Palace St. Martin: A mixed review of this resort.

We had a mixed review of this resort. Pros: Beautiful scenery and beach. The gardens and grounds are lovely and well maintained. There is a good variety of food at the buffet restaurant. Many of the staff are helpful and friendly. The large infinity pool was quite nice, with a view of the ocean. Rooms were cleaned and restocked in a timely manner. A calm and peaceful atmosphere. Cons: Rooms would benefit from updating. The air conditioning could have been more effective (didn't circulate  [... read more]well throughout the room). No hair dryers in the room. Check-in process was very slow. The beach restaurant (L'Ile) had a real problem with flies. It was hard to find an appetite with flies surrounding the food. We wish that the hotel had more activities available (not much to do unless you were swimming or laying on the beach). There should be more than one pool and a swim-up bar would be a nice added feature. Overall, we enjoyed our vacation, but we feel that this resort has a little work to do to meet the high standards of a Riu Palace resort. We have stayed at other Riu resorts that had more amenities to offer.

Riu Republica: Beautiful Resort

It is our first time travelling as a couple and all I can is that I am very happy with the service that was provided to us. Our check in was a little rough because of the amount of people that were also checking in but we were taken care of pretty quickly. The room was modern and very comfortable. The staff were amazing as well, they were all so kind and I did not meet one person that worked at the resort that did not smile at you and greet you. The resort was not far from the airport which was a huge plus. Regarding food, we had no issues with food, we are limited when it comes to our diet but there was always something we could eat and left with full stomach. The buffet was amazing, and so was the Japanese restaurant they had on site. We also likes the Italian and the steak house they had! We only had non alcoholic drinks and there was a couple of mix-ups with the drinks that did occur due to the language barrier which was one negative that we had but other then that everything else was amazing. I was nervous when booking this resort at first due to the construction but I am so glad we went and intend to go back once they have finished all the new add ons!

Riu Guanacaste: great resort

beautiful grounds, great staff, amazing food washrooms were very clean although if you were in the pool, at the beach or at the buffet the washrooms were a bit of a walk. rooms were ok, we had a beautiful view of the jungle behind the resort. often seen monkeys and beautiful birds and butterflies

Riu Naiboa: A big disappointment

Hi was very shocked that the hotel staffing knows no English,at the front desk,it was very hard to communicate with the staff,also the foods suck we stayed 7 days. Hardly any food that makes sense,I was very disappointing with my stay.at this hotel never had a problem with any of the riu before.i would not go back there .

Riu Tequila: Not worth it!

Where should this review start? This trip was myself and my elderly mother (her first time to Mexico, my third time, but never at Tequila). Two people and we only got one room key. We had the "garden view" room, the view was of a manhole and the street. The knob of the dresser fell off as soon as we got there. The blankets smelled mouldy. The alcohol in the room was watered down, one alcohol dispenser was broken. The buffet food was lacking, salad bowls had water at the bottom. When eating it, i [... read more]t tasted as if there was chlorine in it. Last but not least, ROACHES! I wondered why the hotel staff kept cleaning all the time; well that's why...little critters crawling around the hotel lobby! Oh wait! There was cat in the lobby who kept vomiting! This trip was a total disappointment and waste of money.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Beautiful resort!

The Rui Palace Costa Rica is a beautifully kept, modern looking resort in a stunning location. Lobby and rooms are ultra modern with lots of smooth shiny surfaces hat seem a little out of place in that locale! However, although I am probably a little more comfortable in a more "traditional" setting, my 19year old daughter loved the decor - especially the black marble and dark purple colour scheme in the rooms. When I asked if it was possible to change rooms because our room was directly above the stage and bar and was somewhat loud, front desk staff were extremely helpful, giving us a choice of rooms to change to. As vegetarians food options at the restaurants were a little limited so we tended to stick to the main buffet dining room where we could always find something - even if it was mostly pasta. Pools are stunning, and the beach is lovely. I could have gazed at the surrounding mountains forever! It was a mother daughter trip before daughter heads away to university in the fall and we had a terrific time. I think the resort has a younger party vibe that would be really fun if you were there with a group of young friends rather than your mother but all in all it's a beautiful place that I would highly recommend if you're looking for an all inclusive experience that is young, modern and fun.

