Ocean Eden Bay: Will never go back! My husband and I had such high hopes

TLDR: This resort is NOT safe or secure! Do NOT trust the staff. Do NOT trust that the safe in your room is secure. If you are currently at, or going to this resort, keep ALL your valuables on you at all times and not in your room! Search these reviews for keyword "security" Full story: We arrived on a Sat evening. The instant we arrived, staff were on us immediately about buying things. I was not even checked in yet and some lady was pressuring us with sales and demanding we attend a breakfa [... read more]st meeting the following morning so they could "make their commission". I politely declined the breakfast meeting, stating I was on vacation and not making appointments. The following morning the same woman called our room and woke us up before 8 am asking us to meet her in the lobby for the meeting. We declined again and were later forced to go to the lobby to tell her to leave us alone the rest of the trip. On the Wednesday of our trip, while getting ready to go for lunch, two men knocked on our door saying "room service" and before we could even get to the door to answer, they let themselves into our room. Upon seeing my wife, one man was visibly startled and immediately stated they had the wrong room and left. I exited the room and took photos of these men. They were NOT in uniform and did NOT have any room service items with them. One man left as soon as I came out and took his picture, the other was photographed speaking/coordinating with our cleaning lady. Our room had already been cleaned, mini bar stocked and no room service was ordered. After their departure, our keys no longer worked on our door. We had them reprogrammed TWICE and they still didn't work. We reported the incident and we were immediately getting the brush off from management saying they don't know how long it would take to get security to speak to and fill a report but it could be a long time. I demanded to speak to security and said I would wait. When security eventually walked us to our room, even THEIR keys would not open our room and they were forced to remove the access panel and bypass the lock. They stated several times that it was a "coincidence" that our lock was no longer working IMMEDIATELY after two strange men (who security admitted were not employees after seeing my photos) let themselves into our room. The security officer told us that if we felt unsafe, we could change rooms and I asked what the point would be if they have access to any room they want? The security officer said we should put our belongings in the room safe and I asked her to check her resort's google reviews because we just had while waiting for her, and several of them state people have had items stolen from their safes. (This is beyond the fact that resort staff have the ability to open safes for guests who forget their codes) The security officer stated guest services would be in touch with us, but nobody ever said a word to us about this on a customer service level. After this incident, we made sure to keep our valuables with us, to include our credit cards. We then began leaving the "do not disturb" sign on our door and discretely marking the door to know if it had been opened. Of course, we later found that people had again been in our rooms late in the evening on the Thursday! Every single staff member we spoke to about this incident did not seem surprised by the intruders at all! Several other guests from our particular building that we spoke to also got locked out of their rooms ON THE SAME DAY! More "coincidences"?! Beyond the security issues, the service from staff is hit or miss. Sales pressure is near constant as you walk around the resort.. from your standard excursions and meal upgrades etc, to all kinds of staff, including grounds keepers, trying to sell me drugs (one guy even followed me into the bathroom) and lifeguards trying to sell us a floaty. I will NEVER come back to this resort. This whole experience makes me want to avoid the whole country moving forward. Vacation is supposed to be fun, not scary. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESORT.

Ocean Maya Royale: We will be back+

We had an amazing vacation at the Ocean Maya Royal. The resort was beautiful, the staff went above and beyond to keep us happy. The food was top notch....the alacarte restaurants were beyond amazing. The only negative thing I have to say is regarding the lack of shade available around the pools. Some of us enjoy the heat and the pools but cannot take too much sun. We had to be at the pool by 7:30 to get a chair with an umbrella. Yes, there were a few umbrellas at chairs but most of them  [... read more]were reserved for people who never showed up. They built a couple of palopas (sp)? By the bar towards the end of the week. A great idea, but not an area that could be used long term to relax out of the sun. Perhaps erecting a large gazebo with comfy chairs and tables would provide some "out of the sun respite " for us shade lovers. Even in the pool the only place to get out of the sun was under the bridge....not a big area at all. Besides this concern, the resort is top level. We will definitely be back!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great trip!

We just returned from the Ocean Riviera Paradise. We had a great trip and I would return. My big issue is the beach. There really isn’t any. We were able to get seats near the beach but then there were so many rocks it was hard to go into the water. We would walk to the left and use the next beach where I feel the resort had added sand and it would be nice if the Ocean did this as well. It was hard to get drinks in the buffet in the morning. We didn’t use the pools so I can’t comment on those.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Wonderful Resort

The Ocean Coral and Turquesa exceeded all my expectations! The grounds are gorgeous, great pools and have every amenity you’d need or want, including a bowling alley! We were there as a family and kids were beyond happy there. The rooms were lovely and kept spotless. Food was great and lots of choices. Most of all, we appreciated the amazingly kind and friendly staff. They were the best!

