We loved the grounds and the pools. The beach looked great and was good to go for walks on but the under tow was too strong to swim. Our room was large and comfortable. Our main complaint was the hallway in our building had a terrible smell. Service was good.

Riu Palace Pacifico: Great hotel
Very good food, great staff with one exception, well looked after facilities, close to Bucerias, no tennis, generous drinks, weak entertainment, dated but clean rooms. Ancient windsurfing equipment, good catamarans, no paddle boarding

Riu Tequila: Top Notch!
A truly top notch hotel. From the minute we arrived, the check in process was smooth. We were offered a fruit drink on arrival and then our luggage carried to our room right away.
The rooms are spacious and very clean. I loved the Mexican feel to them. They did an excellent job of cleaning the rooms daily and always included a little surprise to brighten up our day......flowers, towel figurines.
The pool was also very clean, lots of loungers and clean towels available all the time. The pool[... read more] bar was excellent and their drinks were definitely not watered down.
The beach is across the street. There is a lovely treed walkway or you can take a shuttle. We loved to walk it though especially after having a large breakfast. Lots of loungers at the beach so never had to worry about not getting one. While at the beach you can have lunch at the restaurant that is located at that resort and also use their pool and pool bar. We ate lunch there a couple of time but found it very busy so we preferred to head back to the Riu Tequila where things were not as crowded and in my opion food was much better with more selection .
All the restaurants at the Tequila were excellent , the food was exceptional. We enjoyed every meal we had. The restaurant are also very clean. The staff is always making sure that food is fresh and serving utensils at the buffet are replaced frequently. I have actually never been to any other resort where they do such an impeccable job.
The evening entertainment is like nothing I have seen before. The team is extremely talented. It was like watching a Vegas show every night.
You can tell that all the staff take pride in what they do. They are friendly , courteous and go out of there way to make sure you are enjoying yourself. It feels like they are all one big happy family. I was extremely impressed at how well things are maintained and the fact that they pay attention to small details.
I would have rated it a 10 star if there was such a thing.
They are doing renovations in the spring so I really hope they don’t change the feel of the hotel too much by modernizing it. It is perfect just the way it is.
We are already looking at booking our next visit there.
Thank you again to all the staff for making our vacation so memorable!

Riu Playa Blanca: Nice Place with Amazing staff!
We flew into the Rio Hato airport that is only 10 mins away from the resort. Check in was amazing! Very fast. We were given rooms 1019 and 1020, and we were very pleased with where they were.. nice and close to the pools. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.
The pools were awesome.. 4 in total, quiet, sports, childres's and the Swim up Pool Bar, which was a favourite place for me! J. Villa was an Awesome bartender! Only complaint is that there is not a bathroom near the pools, which[... read more] I had read in other reviews.. looks like there is one in progress, and that will greatly improve the experience of guests! If you are a beach person, I don't know if this is the resort for you.. the water was cloudy and murky, and the sand is black.. it looked cool, but not sure if beach people would enjoy.. I am not a beach person, so it did not phase me.
Food was okay.. we always found something we enjoyed.
One of the people in our party got ill and required medical attention. Sunwing was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I actually cannot thank them enough for the support they provided us.. Estelle and Omar from the onsite team were awesome.. but Jose Rogriguez was an angel. I really don't know what we would have done without him.. truly a wonderful, caring person. Fabiola from the resort was also fantastic.

Riu Palace Antillas: Even better than the 1st time!
Our second time visiting Aruba and staying at this resort. Once you step off that bus, you enter a world of amazing service, friendly people who appear to truly enjoy their jobs, incredible food with large variety and freshness day after day and immaculate cleanliness.
Managers always circling the resort - highly visible and engaging - ensuring guests are satisfied and enjoying themselves. Gomez and Justin were an amazing part of our trip. Engaging, entertaining and always going above and beyo[... read more]nd to ensure the guests were happy. They made an incredible difference to everyone they encountered.
The beaches are well maintained and service to get chairs reserved is efficient and easy for guests.
Only negative comment I will continue to say is the lack of engagement and participation from the entertainment team. They are not visible nor engaging. With Aruba having the best beaches in the world you would expect them to walk the beach to talk to guests and be as entertaining as they marginally are at the pool. The entertainment team helps make a vacation even more fun. It’s just a tip to make this resort even better since they’re already awesome.
Will be back yet again next year. Love this place and would recommend it to anyone and everyone !

