Had a great time at the resort. It is well maintained and clean. Any staff we met were very friendly and welcoming. They really could not have been nicer. The food was very good and had many choices. Our room was kept clean. Overall we would definitely stay again

Grand Palladium Colonial: Amazing resort
I had an amazing stay at the Grand Palladium colonial resort in Cancún. The grounds were beautiful the people friendly and extremely helpful. The nightly entertainment was amazing and the dance music well let’s just say I danced every night. The dance group involved the guests. They also had a children’s hour of entertainment. The rooms were clean and spacious. I would stay there again in a heartbeat

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Worst experience we've ever had
Deplorable customer service ... "It's not my problem" was an actual reply from a restaurant manager that best sums up their policy. Raccoons sifting through garbage in the hallway outside our room that was left there for 3 consecutive days. FIVE scheduled pickups that didn't show up at this ridiculously massive and spread out resort. Construction their own staff seemingly wasn't aware of. Food being recycled to the point of drying out, yet they STILL wouldn't discard it. Toilet, hot water, [... read more]electrical and phone issues in extremely dated rooms. This was the only time in 20 years we've wanted to leave a "vacation" days early.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Large Dissappointment
Want to start with our group of 13 are experienced travellers, have been to Cuba, Dominican, and especially Mexico (10 times) So I am extremely familiar with the level of service and what is to be expected.
1. no service whatsoever, get your own drinks, even though we were club select adult area
2. 10 of 13 got food poisoning and spent the day in their rooms.
3. Monkeys although cute left feces that took days for the staff to clean up on the hand rails
4. Lawn sprinkler system uses stagnant [... read more]lagoon water (strong sewage smell) and was sooooo bad it woke us up in the middle of the night on 2 occasions, absolutely brutal!
5. Pool was dirty.
6. Staff constantly ran out of premium alcohol and hid it below the counter for black wrist band folks.
7. Was lied to at the reception, told if I wanted a king size bed, I could not have a balcony, this is not true.
8. I could go on for hours, overall the resort is nice, food was good, beach is amazing but too rough for any snorkelling, but your money is better spent on resorts with much superior features and service. No one in our group intends on ever coming back.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Large resort......too large
The hotel in itself was very nice, the food was great, rooms were decent, however a bit older looking. We stayed in adult section bldg. 8300 in Akumal resort part. The adult portion was very quiet in the most part and the restaurant for the section was very nice.
Overall, the good/bad are as follows:
1. Staff are extremely friendly; maids, butlers, waiters etc. The front desk and customer service staff are TERRIBLE. They are rude, inflexible and do not know how to come across as friendly[... read more] or accommodating. They need customer service training badly.
2. As mentioned, the resort overall is beautiful; food was good , grounds kept well. Biggest issue we found was it was too big. Bahia resort in Akumal is made up of 4 large resorts plus private condo developments and golf course. There is no synergy at all between the resorts as you are allowed access everywhere and cannot tell which resort you are in at any time. Shuttles are required everywhere to be taken. It is confusing and difficult to get your bearings. Staff is confused as well.
3. Resort does not do a good job of putting out daily activities. We were looking at evening shows with a Mexican flavor; our resort Akumal had none, but found out on the last day that Coba resort had lovely courtyard entertainment every night. This was very poorly put forward to the guests and they are in dire need of a communications strategy for their guests.
4. Beaches on property were underwhelming. The pictures show them as beautiful, but when you arrive, you have large black balloons filled with sand in the water keeping crashing waves from coming ashore. Mostly rocky beach. This is not a natural sand beach. This part was very disappointing and feel cheated by website and trip central for recommending this property.
5. Lastly, we have travelled to many properties over the years and we felt Bahia was not amongst the best we have visited.

