Riu Montego Bay: Good and bad

I was impressed with a very friendly staff. The food was good. The jurk chicken hut was my favorite. The pool was nice and always kept clean. My problem was the beds were the most uncomfortable beds I've ever stayed on . The beach has 90% seaweed,very disappointed with the beach. And I noticed on the day I was leaving there was a cockroach in the bathroom. I've been to Jamaica 3 times at different resorts. Jamaica is still my favorite place to visit.But I won't return to The Riu Montego B [... read more]ay.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Beautiful resort

Nice resort, great rooms, grounds, pool, lots of sitting areas, good entertainment (though the one on the terrace way too loud). Several, nice relaxing beaches (though you need water shoes), snorkeling right there, lots of fish. Good food at the buffet. Very good food at the restaurants. Drinks so-so. The good stuff you have to pay for. Service overall not the greatest.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: The most beautiful place on earth

This hotel is absolutely incredible. The food is amazing, the staff is outstanding. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Definitely our home away from home. Five stars hands down!!!! From the ala cartes to the activities, everything was just perfect. A few of the members who are outstanding include executive assistant manager Marlon, supervisor Alwayne, waitress Marlene, bar staff Jerome, Phillip, Dwayne, Donna, sibony, Marcel, Donna-Lee just to name a few all excellent. Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Excellent Holiday

Loved the new side of this hotel. I have been to Jamaica sooo many times and this resort did not disappoint. Love the addition and option to experience both sides of the hotel. Andrei Jonas is among my favourite employees, who really understands customer service and made the stay superior.

Dreams Rose Hall: Best week of our lives

Absolutely beautiful. Food was amazing every day, grounds are gorgeous, staff are all friendly and a couple of them really made the trip that much more enjoyable. Only complaint was that our fridge was stocked only twice in the week we stayed, even when It was empty most of the time, either way It was honestly the best week of my life. I'll be back again and again.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: Amazing experience!

This was our first time away south and I don't think I even want to waste my money traveling anywhere else! Everything was perfect! I want to bring my kids there! We will definitely be back! Absolutely beautiful resort, beautiful people, amazing food!

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Amazing Honeymoon Location

Very friendly staff, safe environment. We found it very clean and well kept. We did not expect the beach to be so shallow; however it worked out in our favour as we were able to snorkel every day and get some great underwater videos. The food was excellent but we really enjoyed Dolce Vita (the Italian restaurant) and Don Pablo (the French cuisine). The bar staff were also wonderful and so welcoming. We stayed on the luxury side for our honeymoon, sure there are always little things like having a true mini bar within your room and getting more than 2 beer a day stocked into your fridge,but to be honest the resort is so nice you end up never being in your room. Ensure to take in the beach parties, karaoke and the disco in the small village on the resort complex. This gives you no reason to leave the resort to find night life.

Dreams Rose Hall: Great Resort

This hotel was great. We stayed for 6 days 5 nights and did a lot. We went on 3 tours and always caught the nightly entertainment. The resort food was amazing and the staff was so great! The bartenders were so friendly and always willing to make us new and exceptionally good drinks. Maurice and Charles were SUPER great bartenders and make the best 'dirty bananas '. As for service on the beach Devolin was the man. Always attentive and got our drinks so quickly.Be sure to check out the jerk hut on [... read more] the beach, it is fabulous. If you go to seaside restaurant ..you must as for Latoya. What a great server. She always made us feel so welcomed. We can't wait to go back . Whether you are there with friends or family they have something for everyone.

Riu Reggae: What an awesome resort

the hotel is brand new so everything is spotless. the pools are decent but shallow , like waist deep. the entertainment staff are fun . there is a night club near by that's on the family resort . the food was great especially the jek chicken hut. ii arrived Sunday may 28th and lucky me beach party night.the resort is adaults only so its a huge bonus if you want to be away from that. this is a great resort and well worth the trip.

Sandals Dunn's River: Great resort

the resort is well maintained and clean. mostly very friendly staff with a few exceptions. smaller (still good) food selection compared to resorts I have been used to. the multiple restaurants, dress code, bar times etc can be a bit tricky if you dont update yourself with the daily bulletin that is dropped off at your room. nice small beach , clean pool and hot tubs. amazing garden covered with lots trees for peace and quiet.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: 2nd time and even better!

