opening. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Awesome resort!

Great resort and lots of options. Love that Akumal let us visit all the other sister resorts nearby. Rooms were clean and the team even joined our double beds together and added a mattress so it felt like a king size bed in the end. Coffee shop was a favorite daily visit. Activities and staff were super fun. Shuttle service to room could be a wee bit better. We felt like we always missed the shuttle or never had luck getting it to our room, but the walk wasn't too far and we enjoyed walking so n [... read more]ot a big deal. Food was top notch and again great options. I like that it let you book online. PCR was the only item that could be better. Hotel booked us at 11am and seems like they booked everyone around that time and so the line up and process took 3+ hours altogether. If organized better, it could be a 15 min process. Definitely suggest a review to improve coordination as a fight broke out at the PCR station between travelers, probably because they were frustrated and wanted to go to the beach! All in all a great experience for us.

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Fantastic third stay at Breathless!

We loved this resort. So much. Clean. Friendly. Has everything you want. Love the layout and we had a lovely swim out room in 6 building. Food was great and service was awesome. We enjoyed the whole resort this past week. COVID has changed a few things but understandable and we are understanding and polite Canadians. These guys work hard. All day. He took such good care of us. Wilberth at the Bites area bar was awesome and knew what we wanted and we were never waiting. Dael on the entertainment team was so great and made us feel so welcomed. Loved no bracelets and no dinner reservations except Habachi grill. Was nice to just pick and choose and go. Italian was awesome both times. We loved Hibachi night! So great. 24 hour room service came in so handy for late night snacks and pre ordering breakfast to our room. Also the AMR app was fabulous to literally request or book anything all week. Thanks to the fabulous staff and new friends! We can’t wait to be back.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Customer Service is Superfantastic!

This amazing small resort has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. There is enough of everything. You can party, escape, stroll, swim, be entertained, eat, relax, be pampered, etc. We would suggest the “privileged” package, so worth it. Part of the package gets you access to the BLoved bar and restaurant. This was by far the highlight place to eat. The Mexican food choices were amazing, and something for everyone. Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: great vacation with some restrictions

Had a great vacation , havn't been away for 2 years , wasn't full which even made it better , not everything at full running but the staff and the resort were amazing and really tried to make everyone happy , I will be looking at this resort again in the future . There are a few minor hiccups with travel that you must do but would I do it again , yes in a heartbeat . Glad to see that people and buisness are getting back to a normal .

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Lots of weddings

Just got back from the Royalton Cancun before our Insane Canadian Government passes new health requirements and demands everyone have this Experimental MRNA Gene therapy goop installed into their body for a flu that has over a 99.7 survival rate, while completely ignoring citizens with earned natural immunity that has 6 to 13 time the antibody immunity protection. A get rich quick scheme for sure. The Royalton staff were great, pools clean, food good. The Hunter restaurant is the best, Mexican not so good. Room was spacious and clean, had a nice 2 weeks.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Great time!

EDSS, was amazing. We traveled Nov 1st-10th. Stayed in the beachfront room 3004. It is literally 26 steps from the patio to the sand. Want to acknowledge all the hard working and friendly staff. Thomas from the beach always had a warm fresh towel for us, Dani from the restaurant greeted us with a smile and Mario our conceriege who went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed every moment. You have to go to the mezcalito bar and get the chocolate pot drink. Also check out the liquid smoke [... read more] drink. Both are fantastic! All the restaurants were good, I enjoyed every meal. Tip, bring a floatie for the ocean. Also painted a bowl for a keep sake. The vendor is set up beside the pool store. He has great prices and makes your creation look like a masterpiece. Overall, worth every penny. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Resort was okay

The pools were nice. The ocean floor was all rock so you couldn't swim in the ocean. It was a bad experience for me. I arrived in Cancun and there was no shuttle. I contacted the resort and told to take a taxi and would be reimbursed the $225 US which they denied at the resort. Then I was charged an additional $200 US for some mystery tax that no one else had to pay that I met. My third and last trip to Mexico and 1st and last trip with tripcentral and Air Canada. Very disappointed.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Wonderful Resort

