Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Very pleasant resort and people

We enjoyed the resort. The room was spotless and the bed and bedding was fabulous. Unfortunately the food was just OK. The Spanish restaurant was good. The Japanese restaurant was very poor. The hostess was rude and you could smell rancid oil in the restaurant. The a la carte restaurant was pleasant for breakfast.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Favorite Resort

Top notch service, very clean, very satisfied. First trip here in 2012 and never stopped thinking about this resort. We traveled to other resorts in area but found this our favorite. Since they renovated there are more pools and never looking for an open chair as you will have many options. Best beach, food and accommodations. We recommend Jolly Roger Pirate Ship dinner cruise for an excursion and the Ruins that were discovered in 1995 (Ek Balam) Can't wait to return in another year. Occidental Caribe: great resort

This hotel is great.The food is great so is the superior rooms so is the cleanliness.The staff is very friendly and very devoted.The beach is excellent except for some seaweeds on some days.The best feature of this hotel is the layout wich provides pool view as well as ocean view from the main buffet the main bars and the beach bar.The Tokio a la carte restaurant is excellent and so is the Marenostrum restaurant.Do not book the regular rooms because they are a bit run-down.I have been there 7 ti [... read more]mes from 2009 including 2 times in 2015.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great Stay!

Had a nice time at the resort. Overall it was very clean and quite beautiful. We stayed at the Maya Colonial which we found out once we got there was the last resort to be renovated (there are 4 sister resorts). Once we walked around the grounds and saw the other resorts we realized that we could've stayed at a much nicer resort. The Maya Colonial is one of the more expensive places to stay but paled in comparison to the other beautiful, newly updated resorts next door. Wish we would have known  [... read more]that. The rooms on the ground floor flooded. Thankfully we were on the second floor but kept hearing stories from other guests we travelled with of flooded rooms. A La Carte restaurants were nice. I would definitely go back, just wouldn't stay at the Colonial.

Barcelo Huatulco: Nice Resort

Almost completed their major renovations which have totally rejuvenated the resort. Great beach, probably best on the bay, and beautiful warm and clear water. They need to get some extra training for their bartenders. Friendly staff and well maintained room - best water pressure in shower of any previous Mexican/Caribbean trip. All things being equal, we would definitely return to this hotel.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Fantastic resort

Let me first mentiob the staff, particularly Yuni Eusebio who took care of my son when he hurt himself on the second day of our trip. He arranged the trip to the clinic and was quite helpful. Manuel Guillandeaux was also helpful. The staff called for the next three days to check on my son's recuperation which was very much appreciated. The grounds were immaculate, the hotel was clean, the beach was wonderful, chairs around the pool were always available.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Nice place, service was OK.

Nice resort, more amenities on the side with families. Service at the bar was lacking. Would have been nice to have a swim up bar at the adults only resort. Would have been nice if WiFi was included in the price of the resort.

Occidental Caribe: Very nice resort

Upon arriving for check in, we found that only 2 of our rooms were ready and they did not have another room in the same vicinity until the next day. That was fine but the room they gave for the night appeared to not have been cleaned. Once moved the next day, all was better and the rooms were nice. The food was just okay, as it seemed to be the same daily. The Japanese alacarte was amazing and all around service was good, but some of the wait staff could have at least smiled and been a bit frien [... read more]dlier. All in all we had a good time with the group of 7 we went with.

Barcelo Solymar: Barcelo Solymar

I have stayed here several times and as much as I love the hotel and the staff, the hotel is not being taken care of. My room wasn't cleaned daily, the air conditioner didn't work properly and caused daily flooding in the room. The pool could have used some cleaning. Overall, the staff at this hotel are amazing and are the best part of the trip and it's in a perfect location from the nightlife of varadero.

Barcelo Solymar: Beautiful beach, decent resort

The beach and ocean are so lovely all up and down the peninsula. The resort itself was totally fine, no big issues. The buffet on the Arenas Blancas side was better. The a la carte restaurants were pretty good. We booked a bungalow close to the beach and enjoyed not being in the main building, though if you like being more central to the buffet, desk, etc., the rooms in the main building are nice too (probably a bit nicer). Barcelo Solymar: Worth the Money

Well situated, close to Varadero, with a spectacular beach layout. Hotel is a bit dated and in need of renovations. The week we were there the main building had no air conditionning. We we're lucky enough to be transferred to one of the free standing bungalows that were well laid out, clean and...cool. Staff is friendly. Food is average with the breakfast portion being the weakest link.

