Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great Family Resort with Nature vibes!
Made some great memories at this resort! Lots of wild life and jungle vibes all over, and plenty to do for the kids. Folks at Kids Club were A1. Food at buffet could be little hit or miss, but not bad. Restaurants very hard to get reservations. Beach very nice, but hard to get out and swim with the rocks. Pools/ water park were great tho! Snack bars by the pools were great places for easy lunchs

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Wonderful Spot!
The resort was fantastic! Beautiful rooms, pool, and beach. All of the food was fantastic, both the restaurants and the buffet. Loved the koi and the turtles in the main area of the resort. Both the family side and adults only side had tons of fun activities to go to. All the staff were kind and friendly. East walk to the town of Playa del Carmen but there was lots to do on the resort and we didn’t feel bored just staying there most days.
Sandos Playacar provided a memorable experience during my attendance at a destination wedding for a friend. The resort boasts convenient accessibility on foot, although its layout can be described as unconventional, particularly notable in the adult section which adjoins another pool catering to both children and adults, situated alongside the beach. Recently, the resort management adjusted the layout, evidently influenced by feedback from YouTube vloggers.
While the resort's party scene may [... read more]be subdued due to its family-friendly atmosphere and proximity to Playa del Carmen, guests seeking nightlife can easily venture into the city center. It's worth noting at Sandos Playacar, that local bars typically close by midnight, with some exceptions extending until 1 a.m.
Regarding dining options, the main buffet located near the Meeting Point offers a satisfying array of dishes, including delectable spicy tacos prepared fresh from the grill. However, one inconvenience to consider is potential flight delays impacting travel to the resort, as it requires an additional hour of transportation via shuttle or car from Cancun.
Accommodations, while somewhat dated, serve their purpose adequately considering that most guests spend minimal time in their rooms. Notably, room service maintains a commendable level of efficiency, particularly during non-peak meal times.

Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort and Spa: Wouldn’t return
Stayed in February 2024
When you arrive at Cozumel, the second you get off of the plane the sales pitches begin. You’re directed to a person that will try to sell you the normal excursions. Once you get away from them you’re directed to your actual rep. As soon as we spoke to her she told us to be weary of the previous sales persons. Which was a little late, or could have been if we had signed up for something.
The shuttle ride to the resort is short. Once you get to the resort you’re put into[... read more] the checkin area. Air conditioning and sparkling wine. And the selling begins again. They’re definitely too pushy and the pitch is way too long. Once we got away to our room our air conditioner was blasting away. (A little too much but we quickly found a comfortable temperature for us). The rooms are clean, bug free, the beds are comfy and pillows are great. No one gets a King bed and everyone has two doubles from what we heard / saw.
There are two restaurants at Dreams. But you have access to others at secrets and sunscape. The food at the restaurants is great and breakfast is good too. The pool is very cold. Gets next to ZERO sun. And it is very small. The beach is also very small. And between the beach and pool there is no where near enough loungers for the guests so you either get up at 5 to claim a chair, wait to nab one if someone leaves, or just don’t have one.
Finally … the house cleaners (or whoever ever else let themselves into our room during the day) stole from us. I had a very expensive facial serum taken from the bathroom. We didn’t let the cleaners in after the second day for this reason which was a pain for towels and getting new water bottles. I searched the room for a couple days to make sure I wasn’t mistaken before I said something. Once I did say something the staffs response was … yeah well (insert a shrug of the shoulders), we can always improve on things. No apology. He didn’t even bother to ask what had been stolen.
All in all we wouldn’t return. Partially for the service. Mostly for the hotel and its beach / pool area.

Cleaning staff were very helpful and respectful.
Food was good but the Gluten free food was not well displayed and some of the service staff had problems understanding what we needed.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Royal Decameron Complex
The Royal Decameron Complex is welcoming beautiful and clean. Over the years however the up grades in the rooms are needed, the lounges are old. The buffets for us are great, but the a la carts have gone downhill and trying to book a reservation is less the ideal. If you request a particular building or floor good luck when you get there because it won’t happen. You can get it changed but you will have to wait about two days. It doesn’t matter if you’ve asked due to medical issues upon arrival [... read more]you get what you get.Saving a lounge with towel apparently has become an issue and is not allowed the last I heard which is unacceptable for those who do not abuse the time saving for their lounges for an hour. We hope to return one day but some improvements are needed before that happens.