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Beautiful Resort!

My wife and I were there from April 19th-26th and was extremely happy with the entire hotel! The staff were always pleasant and the grounds were immaculate! We stayed at the adults only side and enjoyed a 2nd floor room overlooking the pool in building 12... We ate 80% at the El Beso Adults only restaurant for breakfast and lunch at the beach. The restaurant was small with limited choice buffet style however there were enough choices to keep us happy! Ocean Blue and Sand: Great Resort!!!

The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We loved the mature growth. Restaurants were awesome. Buffet was big and spacious. There was a good selection of delicious food. The beach was nice but we did find it was crowded and hard to find chairs in the shade. You can walk on the beach for miles each way. Our room was a bit dated but very clean. There was a good selection of alcoholic beverages and the wine was good. We would definitely go back.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Wonderful resort and great vacation, can't wait to return!

Just returned a week ago from Ocean Blue and Sand. We flew with Sunwing (unfortunate delays) but the flight was good. We arrived around midnight with an easy check in and a buggy drive to our room. The room was clean, stocked and cool (Block 4). Other than a very heavy patio door, we had no issues with our room. We were not privileged and had a wonderful stay. I loved the layout of this resort, its not overly big. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Keep in mind that there are no elevators and you do have to walk a short distance to access anything...we're middle aged and it was easy :) Cleaning staff- were wonderful, we received anything we requested and then some extras, beautiful flowers that decorated our bathroom and curtains, thank you ladies. I want to note that we always left a small note and a tip for both the mini fridge stockers and our cleaning ladies, who were always friendly and they work very hard. I admire all the staff at this resort as they are always friendly (except the big man at the dive shop, he was a bit testy?), they work so hard for so little. Food- with having a bit of a restricted diet, I found plenty of delicious food, buffet was my favorite. We did eat at the Steakhouse and Route 66, which was very good. We had no issues getting a reservation at the Buffet lobby or waiting in line at Route 66, my recommendation is to show up early, and check to see which ones are open each day. Drinks- We enjoyed a bit of a variety which were good. Some bartenders mixed stronger drinks than others, so if you prefer a weaker drink, advise them. We averaged $1/ drink for a tip, sometimes a bit more. If you like wine, you can check with the staff at the front counter in the Buffet, they may sell you a bottle (; Beach & Pool-I'm there for water, sun and sand so the Beach was beautiful, they have done a lot of work since the hurricane. It would be helpful if the resort could acquire a few more chairs/umbrellas for both the pool and the beach to accommodate the guests. We had to look around a bit for chairs with NO Towels, or put some empties together, no big deal, vacation goes on. The only issue we had was with a guest making a smart remark 3 hours later about removing their one towel from a set of three chairs. I will also add that we had asked a staff member, he advised us it was fine and if the guests didn't return by a certain time we could have the umbrella as well, they didn't. We later offered up our chairs and umbrella to a family with children. So if in doubt ask a staff member or someone close by if the guests have been gone for awhile, just be respectful. Note of caution, take a good bug spray and bug ointment!! The no-seeums are fussy and don't bite everyone, but if they like you, they like you a lot. They leave tiny welts and they can get itchy. They like to hang out by the bushes around the buildings and by the beach. We did do a little shopping at the two shops, and the pricing was okay, it is a resort. Bring sunscreen from home, theirs is a bit high to purchase. We did purchase a couple of pictures as well. There are resort photographers that will be taking your pictures if you like, you can access the pictures through an app or at the gift shop. They average $20 each us or less depending on the amount you get. We enjoyed the resort so much we didn't do any excursions this time, but you can certainly access them through your travel company's rep at the resort (this would be my recommendation, depending on your insurance coverage). There are also many other excursion reps on the resort, ask for pricing and what's included, they will work with you. It was very helpful to check out Trip central reviews, Facebook and download the H10 app, they will supply you with a wealth of information on this resort. Lastly, make sure you go see Pinky, the local Flamingo... he's waiting for you!! I would highly recommend this resort, one of the best we've been too! Enjoy!!!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Resort worthwhile visiting

I've been for a 3 nights long solo last-minute vacation as a women in this resort. Firstly, I would like to say that I felt safe and respected in every moment. Secondly, visually resort looks amazing, and customer service is impeccable. Theirs "all inclusive" service really shows what these words mean. I was amazed by the number of activities they're offering, food and beverage options. Rooms are clean and spacious. I would recommend this place, and I will go back there for sure!