This was our second time at the Grand Palladium, and we were very happy. The staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful, the food was really good and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms and the resort were really clean. The only issue was that the shallow end of the infinity pool was having work done so they had to drain part of the main pool so it didn't run into the area to be worked on. The pool itself is massive so space wasn't the issue, but with the water level lowered, it didn't rea [... read more]ch the skimmers so any debris just seems to collect in certain areas of the pool and by the end of the week, we ended up going to one of the smaller pools because it was cleaner. The staff were working tirelessly to keep the pool clean but with it being so big, it was difficult. As this was a fluke occurrence, we will definitely return to this resort again.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Excellent Accomodations and Amenities.

My wife Debra and I have visited at least 5 other resorts in Jamaica between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay and found Iberostar Suites to be in the top 2! The amenities and overall layout of the resort is nothing less than amazing! The serving staff did a great job at the Bar, the Suite and the Buffet and A La Carte. My wife and I were was not as impressed with the personal chatter and hang out of staff in the buffet and other open areas. They assumed we did not understand the words they are using; [... read more] however, it was filled with expletives and chatter about other people and their own personal lives off the resort. While we do not expect a regimented and robot behaviour from humans, we expect them to be more discreet. The one thing that had me truly bothered was watching two maintenance workers in the main lobby with a (approximate) 12 feet ladder, changing or cleaning either the fire/smoke alarm sensor or whatever it was, in the ceiling, which required one of them to actually climb unto the last rung of the ladder, stretching his full body up to the ceiling, with no protective restraints to get to the object. I watched with horror at the possibility of him falling to his death in front of guests, especially children. I believe there was no thought of safety from the two staff and the resort would be liable. other than the things mentioned above, I absolutely love the building, food and drinks and the service overall. I have already recommended the resort to my family, co-workers and friends in Canada where I reside. absolutely beautiful at the suites. I will try the Grande on my next visit.

Charela Inn: Beautiful Inn

The Charela Inn is located on the most beautiful part of the seven mile beach. We had a perfect view of the turquoise blue water from their restaurant. Food there was delicious. Breakfast was average price and they catered to all types ie. local and American. The best was dinner where the meals were a fusion of French and Jamaican. The staff was very accomedating to whatever we needed. Great to talk to about tourism and local culture. Our rooms were situated on the garden side where there were l [... read more]ots of shady trees and flower bushes. Most of the rooms you could see the large central pool. The rooms were very clean and spacious we had two double beds and a nice size bathroom. Fair amount of closet space and dresser with drawers. There were extra pillows which was good for us. The hotel had a taxi service which help take us to local shops and restaurants for a decent fee. Overall, best non-inclusive resort!

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Not a palace

After having returned to the RIU Ochos Rios four years in a row, we wanted to try out Negril and of course picked the RIU Palace Tropical Bay. The good: Free wifi everywhere including the beach Front desk service was great! Check in and temperature checks. Went out of their way to make our stay a great one. Checked in several times. The food in the buffet is good with a lot of variety. Steak house is awesome Fusion was fantastic for food, presentation and flawless service Italian wa [... read more]s by far the best (this coming from an Italian, that says a lot!) Japanese is gross - they ask you to complete surveys on food and service in each a la carte restaurant. The manager of public relations called me to discuss my survey. She continued to check in throughout my stay to ensure we were doing well - that I must say was impressive. She went out of her way, along with the fabulous staff in the Italian restaurant to make my birthday extra special. Beach is spectacular and totally makes up for all the bad experiences The bad: Palapas - they need some - zero shade Music - its dead silent here. With so much amazing music in Jamaica would really feel like you're on vacation with music all over the resort. Two hours on the beach playing the same music every day for 10 days is not my idea of music. I got really annoyed and loaned them my iPod with reggae music on it every day for almost a week! Washrooms - entire resort has only two washrooms and neither are near the beach or the pool. Be prepared to hike to a washroom! Service is in the buffet is terrible - they are so busy talking to each other or on their phones instead of serving their customers. Entertainment team is non attentive and too busy talking to each other or picking up young women - definitely don't cater to married couples. A couple of them came around toward the end of our stay but overall they need some energy pumped into them - they truly make or break the vacation so if they are pumped and happy and ready to have fun it becomes contagious. Rooms near the road will get loud due to the sounds from the road - walls are paper thin and we were awoken each morning by a wood pecker going to town. Clearly not the fault of the resort. Water sports - afternoon refusal based on weather (apparently sunshine and light wind wasn't satisfactory to take out a sail boat) One place to eat lunch and they were staining or painting the walkway which was nauseating at best. The nightly shows are a yawn fest - utterly amateur and completely boring. For those accustomed to the RIU Palace, note that this is definitely not a palace. They are painting it white and calling it a palace. They lack the amenities the palaces offer. Kids area is a small run down park with two swings and a tree house looking structure. Overall - we made the most of our vacation thanks to a breathtaking beach and ocean and a few key people who were really awesome. I will return to Negril but not to this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Resort was great front desk service was terrible