Occidental Caribe: Beautiful resort and beach

We had a great time. The resort was lovely and the beach is beautiful. We enjoyed the food and restaurants. Wonderful service. We would recommend this resort to all our family and friends. Thank you Barcelo for a wonderful vacation

Occidental Caribe: Beautiful place but poor service

Was there with my boyfriend for my 30th birthday, stayed from Oct 26- Nov 2. The rooms and resort are beautiful, ocean was super rough, food not so great and service and English of staff not so good. The staff seems annoyed to even be there. We originally had a great room but facing a pool they were doing construction on which we weren't even aware there was construction at the resort until we arrived, asked to change rooms and while doing so at the front desk the man blatantly started speaking  [... read more]in Spanish about us to another employee. Not much air conditioning throughout the grounds. The casino is small and the staff there are unwelcoming and don't greet or speak to you nicely. I know it was the week of Halloween but I felt like they were zombies that couldn't speak. Of all my travels this was the first time I was happy to go home. WILL NOT be going back to dominican again my advice is stick to Cuba or Mexico where the beach is better and so are the people. Also in dominican they hassle you to buy souvenirs and want to charge extreme and outrageous prices so if you are not comfortable negotiatin prices then don't bother. Do not get a message on the beach it is not private and everyone can see.

Barcelo Solymar: I loved it all!

I loved this resort, the staff were amazing. They allowed us to change rooms just to have a higher balcony and everything was taken care of promptly. The layout was awesome and the beach was amazing. I took part in many of the games and it really added some laughs to our trip. The food is what you could expect but I found many items and a la carte dinners to be quite good. I would go back anytime!

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: EXPANSIVE ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT

The resort includes a beautiful new wing that is expansive and housed a modern disco and casino. Well manicured lawns and music along the pathways. The food is excellent. We stayed at the adult section and enjoyed the Caribbean trilogy - lobster, shrimp and crab.

Got back 2 weeks ago. Travelled from Aug.28-Sept.11/2015. Sunwing staff AWESOME! Resort staff AWESOME! Alexis you are the best, always took good care of our mini-bar ! Shout out to Genny at reception! She rocks! Beach Breath Taking! Nautica staff SUPERSTARS! Love all 6 of them (Norbert, Rolando, Hector, Jorge, my Niño (Anthony) and Hello! Hello!) Beach bar awesome! They know how to take care of you! Animation was a lot of fun! "Trouble" is an awesome dancer! Pool bar at night, bartender is amaz [... read more]ing! Buffet staff are great! Shout out to Heity!!! 5 months pregnant and she was amazing!!!! Betsy at the lobby bar was great! And the Security staff, TOTALLY AWESOME! Shout out to Alexander, Nainyelt, Niño, Giovel, Eli, Jose, Jasmany and all the rest. They are discreet but always around. Always felt safe! Can't say it enough: they are TOTALLY AWESOME!!!! Stayed in the hotel, 4th floor, oceanview. Our chambermaid was TOTALLY AWESOME!!!! Don't remember her name, but sounds like Marsy.... They turn off the AC in the rooms during the day. Goes back on around 7pm. Frustrating when you go to your room earlier. AC in Buffet barely works. Made it really difficult to sit and eat. Thank God for awesome staff! Unfair for them to work under those conditions. You must try , 10 minutes walking distance from Barceló, Meson del Quijote, as long as you have Lazaro as your waiter. You will meet him on the beach during the day! You must try Dante's and Varadero 60!!!! Before I forget, we met a few people that stayed in the bungalows and there was no issues with the AC. Because of the staff, we will definitely go back. Hopefully AC will be fixed.

Barcelo Solymar: Hotel needs improvement but....

Aside for the air condition that was turned OFF everyday from 10 am to 5 pm, so much for afternoon naps! The rest was good, the staff was amazing and the beach breathtaking! Dollars for value it was a great and fun trip!!!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Paradise

It was our fourth time at the Barceló. We love the beach (the seaweed is unfortunate, but the staff works very hard to keep it pristine). The pools are large and have been designed so well with beautiful plants surrounding them. The grounds are clean and the food is lovely. One drawback is that the entertainment, while very good, is extremely loud.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Fantastic Resort!!

This was our first trip together as a couple and the resort was absolutely perfect! We got a room over looking the ocean in the adults only section, and the room was very clean and so was the resort. The beach was phenomenal, they would have the seaweed cleaned up before 7am, when you walk along the beach to the other resorts you see how awesome Barcelo Bavaro is!! The Adults only pool was a bit quiter as well, but the swim up pool bar was more eventful if that is what you are into! Great staff, [... read more] so many choices for the a la cartes - the Japanese one is great even though it is extra. Even the buffets had very good food - fresh seafood, chicken, beef, whatever you like! The resort is very big so you get the exercise walking around, but they do also have a train to take you around the resort every 10 minutes. We did the Snuba tour and speed boat which was extremely fun, they put on a good trip!! Would definitely recommend this resort to anyone - couples will definitely enjoy! We will be coming back here to enjoy again next year :)

Occidental Caribe: 4 stars hotel.

Food was horrible. Really bad customer service. The hotel has weekend packages for people living there who have very bad manners. They behave really bad and the hotel look like a 2 stars hotel during the weekend.