Riu Ocho Rios: Great All-Inclusive Resort

Clean, comfortable room, everything works and maintained well. Great beach with access to lots of water sport activities, paddle boarding, sailing, scuba diving, etc. Tasty food with lots of variety, including famous Jamaican cuisine. Great sea-food too, spiny lobster, shrimp, and fish, and good selection of tropical fruits. Staff are friendly and helpful, so our vacation went well with no unexpected or unpleasant events along the way. Great place for children as well.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Great vacation

Been to this resort many times. Always been pleased with the service and quality, although it is not up to "palace" standards in my opinion. The staff are very kind and always helpful. I have no complaints. The beach at this resort is amazing!!!!

Riu Palace Bavaro: Great vacation in Dominican

Stayed at the RIU Palace Bavaro July 16-20th. Bus ride from the airport was only 30 minutes, and when we arrived we had a very easy check in process. We were upgraded to the VIP section. Our room was very spacious and clean. Walk to the pool, beach & restaurants was very short, as the resort is not large. Food was really good. Service was good. Only ate at the buffet restaurants as the other restaurants have a lot of fish & seafood on the menus (which didn't appeal to us). Bars were good [... read more], enjoyed the coffee bar in the lobby - they served good coffee and soft serve ice cream. We went to the shows each night and they were not the best shows we have seen but they were entertaining. Beach was nice, not overly crowed and could always find a beach chair (same for pool but it was a bit more crowded). Only complaint about the beach was all the seaweed. I did see them out clearing it one day but they could certainly do it more frequently. Overall really liked the resort.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Awesome and amazing vacation.

The level of cleanliness in the hotel was of the highest. The people in Los Cabos were very pleasant to interact with and the vendors were not pushy. The staff were very professional and courteous. Our room was amazing and the view of the ocean was spectacular.

Riu Flamingos: Beautiful

I just came back from a one week vacation and really enjoyed it. I loved the location, I walked 2 hours a day and felt very safe. The beach was amazing as well as the water. The sunsets every night we're absolutely beautiful! The resort wasvery clean, loved the food as well, especially the Italian restaurant. The staff were very friendly and were always smiling. It was great!

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Beautiful Resort

Everything at this resort was beautiful. The food was amazing as was the service. It was very clean and the grounds were immaculate. We had an amazing first time all inclusive experience at a resort. Absolutely no complaints about anything and I am very particular - so it must have been great!

Riu Republica: Spectacular experience

Riu Republica is a very modern looking hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. As soon as I arrived I was welcomed with a glass of juice as I waited for check-in, which gave me a good vibe. The resort is a good size, not too big, so the distance to walk from our room to the beach or restaurant wasnt too far. The only complaint I had was that while i was there the hotel had construction going on at early hours of the morning right outside of my hotel room. Riu Guanacaste: Not my favourite...