Riu Santa Fe: Great Resort- only picky people will complain about this place
We stayed at the Riu Santa Fe the last week of October. My girlfriend and I absolutely loved the resort, it has everything you need. The rooms are great, fully stocked fridge and decent bed. Maid service was good as well, we ask for the maid every other day and always tip and had no issues with anyone tampering with our stuff. The pools are great , amazing view of the ocean and escarpment. Drinks are good, nothing to call home about but not watered down and made the way you like. The bartenders [... read more]work hard to keep you happy. The food was good as well. Again, nothing to call home about but you will always find something you like. The people that say the food is bad are either extreme foodies or very picky and only eat burgers and fries which aren't good. The only issue we had is that only one a la cart restaurant is open per night even though they advertise that they have 4. You have to arrive right at 6pm to get a reservation for the night even though they say no reservations. The beach is swimmable depending on the day. One day the waves were 10 feet high, another day they were none existent. Use your judgement. I would advise to get a room in building 4 or 5 because you will be right in the middle of everything. Overall great experience at this resort and would go again.

Riu Flamingos: Amazing vacation!!!
I was a little skeptical when I first booked our vacation as I had never booked an all inclusive vacation online before. Our agent Jack was very helpful and always kept in touch with us to make sure everything was okay. He even gave us a call after we came back from Puerto Vallarta to see if everything was to our satisfaction. Really appreciated that!!. Anyways back to our vacation, we had a shuttle pick us from the airport and drive us to the resort which was about a 20 min bus ride. The check-[... read more]in was spot on as the front desk had everything ready and waiting for us. The hotel is not that big but perfect and we had a really good view from our room as we could see the pool area and beach from our balcony. The food at the buffet was great and the A La Carte restaurants were great too especially the steak restaurant by the beach. The nightly entertainment was great as well especially the Michael Jackson show. We also did a couple of excursions, one was the city trip with a visit to the tequila factory where we got to sample 7 different tequila flavors. We also did the snorkeling excursion through Vallarta Adventures which was excellent especially the crew on the boat were very friendly and entertaining. We had such an awesome time on this excursion. Overall the trip was wonderful and we had great weather in Mexico. We would definitely visit again.

Riu Palace Antillas: Great resort.
The resort is a beach front resort, with only a few steps to the white sandy beach and crystal clear water. The resort and the rooms were very clean. The room was spacious, with a King size bed, balcony with a partial ocean view, liquor dispenser with four different bottles of alcohol and mixers in the fridge, electronic safe in the room. The buffet was one of the best all inclusive buffet I ate from. Lots of choices and very flavour full. Lots of seafood. Service was outstanding. The Ala Carte [... read more]were not as good. Long line ups, certain menus, couldn't choose two of a kind in the same category. Eg: Would not accommodate us, if you wanted a soup, salad and appetizer. You can only have one choice. When they had steaks and lobster on the menu, they would not accommodate us if you ordered surf n turf. You had to have one or the other. This was very strange to us, because it's supposed to be all inclusive. The restaurant Malok, screwed up our time and we ended up waiting over an hour to be seated.

