Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great for a Three Star

You get what you pay for with this place. The beach is very nice and beautiful and there is lots to do. Be careful though, it is a public beach. I stayed in a standard room which was basic, tv ac. The rooms were generally clean but I would recommend a room upgrade if possible. Staff is generally friendly, hard working but they do bring some of their local friends on the resort...plus some stray dogs running around which I found odd. Entertainment was pretty funny and you can really find anything [... read more] you like to do. You can sit in the quiet, participate in activities or go where the music is. Definitely take the time to explore this place, the whole resort (it really is massive) and even the market beside has some great vendors. Great vacation, will be back if the price is good again.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Cuba Weather !

The lay out of the resort is great .Staff are very helpful and friendly .Food presentation and variety need improvement in the buffet dining rooms..Bread and buns were not always available at the snack bars. Only one served pizza at lunch times. Ala carte dinners were somewhat better. The repeat client lobster dinner was well attended. People come back to this resort year after year and fill up the rooms.The beach and ocean views are the best feature of this resort.

th e grounds we great, the staff were very friendly , food could have had more variety ,The only thing we did not like was all the smoking in the lobby , I t was a wonder full stay would come back again this was the second time we have stay here , we will be back again

Sol Turquesa Beach: Fantastic Resort

Beautiful setting, pools and beach...great friendly service. The entertainment team was amazing! Snack bar makes great wings and pizzas and has friendly bar tenders who like to joke & chat with you. The cappuccino bar in the main lobby is not to be missed if your a coffee lover.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: great value

Grounds are beautifuly kept staff are friendly and helpful. Acmodation is good, we prefer the bungalows. Food is reasonable by Cuban standards , this was our 8th time there and have never been disappointed . The resort has a high rate of return guests ,who we meet every year . Good value for the money . If you expect something fancy please don't go we don't want to hear your complaints .

Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice resort but needs some maintenance

Resort is nicely laid out. Staff are excellent. Beach is beautiful. Lots of sun/shade/lounge chairs. Buffet was good (not much fruit but other than that kinda what you would expect). Alacartes were good. Italian, Seafood were the best. Plumbing issues need to be addressed. And for whatever reason...toilet seat are hard to come by in the public washrooms (both on and off the resort). 400 and 500 are the place to be.

Playa Pesquero: Needs a Overall Facelift..

Hotel was nice nothing special, badly needs a face lift in many areas, walkways throughout the complex are very old and in need of upgrading , Pool area also needs new cement work around pool. No activities around Pool area no inter- action with guests at all.. other than bingo. No music around Pool or Beach area while we where there only when doing Aerobics which they did not try to entice guests to participate in. although the food was not too bad, you always find something to eat, buffet was  [... read more]good although gets tiring having pork all the time need to have more seafood on menus. Danielle, Karel and Alexander were the greatest.. these guys made our stay there enjoyable considering the bad weather when we arrived they all helped lift our spirits throughout our stay. George and Paulo on the beach also helped with the great rides on the Catamaran rides George is the go to guy if you want to go fishing off a Catamaran, cheaper than the hotel prices...The Beer Market and Mojito Bar where our Favs, great drinks and great food at both places.. Beach area was very rocky and filled with garbage, cups, straws, beer cans, seaweed, and only one bar on the beach, had to walk too far to get a drink not enough staff on beach to serve you. Beach area was very slim from waters edge to end of sand to tree line , not large enough to accommodate the numbers of guests, felt squeezed all together... rocks all over the beach in sand and in the waters edge as you walked into the water.. very sharp and dangerous.. Not what we were expecting especially after the great time we had last year in Santa Maria...would never go back here...they need a Major upgrade, old and outdated...

Sol Turquesa Beach: Not bad resort

Beds were like sleeping on the floor ( hard as a rock). Out of 7 days we only had hot water for 2.Up graded to Diamond after 3 days to get better beds which were not better. Lots of walking to get to pools and Buffet and bars. Is under staffed at bars .( wait 10 to 15 min for drink)

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great resort

We've been to Cuba 7 times now, and this resort did not disappoint. The location is what really makes this place special. Up on a cliff overlooking the ocean, you can see the water from most vantage points. We go to Cuba for it's beaches, and don't stay by the pool. However, the almost infinity-like view from the main pool area is great. The resort is a combination of two previous resorts (Luna and Mares) and this makes it more interesting IMO. The buffet can be busy at times, as it is the only one available for the whole resort. We found the al a carte restaurants to be good. The beach area is quite exceptional. Great sand, very little coral for the most part and lots of shade to be found. We stayed near a beach bar that had also had a restaurant for lunch which was quite convenient. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would return.

Don Lino Hotel: Relaxing Resort!

This is a very peaceful resort with super friendly and accommodating staff. Our room was clean and daily visits from our maid ensured we had fresh towels and returned to a tidy room with her creative touch. The food was decent although not a huge variety which lends to being a small resort. The main buffet restaurant is brand new and evening entertainment during dinner was excellent spilling over to the evening entertainment at the beach/pool bar where live bands got all of the patrons participa [... read more]ting. Toni and Manuel always checked to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. Toni went above and beyond to explain about where the snorkelling was safe and made sure we had full gear. The beach is natural and clean although not the best for swimming. We were directed by staff how to get to the beautiful swimming beach a short walk through a village and down the road. Locals were super friendly and the horse drawn taxis were always available if you needed a ride into town or to the beach. Amoral one of the taxi drivers even made reservations for a delicious dinner in the village for us one evening. Overall an excellent resort for a relaxing vacation without spending a fortune. We would go back again!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great Birthday Getaway

We were booked in to a Standard Room.....what they call the old barracks. It was smaller than my daughters dorm room and much too small for two people. You couldn't even leave your suitcase laying down so you could get at things. We upgraded to a Villa and were much happier. Note, it's cheaper to upgrade while you are there than when you book your trip.....you run the risk of no upgrades being available though. After that, we had a great time.....great beach, the Pirate bar was awesome and food. [... read more]...well you could always find enough to eat and some nights it was quite good. We also met some great people on our trip and the resort was small enough that you would keep running into people you met!