Grand Palladium Select White Sand: Beautiful Resort! Amazing Trip!!!
We booked a junior suite with a king size bed and pullout double bed. Everything was ready and looked inviting when we got in. Our building was 2 min walk from the buffet restaurant. You do not have to worry about the food - there was enough variety to satisfy meat lovers and vegetarians. We went to the buffet for breakfast and lunch. And even tried the snack bars near by the beach. Everything tasted great. The beach was beautiful and the grounds were spacious. In the evenings we went to Brazil[... read more]ian restaurant - we liked that the least in terms of taste but the experience was great. Went to the Ribs restaurant the next night. It was pretty good. Tried the a Thai next, that was good. The Italian restaurant was the best - went there 2 nights. Each of the restaurant offered a salad buffet with a number of variety. During the week, we booked a trip to Tulum - when it was not too hot. It was a half day trip - there’s a local beach there where you could take great photos. Service was great, at the hotel, on the grounds and at the beach. There were running carts to take the guests between the 4 buildings in Grand Palladium almost all day and the evenings until quite late. There were a lot of activities for kids and adults as well as entertainment each day and evening to keep you busy. All in all an amazing trip and we will definitely be back!!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Will return to Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar
We will be returning to Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar
We really enjoyed our 9-day visit. We have been to several resorts in the Caribbean and this is our favorite.
High points:
-Rooms were spacious and sparkling clean
-Lots of towel art
-Rooms were quiet
-Service (both in room and elsewhere on resort) was good
-Decor and landscaping are well thought-out — wonderful!
-Hotel layout and signage are very good
-Wildlife is fun and adds life to the landscaping
-Buffet selections were ple[... read more]ntiful and good, except beef items
-Omelet station at beach buffet was excellent
-Lots of shuttles if needed, but the variety in the landscaping makes the walks very pleasant
-Variety of seating to enjoy, be it at beach (lounging chairs, beds, hammocks), at the various pools (lounging chairs, stationary and rocking beds, pool bar stools and “oasis†benches), or in lobby (comfy rattan lounge chairs and benches)
-Varied pool ambiance — quiet areas, music and entertainment/games area
-The resort was very well maintained and very clean
-Entertainment at pool was fun and varied
-Entertainment staff was courteous and very friendly (Hola Leslie, Katia and Enrique!)
-House wines were very nice
-Sugar-free mojitos at pool bars were great
-Both à -la-carte restaurants we patronized (El Colonial gourmet and Japanese) were very good
Room for improvement:
-Evening entertainment needs some work (especially the pre-show)
Food:
-Coffee (and lattes) in buffets could be much better
-Beef was super tough - hard to eat
Minor irritants:
-Insufficient garbage cans, especially on beach
-No recycling bin in room. The resort should have instructions about dealing with cans and bottles.
-Electric outlets that stop working when there is no movement were disconcerting — the resort should provide info about that on check-in.
-Fan in our bathroom was noisy.
-Occasional seats along jungle paths would be appreciated.
-Note that the concierge let us down a bit. When we asked about ordering wine to enjoy in our room (not available in mini- bar), we were told (quite insistently, almost rudely) by concierge that there was a room service card in the room (even though I had pointed out that there was not). (There was no room service card in the room)

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great resort!
This resort was really nice, modern, and clean! The rooms were beautiful, the food was always really great, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We really loved swimming in the ocean, even though it was a bit of a rocky area we still enjoyed it. The pools were a bit cold for our liking but still nice, and the entertainment at El Beso was always fun. The major downfall of our trip was that we had paid to stay in the Eden Building when we booked through Trip Central, but when we got to our reso[... read more]rt, they told us we were booked in the Daisy Building. We had to spend the whole week listening to screaming and crying kids in the morning... Even though my boyfriend and I don't have kids and did not want to stay in the Daisy Building. We still had a nice stay but we tried to avoid spending as little time in our room as possible to avoid the kiddy pool and building. If you don't like being around kids, definitely don't book the Daisy Building.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Top Notch Resort
My wife,Diane and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay of 10 days at Barcelo Colonial. Beautiful, long beach with many pools and lots of chairs. We enjoyed good food at the buffet and two of the three a la carte Restaurants. .. Not the seafood as we were pushed to buy expensive wine and were rushed.. The Japanese and Italian were excellent! Eight of 10 days were sunny and hot. On the two cooler, cloudy days we were able to find many things to do besides shopping (there are a lot of shops) There are t[... read more]wo large theatres where we enjoyed several performances, a dolphin show and several other activities both inside and out that could be enjoyed by a wide range of ages.We would place this resort at the top of our list of several resorts we visited .

