Valentin Perla Blanca: Good hotel but not 4 star

Pros: It has 2 pools, party pool and relaxing pool. beautiful beach. beautiful gardens. There were 4 kittens living in the garden. room was clean. Cons: They gave us a room with 2 single bed and pushed the bed together. our remote did not have a battery and it took them 2 days to give us battery. Food was almost the same for lunch and dinner and had very little variety. staff was not friendly and did not care much.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Amazing resort

Beautiful resort the grounds are well kept, rooms are nice and a good size food was good and staff was amazing. The pools are well kept, and the beach there is no words for and lots of good drinks and sun

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Ok for the price - but lots of quirk to work out

Rooms are beautiful and clean. Beach a bit small. Pools are great. Plenty of chairs. Staff amazing. Food is below average for Cuba. Options are limited -long line ups and wait time especially for a la carte restaurants. Pool towels were rare.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Absolutely Beautiful Resort and Staff

This has been our fourth time back to this resort, once Park Side, once Grand Villa, and twice Spa side, and we usually travel with a few other couples. We have been lucky to travel a fair bit and this is only one of two resorts we have ever repeated; it is the beauty of the location and the staff that will continue to draw us back again and again. Being  [... read more]on it's own Cayo (island) the beach is private and has no vendors or crowding, there is also no need to do the early morning "towel reserve" although some still do. The food is very good throughout the resort, sure I have had better in countries with no supply issues, but I always find more then what I need to eat. The rooms are very large and are well maintained. Being that this is a mature resort, the first built on the island, the vegetation is absolutely amazing making your walks and scenery enjoyable. Due to its location in a protected area the resort is setback from the beach and does entail a fair bit of walking - just something to take note of. The biggest draw for me is the staff - they are the reason we consistently return here. They are the kindest, most enagaging, and genuine staff I have ever met. They'll remember your favourite table, seat, drink by the second day. Gardners and maintenance staff will smile and give a genuine Hola when you cross. You can tip - or not - and you'll still get that same service (although, I always recommend tipping - you would tip back home, only difference here is the product has been prepaid). I would also recommend a day excursion into Remedious which is one of the towns the bus goes around on your way from the airport - the twon and church are beautiful.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: good exprience

the resort was clean and the staff were friendly and efficient. you did not have to go far for a drink or something to eat as there were many choices. the crazy lobster was the best restaurant choice to book. the small shack on the beach (left of the walkway) where the Canadian flag is, a delightful surprise....serving yummy bbque ribs and chicken sandwiches over a charcoal bbque. The rocky beach at the end of the walkway could be improved upon and a lack of any bathrooms near that beach as well [... read more]. The rocky area in the water and presence of a grassy area was a wonderful area that attracted sea life and entertainment. All in all this being our 5th trip to cuba and 2nd to cayo santa maria we enjoyed our stay. Thank you

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Amazing Resort

Everything about the resort was amazing ... the energy, beach, staff, grounds !! and the ICED COFFEE!!!! The little gem, Shelley made the stay so enjoyable ! her kindness :) Definitely will go back !

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great vacation

Traveled with a group of 8. Arrived at the resort around noonish our rooms were ready. Check in was a breeze. The grounds are beautiful well kept up. 2 big pools no problem getting chairs. Food was delicious. The French restaurant was my favourite they served a delicious lobster diner. The beach is beautiful unfortunately the week we stayed april 11-18 there was lots of wind everyday therefore the water was rough. I was nervous after ready numerous reviews about hot water. The beach BBQ is where we mostly ate our lunch it was delicious

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Beautiful resort

We did not get our accommodation together families were split up in different villas even if requested previously. Beach was beautiful but a bit hard to navigate for older folks. Line ups for food was long even in the buffet and no prebooking for the a la carte restaurants. Entertaining was good. Dancers were very good. Service and food was mediocre For the price it wasn't too bad

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Nice resort a little ways to go yet