Ocean El Faro: Amazing resort

Pretty much loved everything about this resort, all the restaurants were very good. We didn't enjoy the buffett but that was us. Plenty of pools to choose from. Staff all very friendly. If you're a beach walker this wasn't for you, it was all full of rocks you couldn't really get to the ocean if you manged to no where to walk full of rocks. If you're taking kids on this resort it's awesome for them Plenty for them to do.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Lovely Resort

The resort is very well maintained. Very clean and very friendly,helpful staff. No line ups for buffet. Several a la carts do not require a reservation. The Steak House was very nice but the rib eye steak was very tough. The steak at the Blue Moon was excellent. We could not get in the Japanese one unless we bought a US $50 bottle of wine. We did not not. Lots of loungers at the pool but they could use more umbrellas, several were broken. We walked down the beach a way and sat on a towel, of resorts that were close by, which was fine. Very pleased with the gym and walking track around the resort. Overall, a wonderful vacation!

Husband and I just returned from a week at this resort - we really liked it it was more on the casual side which is what we were looking for our room was a el beso swim up (adult only) it was great our housekeeper was fantastic - mini fridge consisted of bottles of water 1 can each flavour pop and generally 2 beer we left a note with small Tip and requested more beer daily the amount varied from 3 4 or 6. There’s a snack bar at the el beso pool too was closed a couple times in our week. No towels or clothes are allowed to be hung in balcony you will get a letter or visit asking to remove. This resort is not known for the beach it’s not very wide and there are massive black sandbags on shore to stop erosion - the beach is busy so you need to go early. There is no lack of dining at this resort although a couple places you do need to make reservations day of either on the app or at the main buffet counter. The food was good we had no issues. Staff in all areas were great. There are a couple Designated smoking areas - ppl were smoking off to side at adult Pool. There are spider monkeys at this resort which was cool To see but you need to be there at certain times also depends on how hot it is they hide in trees when too hot out. There’s a cart shuttle to help pp get back and forth we only used once the resort was very walkable and it we found wasn’t as stretched out as some are where you are constantly walking long distances. Be wary of the shopping tour that may be included in travel package it is advertised as 5th avenue but has a jewelry and tequila stop first which are only to sell you things and ends with van dropping off in random Parking lot away from 5th avenue with no direction and you will be told to be back in couple hours or will leave without you - this company should be giving out maps not just leaving tourists in a unknown area with threats of leaving without you - not recommended - cancun airport was a disaster they are not Manned at immigration for many planes landing at same Time the wait with thousands of Other ppl took us over 2 hrs at just immigration booths - pack your patience

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: A decent 4 star resort

My husband and I stayed at the adult-only El Beso side in mid-April in a prestige ground level room in building 2 and here are the pros/cons of the resort: Pros: - SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING EVERYWHERE! Best I've had. - Spacious, updated room with large patio and lots of quiet and peaceful surroundings - pools are beautiful and we could always find a chair - grounds are kept up beautifully - close to the airport Cons: - beach was full of smelly sargassum (seaweed) and the ocean was ro [... read more]ugh and appeared "dirty" from the seaweed. The resort cleans it up a few times a day but it doesn't help much due to the massive volume of seaweed. We did not use the beach at all for this reason, but the hotel has great beach chairs and shade. This is clearly not the resort's problem so this won't be reflected in my review. - food was not great and I've been to 12 different caribbean all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, DR, Cuba, Jamaica, Aruba and Nevis. Received raw chicken at one a la carte (like actually raw on the inside), and a blue rare steak at the italian restaurant when I ordered medium. Buffet was not great, and I enjoyed the food much more at a couple of other 4.5 star resorts in Mayan Riviera previously - drinks aren't great...liquor is watered down (we did several taste tests with no mix) and I did not enjoy many of my drinks

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Another great visit

This was our 4th time visiting since it opened. We have much more good than bad. The good/great: the food is plentiful and very good. There is a wide assortment of options, and we didn't need to snack as we ate so well. Upgrading to El Beso is worth it as you can have made to order breakfast at Blue Moon. We enjoyed fresh pastries, eggs Benedict, etc. The drinks are good, bartenders great. Cecilia at the El Beso pool remembered what we drank and always had a smile for us. Being able to see the  [... read more]monkeys almost every day and have them eat out of your hand and let you pet them was great! Note, they only like bananas, so grab from buffet. Herman from the El Beso cafe was awesome! David from the buffett was great! Rooms are clean and spacious. The so/so: for some reason, towels seem to be the hot commodity. We had one of ours stolen from the pool, were standing across the pool at the time. The front desk wanted to charge us $100, sent us on a wild goose chase to another desk, then when asking to speak to the manager, they gave us a card. The next morning, staff took our towels while we went to breakfast. We started leaving hats & books on chairs after that. There was always lots of chairs. We will be back. The Daisy waterpark is amazing for kids and the entertainment for the kids looked great. Our granddaughters would love it.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Very nice resort that has a lot to offer