We went with a group of sixteen people and our experience was frustrating. I had emailed resort in advance in regards to requesting our rooms be close together and we were scattered everywhere. I requested two queen beds in two of the rooms because it was an aunt and niece in one and an uncle and nephew in another and both rooms had king beds...we requested numerous times for them to get new rooms, however we were told that no rooms were available and one guest slept on the couch in room. my r [... read more]oom had a wheel in shower that flooded the room every time we showered. I called the front desk to complain and request a new room 20 times and no one would answer ..... when the maid came with towels to clean up all the water she was the one that got a hold of a manager and still we were refused a new room because apparently there wasn't any. I went to west jet representative and finally after numerous times in the lobby complaining about so much they gave us a new room which was great however very inconvenient to have to pack up and move everything and then unpack again. My grand baby who is two years old ended up with 50 miscito bites from there room.... requested them a new room after waking up with more every day. Dinner reservations could only acccomodate us after 9 pm at night which was very inconvenient with a baby in our party. After complaining about everything else the finally got two of our dinner reservations at 6pm, however when arriving at restaurant they did not realize we were coming but accommodated us anyway..... the food was fantastic and so was the service. I was very disappointed that when arriving we were told the safe in the room was not included and it would cost us 6.00 a night.... after numerous complaints they gave us keys to the safe on the fourth day there. I love Jamaica and the service was great in all the restaurants but I found the service when we arrived and at the front desk and trying to get what we needed was extremely difficult. The entertainment around the pool and throughout the resort was amazing.

Sandals Caribbean Cay: Great service and location

Loved the whole trip, great service, comfortable air conditioned room, epic bathtub, steps from the pool, nightly entertainment - steel drum band was awesome! Chico the entertainment manager was great, Shawayne and the rest of the food staff as well. Enjoyed all the restaurants, the included Catamaran tour. Everything is close together so you don't have to walk far to get to your restaurant or beach location. Close to the airport so take note if plane noises bother you. Beach is a little short s [... read more]o don't expect long walks on the beach :) Take the Negril tour for that. The private island was nice too, loved the bamboo jerk shack. Already planning the return trip!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Fabulous Resort!!!

Our stay at Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica was amazing ❤️. Beautiful resort for your money, the rooms were very nice and kept clean. The staff were friendly and the customer service was above and beyond. The grounds where will kept, the pools very nice. We loved the white beaches and aquamarine ocean views. Overall spectacular trip and we'll never forget the people of Jamaica! We will be back!

Beaches Ocho Rios: Jamaica

Beautiful resort the services were great the hotel staff was fabulous the food was great what can we say Jamaica was amazing Frederica was fabulous in the concierge department , Alex was amazing in the entertainment department with the teens and the tweens so good with my son and with all the kids Couldnt of asked for anything better.

Riu Montego Bay: Needs Work

The staff was friendly, the grounds were well kept and the food was decent. However, this resort has a lot of maintenance issues and needs to be refurbished. The pool was green around the edges and cloudy. Not really a kids area, so they play in the shallower lounge area of the pool, which tended to get quite noisy. The beach is obviouly manmade, so once you get out into the water more than ten feet the bottom feels mucky. Frequent jets flying overhead gets annoying. Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Very Disapointing

I was at this resort last at this same time, love it, that is why we came back, possibly new management, we requested 2nd floor,2 double beds overlooking the pool, arrived on the 21st at 4pm, we were put on the 7th floor over looking the busy street also King Size bed. After complaining when we arrived we were told they would change us in the morning, we waited and waited living out of our suitcases for me calling and calling until at 4.30pm on the Monday ask for the Manager we eventually got  [... read more]into our room at 5.30 Monday 22nd. Room fine , next morning someone in one of the room upchuck in front of one of the door we have to past by, it was hastily clean and remained with the soiled marks until we leave on the 28th, reason was given when we leave that floor would be closed as they will be upgrading, bet we had to live with the smell,
