Myself and my two sisters just returned from spending a week in Punta Cana at the Iberostar Dominicana. We had an awesome time. The staff were wonderful. Food was great. The pool and beach was amazing, lots of chairs and space for everyone. We enjoyed our vacation and look forward to going back one day.

JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar: A Grand Vacation
An excellent resort, very compact , well laid out. Amazing crystal clear ocean with a soft shallow beach about a kilometre long. The room is big and comfortable but the hallways need updating as the carpet is worn down and looks tired. The choice and variety of food is excellent throughout all the restaurants. Overall Iberostar Grand is a lovely resort, very clean, breathtaking views and with excellent supportive staff, but the resort is starting to look tired.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not a 4 star resort - Maybe a 2 star
Went to the resort for a destination wedding of my Niece May 27 - June 3, 2017.
What a "NIGHTMARE" from day 1.
Rooms: Very 1st Day - No air-conditioning. Got another room the next day. The room had ants coming out of the sink and on the room floor. Cockroaches in the bathroom. The maid forgot to replace the towels - had to go ask for them.
Food: Terrible - same food in the buffet - full of flies and birds all over the place. Most of us got sick (diarrhea) due to the food being infested with [... read more]the flies. The Japanese was the only good restaurant. The snack bar (24 hours) had stale burgers (half cooked) & fries. The servers (cooks) expected tips if you needed fresh food. Had to pay for fish (snapper).
Pools: Dirty: not being cleaned. Had to inform the personnel of someone "Pooh" in the pool. Stunk of pee.
Beach - this was amazing.
Entertainment: was good and the entertainment staff were amazing.
Reception staff were amazing too.
Wi-Fi: had to buy cards but most of the time would not connect and the card would say time run out.
Overall: This is not a 4 - Star resort but a 2 - Star.
Note: I had contacted the agent Tammy before we left regarding the ratings and was told not to look at the ratings and that this was an amazing resort - full of crap. If I could, I would have asked for a full refund the very next day I was there.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: The best resort in Cuba!
It is my fourth time going to this resort with family and friends. I have been in Cuba 17 times and i surely can say this resort is one of the best. I cannot have enough of the beautiful beach and the gardens of the hotel. The staff is very nice and the hotel is very clean. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for people that like privacy. The name of the hotel used to be Royal Hideways and it is as such.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Iberostar Playa Alameda - Ok
We chose this resort because it was an Iberostar. We were there 4 years earlier and were very impressed with the grounds, services, food, and room conditions. My how things can change in that time. The maid never once gave us clean sheets. Our fridge was not stocked on a daily basis. I broke my arm while falling on a wet drink spilled dance floor when we just got to the resort. The font desk Manager Judith Guerra is one miserable woman, who didn't seem to care about anyone, leaves me to think [... read more]how she ever got her position in the first place.
Don't get me wrong, the people who serviced us otherwise were terrific and very accommodating. The whole resort is undergoing renovations, thus they didn't care to have the cable working in our room.
Once again, we chose the resort for the brand name and reputation of fine quality service. Surely we should have been told that is was now owned by the Cuban government and was being renovated to be renamed.
Absolutely great service from Trip Central, whom we will look at using again for our Christmas adventure, but we will never stay here again.
Just a word of advice, check and make sure your resort is what its supposed to be, not just selling the brand without the service that is supposed to go with it.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: 3rd Time and so Disappointed
The Hotel itself is beautiful. However this time it didn't make up for the poor service. I came across many rude servers often acting as though what you asked for was too much to ask. Was told multiple time NO to simple things like water.
The buffet was covered in flies and birds eating the food and drinking water from the ice cream scoops.
Our room smelled of mold and I didn't realize how bad it was until I got home opened my suitcase and that's all I could smell.
There were prostitute[... read more]s on the resort trying to instigate trouble with our party.. so ladies watch your men.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: First love!
We've just returned from a beautiful vacation.