Riu Vallarta: Great week!!
Having stayed in Riu Hotels before, cleanliness was never an issue. The place was always kept spotless and our room was cleaned daily. The rooms are a little small, but we didn't spend a lot of time in them, so no issues with that for us. Bed was comfy enough, good A/C, mini bar, which is nice to have. A very cookie-cutter kind of place. Looks like a lot of the other Riu Hotels, but that's okay. I'm a sucker for Mexican food and this place didn't disappoint. Good variety in the buffet. We had ba[... read more]con every morning we ate there. A little chewier than I'm used to, but it tasted good. I had one of the best steaks while eating at the Italian Restaurant. You get unlimited a la cartes, no reservations, but you did sometimes have to wait with one of those vibrating/lighting pucks, even then, it wasn't so bad. The pools seemed to be kept clean, although we only spent time at one with our favorite poolside bartender Abel. He made a mean Mango Margarita! Drinks at this resort were always so tasty. The Sports Bar made really good coffee drinks and had non-dairy alternatives, which was nice. I loved their espresso martinis in late afternoon, too. Perfect pick-me-up! It's not a far walk to the beach and the beachside food bar was good if you wanted a lite snack or lunch. Burgers, hotdogs, fries, nachos and chili. Very tasty and spicy chili. Beach and poolside chairs do seem to get claimed early enough, but we always found a couple free ones. Beach was kept clean, even with the many horses trotting around. Some beach vendors, but we never had any pushy ones. They seemed to respect it when you said, "No, Gracias". Great location to walk the beach in either direction. We even rented bikes not far from the hotel and they have a great walking/biking path just out front of the Hotel. Bucerias isn't far either, if you wanna do some shopping at the little market they have there. You can also go to the Riu Jalisco for the day if you'd like. Have lunch, enjoy the pools. They host a Riu Party every Friday, which we enjoyed. It can be a bit of an older crowd, but there's enough of a mix of younger families and couples, so it's not so bad. One thing I'd say, is I wished they played more Spanish music. They seemed to play a lot of Rock 'N Roll, which is fine, but not what I wanna listen to on vacation. Hotel staff were always happy to help with anything, and you always got service with a smile. We had an amazing time and wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

Riu Emerald Bay: Pretty good with some flaws.
Grounds
For the most part, the resort was very clean. There was always staff cleaning different areas of the resort.
Rooms
The rooms are a little bit older, but they were very clean. The beds were somewhat comfortable and the AC was strong. When being assigned room, you should hope that you get assigned to a room closer to the ground level as it takes a really long time to take an elevator down to the lobby. Every day, I just walked down from the 8th floor to the lobby.
Food
The[... read more] food gets quite receptive after a few days. The food tends to be overcooked and it tasted average at best. Nothing really blew me away. There are only two restaurants where you require a reservation to dine in (Asian and Mexican). In my opinion, the Mexican restaurant was quite horrible and the Asian restaurant had decent food. However, for both the Asian and Mexican restaurants, they either were fully buffet style (Asian) or the appetizers were buffet style (Mexican). The other 3 restaurants were buffets along with a grill near the pools. The non-alcoholic drinks tasted quite diluted.
Pools
They had an amazing waterpark that is fun for both children and adults. The resort has around 7 pools. The pool near the buffet was less popular and tend to attract a lot of seagulls and birds. As a result, it led to a lot of seagulls defecating in the pool. Otherwise, the other pools looked relatively clean.
Service
The service from the staff was amazing. Everybody was extremely friendly and polite. The RIU app was easy to use and enabled us to make reservations at restaurants, request a refill in our minibar, or request refills to amenities such as conditioner and shower gel.

Paradise Village Puerto Vallarta: Paradise Village Puerto Vallarta
The staff were very friendly and extremely busy. The rooms were very dated and we struggled with the replenishment of fresh towels, toilet paper, coffee, shampoo in the rooms. The entertainment and food were good and the beach was very well maintained. For the type of holiday we had, the resort was perfect but I would hesitate to classify it as a 5 star resort. We did have a wonderful time.

Paradise Village Puerto Vallarta: Beautiful Resort
Our group of 8 really enjoyed the property and the amenities .
Only disappointing issue was the rooms we booked. Only 2 of us had rooms with a balcony which we requested and were told we would get. Also we asked for rooms close together which we did not get we were in different buildings far apart.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Wonderful Vacation
The location of the hotel is very beautiful. We enjoyed all the services and facilities surrounding the hotel. The beach is very clean and well-maintained. The staff at the reception were friendly and accommodated all our wishes. The resort offers many restaurants for dining. We would suggest that the food could be improved by offering more international and healthy options, as it was the same every day. The room service was amazing; the cleaning staff were nice and family-oriented. The resort a[... read more]lso offered many activities for families, which were all very well-organized, and we felt very relaxed.

