Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Fantastic resort

For once, the pictures and the reviews are entirely accurate. It was a truly wonderful 7 day stay and we're even considering returning next year. If you want a peaceful and luxurious getaway, look no further.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Always under construction

Pool was nice but swim up closed for 2 days for construction. Beach was nice but very rocky once in water. Food was delicious but some restaurants closed including buffet during our 10 days stay. No notice in advance as to which would be closed each day. Even music/sports bar closed two nights. Front desk didn't even know. There was construction somewhere in the complex for almost all of our vacation. and we were never notified at time at complex nor when booking (through our agent).  [... read more] First room had great location - especially for sitting with a coffee and watching sun rise. Got moved a few days in - told there was a water issue close to our room - second room was supposed to be an upgrade but it wasn't. Room was identical but ceiling was cracked, lamp shades were stained, view was blocked by trees and floor never got washed (in bathroom) for the entire stay. All that was good was the clean towels daily.

Grand Palladium Colonial: Big resort great time!

Had blast exploring all 3 resorts. Very clean and beautiful. The sports bar has the best food. Great friendly staff and a fantastic pool and nightlife. Downsides were the carts for travel for older people weren't frequent enough and didn't cover enough area. Adults weren't allowed on the waterslides so I could play with my kids, there's no disco, and the buffet didn't change up very much. Also an hour from the airport with a private taxi

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Wonderful Vacation!

We booked last minute and travelled as a couple Mar 4-11. This is a great resort! The food and service were great! Loved the tropical feel of this resort! Unfortunately the main lobby closed for renovations the day before we arrived so we used the Premier Lobby which was a great place to hangout in the evenings and dance to live music. The beach was long with some rocky areas good for relaxing by the ocean. There were numerous sandy protected beach areas great for swimming. The shuttles r [... read more]an constantly between sections and throughout the resorts to the rooms, so you never had to walk if you didn’t want to. There were plenty of warm pools with chairs and shade. We also had access to the Tulum, Coba and Sian Kaan sections. The Akumal section was quieter and had mostly adults. The Sian Kaan is adults only. The Tulum section seemed to have more families and younger adults and the Coba section had more families with a big separate water park area for kids. The buffet had lots of choice everyday. We ate at the a la cartes every night. Great food and drinks all round! Lots to see and do. The staff were all wonderful! We would definitely recommend this resort and will be returning!

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Incredible Resort!

The resort was excellent!! Food was top notch, staff was friendly and catered to every need. The rooms, restaurants and grounds were very clean. Many different food options for every palate. I have been to this resort twice and would go back again!!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great resort

We had an amazing time at this resort! The beach was beautiful and clean, food was great with lots of choices at the buffet. We liked that you can go between the two resorts on golf carts. Rooms were good and lots of wildlife! Although we were not happy to see that they had dolphins kept within the resort. We would still go back again!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Very Busy Resort

We were one of the first vacationers in 1999 when the first Barcelo opened on the Mayan Riviera, so we thought we would revisit, we usually vacation in Puerto Vallarta. It is now 6 resorts in a row and is very busy! Transport from the airport took approximately an hour. Check-in was fast and front desk employees were very helpful and always courteous. I actually had to go to the front desk and ask for it to be cleaned, we weren't impressed with that. We ran out of shower gel and it was not filled. We booked our a la cartes on arrival and at the same desk had our internet connection established, there is a cost for that, again, not impressed. The first 3 nights we ate supper at the A La Cartes and found them not to be what we like so the rest of our stay we ate at the buffet. There was always lots of food with a good selection, some nights better than others. I had one night that I was sick to my stomach, I assumed it was food poisoning because after my stomach was emptied I felt fine and got up the next day feeling O.K.You definitely will not go hungry, just be careful of what you eat. The only thing we did not like was that the buffet was very busy, we quickly learned for all meals to go early to beat the crowd. We spent most of our days on the beach, most days it was very windy, some days with sand blowing in our faces. The water was lovely and warm to swim in, you just have to watch where you enter as there are a lot of rocks. There were always loungers to be found there, the pools were a different matter, loungers were being saved the night before with people's towels and very crowded so we avoided them. There is a lot of things to do if you don't like staying on the beach like us. They have a bowling alley, small skating rink, mini-golf, go-carts, zip-lining, casino, shopping, and many off-resort excursions. If you like to be active on your holiday or have children you will really enjoy this resort. We found being an older couple that it was way too busy for us. With that being said we still had a good holiday.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Solid 4 star

Great location, short walk to beach, nice pools - could have used more loungers, if you didn't reserve one by 6 am most were gone, not enough loungers on beach as well, only 2 per palapa, not ideal fo family of 5. Nice beach, great for walks, only a little seaweed. Food was good overall but at lunch beach grill lacked variety, and main buffet was noisy, daisy grill was small and hit or miss. Lots of choices for dinner but again you had to be there early if you wanted a specific time, did not li [... read more]ke having to rush down every night with kids only to find out we couldn't eat till 8:30 (privilege can make reservations) Had fun bowling, watching shows, enjoying drinks and music at he lobby in the evening. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing family vacation

From start to finish everything was amazing! It was our 7th trip to this resort and they really brought it home this time. Ocean view room with great entertainment and games to play pool side. Every day there was food set up pool side, games for the kids and volleyball for my teenager. Restaurants were easy to book with Butler Darwin. He basically made our trip easy and care free to enjoy. Excited for next year when we can return

