The Verandah Antigua: Two Resorts in One!

The resort felt very spacious and I could always find a private area to relax. There were many activities to keep busy: water sports, mini golf, games, coffee house. I also loved hopping over to the adult only hotel next door when there were too many kids.

The Verandah Antigua: Relaxing vacation at verandah resort and spa.

Calm, turquoise water, powdery white sand, very spacious property and hot sun with constant breeze. Tasty food and enough a la cart restaurant options to choose from and overall great service. Having access to the " adult only sister hotel -pineapple grand' was definite bonus !! Opportunities: rooms need a bit of update as do not reflect the 4 1/2star rating.

Ocean Point Resort and Spa: Great Vacay

Really enjoyed our stay at Ocean Point and finally found a place we’d love to return to next year. What we liked about it is what it didn’t have. Didn’t have: Poolside DJ (annoying) 6 restaurants (the one we got was great) No long walks to any amenities (compact layout) No loud activities (peaceful) What it had was: Huge pool Nearby bar Nearby restaurant Only 55 rooms This place is not for everyone. Jolly Beach Antigua: Beautiful Resort

My 3 adult Son's and I stayed at the Jolly Beach Resort and Spa for 1 week from March 30th to April 6th., our first impressions of the resort were favourable, the lobby area and grounds were extremely clean and with the background of the lovely pool area and gorgeous turquoise water of the Caribbean sea, plus the mountainous backdrop was absolutely awe inspiring. I had emailed the resort in advance and requested that our rooms be close together, ( we got adjoining rooms) since standard rooms do not have refrigerator, I requested at least 1 of the rooms have one (I did receive a fridge at a cost of $50. US per week), I also paid for internet in the room at a cost of $70. per week (it did not work in room, but did work fairly well on balcony). I was happy that all of my requests had been met, but found the extras to be a little pricey when figuring in conversion. We loved the food at the buffet and found it to be a good variety and delicious, we also went to the Mexican a la carte and had no trouble at all making reservations the day before, it was also wonderful. We were very happy with the entertainment and found it to be top notch. We thought the drinks at the bars were very good and the service was at a reasonable pace, we ate at the BBQ for lunch every day and it was also good quality food. We liked the closeness of the grocery store and it was lovely to wander over to the marina, one day we had our lunch at the marina (Melini's) the pizza was awesome. I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family and would return if the price was right.

The Verandah Antigua: Wonderful family vacation! Didn't want to leave

The resort exceeded our expectations. Antigua is a great island, plenty to do and see. The Verandah Resort, was amazing. We will be going back and feel comfortable recommending this resort. The rooms were spacious and clean, the gym was excellent, the food was great, and the restaurants had enough choice. The staff was so friendly and accommodating on all accounts. You could tell that anyone leaving that day was very sad to be leaving. Can't wait to go back!!

Jolly Beach Antigua: Best Beach, Staff and Sunsets on the Island

Went March 16 - 27th. Everything is as advertised. Resort was first built in 1979 and has aged. All however is super clean and everthing works. The grounds are very well maintained. Our room was a standard with a King, and while it was smaller than some newer resorts, nothing to complain about. Some great singers, musican's and performing artists entertained us each night. Lots of fund in the evening. Have been to Caribbean and several of the Islands over 30 times, and the Jolly Beach ranks amongst the best beaches bar none. Every night a glorious sunset as the resort faces straight on west. Being on the Caribbean Sea side, also, the water is calmer than the Atlantic Sea side Food was all very good. Perhaps not as many choices in some larger resort but still plenty of choices and the buffet changed up every night. Had some of the best fish we have ever tasted at Lydia's. The only 2 items of minor concern that people should be aware of: 1) Saving chairs under the beach canopies. We found for the 11 days we were there, you needed to be out well before 6:00 am in order to secure chairs by placing your towels and saving yourself a spot. We couldn't sleep one night, and awoke at 4 am and looked out to see there were already towels placed on chairs under several canopies.saving spots We did also one day overhear 2 couples say they paid (believe a local kid) to save chairs for them so they didnt have to get up so early. We did advise the resort in our comment card, and hope the resort addresses puts an end to this. 2) Reservation system for dinner. They need to improve upon the system of lining up for dinner reservations the day before to get into non buffet restaurants. People would line up 30 minutes before the start time of reservations in the sun, to get a reservation for Lydia's. For the Italian restaurant, One lady was 7th in line and did not get a reservation. They need to rethink how reservations can be made, so lining up doesn't have to happen and guests have the opportunity to go to at least some number of times, to one or more of the specialty restaurant's depending on the length of stay. These 2 issues did not distract from us having a wonderful time.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Best bang for your buck

It was my first time staying in Antigua, and it won't be last! Everything from the room to the food, to the beach were outstanding. The staff is what made my stay truly enjoyable. They are very friendly, helpful, and willing to make sure your stay is unforgettable. BEACH is very clean, and merchants do not hassle you. FOOD - selection of the buffet or A la carte : Mexican (I thought was the best), Italian (books up quickly), Seafood ( has a great location - on the beach). ROOM is a bit dated, [... read more] but they are clean and has a great view of the beach (most of all the rooms are beach view) The staff are wonderful! They are what make the little "flaws" the resort may have disappear. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing all inclusive vacation. NOTE: It is not for someone who is picky, or someone who expects a 5 star hotel. After all it was a great price, you cannot expect to get everything and a good deal.