We enjoyed our stay. However, while some points were very positive, some were negative. The bus ride to the hotel took well over an hour and we stopped at six hotels before we got to our hotel. The road was mostly secondary road punctuated by what felt like four hundred speed bumps. The bus host told us to meet the Sunwing person in the lobby the next morning for our briefing. We showed up at the appointed time, but the Sunwing person told us that she was only booking our tour(s) and answering [... read more] any questions we may have. She also told us where to get our towel card. As a result of not having the benefit of a formal briefing, as is the case in all similar resorts we visited, we had to discover what this resort had to offer on our own and we missed out on some of the amenities for the first few days. We only discovered the existence of the Bowling Center and the Sports Bar after our return home. Our room was freshly renovated but the bathroom had not been renovated at all. The floor and the walls were showing signs of fatigue, and the floor of the bathtub was cracked. This is inconsistent with a four-star hotel. The pools and surrounding areas were clean, spacious and well maintained. The beach was fantastic and well maintained. The vendors were polite, discrete and kept their distances when we were not interested in their merchandise. The security personnel were present on the beach and on the site but were very discreet. The food at the Tortuga and the Villa Marina was impeccable, but the service was slow at times, for no apparent reason. We tried all the restaurants with the exception of the Mexicain restaurent and Route 66. The Mexicain restaurant was closed on our last evening. The food and service were excellent at all the restaurants we tried. Numerous shuttles were traveling on the site but one of our friends who was walking with a cane was refused boarding on several occasions because the shuttle was already on a trip. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the resort to friends and family.

Ocean Coral Spring: Ocean coral springs

I wanted to love this hotel but unfortunatley I had a better time in Cuba then in Jamacia i can only speak on this resort as it seem like a morjority of the staff was cold and rude. swimming area had little to no shade. especially the children area which had no shade at all for a big resort, you would think they would have the amount of chairs and way more shade. some food was a hit and miss. best this about the resort is that they had room service which was really convient as my child got tired [... read more] from the day out in the sun. the beach was beautiful but i wish they allowed us further pass the water line as it was shallow out far. I would give this 4 star resort not a 5 few things they need to make better.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Terrible Hotel

WORST Hotel I have ever experienced. To start upon arrival had to contact maintenance to fix safe that was not working, then I had to argue with them on 3 occasions for a coffee maker, they kept telling me that my room does not have a coffee maker included but on their website indicated it does and they kept leaving me coffee pouch instead after 3 days finally hot one. There were about 1000 guests during our stay but Hotel only had about 50 to 60 umbrellas aroud the pool, would have to wake u [... read more]p at 5 am to reserve 1 and hope that by the time you go to the pool after breakfast no one else took it, and when you inform the hotel they would stand there and say they don't have anymore left. One of the stairs to get out of the pool was broken (missing a screw), I was there for 10 days and let maintenance know about how dangerous it was to have slippery loose stairs, also other guests let them know almost every day but nothing was done, ( easy fix, just drain about 1 foot of water and reistall the missing screw). Infested with mosquitoes, Hotel does not spray. Beach is dirty when you mention it to them nothing is done. Animateurs don't involve themselves with all guests unless you speak their language.

Ocean Maya Royale: Very nice resort!!

This resort is excellent as an adult get away. The grounds and the rooms are very well taken care of. This is the first resort (out of 10 trips up to date), that we don't need reservations at restaurants and are able to have à la carte restaurants every night if we wanted, except for the Japanese one. You can only reserve the same night at 5:30pm for your meal between 6:30 and 10pm (no big thing). The Hacienda (buffet) has a different theme every day, which is also very nice. El Charro re [... read more]staurant on the quiet pool side has excellent burgers, fries and salad at lunch time. The nightly shows are half different from other resorts we have been to. Tourists actually participate in great numbers to pool activities and beach volleyball. It would be nice to have more shade around the regular pool. The beach is cleaned daily when weeds show up. Barman does come on the beach if you want anything.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: The name says it all- Paradise!

Absolutely fantastic location. Couldn't have asked for anything better with this resort. Nice layout of the resort, nice balance of adults, kids and privilege areas. Tons of loungers at all pools (as long as you reserve early). All staff were SUPER nice and happy. Not too far from the airport. Was very happy with the privilege option.