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Not the greatest

It is an intimate smaller restort, The beach was a long distance from the rooms, The restaurants are not good, and the buffet the line up are too long, The service personnel were great, but the staff that works in the hotel lobby were actually quite rude, I will not go back

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Will go back

We enjoyed our fifth stay at Valetin. Would recommend it to all. Friendly staff, good food and beautiful grounds made for an excellent stay. We will be celebrating 25 years of marriage next year at this establishment.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Awesome vacation

Hotel was great, lots to do, beautiful pools and great beaches. The food was amazing and the service was great. The rooms are fine - nice and clean - but not on a par with the rest of the resort. Staff were great. Most amenities were included, there weren’t a huge number of things you had to pay out of pocket for.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Will Definately Return to this Resort

This was our first trip to Mexico, and although we were somewhat hesitant in making our decision to head there for our Winter vacation this year, finally made the travel arrangements, and we are very glad that we did choose to visit this area :) Everything went quite smoothly from the flight down from Toronto, to the transportation to the resort via Best Day transportation. When we arrived, there was a bit of a wait to get checked in, but no big deal....Traveling is all about waiting :) I had [... read more] requested a Junior suite with King bed on upper level, and they didn't have a King bed available at the time of check in on an upper level, which once again wasn't a big deal...We settled for a junior suite with two double beds which worked out just fine. The food at the resort was just fine, we ate at the Buffet each morning, and we were able to check out most of the ala carte restaurants as well. Very nice not having to reserve these restaurants in advance, with the exception of one of them. We had great dinners at all of the ones that we were able to check out. The service at the one swim up bar was good, but it was quite busy at times which was understandable. Once again, no problem. Definitely a great resort for being able to get lots of exercise by simply walking around and exploring. The beach was also very enjoyable for a nice long walk. The weather was excellent for the entire 8 days that we were there, but the water on the Caribbean was pretty rough for the most part. We're not much for swimming in the Ocean anyway, so once again not an issue. We checked out by noon on the day that we were heading home, and our pickup was supposed to be at 1:20pm The Best Day travel van showed up about 30 minutes late, but we still made it to the airport in lots of time, and weren't rushed to get through airport. All in all, this was a most enjoyable trip, and we look forward to returning to Mexico again in the not to far off future. El Dorado Seaside Suites: Great relaxing place!

The Tui Sensimar part of the resort is in pristine condition. The food is very good and consistent especially the a la carte restaurants. We were here last year and the beaches are even cleaner. The 13 bars are filled with top shelf alcohol and the bartenders love mixing drinks that are not diluted. The service is superb. The staff always have a smile whether you tip or not. Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Friendly helpful staff

Hotel was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A lot of fun activities to do around the resort. Food was alright. Buffet had a nice selection to choose from. Try to get to buffet earlier than later. It’s harder to get refills on coffee when they are slammed.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Wonderful resort!

This was our first all inclusive resort. It's very large one but they have golf carts that run every 15 minutes to drive you around. The building we stayed in had a pool close by. It was a 20 minute walk to the beach and other pools. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. There are several restaurants to choose from and a plenty of food choices for every palate. There are shows in the bar every night. Each night is a different theme with great music.

Hyatt Vivid Playa Del Carmen: Exceptional Resort

This Resort was top notch. From the service, beautiful rooms and grounds this Resort exceeded our expectations. The restaurants were wonderful and the staff were exceptional. Best coffee and ice cream shop. It was just the right size not too big and not too small. If you are looking for relaxation and pampering this is the place to go!

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Third time at this resort, only one complaint

This was our third time staying at the Royal Hideaway Playacar (we've gone each February for the past 3 years). The food, drinks, rooms, grounds, and staff are all amazing, and the resort has such a charming, intimate feel to it because it is so small (about 200 rooms). My only complaint is about the canvas sun shades/canopies on the beach. This hotel is distinct because it has one of these for each set of chairs on the beach (most other resorts don't have this). When we first came here in Febru [... read more]ary 2018, every single set of chairs on the beech had one. When we returned in February 2019 we noticed that some of the canopies were not in working order and had not been replaced, and some chairs were missing canopies altogether. On our recent return trip in February 2020, I was shocked that there were hardly any canopies at all. I estimate that only 20% of the chairs had them, which meant you needed to get up before the sun to reserve your chairs on the beach if you wanted one. This luxury resort is doing itself a disservice by not replacing the canopies. We want to return in February 2021, but I'm worried that there will be no canopies on the beach at all. In order to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable day at the beach, there has to be shade options for every chair.

Allegro Playacar: Great time!

Lovely resort, well kept grounds, good food and excellent staff. The room was modern and fresh and the beds very comfortable. Restocking the water, coffee and fridge were a bit inconsistent. If someone had mobility issues they may find the stairs to the upper units and the walk down to the beach a bit of a challenge - slight slope heading toward the pools and beach. Would certainly travel back to the Allegro.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Nice resort

Well kept grounds. Friendly staff. We were a bit disappointed with the beach. There is no shade. Tall skinny palm trees don't provide any shade. Therefore we would park our stuff by the pools where the shade is minimal and walk to beach to swim. Why are there no palapas? I have never been to a resort with no palapas.