This was the third time we were at this resort. It is obvious we like it, at least we liked it the first time we visited it.
It was 2004; and the hotel was quite new. Rooms were nice, no musty smell, no worn mattresses, the staff very friendly, the beach was beautifull and the food outstanding. It was what we hoped for.
The second time, in 2008, it was different. The room was sub par; smelled of tabaco and mold, mattress was old and worn as if [... read more]a huge weight had crushed all the springs and the A/C was almost nonexistent. The rest: staff, food and beaches were the same: nice, tasty and beautiful as before.
This year we decided to go back since we still had the good feeling from the first time we were there. We went for the superior room. We asked the travel agent if the term "superior" means a renovated room. The lady confirmed it, and indeed it was.
Iberostar Daiquiri is a medium size resort; beautifully maintained by a handfull of gardiners that work really hard and they are rarely appreciated. It has a cozy lobby with access to the main bar where you can have almost any drink you would want. The main hotel is right above it. In addition there are villas that have main + two floors. They are lovely!
We stayed in villa Varadero on the top floor with an ocean view. The room was spacious, very nicely renovated, with modern bathroom, king size mattress that felt new and firm yet very comfortable, plasma TV, small fridge, a couch and an armchair with a type of ottoman. The A/C was in good working condition, silent and efficient,
Housekeeping staff is very nice, thorough, non intrusive and quiet. You can have your siesta undisturbed even if they work next door. We ran into this issue at some other resort.
The room was our main concern. We knew that the beach and the food will be good if not great, so after we saw the room we knew that it was worth returning to our first love.
There was another good surprize: all the resorts contributed to the enhancement of the beaches on Cayo Guilermo's North side. Now the beach is approximately 20 meters wide, about 3 km long and has beautiful white sand.
The water is perfect, you have all kind of places to snorkel and there are thousands of fish around (barracudas included). You can fish to your heart's content, or just enjoy the sun. There are plenty of activities you can engage in, and all kind of excursions you can buy. We preferred to remain in the resort and relax.
There is a dedicated space for kids to play in with all kind of gadgets, as well as a shallow pool for them to enjoy.
There are two other pools where the adults can soak up to the point when the afternoon entertainment takes over. In one of the pools there is a bar and you can sit and drink as much liquid as you can.
If you like table tenis, pool, volleyball, badminton, beach ball or target shooting, there are places for all those activities.
There are 4 restaurants (I hope I'm not mistaken): one on the beach - very nice - where you eat a delicious lunch if you don't want to dress up. If you do, then you can go to the main restaurant for lunch. There is a 24 hour snack bar at the pool as well. There is a Mexican restaurant that is open only for dinner. At dinner time the restaurant on the beach changes into a la carte Cuban restaurant.
We did not go to any of them since the buffet is soooo good that booking the a la carte restaurant seems a waste of time.
One thing though, I'm not sure why the fish tastes as if it is old frozen. We had a very nice memory of filets of fish on the barbecue served in the beach restaurant that tasted great. This time, not so much. The other items on the menu were perfect though so we compensated with those.
As you can probably see, we do like this resort a lot, however we did see some things that were not professional and could have been a motive for complaints. For example: reusing the mint from a used glass from which someone drank a Mojito (saw it once, maybe it happens more often - management please look into this). I wouldn't have wanted to drink that. Or an alcoholless Mojito, it wasn't worth the one pesos I tiped the staff. By the way, that drink was prepared by someone else than the bartender since he was occupied speaking with a person at a table, and he did that for about 5 minutes; he ignored all of his clients.
When we arrived this year to this very nice resort, we saw a lot of the old guard still working there. This may be a very good thing: All of the staff know their jobs. On the other hand, they may take their job security for granted as well as they gathered enough money from tips over the years that they see themselves as rich and untouchable; and they will have an atitude towards customers that may harm the good name of the company.
Another thing, the rag they use to wipe the tables with, should be washed clean with soap at least every second round; you cannot imagine how many germs can be on that piece of cloth.
