Tryp Cayo Coco: We would not go again
We came on Christmas day and we did not like atmosphere (drunk locals at lobby)
Lobby -not high sealing, small space. Not lobby more reception only. You donâ€t have feeling you are at resort. Check in was fast only we came in that time. Our room was fine, and maid lady did a great job..Towels are the white and a new which I like.
Buffet area looks like student’s canteen. Sometimes fish from bbq is raw. No veggie. The waiters sometimes do not come at all to ask do we need anything. We onl[... read more]y take one drink for lunch or dinner. For New Yea Eve our waiter came once for drink. Was really disappointing. We are not picky at all this reality.
Snack bar is also horrible..Five or six of locals are having fun while rest of guests are suffering from the noise.
There was no WC near the beach so either you go to your room or near the buffet which is far..
The hotel has a nice layout I view from the terrace.
International restaurant- service was okay.Portions were kiddie sized.
Cuban restaurant -service was a good and portion are normal.
Italian restaurant we did not go, they did not have any open space.
Of all my trips to Cuba, this was by far the most expensive and the only one that really was disappointing and a letdown.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: We had a good peaceful week which we were seeking.
We were seeking the SUN , SAND, and beautiful beach and this resort is very much that! The room service was ordinary and could be a notch better with provision of more varied liquid drinks. Cleanliness was great. The grounds of the areas we frequented were well kept and colorful. The food was at times bland and not available or limited.

Melia Costa Rey: Excellent vacation
It was our second stay in this hotel, and we loved it both times. We were in the Collection section, and everything was great. Staff were friendly and helpful, service quick, beach clean and spacious. The only suggestion that I would make is to have more vegetarian or fruit-and-vegetable options in the Collection's restaurants, Le Gourmet and snack-bar. We are not vegetarians but eat a lot fresh fruit and vegetables, so we had to go to the main hotel's restaurant for lunch, while we would gladly[... read more] eat in the Collection's snack-bar. To have an option of having a simple fresh vegetable salad as entree or main dish (greek or tomatoes/cucumber salad would suffice) and seasonal fruit plate as a desert for lunch and dinner would be great.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Nice family resort of the right size
Rooms were fine and clean and staff kind and helpful. The beach was lovely and readily accessible. One of the big restaurants was closed having been damaged by a recent hurricane leaving the buffet overcrowded at times with long lineups to get food prepared on the spot. This was a turn off for some of us. I wouldn’t recommend it until the other is open again. Otherwise the food was fine for Cuba.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great resort!
Brand new resort. The location is excellent, with most of the villas with rooms that have a ocean view. The rooms are new with all the amenities. Great AC, fridge was stocked daily.
The beach is nice, depends a lot on the weather, the water can be crystal clear or with lots of waves and weeds from the mother nature.
The restaurants can be very busy at certain times, special on high season.
The working staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Great drinks in the lobby and lots of coffee spec[... read more]ialities.
I would definitely recommend it!

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Just okay
FOOD: was okay, but food in buffet was often cold. A la cartes were okay, but Asian was the best.
ROOMS: oceanview is a must!!! Rooms kept clean by amazing staff.
RESORT: Overall, I would give this resort a 3 or 3 1/2. I have been to other resorts in Cuba that had better food, however, the staff at this resort were amazing! The pool was great and the drinks were very very good.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good value
Great family resort. The beach was fantastic and plenty of seating both at beach and the pool. The entertainment staff worked hard and there was plenty to do. The buffet food was what you would expect in Cuba but we did not go hungry..the 24 hour snack shack was great for the kids with fries, burgers and pizza. The grounds and buildings could use some TLC. Nice and close to airport.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Excellent atmospehere. Amazing beach and awesome entertainment!
Just came back from a week at Melia Jardins. Stayed 24-31 dec. Weather did not cooperate much the first 2 days but glorious after.
Resort is large, I am told , the largest in Cayo Coco or even Cuba. So be prepared to walk a lot. There are shuttles running back and forth and electric bike Taxi services at night but you may still need to walk quite a bit.
Stayed in block 6. A bit far from lobby and beach but quiet. Shortcut through the pool was good. Walking was tricky at night as you would n[... read more]eed some added lighting - we used our phones for flashlight .
