Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort

This is the nicest and most beautiful resort that I've been to in Cuba and I've been to several. Grounds are beautiful - the people are fabulous, always going out of there way to be more than accomodating, the food is fantastic. I would highly recommend this resort!

Playa Pesquero: Had a Wonderful Time!

The resort was beautiful, the ocean was magnificent. The people were extremely friendly. Nightly entertainment was a lot of fun. Dancing under the stars was awesome! Italian a la Carte was delicious .

Brisas Guardalavaca: Great times again

Staff is exceptional, place is always clean, they work to keep things up, but being Cuba, realize older hotels like this one are not the best in rooms or beds, but then how long you planning to stay in a room when on vacation?

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Best resort we have stayed at

This resort was excellent. Rooms were spotless, food was amazing. The staff were very friendly. It was nice to have so much shade at the pool and beach and lots of chairs available. Entertainment was very good. We will be returning to this resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Overcrowded!

Flight with Sunwing was delayed. Couldnt get into our room when we got there at 2am as the key didnt work. Got moved down the row a few. We were not put in the correct section that I booked. Safe didnt work, my husband had to fix it. Lone line ups for everything. Full of rude French people and bikers. No shade on main beach. Have to get up at 7am to reserve (pay) for chairs at the private beach. Rude staff who cater to big tippers before anyone else. Shows were mostly loud Cuban music. We didnt  [... read more]complain about anything when we were there... no point and a waste of time lining up to do it, so Im doing it here to warn anyone else from going there.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: disappointed

Room was sparsely furnished, blankets worn, mattresses terrible. Had to pay for bottled water and room safe. Told them my wife has MS yet we were place on a unit farthest from main hotel and dining areas. This was gift and giver felt very bad.

Playa Pesquero: Fabulous resort!

The lobby area is nice with comfortable furniture to sit and relax. The servants bring drinks, coffee and snacks. There are 3restaurants linked one to another so you are not exposed to a sun if you want to have a lunch in one or another restaurant. The variety of food is amazing, and everything is delicious. We had 4 suppers in the romantic restaurants (have to be booked in advanced) where we ordered lobsters. The room was large and modern. Fortunately there were not mosquitos. They have a car s [... read more]preading something in the air on alleys in the late evening, so no insects those I afraid the most to have in Cuba. Every evening we had a professionally directed performances. I definitely will go to that resort again. My first trip to Cuba met my expectations and dissolved my fires.

Playa Pesquero: Beautiful Resort

Playa Pesquero is a big beautiful resort that is very well kept and run by the friendly and kind Cuban people. The gardeners are working everyday to keep the resort looking nice. Its is a larger resort that requires guests to walk if the golf carts are not available. The rooms are clean and well kept by the chambermaids through the week. They also have a drink service where they keep your fridge stocked of beer and water, which is very nice to have. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of foo [... read more]ds to choose from. The a la carts were good as well and had a variety of dinner choices. All restaurant servers went over and above to give us a great dining experience. There was always an evening show which we took in and enjoyed. We had a great week and plan to go back with the family in the future. And yes we would recommend this resort to friends!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: 8 times at this hotel butlast trip dissapoinment

1st.room without a seaview 2nd. On 2nd.day i had cancelled at the reception counter the use of the inroom safety box (2cuc. A day) and they still charged me 28 CUC $40+can when chekout time... AND ALSO While waiting for someone to arrive At the hotel entrance while i was leaning against a wooden door frame I also wreked a brandnew $50 t-shirt because they had just repainted IT without any WET PAINT SIGN or WHATSOEVER... I have been to this hotel 8 times in the past , i once been with 14 people a [... read more]nd reffered many others but honnestly think this was the last... They could not admit theyr mistakes...

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Another Great Time At Club Amigo Guardalavaca

This is our second visit to the Club Amigo Guardalavaca. We had such a great time the first time that we wanted to go back. The workers are all so nice and are always very attentive. The food was fine, we did not go hungry, infact we ate so much that by the fourth day eating was the last thing on our minds lol. Rooms are always kept clean. The beach was amazing and nice to be able to share with the locals. Pizza restaurant outside of the resort by the market was a great place to go and beer and  [... read more]pizza for under $4 pesos. I would definitely return to this resort just to see my Club Amigo Guardalavaca family again. I miss them all already :-)

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: The friendly place

This resort is a bit of an old chestnut. Parts of the resort are old and worn, while other parts are being renewed. Excellent location next to the ocean. The service is friendly from an experienced staff.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: 3rd time visiting

My last two trips to this resort I gave this place a 4 star review because of the great time I had. The staff is for the most part very helpful, the grounds are well maintained and while the buildings themselves are quite old they are clean and functional. My reasoning for going down a star this time is because: 1. The beach needed a little more TLC (seaweed, cups, straws etc all over) and 2. My biggest complaint..they need to get designated smoking areas. Most of the smokers have no regard for  [... read more]the people who don't smoke. I do not like eating my food with smoke coming at me from all directions. I wouldn't want to bring children there to fill their tiny lungs with second hand smoke. I know this isn't really the fault of the hotel as much as it is the ignorant people who think it's ok to force their cigarettes upon everyone else. I will be giving this hotel a break next year, however I will most likely return again.The resort has a lot of potential and is a great spot all in all.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Good resort!

