Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Great resort

Stayed for a week in March. The resort had beautiful grounds with a variety of wildlife roaming around. The food was really good, we preferred the buffets over the a la cartes. The rooms were basic but had nice, updated bathrooms. All the rooms had a terrace or balcony. You actually enter the room through the balcony/terrace door, there is no other door. You have to get up early if you want a chair in the shade, the resort definitely could use more shaded areas (as with most resorts). There are [... read more] however cruise ship people that come on a day pass so you definitely need to find a chair before they come onto the resort otherwise it’s slim pickings. Very friendly staff. Overall a great stay!

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Extraordinary Oasis

This absence of effective leadership occasionally resulted in lapses in coordination and dining room etiquette, which, in turn, impacted the overall dining experience. Stronger and more visible leadership, along with proactive support from supervisors, would greatly enhance the cohesiveness and efficiency of the dining operations. Providing structured guidance to the team would not only improve the level of service but also empower the hardworking staff to showcase their full potential, further elevating the guest experience. The accommodations were excellent, featuring comfortable rooms equipped with all the necessary amenities to ensure a relaxing stay. Room service was attentive and efficient, adding to the overall sense of luxury. Entertainment options were varied and engaging, offering activities for guests of all preferences. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and professional, always ensuring that guests' needs were met with efficiency and care. While the resort's remote location adds a unique charm, it also presented a challenge in the form of limited taxi services. Introducing readily available taxis either at or near the resort would not only enhance convenience for guests but also attract more tourists, making it a valuable addition to the resort’s offerings. A standout feature of the resort was its stunning beach, complete with pristine sand, clear waters, and convenient amenities, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. In summary, the Iberostar Selection Esmeralda offers a beautiful and enjoyable vacation experience with exceptional facilities and friendly staff. With enhanced leadership and coordination in the dining services, as well as improved transportation options, the resort has the potential to reach even greater heights of excellence.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort

I had the pleasure of spending a week of vacation time at this amazing resort. I work in a high stress field and needed a break. Iberostar Laguna Azul was all I could have hoped for and more. The incredible facility and beach combined with an amazing staff made our stay memorable for years to come. Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Beautiful walkable sandy beach!

Arriving at night the trip from the airport was just 20 Km away. Check in was quick and easy. The resort was smaller and more intimate than what we generally go to. We had an ocean view room and was adequate and met all our needs. Room bar fridge and coffee area was always well stocked. With it being a smaller resort there were only 3 a-la-cartes and 1 main buffet, which made it a rather small selection over a period of 10 days. Very nice safe beach to swim at, with a lot of palapas/loungers wit [... read more]h shaded areas. The beach is rather short, should you care walk long distances. Upon check in we were informed of designated smoking areas, unfortunately some guests would smoke anywhere, hence the resort should post no smoking signs around the pool area. Overall the resort personnel were friendly and accommodating. Our concierge Jovayne went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We took an excursion to Dunn River Falls and enjoyed it immensely. The 1 hour bus ride gave us the opportunity to see the country side.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort

Love this resort! We had an amazing week. This is my second time here. Entertainment, people, food was awesome. Beach had lots of chairs and umbrellas. Ocean was beautiful! A le carte Japanese restaurant was delicious we went twice. The International restaurant was delicious too!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Awesome resort

The hotel is excellent. The food and service was top notch in all locations: the main buffet, the "snack bar" and the three a la carte restaurants. We especially acknowledge Luz at the snack bar, Domingo and Ana López at the buffet restaurant and the two omelette chefs, who made you smile as they created delicious made-to-order omelettes. Another server who was personable and made it very pleasant as she served was Grisledy , who often worked serving drinks at the entertaining shows in the eveni [... read more]ng. Liz gave us exceptional service at the front desk, as did several others. One front desk chap, whose name started with A, (Alduvis?) went above and beyond to help us with information for a shopping trip into town. Another standout was our chef at the Japanese restaurant, who kept us in stitches with his entertaining banter, nicknames and lively culinary presentation. We were very pleased with the number of well-stocked bars, pristine and elegant public bathrooms, comfortable lounge seating, tables to play bridge, attractive lobby sumptuous towels for the beach, ample lounge chairs at the beach and pool. Our rooms were cleaned promptly each day by friendly, helpful teams of positive cleaners. Every staff member who helped is was polite and accommodating. We Love the emphasis on reducing waste, the water was safe and the system of environmentally friendly water was very inspiring.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Beautiful beach…but!!