The cushions on the couches in the hallway, mainly the ones going to the main restaurant are not the cleanest to be moderate.
In the room, there can be a unpleasant smell emanating from the washroom. It can be easily avoided by pooring water in the floor drain under the sink. It seems everyone is forgetting about that one and it dries up and allows smell to come into your room.
In conclusion, Iberostat Daiquiri is a lovely resort, where we'll return with great pleasure. It has one of the nicest beaches in Cuba - even though they say that Playa Pilar is nicer - lots of places to sun bathe or lie in the shade. It is smaller than the other newer ones, and because of this doesn't run into their problem of not having enough food ready for the patrons to eat come feeding time. It offers a variety of food and it is only a matter of you using your imagination to combine them and create a complete and very satisfying meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner or anywhere in between. Drinks are plentiful and diverse. The superior rooms - little more expensive than the standard - are very nice (make sure you have a normal fridge not an ecological one if you want to have cold water to drink). I don't have to remind you to bring bug spray to kill mosquitoes in the room and some Off for when you are sitting at the bar at night. They have a pharmacy, it is advisable though, to bring whatever medicine you think you might need since the prices are spiced up. The safe in the room you have to pay 2 pesos per day to use. The people at the reception desk will give you the code once you pay.
I hope this helped you decide to book your vacation at this beautiful welcoming resort. Have a great vacation!!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: beautiful resort
we were there for the wedding, the resort is very nice. I think some of the staff are not so nice. there is one guy in the beach area where he has coconut with him for the guest. but he is asking really for a fee, he said coconut is not for free I need tip. For me tip is fine but it should be given voluntarily for your extra ordinary service. For me it is fine, if its not free, put a tag price on it, so guest will not expect it to be free. other than that I think everything is okay..

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Excellent Accomodations and Amenities.
My wife Debra and I have visited at least 5 other resorts in Jamaica between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay and found Iberostar Suites to be in the top 2! The amenities and overall layout of the resort is nothing less than amazing! The serving staff did a great job at the Bar, the Suite and the Buffet and A La Carte.
My wife and I were was not as impressed with the personal chatter and hang out of staff in the buffet and other open areas. They assumed we did not understand the words they are using;[... read more] however, it was filled with expletives and chatter about other people and their own personal lives off the resort.
While we do not expect a regimented and robot behaviour from humans, we expect them to be more discreet.
The one thing that had me truly bothered was watching two maintenance workers in the main lobby with a (approximate) 12 feet ladder, changing or cleaning either the fire/smoke alarm sensor or whatever it was, in the ceiling, which required one of them to actually climb unto the last rung of the ladder, stretching his full body up to the ceiling, with no protective restraints to get to the object. I watched with horror at the possibility of him falling to his death in front of guests, especially children. I believe there was no thought of safety from the two staff and the resort would be liable.
other than the things mentioned above, I absolutely love the building, food and drinks and the service overall. I have already recommended the resort to my family, co-workers and friends in Canada where I reside. absolutely beautiful at the suites. I will try the Grande on my next visit.

Hotel Mojito: Great Resort.
The resort was showing its age however, the employees were very diligent in making sure the rooms were clean and neat. While I was there, I witnessed some upgrades to a nearby room so they are trying to upgrade the resort. Also while I was there, the power went out for about 1/2 hr at night, island wide, which made things rather dark. The resort has its own generators so there was power in the lobby and some other key areas. The food overall was great. They had a variety of foods to suit al[... read more]most everyone's taste buds. The only complaint I would have is that the El Malecon restaurant in the lagoon area had no screens and was not air conditioned. When we went for dinner there, the mosquitoes were incredibly bad as there was no wind. We found some shelter under the ceiling fans but there were only a few there so there was a lot of competition to sit near them. Screens on the windows would definitely upgrade this restaurant as would more ceiling fans. The piano player was a nice touch and the food there was really good. Visited Freddie in the Cigar Lounge one night. Great place to sit back and unwind. When we were there a local band was playing surprisingly, rock and pop tunes. Good job guys!! Visited the Disco one night to see the show. Some very talented people were performing! The Beach Bar hosted a beach party one night which was awesome! And before we left, the Cuban Thank-you party was great with the bbq'd pork, chicken and fish. Go see the Churro guy - they are awesome! Overall, this resort is not a 5* but definitely a 4* and one we thoroughly enjoyed.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing vacation!