Jolly Beach Antigua: It was fantastic!

It was great food with lots of picks! Jerk chicken was one of the best. Their seafood resturant was fantastic. Their staff was so pleasant. The beach was beautiful! Bed so comfortable. Great view from balcony! Did not have to walk forever to get anywhere. Everything easily accessible! I am absolutely going back there!

Jolly Beach Antigua: Jolly Good Time

The resort is positioned on one of the best beaches in the West Indies. Beautiful white firm sand, minimal rock and coral to stub your toe and steady even slope to wade out into the wonderful Caribbean waters which were calm most of the time. Be prepared to get up around 5 am if you want to reserve an umbrella and chairs on the beach though which was a bit maddening. Otherwise you will be baking in the sun. The rooms were small but accommodating; they were not meant to be over used. The food was okay and too plentiful at times. I think the resort itself could use a fresh coat of paint to spruce things up. It is like an old worn but comfortable shoe. The power catamaran, aptly named "Excellence", proved to be an excellent excursion providing an enjoyable ride around the picturesque island; a must-do on your check list. The resort also had a lot of fun nights of entertainment including a Full Moon Dinner, Limbo Man Show (my personal favorite), Karaoke Night, Name That Tune and 80's Music Night. All in all, we had a Jolly Good Time at this well named resort!

Jolly Beach Antigua: Great resort

This resort was very nice. We stayed in a super saver room. It was small but good enough to sleep in. The shower didn't work properly when we first got there but they sent maintenance to fix it the next morning and it was fine after that. The resort was clean. The staff were really friendly. The food was good. The nightly entertainment was mediocre (except for the fire show). The beach is gorgeous. The kids pool is dangerous. It has these random humps in the pool. Jolly Beach Antigua: Good for the price

Beautiful beach, great staff! Breakfast was great, beach BBQ also quite good. Could use a little more variety at dinner, food became very repetitive after a few days. Need to improve the reservation process for a la carte restaurants (waiting in line each day was bad enough but then only to be told reservations were full is terribly frustrating) Would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a real budget vacation.

This resort is definitely no more than a 3 star, but two things that are outstanding are the staff and the beach. The staff try hard and the beach is glorious. Food is fair to occasionally good in the buffet, seafood restaurant was very good, mexican good, Italian although a buffet and a real chore to get a reservation was, once there, good. Room was small, dated and had a tiny bathroom, Cold showers on 3 occasions, but the king size bed was comfortable. Pillows too hard for my taste. Room was [... read more] clean but stained in places, walls, floors etc. NO BUREAU, or chairs. Weird. We knew this in advance so brought plastic baskets for storage and extra hangers. We were on ground floor and there was a nice patio with two chairs and a padded bench that you could actually lie on. Maintenance issues included, dripping water from ceiling and non - functioning AC. Drip was fixed, AC not. There was no outlet near the mirror for hair dryer, but they did provide a long extension cord. It had to be put away after each use so as to avoid a tripping hazard. People seemed to enjoy excursions, we did not make any as we have been to Antigua many times. Beach party was nice, but lines were horrendous and that made it less than pleasant. Some entertainment good, others not so much but you cannot get away from the sound because it is so loud and I find 11 pm too late for my taste. Still, other people seemed to enjoy it. Reservation system cumbersome and began at 4 in the afternoon, but people lined up at 3 so it essentially wrecked a couple of hours each day because you can only book a day in advance. Italian restaurant was beyond hard to get into and they do not give you the straight story on it. Finally, and most annoyingly, there is not enough shade on the beach or at the pool and people were quite literally reserving chairs in the middle of the night. I am not kidding. 6 am was too late. My friend started going out around 5. Ridiculous!!!!! This is easily rectified with the addition of more umbrellas. Surely not an overwhelming expense. One last thing, do not get in room internet as service is very sporadic at best, and there are problems with apple products especially.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Starfish Jolly Beach Resort far exceeded my expectations as a 3* resort

This resort far exceeded my expectations for a 3*. Beautiful beach to walk on. We upgraded to a Hotel room as the Supersaver rooms are good for one person not a couple. Rooms were dated but very very clean and the bed were very comfortable. A comfortable bed is very important to me. All staff were extremely friendly. Royalton CHIC Antigua: Great spot

From the airport to the resort is about a 25 minute ride. Resort was close to St John, about a 15 minute cab ride, costing 12 u.s. dollars one way. Only one ala cart on the water, was an extra cost for steak or lobster, which I thought was a little pricey! The restaurant were breakfast/lunch/supper served, was clean, food was good. Shady spots were a little scares, but the early worm gets the shade! The bar on the beach had lots of variety. Wadadli beer isn’t too bad! Heleen makes the best bbc...which you have to try! A swimup bar at the pool would be nice! Apparently Sunwing has purchased this resort, changes coming. All in all nice resort, all staff from Debbie at front desk to Malaky taking luggage to room, Ed at the night bar in the lobby...all staff are friendly, helpful and would definetly go back!