1st night they had the massive party on the beach which was something else. Totally rockin and just incredible atmosphere. Blistered my toes from all the dancing:)
Food:
Its Cuba, and for someone who doesn't eat pork or shelllfish, i still was able to find things to eat and be satisfied. Yes, the food is bland at times but they do have salt and pepper at the tables and loads of sauces to drench your food with by the salad bar. Juices did leave much to be desired - bland and pretty much aweful ( papaya especially).
Ala Cart restaurants. Hit and Miss. We went to International, Asian and Mediterranean where we only really enjoyed the Mediterranean - great food. Rest were mediocre at best. Avoid the pad thai appetizer at the Asian. imagine fried spaghetti with some sauce which leaves a bitter aftertaste in your mouth.
Buffet had always something to eat and variety is sufficient for even the picky eaters. Pasta stations were always busy but if you go later, you won't wait for too long.
Pools and Beach:
beach is amazing. Water is a little cool as its December but you get used to it quickly. Water is clear and sand is soft. Not too many shells or corals to get in the way. Snorkeling is somewhat limited as there's not much to see. You will find the occasional starfish though.
the beach itself is wonderful as it rests in this long bay protected from the waves. Great for long walks and getting your daily steps in. Lots to see at the points. very picturesque. For a high season, there were lots of spaces on the beach under the shaded covers. Lots of loungers for everyone. If you wanted quiet you could walk a little further toward the points where no one would be around you.
Pools are great. We were on the right side of the resort - from the lobby ( East Side I think) where the music was loud and the pool bar teaming with people. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Entertainment staff kept it moving.
Entertainment:
What do you expect. its Cuba! top notch entertainment to say the least! The shows were breathtaking. Great dancing and acrobatics and showmanship. We loved the fantasy night where it seemed like a circus du Soleil production with story telling through ballet and intricate costumes. It was amazing to see the talent displayed on stage.
After the show the staff set up an outdoor party with a DJ who kept us dancing until 11pm. So much fun.
The animation staff was also superb, always getting you up and dancing. Special thanks to Darius!
Rooms:
Specious and with decent A/C. the beds were hard and pillows flat but, surprisingly, we slept well.
Only drawback... the water activities center was closed that week. There was a notice on the door that due to winds exceeding 27km/h the center is closed. I was really hoping to use the kayaks and catamarans. oh well, something to look forward to next time.
We really enjoyed our stay. We will be back!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Better than i expected but not great!
Other than the food and public bathrooms we still managed to enjoy our holiday. My husband and i are very simple eaters and we had a very hard time finding stuff to eat we liked. The public bathrooms didn't flush as they were on the back of the toilets made of plastic and they were all broken and the poor girls had to keep cleaning them out. The bar tenders in the sportsbar were great but the ones in the lobby seemed to bypass you if you didn't have money in your hand to tip. Melia Costa Rey: Wonderful staff, top-notch room, great beach
We really enjoyed our two week stay at the Pullman. I thought that the staff were particularly good, especially in the buffet. For example, they would bring you coffee soon after you sat down for breakfast and would refill your cup as soon as needed. The story was similar with the wine at lunch/dinner and we found the servers to be accommodating to our needs and very pleasant. Also, I found the cleaning staff, particularly those who made up the rooms each morning, did a top notch job. The ro[... read more]om was fairly large, modern and in our case, overlooked the ocean, which was ideal.
We loved the beaches, which allowed us to walk for a number of kilometres in one direction. My husband played volley ball most days, which he loved, and I really enjoyed the stretching/meditative yoga.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good resort, great people!
This was our seventh trip to Cuba, but only the first one to Cayo Coco, we were really looking forward to it as winter has started early in Ontario this year. Hotel is located close to the Jardines Del Ray airport, the transfer was quite painless as it took only 15-20 minutes to get to the resort.
On our arrival, check-in was smooth and quick, but the rooms we were assigned in block 8 were not what we expected: one of the rooms was infested with mosquitoes, we asked for it to be changed and w[... read more]hile initially we were told that change was not possible, in the end resort agreed to switch it to block 2 which was much, much better. We kept the second room in block 8 for the first night, but the next day we found out that the whole building was out of hot water, so we asked for the second room to be changed as well - and have managed to get the resort to move us to block 2 again. Fawlty Towers part of our vacation was hence over, and we were able to fully enjoy both the resort and the beach to the fullest. Only later we found out that apparently half of the resort is renovated (blocks 1-5) to 4+ Cuban stars level while the rest of the resort (6-10) is pretty much a 3 star. My rating reflects the rooms in block 2 in which we stayed most of our vacation.