The resort is nice and clean. Nice rooms.check-in was quick and smooth. I though I was getting a suite but being a new resort no one was clear on the 5 levels category rooms available so I didn't get what I was expecting but the room was nice. The buffet was not very good. Evelyn and Roger super nice!! So many flies in the buffet area was frustrating trying to eat in peace. Went outside to eat. Been to Cayo coco food was much better. The italien restaurant was very good. Went 3 times. Was there [... read more] -11 nights so towards the end I had no desire to eat much. The entertainment was not good except 1 show retro night. Beach party cancelled both Sundays to windy. It's very very windy in Santa Maria which I was not expecting 24/7 wind. Couldn't sit out and enjoy balcony much. Ocean view was obtrusted by big tree. Could not stay on the beach. Was disappointing. Could not get money for 2 days at exchange counter machine was down. Communication is bad there they said as well as spotty wifi. Wifi was not a big deal for me though. The bus for the market didn't show up at all on Saturday wasted a day going back and forth waiting for this bus. Overall 11 days was too long for this resort very very bored and dissatisfied. Flight delayed 5 hours not one told us at the resort was not in the book either until I started asking questions. Also not impressed with Cubana airlines. The one thing I like is the extra luggage allowance so we can bring stuff down for staff.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: 2 star resort

Rooms were nice, but no shower. Food wasn't good- long waits. My phone was stolen from my room by a staff and they told me they couldn't do anything about it Priveliage has no meaning, everything they said that comes with it did not. Pools were probably the nicest part of the resort.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Relaxing vacation

The staff are fantastic, grounds are well kept and being worked on non stop. The beaches are one of the best around with lots of beds available at all times and long enough to great walks. The food is good just not going to get a goid steak. I didn't have issues finding stuff to eat. We had one issue with toilet, but they came and fixed it. Always had lots of hot water. The rooms were amazing and very clean. The lobby bar had a drink menu with great variety more then we have seen in our t [... read more]ravels. Internet was good in the lobby, except after supper when more people go on. 2 CUC per hour. We went on bus and did a tour around just to look around 2 CUC each it was fun. Did jeep safari, be prepared it is a agriculture tour...lol still fun. Again staff are very accommodating. Would we go here again? Yes without any hesitations, 2 weeks of relaxation. Take bug spray.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great Resort...Great people

Memories Sanctuary resort Check in at arrival was effortless well prepared on resort staff end Grounds,pool,gardens and walk ways all very nicely kept and clean Beach was stunning and a major draw for all Room and building #60 was perfect and the staff were great especially Leon and Carlo our building managers Also a big thanks to Yarisdy(spelling?) our room chambermaid who also made sure we were comfortable each day. Guests paying beach and pool staff to hold theses cabanas while others (me) baked in the scorching sun and only to be asked to not use a cabana cause it was being held for someone. All other aspects of the resort are great and will be better with stronger WiFi in the future and ATM bank machines

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Customer Service needs so much work... long line ups ut beautiful resort

The hotel itself is beautiful. customer service is awful. we requested rooms in the same building as we booked at the same time with family and we were placed in building 16 and building 6 . so that was the start. changes took forever .. and the rooms were not always up to par.. one room low water pressure and water would not drain right. food not so great and long line ups for everything. I have no idea why trip central would have this as a gold star and would advise anyone to go here. we just  [... read more]made the most of the situation... beach was windy and water rocky and a bit rough for families and the elderly. my worst beach in Cuba.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Service, Beautiful Resort.

The Staff at this resort are all wonderful. Pedro in the Customer Service Department upgraded us to VIP because it was our 30 anniversary. Elvis does a fantastic job in the Italian ALaCarte The Snack bar is great for lunch. The food Is pretty typical for Cuba but the Staff make up for it. The rooms are awesome. Building 6 was nice and quiet. All in all I would give it a 3.5 star.