Brisas Guardalavaca: Wonderful staff

a very well run resort. The grounds are well kept, and the staff great. The only area of disappointment was the Italian restaurant, the staff were good but the food was not. The buffet restaurant was the best bet, and the breakfasts were good.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Overall good Good value. The food not as good

The price was very attractive but the hotel rooms in the main building were not very nice.The bungalow and villas are nicer and worth paying little more to move to them. They could do simple things to beef chicken and pork to make them much tastier by just adding onion and little spice. Also the bread which is so simple to make did not tasted good. The ground could simply be improved if they cut the grass every week and plant more flowers similar to the neighboring resort.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: I Love Rio de Oro

Rio de Oro has been a regular part of our vacations now for 15 years, and we spend at least a week there each year. The facility is small, and by many world standards, is not a 5 star resort. However, because of the people who works there, this resort more than compensates for any deficiencies. Since our visit last year, they have upgraded the pool and surrounding decking, as well as the pool restaurant. The rooms are now a little dated, but work is underway to renovate them. Food-wise, the buf [... read more]fet and the 4 à la carte restaurants, along with the pool and beach restaurants offer a good variety, and the pool and beach bars are very popular during the daytime. When you have lunch at the pool restaurant, Neysie and her crew will brighten your day, no matter what your mood may be. At the Beach Restaurant, Roberto, Misleydis, Yemi, and the rest of the staff are outstanding, and six days a week, the trio of Alex, Vladimir, and Manual will get your toes tapping with their repertoire of Cuban standards. Whether you are waiting to go to dinner, or after you return from your evening meal, the Lobby Bar (Palma Real) is a hive of activity. During the late afternoon and early evening, a vast assortment of talented musicians will entertain you while you sip your favourite drink. Later, around 10PM, the stage lights up with a variety of musicians, magicians, dancers, and acrobats. After the show ends, all the die-hards hang out at the bar and get involved in many deep discussions. We have formed many friendships at the Palma Real, many of whom have remained close friends for years. Most of the staff at the lobby bar have been regulars there since Rio de Oro opened in 1999, and all are true professionals. You can rely on great service wether you tip or not. If you want to sample some premium rum and cigars, flag down Alien and his cart as he passes by. If rum is your drink, a reasonable fee can get you a sip of 18 year old Vigia, 20 year old Santiago de Cuba, or 20 year Havana Club. You can light up (in an approved section of the lobby), anything from a Winston Churchill, to a Cohiba Maduro. If the main hotel is not to your liking, the Royal Service section lives up to it's name. The facilities are second to none, and the food and service is a class above. We felt more than pampered with our beautiful room equipped with a large balcony, a vast outside shower, and our very own butler to pour us a large mineral bath. If you need to spend time on the beach, the Royal Service offers its own private strip of sand, serviced with the special attention of Arnaldo and Julio at the Caleticus Bar. Overall, I would highly recommend the Rio de Oro. Many of the people we have met there are returning guests. As a matter of fact, each week, the Rio de Oro holds a special dinner for returning guests, at the beach restaurant. I have attended many of those events and, judging by the many guests in attendance, many other tourists have made this hotel their favourite destination as well.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Lovely and so comfortable.

Staff were fantastic. Grounds beautiful and clean. Rooms comfy and clean. Buffet Food so so but some restaurant food pretty good. Excellent cocktails and all sorts of options. I will plan to go again next year!

Sol Turquesa Beach: A disaster of a resort!

The room needed a good cleaning, mould and dirty grout. Curtain panels missing. Beds should be replaced...everyone says how old and uncomfortable they are. The food was beyond terrible. Sunwing should up their food budget! Some of it is unrecognizable as food. Teach the cooks a few simple recipes with the food they have to work with (scalloped potatoes,garlic roasted potatoes, chicken cacciatore,macaroni and meat sauce with some spices etc...)Serve coffee at the table! The staff as usual were the best part of the resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great 3 Star Resort.

The hotel has sections that could be updated and more well kept but it also has sections that resemble a 4 or 5 star hotel. It all depends what you pay and which section you stay in. Bungalows and Villas are 4 or 5 star quality. The Standard rooms are closer to a 2 or 3 Star and the Tropical Hotel rooms are average with a great main lobby and buffet. There are tons of Buffets, Snack Bars and A La Carte restaurants and drink Bars to choose from along with 4 Pools and lots of activities.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Very Good Trip

My wife and I went to Sol Rio de Luna y mares last week of January, and found the resort very good, for an older resort they keep the property is very well maintained and picturesque, the beach was great, and the overall service was very good. would go there again if the oportunity came up.

Beach was beautiful, market was great being next door, you could visit daily. The food was ok would have preferred more grills set up so the line isn`t as long to wait. Overall worth the money and the view

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Nice resort, beautiful view

Very nice resort with a beautiful well maintained beach. Like most all-inclusive resorts the buffet gets a little repetitive but the food is pretty good with lots of choices. Staff is very friendly. Some of the entertainment was less than impressive but there were plenty of other things to do.