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: No better vacation than any other average 3.5 - 4 star resort
I would start out by saying that I have traveled extensively and have visited numerous all inclusive resorts, almost 50. The Grand Bahia Principe Akumal is part of 3 other resorts on the property, therefore it is huge, so be prepared to walk a lot or wait for the trolley. The staff who operate the trolley are good but they cannot be everywhere all the time.
Staff - Good and very prompt and polite as most Mexican people are. They are extremely hard working and legitimately kind. No servers ar[... read more]ound the pools which I found odd.
Grounds - large, beautiful, and well maintained. Akumal patrons were allowed access to all the other resorts, but it seemed so were the Tulum patrons. Regardless of this, the pool at the Akumal is designed to be quiet with no music and it is small and has very little seating. The Tulum has the best pool as I went to both Sian Kaan and the Coba. The buildings are a bit dated now as parts of the resort were closed for renovation. During my entire stay the Akumal Lobby was closed. Imagine the hub of the resort closed and I only found out a day prior to my departure. No, I would not have booked it knowing that. Be aware that many parts of this resort will be closed at different times over the next few months to a year. A little deceiving on their part.
Beach - is not very good for walking or swimming. It is rocky and there was hardly anyone in the water. One spot was okay to snorkel and fish watch, but overall not a great piece of the beach.
Rooms - what you would expect. large enough and nice enough but showing signs of age as is the balcony. I requested a specific building but of course I ended up with one of the worse buildings and rooms as I could not see anything from my balcony. I traveled alone and was not treated very well considering I paid $500 more as a single traveler. I should also mention that I was a repeat guest which meant nothing.
Restaurants - Buffet was ok and the a la cartes were a bit better. Not bad, not great, average I would say. Solo travelers get stuck in the corner every time unless you speak up. Second class citizens so to speak. Remember I paid more, but in there eyes they got less out of me and my room as dbl occupancy is preferred.Customer is always right remember. I know it is the management who tell the staff where to sit singles, but I did not like it as most wouldn't. I was not checked on as much either and I am a huge tipper to the point of ridiculous.
Bars - Well they did have some better liquor but I noticed that the drinks were light when you asked for them, so I had to ask for a double. Keep your eye on them they are obviously being told to be careful with the premium liquor. The sports bar was one of the best I have seen and it was a good environment especially with no lobby bar. All that is on however is soccer and I do not watch that game.
Transportation - on the way there, it was a large bus with a washroom which makes sense. On the way back they packed 12 adults into a van with no washroom for a 1.5 shuttle to the airport. Remember some drank too much the night before, others had too much heat, and others had food issues. You understand what I am saying I think.
Air transat flight was acceptable but is bare bones. Same overpriced food and of cafeteria quality. Check accuracy of baggage weights fyi. I have a serious airborne allergy that was to be reported to air transat via trip central, but for the second time in a row it wasn't so I had to do it myself and have people stare at me and groan. Not sure if it was Air Transat who screwed up or Trip Central but it is a serious matter. It should be the first announcement as well.
SO OVERALL JUST OK WITH MANY DISAPPOINTMENTS. MAYBE VISIT THIS RESORT IN A YEAR OR TWO WHEN RENOS ARE COMPLETE. OTHER ISSUES HAVE TO BE ADDRESSED BY AIR TRANSAT, TRIP CENTRAL AND GRAND BAHIA RESORT.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Absolutely huge resort with a jungle feel
Loved how the grounds make you feel like you are in the jungle without all the bugs. A variety of animals and birds roam freely around the resort. Keep an eye on your food as the Coti (sp) are opportunistic and will snatch your food. The beach is nice and I had fun body surfing the waves. It was sometimes difficult to find beach chairs and if you want a bed by the pool or beach get up early as many people drop their towels and stuff and go for breakfast. Overall I enjoyed and would consider[... read more] going back if the price was right.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: OUTSTANDING resort!!!!
Had the most AMAZING time! Such a beautiful resort! Clean, well maintained, and most importantly, have the friendliest people working there! A fantastic variety of restaurants to choose from, and even though we didn’t take the prestige package, we found that we didn’t ever have to wait more than 20 minutes to get a table. We would DEFINITELY choose to go back, and would of course recommend this resort to others!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Expensive Lemon
Our holiday started with the first sour note an additional $1,100.00 to have a room with some view, instead of a room with the view of the swamp and the big & ugly utility building, and afternoons in the full blast of the sun.
Most of the staff, including the buffet, with very little or no English. Every step required a tip, and , even after tipping you still won't get the service or drink you asked for.
Food , at the very best, average. Meals repeating almost day after day. Fried chicken o[... read more]r fish with fries was always the best bet. Pork or beef.. forget about it,
the soles of my shoes are tender.
Entertainment : NADA !!! Live elevator music at keyboard or violin. No shows..
When it rained or close to raining, events were cancelled. Only twice a smart DJ managed to provide some entertainment for all ages. Twice in 11 days !!!
On top of it the "entertainment" with full blast of boomboxes were located in the close vicinity of the living quarters. Closed doors and ear plugs couldn't help getting to sleep.
Only the beach and ocean earned the 5 star rating.
It's the second lemon in a row, after last year experience at Princess in Dominican Republic.