My husband and I visited at the end of May. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the hotel itself is very well laid out so that everything is very accessible, within short distance, when compared with other resorts. Beach is superb, close by to the hotel. From the reviews I read on tripadvisor and the tripcentral websites, I can understand we were very lucky with the room which was fully functional, with AC, safe working, patio door closing, minibar stocked every day, room cleaned up every[... read more] day. All was great. The buffet food was acceptable (yes, there were birds and flies around) and the a la carte restaurants were very good with the exception of the Cuban. Like other reviewers, we enjoyed the Japanese. We went on an excursion to Havana 1 day and it was great. I observed that the staff was very warm, eager to help, they were genuinely interested in us being well taken care of and especially they all seemed very well trained, following processes and procedures in a few instances we tested them unintentionally. We had to visit the doctor for a sunburn issue and the doctor on site was very good and professional. Overall we had a great experience. I mostly enjoyed the entertainment at the pool and aquafit at noon. We made the choice after a lot of research and taking many factors into consideration as we wanted a lively resort, with tennis courts, close to beach and airport and modern outside architecture, and with lots of entertainment. I can say this fit the bill for us and the minor inconveniences did not bother at all. We will definitely go back as it is a good value resort.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Average resort
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. This was our fifth vacation to the D.R. and our first to Ibserostar. The staff overall were warm and professional, especially in the buffet and reception.
This is a relatively small resort, well maintained though rather rundown and dated, overall. Our room was on the top floor with ocean view, which was delightful, but for a five-star resort, the room was pretty basic and the bathroom a big disappointment as it was shabby and old.
For most of our stay we we[... read more]nt to the buffet as the food was good and the staff even better. The Japanese restaurant was very good for food and service but the others were very poor and the service was dreadful in the Mexican restaurant. The cocktail lounge was super and our early morning coffee delicious.
The beach area was a shock to us, as there was actual garbage floating onto the beach, so there were specific areas we would only walk to, in order to swim. Be aware of traders walking up and down the beach all day, they are very Intrusive and annoying.
The evening entertainment was probably the worst we have experienced in the D.R. Totally boring and amateur and so disappointing.
We enjoyed our week at the Iberostar but will not be returning, as it in no way compares to other five-star resorts in the D.R. What put us off most of all, though, were the locals who are allowed to use the resort. They took over the pool and pool bar and were noisy, aggressive and messy. The paying resort quests literally just watched on the sidelines, wondering what on earth was happening. Every time I went to the swim-up bar I was totally ignored as some staff (you know who you are, Ana), chatted and served their friends and treated resort quests with distain. This is completely unacceptable, because this was not a cheap holiday, and we expected a four to five-star exclusive resort. Do be aware of this, as we found out this is a weekly occurrence and it honestly is upsetting. It brings the resort down to a two or three star. We only kept to the beach area because of this, through the day.
Iberostar, you have a lot of improving to do, to even come close to the quality and service other five-star resorts offer! If you want paying guests to return, you need to rethink your policies, as we heard a lot of negative comments from fellow travellers there for the first time, and they were unhappy about the locals using this resort. What excels is your warm, kind and wonderful staff, especially in the buffet, cocktail lounge and reception. A big thank you to Narcisos, Allen, Ifrain!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Not bad for the price
The beaches are amazing, especially Ensenachos. The food however is not good. One of my friends got sick while on the trip and the rooms are a little dated but overall nice stay. The entertainment staff is very nice and fun to talk to and most of them can get by with English.