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Nice Resort

The resort is huge and requires a lot of walking to get anywhere on the property. It is new and modern and beautiful. I loved the high ceilings and open and airy feeling it had. The staff were friendly and attentive. We rarely had an issue with the employees. If we did, it was mostly due to the language barrier. Our room was nice and clean and modern. The shower was great. The only issues in the room were the ceiling fan didn't work, and the blanket on the bed wasn't washed. My key car [... read more]d also stopped working every couple of days and required me to have it reset at the front desk throughout the week. Our building was perfectly situated in the middle of the resort with easy access to the buffet and lobby and beach. It had great views of both the resort and the beach. The grounds are beautiful but because they are a newer property, they aren't very lush yet. It will be beautiful in a few years when it has the chance to grow. The loud areas of the resort aren't bad for the most part but it's a bit excessive at times. Especially at the pool when people are just sunbathing or dining at the snack bar and there is blasting music and no one is participating in the activities. Same with the beach area. It is a bit much. It vibrates throughout the resort and can be toned down a bit. The front desk is understaffed and check-in and check-out is a long process. And if there is an issue and you require the front desks help, it is a long wait. Booking a scuba diving excursion was extremely complicated. It shouldn't have been as difficult as it was. Our Sunwing Rep recommended the Carnival excursion which turned out to be an awful event and not worth the time or money. It unfortunately cost us a lot of pesos that we could have used elsewhere. The food is not good. We were told that we would not be getting good food in Cuba so we were prepared. Even at this new 5 star resort the food was not good. Instead of getting Cuban food in Cuba, which would be fantastic, we are given food that they think we want to eat. I'm not quite sure what food we are getting in Cuba. It is not appetizing at all. It has no flavour, no seasonings, it is not visually appealing, and is very difficult to eat at times. Hot dogs are used much too often at the buffet. It was hard to find something appetizing at most meals. The food was heavy and oily and we did not feel great after eating. We left the resort and at a Cuban restaurant one day and it was the best food we had during our week. The coffee at the resort was fantastic. The a la carte restaurants have a great atmosphere and dining in those restaurants was nice, but the food is not much different there. Still difficult to eat most times. A resort that size should have more than 4 a la carte restaurants. And guests should be able to book more than 3 a la carte's over the course of a week. The buffet does not vary enough. It is the same food at every meal for the most part. The drinks weren't consistent. They varied from bar to bar and bartender to bartender. It was clear that there is no bartending training. Sometimes the staff members were guessing what to do. The majority of the drinks were great but they were never the same twice. The lobby bar was very nice with lots of seating. It was so open and airy and had a great vibe to it. The bathroom facilities throughout the resort (excluding the hotel room bathroom) aren't the greatest. The entire week I did not find a bathroom stall door that closed or locked. Toilet paper and soap are scarce as well. The pools are odd at the resort and did not look inviting so we did not use them at all, but used the beach instead. The majority of the guest at the resort were French. We rarely encountered English speaking guests. They were not the most pleasant guests to be around but the resort cannot prevent that and the review of the resort should not be based on other guests behaviour. The food and the rude guests would probably keep me from visiting Cuba again but we had a great time during our week and would recommend the Valentin Perla Blanca to others.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Stunning Property!

We've never been anywhere tropical and what a delight as our first all inclusive to find such a heavenly peice of property such as this!! The beaches were INSANE! SO CLEAR! I Spent most my time at the beach while my husband made good friends with all the bartenders lol they would call him by name ! Food was great , not overly spiced but bring a little spice wheel if you feel you need it . Ocean View is a Must! worth the upgrade. Villa #9 room 947 i believe. wow! Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great getaway

Almost 1 1/2 hours from airport was a little much but worth it in the end. Beautiful maintained grounds. Lots of pools... if you want an active pool, right by a beer garden and ice cream! Want to relax....got more quiet pools. Buffet always had different varieties and the staff were great wherever you went, so friendly. The only issue which may pose a problem was the beach, or at least the access to the beach. There is a set of stairs, but maybe a couple of other sets along the property would be helpful for everyone to enjoy.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: A real comfort zone resort

The hotel is well proportioned, several entrances to the beach, can go for walks, swim & lounge, from the room to the lounge, to the pools and the little oasis. They have an adequate fitness centre and the 4 restaurants were fantastic. Food for thought, A very amazing selection of food in the buffet, and the cooking on the spot was very good, this is for all 3 meals of the day. 👍🏻

Valentin Perla Blanca: Best place I ever stayed in cuba

A lovely place well worth revisit, modern design and very attentive staff. Beach lacked a bit but made up for by modern pool design and outstanding service. I would definitely go back again. Relaxing sunny week away

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort!

This was our third visit to this resort in three years, the last two times during our anniversary. We noticed that there have been some renovations to the lobby area and looks very bright and inviting to relax and listen to music and enjoy your favourite beverage. You can get great cappuccinos here. We enjoyed the dining room for most of our meals. The staff there are so friendly and helpful. We had no issues with hot water or anything else in our room. Our maid did a great job keeping our room tidy. The only issue we had at all were bites received on our arms and legs which after doing some research looked to be bites from bed bugs. It would be good for the resort to check into this and if this is the case, do whatever is necessary to remove this problem. Other than this small issue we had a great time at the resort.