Food was tasty, although variety was somewhat lower than in other resorts we've been to in Cuba. We visited two of the four themed restaurants (Creole and Italian), and those were good as well. Entertainment was excellent, great shows, and a great Christmas beach party organized with two other resorts (Pestana and Melia) along the beach, with a great stage and sound system that was set up just for the occasion, with what we were told were some of the best Cuban bands performing.
In conclusion, great beach, good resort, friendly people and reasonably competent staff. We did not feel pressured to tip, but did it for most of the services we received and it was appreciated whatever the amount.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Beautiful facility that needs some changes
The positives of this resort are the rooms(one of the best I have stayed at in Cuba), the beach which is awesome with plenty of chairs to go around and the three beautiful pools. The grounds are well manicured with lots of friendly staff.
The downside to this resort is definitely the food, specifically the buffet. I have never complained about food in Cuba, because you are in Cuba, but the kitchen set up and lack of hot food was definitely a let down for an otherwise great resort. You have to b[... read more]attle to get to the food, and, when you finally get it, it's cold. Also, the kitchen tended to run out food items like rolls and fruit and forget juice because it was always empty. This would keep me from returning again.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Food the biggest downfall!
This is a review based on the 24 hours we stayed at the Memories Caribe. The overall impression on arrival was good, but it didn't last. The grounds are very well kept and the common areas were reasonably clean. The room was nice and the view from the room was good (facing the lagoon block 20). The quirky part of the room was, not only was there no bathroom door, but not even a door separating the toilet, hope you don't mind hearing your spouse have a bowl movement!
The lobby is a giant waste[... read more] of space. The "lobby bar" isn't even in the lobby but down a hallway and is so small that it only has room for about 30 people. There is an outside area but there is no access directly from the bar, you have to leave the bar, walk back towards the lobby, around the corner to get to it. I can only assume that that is why no glasses are allowed out there, bit of a strange layout.
The food. This was the deal breaker for us. The buffet restaurant was sad. There is obviously a lack of talent leading the kitchen. The lunch and dinner were almost identical in selections. The biggest let down was the meat and seafood. The only prepared meat dishes were simply hacked up chicken or pork, still on the bone, roasted. The sea food was sad. Tiny clams and crab with no meat in them and a very limited supply of fish or meat at the tiny fresh cooked stations. I wondered why everyone was lining up for fresh cooked stuff, but soon found out that is the only way to get anything other than rice and veg or something you had to fight to get off a bone.
The final straw was the breakfast. I was greeted at the hot table by a pan of bacon that was not just under cooked but actually RAW. The kicker was I saw one of the chefs come out and look at it, someone must have said something, and he turned around and walked away leaving it in there.
That was it, I couldn't eat there for nine days knowing this was what was on offer, it was illness waiting to happen. It kind of explained why the snack bar guy was doing so many burgers and fries all the time. I should have known when we sat down at dinner and there was only 1 knife and 1 fork on the table, no spoons, no dessert forks, no extra utensils like at every other resort buffet I have ever been to.
So by 2 pm the second day we were moved to another resort thanks to the very hard working and understanding Sunwing Rep Betty, we can't thank her enough and the staff of the Melia Cayo Coco who were able to find us a room on such short notice. Betty and Sunwing saved our holiday.
Bottom line, until they do something about the food situation I would never go back or recommend this resort to anyone and I think Sunwing should reconsider what they are selling to people when it comes to this resort.

Resort very clean, beds are comfy, water pressure is great and always lots of hot water. Staff are very friendly and very helpful, Food was not very good at all. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Good vacation
Group of 4 (2 couples) all had a lovely, relaxing vacation.
Check in/out. Easy, efficient.
Rooms were fine. Great water pressure, lots of hot water, clean. Bed a bit hard.
Resort grounds well maintained, pool fine. Not all public bathrooms in working order. Our only complaint.
Beach awesome.
Food was fine, much better than other resorts we've been to.
Staff absolutely wonderful.