This hotel was okay...but I wouldn't stay here again. I wanted to call our travel agent and switch to the Palace the first day we arrived. Pros Lots of food and things to eat so you won't go hungry, (not the best food, but not the worst.) Beautiful grounds. So well maintained. It is clear that the grounds people are the hardest working people at this resort. They were also so kind and accommodating if you asked for a coconut. Beach is beautiful & clean. Beach vendors are very polite and don't pester you if you say no thank you. If you take a walk down the beach towards the monkey bar you can find local vendors who have better prices for souvenirs than Coco Beach. Cons Check in line up was insane, way too busy and not organized at all. Old fashion keys that have been cut so many times it is difficult to unlock your room. Rude pool staff...A person named Gallo working at the pool bar, shouldn't. He is rude and clearly hates his job. I also witnessed one server telling another server to look at a young girl in her swimsuit...she was perhaps 15, made me sick! Sergio at the sports bar was the exception, he was always helpful and polite. Fridge is NOT filled up in your room as the website indicates. We had to go to the front desk several times just to get water. Rooms towels are ripped and old. Not what I would expect at a RIU There are not enough washrooms around or close to the pool. Snacks in the sports bar are pretty discussing so don't count on that if you're hungry after breakfast, lunch or dinner hours. The hotel is way too busy! If you want piece and quiet, this is not really the place to stay...we went during the slow rainy season and it was packed with locals. There were people everywhere and you could not get a recliner near the pool. Not that you really want to since there is no convenient place for people to get out and use a toilet. It is really far from other places so if you want to see anything, you will have to book excursions. The best prices for the excursions were not from the people on the beach as I have read in other reviews. My partner is from Central America with Spanish as a first language and well versed in the art of negotiation so I am sure the price she got was quoted from "Alex on the Beach" and others was rock bottom. It was still more than what we paid for excursions we booked at the front of the hotel. The restaurants are difficult to get into as you have to line up like cattle at least an hour before they open. If you don't, they will be booked for the night within the first hour they open. I don't want to go on and on about the cons, but I could. Overall, if I was to visit Costa Rica again, I wouldn't stay at this hotel. I would recommend maybe a few nights in one region of Costa Rica then a few in another. I would also buy all of my alcohol at the duty free shop that you pass when you come through airport security in CR, it is so cheap. I would also eat locally or hire a person to cook as the beans, rice and the plantains was the best food the resort had to offer. You could use the money you save from not doing all inclusive to pay for the food and drinks and it would be A LOT better, in my opinion.

Riu Santa Fe: Decent Resort but Terrible Service and Food

This resort was beautiful, great location and great accommodations. However the food on this resort was absolutely terrible, i expected better and was disappointed. Even the A La Carte restaurants were crap, not even close to being good. Also the service wasn't as good as I hoped, waited a long time to get little things done, like extra towels. They move at their own pace and there's nothing you can do about it. The lifeguards constantly keep ppl from going inside because of the danger.Aside from all that, had a lot of fun at the resort...but would def pick another place to stay at next time im in Cabo.

Riu Palace Las Americas: Just breathtaking...

This resort was so beautiful. It was literally like living in luxurious paradise! No words. The entire outside of this resort is white, pools are blue and the view is amazing! We went for 3 nights 4 days in July ( past week) and it felt like 3 weeks. July has to be one of the hottest humid times of the year in Mexico - I would recommend going during another month where it is much cooler, for your own sanity. I am Indian so I would have preferred more spice and flavor but never the less, it is still yummy. Their buffet area has an amazing view however there is a lot of pesky wild crows that find a way in (despite the netting) and pretty much eat the buffet with you lol. Not a huge botheration but do not leave your food unintended.... because its no longer your food now. Beach - white sand and very clean. There were specs of seaweed but hey! its the ocean. It is how it is. If you don't like it, then there is always the pools that overlook the ocean also. Rooms - clean but get very moist because there is not much ventilation. Did not like the bed cover too much. It felt really heavy, old and an almost moldy color blue but luckily I brought my own sheets so I made due. Overall, I do not have any concerns with this resort. It was an absolutely beautiful trip.

Riu Naiboa: Poor Resort

Rooms are not cleaned properly, refill of fridge not done regularly. Pool is small and not properly cleaned. Almost same food everyday, not enough choice of food for vegetarian. Too much mosquito in room. Coupons are not given at time of check-in as part of our packages from Hotel and sunwings. I don't like this resort as per money I spent.

Riu Palace Antillas: Great resort

The food and the service in the restaurants was just amazing. Also maid service was great. The only thing I found that was not as good are the floors in the suite - they should be replaced especially by the fridge area.

Riu Palace Antillas: Amazing Food

The room my husband and I stayed in on the 15th floor was quite large and comfortable. We had a partial ocean view from our balcony. The maid service was great, and our fridge was stacked with drinks. The bed was turned down every night. Maybe the floors could be upgraded. Entertainment at our hotel was not to our satisfaction. The service at the restaurants and by the pool was amazing.
