Riu Reggae: What an awesome resort

the hotel is brand new so everything is spotless. the pools are decent but shallow , like waist deep. the entertainment staff are fun . there is a night club near by that's on the family resort . the food was great especially the jek chicken hut. ii arrived Sunday may 28th and lucky me beach party night.the resort is adaults only so its a huge bonus if you want to be away from that. this is a great resort and well worth the trip.

Riu Flamingos: Great Stay

Me and my boyfriend we stayed at the Riu Jalisco for a week at the end of May 2017. Hotel is great, staff friendly, food is ok. The discotheque at night was a plus. The only thing is that the entertainment team would mostly speak Spanish. We were at the pool and did not understand anything from the game that was going on. Beside that, it was a wonderful stay. I would recommend this resort.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Not a palace

After having returned to the RIU Ochos Rios four years in a row, we wanted to try out Negril and of course picked the RIU Palace Tropical Bay. The good: Free wifi everywhere including the beach Front desk service was great! Check in and temperature checks. Went out of their way to make our stay a great one. Checked in several times. Japanese is gross - they ask you to complete surveys on food and service in each a la carte restaurant. The manager of public relations called me to discuss my survey. She continued to check in throughout my stay to ensure we were doing well - that I must say was impressive. She went out of her way, along with the fabulous staff in the Italian restaurant to make my birthday extra special. Beach is spectacular and totally makes up for all the bad experiences The bad: Palapas - they need some - zero shade Music - its dead silent here. With so much amazing music in Jamaica would really feel like you're on vacation with music all over the resort. Two hours on the beach playing the same music every day for 10 days is not my idea of music. I got really annoyed and loaned them my iPod with reggae music on it every day for almost a week! Washrooms - entire resort has only two washrooms and neither are near the beach or the pool. Be prepared to hike to a washroom! Service is in the buffet is terrible - they are so busy talking to each other or on their phones instead of serving their customers. Entertainment team is non attentive and too busy talking to each other or picking up young women - definitely don't cater to married couples. A couple of them came around toward the end of our stay but overall they need some energy pumped into them - they truly make or break the vacation so if they are pumped and happy and ready to have fun it becomes contagious. Rooms near the road will get loud due to the sounds from the road - walls are paper thin and we were awoken each morning by a wood pecker going to town. Clearly not the fault of the resort. Water sports - afternoon refusal based on weather (apparently sunshine and light wind wasn't satisfactory to take out a sail boat) One place to eat lunch and they were staining or painting the walkway which was nauseating at best. The nightly shows are a yawn fest - utterly amateur and completely boring. For those accustomed to the RIU Palace, note that this is definitely not a palace. They are painting it white and calling it a palace. They lack the amenities the palaces offer. Kids area is a small run down park with two swings and a tree house looking structure. Overall - we made the most of our vacation thanks to a breathtaking beach and ocean and a few key people who were really awesome. I will return to Negril but not to this resort.

Riu Playa Blanca: Great Resort

The ocean front room was spectacular. We were on the 6th floor overlooking the pools. Meals were better than most all inclusive resorts. Fruits were in season. The ocean could not be enjoyed due to possibility of stingrays but there was plenty of room in the pools and ample chairs for everyone.

Riu Flamingos: Beautiful resort; okay time

The scenery is pretty. It is very well kept! Our favourite place became the lobby bar area to play games and look out over the fountains with the best bar staff on site. We loved venturing into Puerto Vallarta, which is available via bus or a not as long taxi ride that we found to be worth the money ($280 pesos total one way) between four of us. Lots of Mexicans frequented this resort, which brought great energy - it did mean much more Spanish was spoken. We enjoyed dancing, but had better entertainment on our catamaran tour. If doing a catamaran tour, I would suggest doing something more private where you get to snorkel/kayak longer and explore a lot more. Worth the extra money. Getting to and from the airport with Sunwing was very easy. We wish the activity staff (who were passionate about what they did and put in a lot of effort) could be less repetitive in their music, sound effects, and introductions. It was exactly the same every day and made being around the pool annoying. Luckily the beach is right there for an alternative, still within walking distance to the bar and washrooms. Loved our room and having a balcony - top floor was great but would ask to not be facing the fountains/pool/entertainment area as it can be loud, especially in the morning with dishes being cleaned in the restaurant. Food was okay - much better food in town! Resorts are not my thing, but we were pleasantly impressed. Good value for your dollar.

Riu Santa Fe: Party Central

Hotel was really nice. It was clean and well kept. Food was good with good variety. Pools where nice. Staff were friendly. The pools by the beach was the party place for young people who got rather drunk and noisy. Our room was good but we where kept up every night till after 2:00am. With people either partying or fighting. One night it lasted till 5:00am till the music and screaming finally stopped. Always enjoy a good party and the sights but this was a bit much at times.