This can be a wonderful place to go to, but we felt that it lacked personnel. The beach was a 5 star!! The rooms are very nice…but the towels need to be replaced, so does the pool chairs and umbrellas. Not enough staff on all levels!!! We have been to other Coral resorts, but would not return to this one.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Absolutely fantastic

My travel agent had been here the month before and her recommendation certainly proved to be right. The resort is amazing and extremely well laid out. I definitely enjoyed my stay and would definitely look forward to returning in the future.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful resort

We were extremely pleased with our holiday at Iberostar Dorado. The facilities were well cared for. The staff pleasant and efficient. The food was tasty plentiful and available. We enjoyed the Beach and the pool and all who provided assistance . Our family found much much pleasure in being together in such a fine establishment. Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: lovely resort

We enjoyed our week at the resort. Some highlights although there were many...the beautiful ocean, sandy bottom, gentle waves, great for being in the sea..(not enough chairs to be had..every day was a struggle that way)...some amazing dining experiences, even the main buffet but i will name Museo, the Japanese Resaurant that you needed reservations for, and the Greek restaurant as being at the top of our list... Easy to walk everywhere...but there were shuttle carts if needed. comfortable room [... read more]s especially bed and up to date bathroom so no problems there..liked the emphasis on the environment and less plastic, really appreciated the concierge communication so easily on the App..helped answer the simplest of questions quickly or got us help quickly for the safe, towels, etc...Any questions or needs were answered immediately..pretty impressive. Staff as always were wonderful. We had out last buffet lunch on the day we were leaving which was the last meal we had that day..and suddenly on the plane ride home to Toronto several hours later, i became very sick on the plane..thank heaven for those little white bags in the seat storage..i was very sick for a few days, also in the airport..not nice when there is a lineup in the washroom. I expect something i ate at lunch..small bit of an egg dish..not hot, not cold..everything else was what i had enjoyed every day and had been fine. But inspite of that, i really enjoyed the resort and i would go back.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Meh

We booked this trip based on the reviews and partly because of the potential honeymoon upgrade. Unfortunately, there was no upgrade or discussion of such but did request to see our marriage certificate and said they would send a "special surprise." Instead of a room upgrade, they sent sparkling wine to our room. It was a beautiful beach but the resort itself doesn't look like it's 5 years new. We had mold spores in our bathroom, everything in our room was damp from the toilet paper to the pillow [... read more]s and bedding. I would not recommend this resort to others. Guests are only given 500 mLs of water per day, understanding there are shortages but this became increasingly difficult during our stay. The flight landed around 6:15, we didn't get to our hotel until 8:30. When we arrived, there were dance performances right in the lobby where we needed to walk through to get checked in. This was very cumbersome and not helpful to entering guests just trying to get to their rooms after a long day of travel. I think five stars for this resort is incredibly generous, I wouldn't say it's more than three stars at maximum. We had great in flight experiences with airtransat and would definitely fly with them in future.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Honest Review

Check in was very quick and the reception desk staff very nice. We stayed in a beautiful room on the third floor overlooking the beach. The room was kept very clean and the beds very comfortable. The grounds are large but walkable. They have carts that will drive you around. The resort didn’t appear to be full, however the pool was packed every day and didn’t seem big enough for the amount of people that were there. We always managed to get chairs at both beaches. We were disappointed that  [... read more]we couldn’t take out kayaks or go on catamaran rides. We were told that their rescue boat was broken so it wasn’t safe to go out. The drinks were pretty bad, so best to stick to wine or beer. The food was as expected. Omelettes or eggs for breakfast which were very good and Canadian bacon was good and very popular. There was only white loaf bread for toast. No selection of breads and rolls like at Iberostar Selection Varadero. Cinnamon loaf and homemade donuts were very good. Fruit was mostly Papaya, Gauva and Bananas. Lunch and dinner buffet was limited and repetitive, but it was well cooked and the buffet staff were all fantastic. Best dessert was the ice cream. Public bathrooms didn’t seem to be cleaned too often and a child was sick in the lobby one evening and it was over 20 minutes before it was cleaned up. I wasn’t very impressed on our first night sitting in the lobby and having a roving band come by our table. They played a song and immediately asked for “tips for beautiful music”. I think a better approach would be to have them playing in a specific area in the lobby, with a tip jar nearby. They were doing work at the resort while we were there. Re-tiling fountains and work on the waterpark. This resort is really lovely with a lot of potential but I don’t see returning to it in the near future.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great Resort