Very nice personnel that even remembers your name, very nice beach, great resort. Clean rooms, good food with fairly good choices. Would gladly go back for a future vacation. The bars were amazing serving amazing coffees.

Playa Pesquero: Playa Pesquero has room for improvement

Pros: - Beautiful grounds - Excellent food - Beautiful beach - Lovely touches such as fresh juice/water and cookies in the lobby area all day long. Cons: - Very large resort. While there are golf carts driving around periodically, they failed to show up at our room on numerous occasions which forced some of the older individuals in our group to walk far distances to some a la carte restaurants - One of our towels was stolen while we were in the water at the beach and the front desk said that we [... read more] would have to pay 15 CUC to make up for it even though it was not our fault. We felt that this was not fair and put a damper on our trip. - The currency exchange center was unable to provide single pesos (we tried several days/times). The lowest denomination was 3 pesos which was a little frustrating. We felt like this was a sneaky way of increasing the staff tip amounts. - Lack of entertainment. To clarify, while the shows in the evening were excellent, we felt as though the animation staff didn't make an effort to engage the guests during the day. There was no engagement at the pool (no aqua fit in the pool....no silly games....very strange to me). Also, when it was raining one day, all the guests gathered in the lobby and/or stage area and there was no music/etc to keep us entertained. A small effort would've gone a long way on this particular day.

Don Lino Hotel: Home base for many adventures!

Nice hotel, clean, beautiful with good location to many places. Playa Blanca was a very beautiful beach, 6 pesos carriage rid there and back. Bring ear plugs as the roosters will wake you up all night. Hit the breaker panel, near door to turn on/off the air conditioner and clean the filters in the tub. Food was OK. Older crowd, no pina coladas :( bring insect spray! Hope to return to Cuba soon.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Exceptional resort

The hotel was clean comfortable the staff could've been more friendly and More willing to aid in your problems.. I thought that the staff could have understood better English .. But other then that the beaches we're beautiful the pools and entertainment was great.. Had a great time and would visit again

Sol Turquesa Beach: Babies and Seniors Beware

We travelled to Memories Holguin (previously Riu) and from check in to departure the stay was not at all what you would expect for the stars it is rated. First of all this resort is in the middle of a botanical garden so if you like mosquitos and lots of lush forest you may enjoy it. Second it is located on the side of a large hill, this means endless stairs to get from your room to the lobby and to the beach. This makes it absolutely unmanageable with a stroller a toddler and a diaper bag. The  [... read more]check is was super slow and no one was happy with the rooms they had in the middle of nowhere. We needed a cart to get anywhere because we were so far away from the main buildings. The food was not great either, and I know that you dont get great food in Cuba but this was the worst so far...most times no buns for the hamburgers or hotdogs, the pasta station was only open certain days, the line up were gross and most times the 24 hour snack bar didnt have anything on the menu. Usually I can cope with poor food in Cuba because the people make it worth it but this resort we didnt even meet anyone that was overly customer service friendly or nice. I would seriously suggest you look at another resort, stay far away from MEMORIES or you will only have bad MEMORIES....PS several people on our flight were also very sick.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: one of my best vacations ever!

The hotel was clean and always trying to get better. Friendly staff and always helpful, They don't try to nickel and dime you to death. For example I lost my key card 3 times and they gladly replaced it, with no charge! To all who complain about the food, I am a professional chef with 30 years in the business and although the beef was a little tough it was all very tasty, fresh and a good variety. The ala carte restaurant food was wonderful. Delightful and delicious! The cuban people are what make the vacation exceptional go for a stroll off the resort and take some stuff to give away, we took work gloves, candy, school supplies, lipstick, mascara, geometry sets, sun glasses and some other bits of Canadian stuff. I have never seen more gratitude and wonderful responses from a people in my life. We were invited to a Party at a Cuban locals home where the neighborhood used probably most of their rations to throw a party and Dinner for us it was heartwarming to see such a genuine and honest caring people. The beach was clean and white sand the consistency of flour, The water was warm and beautiful turquoise blue. No one on the beach trying to sell you stuff. at the public or private beach. The only downfall was the public toilets, because the island has no plastic factory toilet seats are rare (not at the resort they had nice washrooms) just in public toilets. Take your own toilet paper as there is about a 100 percent chance of no paper in the bathrooms. A special shout out to the front desk staff who had to deal with two canceled flights and had to find room for a huge amount of unexpected guests. They were professional and quick. The entertainment at night was professional and entertaining, they had real bands and shows by real entertainers, Most resorts I've been to have cheesy entertainment not so at the Blau Coste verde. A few of my friends had some issues with mosquitoes but they were selective as I didn't get one bite my entire stay go figure, so as a precaution bring some bug spray (good advice on any holiday)

Playa Pesquero: Beautiful!

It was our first trip and we couldn't be happier. The lobby is all open and airy. The grounds are easy to walk from one end to the other and easy to find your way around. The food was surprisingly good. The beach was incredible! The staff was wonderful - so friendly and helpful. We cannot wait to go back!!

Playa Pesquero: Fantasic trip

We loved the staff. Rooms were clean, food was good, beach was narrow but beautiful to swim in. Tons of places to snorkel feet awat from the beach. We were there with our 2 boys, ages 10 and 13 and they loved it. Sports room was awesome. We had no so nice weather so we were blessed to have the kids be entertained with ping pong, billards and many other activities. Tons of families. Pool was awesome.  Property was very big and spread out.