Riu Ocho Rios: Must GO! One week not enough!
The lobby is bright and clean, check in was easy, bars are good and many in this resort. This is a well laid out resort and very clean,if it is raining know worries they have covered walkways. This resort may seem big but it really isn’t everything is an easy walk to, they have two pools, one at the delux section and the party pool at the other end. Oh my! The beach is fabulous, clear ocean water, I stayed here the second week in October the ocean was so warm. The buffet was totally adequate, [... read more]you get some theme nights and we ate at the Italian restaurant it is open when the buffet closes, didn’t eat at any of the other restaurants, also you have a sports bar and within the sports bar is a casino didn’t use it need to show ID, a charge for a card you have to download with money. Oh yes there is a Jerk Chicken Hut on the Beach a must go to! SO Good, choices of hot or sweet sauce.
Our room was good, hair dryer was not very hot, TV reception isn’t the greatest because of the mountains they say but no problem! This resort has the best entertainment staff, they do a great job. Do some excursions and see the landscape the mountains are beautiful, I know one thing that may disappoint you is the long drive to this resort 1 1/2 to 2 hours but don’t let this stop you from going here, go at daytime and take in the scenery. Go enjoy Jamaica at Riu Ocho Rios.

Riu Republica: Amazing resort
Everything was amazing from the food, entertainment, drinks, service, pool, beach. They had nightly shows going on, and the entertainment dancers were really good. Buffet was massive and steak restaurant was good as well. Had a lot of strawberry daiquiris at the pool bar. The beach was beautiful and pool was massive as well. They even had a foam party one day which was a lot of fun. There was always something going on at the resort which was nice.

Riu Guanacaste: ok resort
The hotel was good. rooms were very clean and everything worked and it was air conditioned well.... the grounds were immaculate and kept up. The distance from the hotel to the pools, some restaurants and beach was a far walk in the heat. Found that there was not enough washrooms outside the pool area. The food was just ok repetitive. The pool could have been cleaner in my opinion.. it should be sparkling and it was not. The beach water and sand was black.. I knew that going there but it was to[... read more]o much.. The staff was just ok.. did not find them very friendly... the service was ok too but I felt not enough staff for such a big place. The a la carte restaurants were not that good. I found on the Friday and weekends a lot more locals were there and the pool and everything was busy and too many kids and too much people at the pool. There was always enough towels, chairs and great places to relax it after the swim. Overall we had a good experience but I would not go back.. The wine and liquor, beer was not the best brands.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Riu Renovated
First off, I would like to say that I think the Riu did a great job recovering from the damage caused to both the Palace and Sante Fe by Lidia.
The renos done in the rooms are a great improvement, with the removal of the old tubs and replaced with showers. The new theater and stage area is wonderful. The new buffet is nice, but I preferred the old one. This one feels too much like an open cafeteria, and is very noisy when busy. Food quality in the buffet seemed to have declined since my last vi[... read more]sit in October 2015. Had great meals in Indian and Japanese restaurants.Krystal was a waste of time the night we went. New lunch buffet was an improvement, but the best lunch is the Italian menu at the Sante Fe restaurant beside the activity pool. Great views as well .. right on the ocean. All in all, drinks were great, and staff was excellente!!! Very relaxing week.

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: OUTSTANDING SERVICE
This was our first time at this particular RIU and we weren't disappointed, the staff throughout the hotel went out of their way to provide quality service. The buffet offered a tremendous selection of foods that would appeal to everyone including many vegetarian selections, seafood daily and a theme of the day. The buffet was so good we didn't bother with the speciality restaurants at all. The beach area is out of this world with picture perfect sand and water and very few local vendors pesteri[... read more]ng you. The pool areas were kept spotless and the swim up bar was always fully stocked with all of our favourites. The only negative was when we arrived around 11:30 a.m. we were told our room wouldn't be ready until 3 but if we wanted to pay 590 pesos per night we could get a room right away. Also we were told there is a new environmental tax the government has added of 10 pesos per night that we had to pay in cash before they would even give us a room. We asked about paying by credit card and were told no, cash was to be in pesos but they wouldn't offer money conversion. When I told them we had only U.S. $ they relented and took that payment. Too bad the travel agency or Sunwing hadn't let us know to expect this added fee to our All Inclusive. Anyway other than that small glitch this was one of the best trips we have ever been away on.