Riu Santa Fe: Run, don't walk to this resort!!!!
Outstanding resort, excellent service, lovely staff, beautiful appointed rooms and really delicious food choices. Loved that we didn't have to book al a Carte restaurants, never felt rushed.
We were the " grey haired people" and had a blast. Only down side is the noise at night when partiers return to rooms. Lots of echos in the hallway.
Would return in a heartbeat.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Amazing 2 weeks at Barcelo Palace
I thought two weeks would be too long but we were sad to leave and could have stayed another 2 weeks. Resort amenities the beach the food the service was outstanding and the staff are so professional and eager to make your stay memorable. The staff at the Water Sports and dive shop are so helpful and knowledgeable. We went out on the Hobie Cats daily. I recommend upgrade to premium level for additional services.
We loved this resort and we are already planning to return next year (going to try Maya next year (same resort, different rooms and more restaurants)).
There is so much to do for all ages. The waterslides, lazy river and wave pool are fun for all ages….the pools are amazing! The beach was really nice. My son loved Star Camp (9 yrs old)! We also played Tennis and had a blast!
Food was great at all restaurants (Italian, El Rancho steakhouse, Under the Sea, Greek), except the Mexican re[... read more]staurant (very disappointed with that…worst guacamole…but, room service guacamole and tortillas were great!). We loved the Teppanyaki restaurant….highly recommend it (fantastic food and a great show)! Buffets were all great. We loved the burgers and fries in the shopping centre Hamburger restaurant. Star Cafe is like Starbucks and a great go to place for snacks and drinks.
The resort is huge…if you have mobility issues, that might be an issue (no elevators) , but there are shuttles (golf carts) running constantly around the resort. We walked about 10km a day.
When booking a room ground level is that, 1st floor is the 2nd floor and 2nd floor is the 3rd floor…something to be aware of (as noted above, no elevators).
We had a junior suite by the pool on the second floor and we loved it. Very spacious and clean.
Loved that your key card is attached to your wrist band! Smart and handy!
A few negatives….
All items in the stores are ridiculously priced (bag of chips and gummy worms were $43 CDN…stuffed animal was $60 CDN….2 packs of baby wipes were almost $50 CDN). Bring everything that you think that you need and more.
Not much poolside drink service (1 person working a huge pool) and only one bartender working at each bar, so you can end up waiting in line for 20 mins for a drink. Get multiple drinks at once and bring your own large cup to keep them cold (Corkcicle, Stanley etc…)
They used to greet you with a cold towel and glass of champagne upon arrival (as other all inclusive resorts do), but they have stopped that at Lindo (unsure why)….it is something that I like and this was missed.
Overall a great resort…which is why we are going back next year!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great trip!
We had a wonderful time at this resort. The staff were all very professional, friendly, and accomodating. It was just my husband and I on the trip and we had requested a room with a king bed, but when we arrived we were given a room with two doubles. They moved us to a new room as soon as a king bed became available, which only took a day. They were great!
The first few days on the resort were extremely windy so we weren't able to get in the water but when the wind finally died down, it was [... read more]great. We got out parasailing, which we did find much more expensive than other resorts/islands we've been to. But it was fun, and the staff running the parasailing were very nice.
I got a massage at the spa one day and I have nothing but good things to say. My massage therapist, Luisa, did a great deep tissue massage. It was a full body massage from my toes to my head. Very relaxing!
The food was one of the best parts of our vacation. The a la carte restaurants were really great. It's worth noting that you must make your reservations 10 days before your trip at the time you check-in. We knew this in advance, but we spoke to some people who were unaware of this and weren't able to get reservations. So make sure to take a look at restaurants and menus in advance and get your reservations booked. There are no a la carte for breakfast and lunch but the buffet was surprisingly good! Tons of options and good quality.
You have access to all Bahia resorts (Coba, Tulum, and Sian Ka'an) when you stay at Akumal. Akumal is by far the best of the 4 so we only ventured on to the others for dinners.
All in all, we had a wonderful trip and would definitely recommend this resort.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Pretty but disappointing
As a repeat guest (been 5 times) we found the resort is now pushing very hard on guests to purchase memberships. Prices have gone up but service has decreased. Buffet menus are primarily Mexican food with fewer options. Many amenities not available for non-members. Entertainment now has a cost.
