Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Beautiful resort

If you are looking for a resort to bring young children, this is the place. We went 10 of us four were young children 8,7,4 & 3 and specifically chose Barcelo because we had been to the one in Mexico twice and loved it. The grounds are beautiful but did not like the buffet layout, two side by side which caused chaos trying to get your food. Speaking of buffet, did not care for the food at the buffet, the a la carte which you get 4 per week were much better and less hectic. Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Great family trip

Excellent hotel. Extremely clean and the staff is so kind and friendly. Our room was in the building at the beach so a fair bit of walking to the buffet restaurant but needed the walk with all the eating lol! There is also a smaller buffet restaurant at the beach open at lunch hour which is perfect. Lazy river is a must must must!!! Has a bar as u float by too which is only accessible if ur in the lazy river. Have no complaints at all about anything. Great rooms. Comfy beds. Large showers and [... read more] lots of hot water. We did bring Imodium as we were nervous reading some reviews and of course u can’t drink their water. We did have to take some Imodium but nothing serious just more precaution. Would absolutely go back. Trip Central is always our go to. Top notch and the site is so user friendly. Staff is always available to answer ur concerns. Wouldn’t travel without using them first!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Perfect Family Getaway

We are a family of 4; parents, toddler, and grandmother who travelled to Fantasia Punta Cana in December 2023 the week before Christmas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone travelling with young children. Everything is geared towards families, from the rooms with multiple beds, to the food options - even the French à la carte restaurant had a children's specific buffet with exceptional selections for kids. There were shows geared towards kids every evening, and there were little surprises around the property every day for kids to enjoy. The kids club was wonderful and the pools and water features were perfect for little ones. The staff were always friendly and responsive to any and all requests. The property is well maintained and clean. The beach was fantastic and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort.

Grand Bavaro Princess: Beautiful

Amazing cleanliness … great beach . Stunning view. Things for kids to do . Would have preferred more live performers at night instead of just music . Would come back definitely . Friendly staff. Bavaro is a place to come back to .

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Not an ideal resort

The rooms in this hotel are not the first freshness. The floor, look and design are outdated. The ceiling in every room is leaking (my friends also talked about such a problem). Room cleaning is good. The staff is friendly and always fulfilled our requests. But the most spoiling of our vacation was Saturday, when a lot of local residents came to the resort. The staff immediately became very unfriendly. There was a long queue at the restaurant, we had to return after an hour and a half, when the  [... read more]locals had left. After, the locals showed themselves. They had fun too openly, and in the morning they left behind a mountain of garbage. We are not impressed with this resort. For this time we endured, but I will not come back here again. They are not worth 4 stars.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: My happy place

I have found that the Iberostar hotels have a great vibe for a relaxing vacation. This resort is clean, the staff so, so friendly and accommodating. You can either join in with the games or just relax and read books, vacation your way. The ocean was red flag our entire time there but we were okay with that, you cannot control weather.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Good resort !

Nice room ! Good service, good food, good drinks, good location, Entertainment ok , need more entertainment, more activities, Building needs elevators , too many stairs to up and down for old people like us,

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Good Resort

The check-in and check out is a disaster!! They don't put enough people behind the counters for the amount of people that are checking in or checking out. the wait times are very frustrating and very slow, not a good start or end to a holiday. the grounds are nice, food is good,

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Family Trip

The hotel was very clean. Water park was good for kids that were tall enough. Never a long wait. Food was good and people were so nice. No safety concerns and always eager to help. Overall a great option for families.

Ocean El Faro: Amazing Resort is right.