I would recommend this resort to anyone heading to Mexico. The rooms were huge and well kept. The food was amazing….from the buffet to all the specialty restaurants. Our only complaint was upon arrival we did have to speak to management about getting food as the buffet was not open that night and you need reservations everywhere else! We were tired and very hungry….they did manage to get us into a restaurant and it did not disappoint! They work tirelessly at keeping the grounds and beach  [... read more]looking great. There was also fun entertainment during the day and in the evenings. Loved all the wildlife….the beach and pools. All staff wore masks at all times. Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Great resort

The resort was beautiful, clean and staff was very friendly. The room was amazing with a double sink in the bathroom and two full closets. The food was good but hard to get into the restaurants. Some had a 1 1/2 hr wait to get in. The buffet was rarely open at night so all guests had to use the specialty restaurants. The shows were disappointing in comparison with some other resorts.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great resort, it has a great balance of activities and amenities!

I've been a number of resorts and this one beats all the others from the great balance of things that it offers "aspect". First of all I booked this resort because we needed a family oriented vacation. The addition of our daughter as a new family member made me look for resorts that offer a variety of choices for things to do. Sandos did not disappoint in this area! From the start we liked the grand picturesque entrance that the resort complex offers, it is spectacular from when you enter the [... read more] hanging vine arches. Inside is a mixture of jungle meets beach, which we loved right from the start. The resort offers many activities to do such as: watch the wildlife, hikes, bike rides, the flora is diverse, nightly entertainment, it offers daily entertainment by the pool (which we were never really a part of), water activities, kids water zone (this was great, with slides and many size pools), restaurants of various types and buffet, snorkeling through the cenotes, romantic boat ride, water activities. It really has a wide caveat of things to do and enjoy. One of the things we liked and disliked at the same time is how far our room was from the beach, we liked it because we would take a different route every day and check out the wildlife as well as the hanging bridge. I recommend booking all of the dinners the first or second day you are at the resort as these get reserved fast, we never got to see the Japanese restaurant as apparently it was booked solid throughout the week. I enjoyed the beach quite a bit, but we found you had to go at certain hours because the beach would get filled up with a sort of floating seaweed that would make enjoying the beach impossible. (if it was windy chances are that the beach gets completely filled with the stuff). There are multiple bars and snack bars around the resort complex and even though this is a huge resort sometimes it doesn't quite feel like that because of how abundant green spaces are within the complex. I loved the fact that there is shade literally everywhere around the resort, as many resorts are normally new and don't have any mature trees. (I know most people look for a sunny beach, but sometimes you get overwhelmed by the high sun that you have to run for cover between noon to 3, and this place offered this). Juan the concierge is a great person and facilitated our stay at Sandos. Our daughter was sick due to the weather and he made our stay a lot more welcoming, facilitating delivery for prescription medications for our daughter from a nearby pharmacy, giving us information about the resort complex and an all around nice guy. The downside as I mentioned is that the complex is huge and depending on what you like or your fitness level or needs if you are placed in the far end of the complex then everything is a long walk (reception, restaurants, play room, internet, the beach, pools). Most of my complaints are about the reception at the hotel. Because of covid it was unfortunate that we didn't get a copy of the map or any information at the reception. Also the reception always had huge lineups (every service at the resort was understaffed), reception would never have change for your currency (I was there every day in the morning and they would say that they were out of money, so on my entire trip I never had any pesos or smaller denomination to be able to tip), reception would also take clients at random sometimes from the line (I remember waiting 45 minutes to ask for something only to be turned to the concierge for that question). The first couple of days we were clueless, they don't give you any information on anything, internet is only available in few places and this resort is huge (big downside not having Wi-Fi, we could not get in touch with our other family members in the resort and the Wi-Fi was located very far from our room). The fact that the hotel is tiered based on how much you pay, you get privileges' for certain things (select club, adults only, elite, and so on).

Grand Riviera Princess: Beautiful resort, amazing staff!

Staff was very friendly, resort was very clean. Driver of the resort shuttle (Bernie) was such a special character, always there to pick us up and drop off back off all with a smile and many jokes! We had an amazing time in Mexico! Thank you to all the staff that made our trip so memorable. For 7 days it felt as if the pandemic did not exist and we were away from our worries.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great time

This is a resort that has it all. So much to do if you want to keep busy and a great beach if you don’t want to be busy. Just one tip to get your covid test. Do not use the shuttle bus. We waited 30 minutes to catch it. Then it took 20 minutes to get to the hotel with the testing site. It was a 5 minute walk along the beach ! So if you’re able just walk there.
