Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Won't be back
The hotel was nice enough and the rooms were clean enough. The mini fridge was stocked with no issues. We arrived after 3pm and it still took hours to get a room. Then they gave us the wrong room and it was another long wait to get the correct one. Very poor English comprehension at the front desk. No money to exchange for a few days. Struggled to get more than 1 key for the room. Beach was infested with bugs and the water was disgusting. Looked like mud. Apparently there is huge run of [... read more]
Casa Marina Reef Resort: Good location
Nice resort and well located in Sosua. Beautiful grounds but greater variety and quality of food is needed. Given 2 water bottles when you arrive that can be refilled at water stations that cannot be kept sanitary. Our solution was to buy a large bottle of water at the local corner store down the street and refill our water bottles.
Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: hôtel tres bien
Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: grand bahia principe san juan

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Small Resort nice place
Tips for your stay. 1, Upgrade your room if you can 2. there isn't a cafe it's a machine (not bad) 3. If you like Bailey's you have to pay for it. (or buy it at the Duty free and keep it in your room) 3. BRING YOUR OUR Advil Tylenol etc. it's sold by the pill in the Duty free store (we found it a little odd and expensive). 4. you only get one towel per day (little weird) 5. Everyone has to be present to book an a la cart restaurant (we were 10 so a little inconvenient) There isn't much of [... read more]
Riu Merengue: Not a four star resort
The best thing I can say about this resort is that there are no time share vultures to avoid. The rooms are small, but the balconies are quite roomy, however a working toilet would have been nice. We made a number of calls to get it fixed and were assured they would send someone, no one ever arrived. In the end my husband had to fix it himself. On day three of our vacation we lost hot water, were kept being told it would be fixed soon, when we checked out four days later there was still no hot [... read more]
Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great stay!
Travelled with my adult daughter....we enjoyed the hotel and totally loved the location...right in Sosua! Rooms were clean and comfy...food was good....Beach is nice but lots of waves so tricky for small kids.....Pools are great...Jacuzzis have a view to die for! Public beach beside resort is big and nice...I enjoy locals around during and there wI'll be locals swimming or selling items on the beach. The resort doesn't have 24 hr food or booze but we didn't mind doing as you can walk next doo [... read more]

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: worth money
Spent one week ending December 24th,2016 had a great time, the staff was efficient in fixing minor problems with room, which was kept clean, with daily maid service. There was plenty of food all meals including Snack bar service and the open bar with all kinds of local drinks all included except for imported drinks(you pay) . For me the vacations was very relaxing, and apart from some rain, enjoyed the beach and sunshine.
Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great staff
The grounds were clean and well kept although the beach was not great. The location was a little remote (1h 30m bus ride) but there were plenty of things to do while on the resort grounds. The shows at the end of the night were fun and worth attending, the food was better than expected, and the staff were amazing! My favourite waiter was Wandy who works at the buffet and I always made sure to sit in his section. For the money, it is a decent experience but if you are looking for a gorgeous beach [... read more]
Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Left a lot to be desired
Stay: dec 17-24, 2016. Food selection: good. Dolce Vita was very buggy restaurant, bugs flying around. La Brisa was very good especially at Breakfast (excellent omelette bar) Beach: left a lot to be desired. Sand fleas ate our feet and legs and whole bodies. Public merchants always hounding when got close to Playa Indiana. Staff: very friendly. Evening Circus show was INCREDIBLE! Best show of the week by far. Mini golf/Tennis area: smelled of sewage frequently but sweet mini putt course. [... read more]
Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Good experience
The beach was bad because Dominicain Republic had floods the week before. There were many waves and you could not see ocean floor. Food was good! I enjoyed the japonese restaurant the best because it was very entertaining.
Sunscape Puerto Plata: PUERTO PLAT SUNCAPE TRIP DEC/16
Our trip to Sunscape Puerto Plata was a good one Hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. The only negative would be the service in the Buffet (Windows) We ate at the restaurants for dinner which were very nice during our stay as we thought the buffet could have been better. Over all we would suggest this resort to everyone. There were plenty of activities going on each day from the entertainment group.
Sunscape Puerto Plata: Disappointing!
The food was excellent!! Wifi was available around the pool area and in rooms close to the pool. The beach was rougher than I expected and not clear so snorkeling was unproductive. The "sellers" gave you no rest from their pestering so one could never relax. Our room was beautiful looking but musty smelling and dripping with condensation. Our luggage and clothes were covered in mold after our two week stay. Hotel personnel did nothing to fix the problem. I think they were overbooked.
Sunscape Puerto Plata: GREAT RESORT
The hotel staff were friendly and very efficient when you required service.Staying as a single adult i was not impressed with the Disco ( Sorry what DISCO may be 10 persons ) that has too change along with too many people bugging you to buy stuff on the beach The food was the best i have tried in a while and i mean good , not one complaint from this guy , Dynamite, full service with a smile. The staff would do anything for you to ensure you are content, staff do not bug you for tips , but the [... read more]
Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Not bad
Good 3 star resort. Room 1046 had great air conditioning with mini fridge and obstructed (palm trees) ocean view. Most amenities are close to the nice small private beach. Food is edible, but repetitive with limited selection. Located right in Sosua. Hookers and guys "that can get everything" abound.
Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: OK
Resort grounds were nice. Lots of stairs. Suites were nice and spacious. No night enertainment for adults or kids. Staff was very nice and courteous. Beach was small, but the resort made up for it with the manmaid VIP beach. Over all ok but will not go back.
Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Good but....
We have been to other Riu''s but this one did not live up to it's name. We were in room 823. It was close to all amenities. The room was damp, musty and moldy. The air conditioning was not working. My husband suggested looking at the filter. When the vent was opened and the filter exposed, there was at least an inch of filth clogging it. It took 20 minutes to clean and 5 days for the room to clear of the smell. On the weekend they allow Dominican residents to come in. They were loud, rude to t [... read more]
Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Pleasant Resort
The Be Live Collection Marien, was a very nice resort, with good bang for your buck. The room was large with everything working. Even though it has over 500 rooms, the resort is laid out in a way that it is easy to get around. My husband has a walker so we look for resorts that are not too large with everything spread over a large area. The food was very good a lot of choice, it did become repetitious, but that is the case at most resorts. The resort was not full, but the service was st [... read more]
Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Quiet & Relaxing
This hotel was great. If you want quiet you have it. If you want busy just ask the Entertainment Squad. Lots of games, lots of dancing. Just stay away from very annoying vendors on beach and Time share people around buffet doors !