We visited the resort Dec. 15-22/23 and we had a wonderful time and we would go back in a heart beat, the pools and lazy river were very clean and the water temp was just right. the grounds, public washrooms were also very clean, great job. the food and service at the buffet was outstanding and also the a la carte restaurant, so good. i cant say anything wrong with the resort and we will return our next trip.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Disappointed Review

Quite disappointed with our experience, however, I will say that the staff were so friendly & incredibly kind throughout. The mountain views were stunning, and everything was clean and well kept. The music played at the pool was terrible (Adele, really?). Why not Soca, or Buchata? The pool was clean and appeared well kept. The beach wasn't maintained, and only saw it raked/tidied once during our 5 day stay. Our room smelt like mildew, and was quite musty. Very dated furniture. Our AC didn't  [... read more]quite work and felt like it was on 'fan' setting, but the temp was comfortable enough for us. If you want to keep things in the safe it's an additional $3 a day (that's such a money grab). If you want A La Carte, they try talking you into spending an additional $25/day to become VIP, otherwise you have no chance at getting a reservation. And you're required to come to the front desk at 8a.m. to book this reservation. The food was decent at the buffet, and service staff were attentive and nice. We went to two shows, both dancing entertainment. Very enjoyable. Our vacation was nice, but we wouldn't recommend this resort and will definitely look at a different spot when we return to DR.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Resort good value

Resort as good as ever - 11 previous visits. Would recommend to anyone. However Sunwing service for departure was horrible at airport and it was not airport staff all on Sunwing. I will avoid Sunwing for future travel.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Old resort New name

Jewel Punta Cana (JPC) is the new name (owner?) of this resort. Every thing looks old, but is well maintained under the good management. The staff are friendly, trying to please guests. We have had a comfortable, relaxing week here. The main issue is food. We ate mainly at JPC's buffet, and once at Sea Grill restaurant. Mostly, they are not well prepared, often salty, nothing delicious.

Ocean El Faro: Loved every minute

This resort was beautiful, clean and well maintained. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly. We loved the pools and entertainment crew. The bowling alley was so much fun. I would suggest more pool tables please. The casino is unnecessary in my opinion. I loved the a la carte dinners.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Very nice resort

My stay at the Senator was somewhat enjoyable. On my first day there I wanted to take a shower, but there was no hot water, I called the front desk and they said they would send someone over to fix it. On day two they had a power outage for about 13 hours. I have to say even with no power, The staff, was still able to do a really great buffet breakfast. Day two and three I complained again about hot water they were going to send someone over. Finally, I went to the front desk and spoke to Robin  [... read more]and he said there is no hot water in the resort at all. They’re having a problem . I would’ve thought they could tell me that right from the beginning. He said if you’re not happy, you’re more than welcome to go to customer service and complain.?? The resort was very clean very well kept as were the rooms. The staff was wonderful very friendly, always helpful . The buffet was great. They had so much variety in food. I really enjoyed tropical Avenue, I was able to find a few things to buy to take home with me. On the couple of rainy days, I used the gym, which was extremely nice and well equipped. I don’t think I would return to the Senator again, even though there were some positive things about it. I must’ve picked the wrong time of year to go because 3 1/2 out of the 7 days we had rain. (Nothing that the resort could control). I gave you a lower rating on the value because of the hot water situation and the lack of not being honest with your guests about it.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: No 5 star hotel