Riu Montego Bay: Needs Work

The staff was friendly, the grounds were well kept and the food was decent. However, this resort has a lot of maintenance issues and needs to be refurbished. The pool was green around the edges and cloudy. Not really a kids area, so they play in the shallower lounge area of the pool, which tended to get quite noisy. The beach is obviouly manmade, so once you get out into the water more than ten feet the bottom feels mucky. Frequent jets flying overhead gets annoying. Riu Palace Costa Rica: Amazing hotel

Beautiful grounds lovely garden with water fountains. Very nice and clean rooms and we had a good location close to amenities with beautiful balcony facing the garden. The food was amazing lots of selection. The beach was nice with darker sand however my preference was the pools with so many activities and fun games. Riu Playa Blanca: We liked it

We really liked it. Everything was good: food, drinks, our room, service, night entertainment for four nights of seven was good. Nice that you don't have to book a restaurant in advance if you want to go for a steak or Italian.

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Excellent stay

Food was good, plus each room has a bottle of rum, gin, vodka and scotch + mix and 4 Heinekens in it. Room had nice hardwood floor, spacious as well. Quick to get a drink but everyone seems to go to the Atlantis Casino at night so there isn't much nightlife. Beautiful beach and excellent value for our money.

Riu Ocho Rios: Great Resort

The room was clean and tidy. The grounds were beautiful. The public areas, beach, pools etc. were wonderful. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was absolutely amazing! - I never ate so much in my life - just couldn't stop. I gained weight but it was worth it.

Riu Palace Aruba: Great

The Rui Palace Aruba is a beautiful resort. We had the junior suite and it was beautiful. King size bed, sitting area and double sinks in the bathroom. Very clean. Large balcony with a view of the ocean. The food in the main buffet dining room was very good. A lot of variety. Salads and fruit very fresh. Specialty restaurants were disappointing. Staff were not friendly or very interested in serving you. The quality of the food in the Italian restaurant was the worst. Pasta was dried out and har [... read more]d - must have been left out under a heat lamp too long. Meat was burnt. However the exception was the Steak Restaurant by the pool. Food was excellent as was the staff! Very friendly and they couldn't do enough for you. Beach was beautiful- white sand and clear water. The only problem was getting an umbrella. Went out at 6:00 am and had difficulty getting a spot. There has to be a better way! They need to provide more umbrellas. You spend all this money to be on the beach and one should expect (be guanteed) to have access to an umbrella without having to get up at 4:00am! Remember - we are on vacation. Also there was no drink service on the beach only by the pool.

Riu Palace Antillas: Everything good but Room are dated.Rooms are not RIU Palace standard and more like Super 8

Over all: ====== RIU PALACE Antillas is OLD building converted to RIU with some effort. Pay little more and go to RIU palace. My Agent stated this is better than RIU Palace but he is wrong. All Amenities in Entire resort were good, except inside the room. Lobby smells as soon as you come out of elevator. Hope they update all rooms. They just removed carpets and added hardwood and called it as upgraded room....!!!!!

Riu Playa Blanca: Amazing resort!

Food was amazing, it was hot not humid which was great! The drinks were good, and restaurants great. Rooms were clean, friendly staff, amazing shows. The only problem we had was that the pool closed at around 6 or 7, and thats when we wanted to swim because we got sunburnt. Also the beach for most days had the red flag (which means water is dangerous dont swim). When we looked at the water, it wasn't bad, but what do we know we're only tourists. Riu Santa Fe: First time to Cabo!

The hotel was very nice and clean. Everything was well organized and staff were very friendly. Drinks could have been better/more consistent. They varied from bar to bar. Enjoyed the view of the beach from the pools a lot!! Food was okay. About 8/10. The tortilla soup was excellent and we really enjoyed the fresh tacos from the square!

Riu Montego Bay: Riu Montego Bay

I love the resort because it's the first time I went to a resort. I can't believe there were so many varieties of food and the dishes were very tasty. I really enjoyed the food. Unlimited alcohol beverages and I drank a lot as well. I really had a good time. I wish I knew how to swim so I could have enjoyed the pool and the beach a little more. I would like to emphasize that all the workers at Riu are very respectable and they all value their job seriously. None were disrespectful!

Riu Flamingos: Friendly & Happy Staff

This is my first visit to Mexico and although I was unable to leave the resort (due to a fall downstairs) I loved the resort. The staff were friendly and happy, the food was great, the atmosphere was amazing. Weather was great (missed the rain by a day), pools were good, plenty of sun loungers, beach was sandy and long, sunsets were amazing. Riu Negril: Ok

Food was ok. Sports bar food was horrible. A fridge with tuna sandwiches is not a vacation. Water in pool bar was disgusting. Not enough bars or washrooms. Pool areas not clean enough. The driver of the bus to return to airport was insane. Doing 110km on winding roads was unacceptable. 4 people threw up on the bus.

Riu Montego Bay: Good resort

The hotel was nice and pool area was very nice...i just fid not like the beach found it not very clean and water not that clear...the entertainment staff were fantastic. Overall was a very nice hotel

Riu Playa Blanca: Great trip!

Overall a great experience! I traveled with my husband 6yo son and 8 month old baby and another couple with their 8month old baby. Resort was clean and hospitable food was great no issues. Im not one to expect 1st class treatment on a beer budget but I always felt safe everything was cleaned well and I didn't have high in the sky expectations. The big issue I read about was the washrooms so I timed how long it took to walk to them it took me 60 seconds to get from the pool to one washroom an [... read more]d 90 seconds to the other one just leave yourself a minute to go to the washroom and you will be fine!