Jolly Beach Antigua: very laid back, comfortable,

The "first impression" was o.k... but once you settle in for the first couple hours, that changes. hotel is older and remember, they weather the storms. Very clean, I had standard room, very comfortable, plenty of fresh white clean towels and face cloths. plenty of soap and shampoo for the week. All rooms have ocean view which is a bonus.. Staff are most pleasant making sure your stay is relaxed and pleasant and will attend to all your needs.. 3 great restaurants, Mexican, Italian, Seafood/fi [... read more]sh, aside from the buffet area with great food. Also has BBQ Grill near pool area. .Pool area plenty of lounges. The beach is very, very clean and pleasant packed white sand for walking. end to end walk is about 30 minutes. , . Ten minute walk away from the resort, is a market / boating for sails, real estate, good restaurants, coffee shops, etc. and super market . neat place to walk to and meet locals and other expats and tourists. One thing I did notice at the resort is they truly practice the elimination of plastic and paper waste. Including the buffet, you will always get a linen hand wipe with your utensils wrapped inside- no paper napkins. No plastic throw aways that litter all over,.. there are some paper coffee cups at the outdoor coffee location in case you wish to take it to your room … If this resort can do it, then a lesson for other resorts to follow suit. impressive.! I would definitely return to this resort - very safe for solo travellers. The people of Antigua are wonderful and very caring.

The Verandah Antigua: Everything we expected!

The resort is large with lush foliage. There is a lot of walking or shuttle service to get around. The food was excellent. The service was good. The resort is kept extremely clean, even the bathrooms at the pool and beach. The activities are limitless with multiple things for all ages. We spent a week with 2 teenage boys who never rested for a minute. This resort was everything we expected.

Ocean Point Resort and Spa: Restful vacation/friendly atmosphere

Very picturesque resort with a lovely large swimming pool directly on the ocean at the north end of Antiqua. (Approx. 12 min from the airport). The dining which is buffet style provides a good selection of primarily mediterranean inspired cuisine.. We enjoyed the meals and desserts and the dining staff worked hard to see to everyone's needs. Liqueurs were not included in the package. The small size of the resort fosters a friendly atmosphere amongst the guests. We met many lovely couples from England, Canada, Germany and Italy. Most guests were likely age 50 and up during the adult only stay of our vacation. The beach front is small and not conducive to long strolls and the ocean, except for a small band of clear water is vegetation infused. If you like to swim in the ocean you have to pay to be shuttled or taxied to a nearby beach. There were plenty enough loungers, but more umbrellas around the pool would have been nice. During the week of our stay, entertainment in the form of a band took place on 2 separate nights. Organized sports and activities were non-existent. All in all a very restful, enjoyable holiday.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: In desperate need of customer service training

This hotel is on a gorgeous white sand beach on the lovely Dickenson Bay. The food at the resort was terribly lacking in available options. The food quality itself was decent. The biggest issue with the resort is the absolute indifference shown by most of its employees toward its guests. Basic customer service such as greetings and acknowledging the client was sorely lacking. This absolutely must be fixed for this resort to improve. This woukd be step 1. Step 2 would be offering more f [... read more]ood choice. One buffet a beach snack bar and one a la carte only is offered. There was very little variety in the tiny buffet offering. This needs to be addressed. Step 3 would be modernization of the lobby, rooms and resort as a whole really. I understand renovations are coming. The Pool is quite small and murky. I would not return to this resort barring massive improvements.

Ocean Point Resort and Spa: Quaint resort

A beautiful adults only Antigua resort with very friendly staff. The rooms were very clean and overlook the gorgeous ocean. The Italian buffet meals were delicious and had many selections. All staff was attentive and made us feel right at home. Speciality coffee was only available after 10am. Packed cooler lunches available for day trips! The hotel taxi staff was outstanding! Can’t wait to return for our girls trip again.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Jolly Beach!!!

This has been our 2nd time visiting a island of paradise!!! This is our go to place, with a staff that is amazing for entertainment, food, and smiles. The resort runs along a scenery that is fulfilling to the eyes and heart! Had a beautiful time as always! Exactly what the mind and body needs! Thank-you Jolly Beach!! See you next year