the reception area is magnificent and the main bar on the lower level is open and bar staff are very good. A Big high 5 to Antony and Manuel! Try Manuel's specials. Lots of top shelf liquors and while restaurants are plentiful, they do not ooze the 5 star experience. All staff, from gounds keepers to bar staff were happy to help and pleasant, always a smile. Not so consistant with staff in restaurants. Seating before 8pm was a "normal" challange. We stayed in the Adult Section; beach area for Adult only was very limited. The Balinese beds were very comfortable and spacious, but limited in number and located mostly around the pool. The resort itself is huge and is in the center of the Colonial and Mirage complexes. Kind of sandwiched in between the two other properties. The grounds were maticulous, wish the hotel would incorporate a tip option for grounds keepers. The wines were Spanish, but not of high quality. Food in the a la cartes was a bit hit and miss. The French was not good on our first visit, but on our next it was like a totally different experience. Service in a la cartes, is a bit chaotic. You are asked what you want to drink, order then halfway through your meal, you ask again or just go to the bar yourself. It seems that they have enough staff, but duties may be too specific for each of the staff. Appears like organized chaos. Get one waiter to handle everyones beverage and meal orders, then if they need help, have them ask for assistance, rather than relying on the water guy to fill your glass, the one waiter to bring your drink, the other waiter to bring your food. The staff clearing plates needs to be more cautious of liquids on plates, I got my pants christened with beef juice when they removed my pate. I personally found that the rooms are dated and need attention to temperature controls actually being operational. Our A/C was either not working or on full "icy chill". We had 4 maintenance calls and spent around 4 hours in our room waiting for them to arrive, assess and not be able to correct the A/C issue. We hung a bath towel up on a hook , it fell off; yet no one ( chamber maid) thought to call maintenance, we weren't going to wait around for them to come to fix it. The toilet roll cover fell off, same deal. The shower was amazing, large rainfall shower head and lots of hot water. Bar service on the beach, yes they come to you... was excellent. The two that stuck out the most was Jenny and Judit( Judy) were great. As was the bartender Francisca. The unsung gem was the coffee shop on the 2nd level, overlooking the beach. Always had snacks and beverages from 7-11. Ladies working there are sweet. Love that you don't have to worry about your towels being taken. Just visit the Club near the bar, to get fresh towels, drop off used ones...it is simple. The SPA seemed nice from what i saw of it. All be it, a bit on the expensive side. These ladies are not RMT's but the massage was very good. Check in was a bit of a drag, our room wasn't ready...and lets face it , after a long day of travelling, you just want to get to your room , change and hit the beach. The water was clean, no accumulation of seaweed. Grooming was done daily and garbage was picked up often. Tourists can be very inconsiderate of their environement. Checkout was quick and painless. I didn't see the need myself for a butler, other than getting daily text messages sent to you and the odd booking of services. There was little for them to do. They do try hard, greet you everyday. Buy cigars on the beach! Vendors are licenced and product is good. Buffets were very good, we ate at them the most...the only issue was any dietary requirements ( GF) were not really addressed other than prepackaged muffins and sometimes buns. I'm glad I brought my own breads with me. Beach is long but not very wide at the adult section. You feel some days that you're being sat on top of. Evening entertainment was of high quality and shows were varied. We give this resort an overall 3.5 star rating not a 5 for sure.

Iberostar Waves Dominicana: Wonderful vacation at this resort!

Lovely vacation here. The resort is about 28 years old and could use a facelift, as the Punta Cana next door just received. I had a peak a couple of days before it reopened. Just lovely. The rooms are very dated, but spotless, as is the whole facility. My hat is off to them! Staff is very well trained and extremely attentive, outgoing and polite. Just lovely. The food, selection and presentation is fantastic! One minor complaint was communication a couple of times and bartending. I ordered a Te [... read more]quila Sunrise one morning and was presented with a Greyhound(vodka and grapefruit juice). A Sunrise should not be stirred at all. They stirred every one I had there. On another note, I ordered Barcelona rum with pineapple juice one evening and received bourbon instead of rum. The day of our departure, I walked to the lobby to confirm our airline pick up to travel to the airport. The young woman at the concierge desk had no clue as to my question. Did not at all understand me. She was very polite but should have not been placed at this station. Overall, a wonderful 10 days in paradise. I will attempt to book the Iberostar Grand for a trip this coming March.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Just incredible!

Everything is spotless, you're at the nicest resort on the beach, food is awesome, staff are very friendly. Beach is clean and you can walk it for hours in either direction. Quieter atmosphere at night after the shows end.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Nice Place - Amazing Staff

This is our second time here to this resort. I would say that it is a average resort that is not too big. I think this attracts a lot of people here, especially Canadians who are very friendly. The food is good, there's always something for everyone, not over the top, but good. The staff is very friendly and the beach is great and easy to get into ocean for a swim. The pool is just one central pool with a bar, but it has everything you need for a great price. Temptation Miches Resort 21 Plus: Terrible resort

For a resort that is 1yr old…I see it being run down in 5. There was only a an average of 150 people the whole time. Weather in that area is cool and rainy. Drive from airport is 1.5 hrs away and in bad roads. Food, terrible, drinks gross. Overall a disappointing trip. All the negative reviews I heard before the trip, happened to be true. I do not recommend nor would I ever tell my friends to go.