This was our 3rd time here. It's a beautiful resort. The grounds are so well maintained. The orchid garden is my favorite !. The staff are the most friendly people very. Not once did we encounter any issues. We did have a delay when we arrived as our room wasn't ready. This was a bit frustrating as we were tired from our early morning flight. We had requested a ground or 1st floor with a King bed. Ended up on top floor (2nd) as other request not available. Buildings are 3 floors .. [... read more] ground, 1st and 2nd floors. Good thing we could still do stairs as we are seniors...lol. Wasn't too sure about some of the food at first, but didn't take long what not to have. I did find some of them meats where overcooked, especially the chicken at the buffet... very dry.. But, always had a great selection, and enjoyed it . Didn't care for the Italian A La Carte. Selected the lasagna, didn't care for it at all. The lasagna at the buffet was much better. Saw a lot of negative comments on a FB group that the pool wasn't clean, we never had a issue with it. Of course you'll have leaves or bugs from time to time, that's normal. The beach was also very well maintained. .. windy, but lovely. Was surprised that they didn't have bar service by the pool.(staff member taking orders) or at the beach. But, access to a bar was never far away. Found out you had to "reserve" your chairs early by the pool if you wanted a good spot that provided shade later in day, Only 1 day when we did the half day City tour we couldn't get chairs at the pool or beach.. very disappointing.. Later found out about the Cruise ships that have excursions to come to the resort for 5 hours. They took any remaining available chairs. Sure enough I noticed at 11am a stream of people coming in with blue towels, different to the ones provide to us staying at the resort. Our room was very clean, no complaints there. Funny thing, the table and 2 Charis in our room had been removed, but not a big deal. Know this from several other times we've stayed at resorts with same room selection. Bar fridge always stocked. (Beer and pop).. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion provided.. Ok, but next time I think I'd take my own shampoo. Had to request face cloths, not left as normal with other towels, only did the once, and they where always then provided. A virus was still going around the resort. So many people had it. Thank goodness only lasted 24 hours. My husband got but I didn't. Remember to take Pepto Bismol with you, and wash your hands and use the hand sanitizer provided at the buffet, and A La Cart locations. Had a lot fun playing some of the games .. darts, ring toss, golf, corn hole toss. Meet a lot of really nice people. Never any issues with people getting out of hand from drinking too much, at least not that we ever saw. Since this was our 3rd visit to this resort, (have also been to Punta Cana and La Romana) we didn't really need to do a lot of the excursions. Our concierge (Taveras) was most helpful. He arranged for a taxi to take us to some spots we had not seen before. Umbrella and Pink Streets .. ok alleys... a must see ! Also went to City Square, the Cathedral and a great Cigar Store Vivonte near the square. Then to Jumbo to buy Brugal Rum, Santa Domingo coffee and vanilla. Another great trip with more memories. If you haven't been to Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada, it's worth trying !!

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Trip to Holguín

I’ve been to Cuba several times. This visit was a sad one. The hotel facilities and grounds are clean and the staff, especially the buffet staff, are very nice. The little beach is good for young children. But a walk or ride to the other side of the bay is needed to enjoy the real beach. No water sports available because they lack a rescue boat. So you cannot use their kayaks, pedalos etc. the water park was closed as it was broken. Of course we never go to Cuba for the food but thi [... read more]s time there was very little and what was available was repeated daily. The bar drinks were extremely limited and what they made was hardly drinkable. There is no entertainment to speak of. In the past we found Cuban resorts put on very nice shows. No games room. Two pool tables with one pool cue, for example. As much as I wish to support the people of Cuba I will find another way to do so through charitable organizations instead. We paid over $1700 per person which is no longer reasonable. I know the cost will be much higher to go anywhere else, but it’s about the value for your dollar.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: amazing beaches

Hotel was very good Nice clean room. Just ask for more towels or pillows they are very accommodating. Room close to everything Beaches were so amazing and free water catamaran,paddle boats, canoe. Food could be a little better as varieties were limited but had fresh fish everyday for fish lovers. Would go back for the price

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Beautiful resort

We stayed at the Quetzal for 10 days in early March. We were very pleasantly surprised at the beautiful grounds. It is literally a jungle with numerous waterfalls, an abundance of vegetation as well as different animals. The reception was very quick and we were given a nice room in an excellent location; building 26. The buildings and the grounds were kept in exceptional condition...very clean and well maintained. The resort is a nice size, not too big so easy to get from one end to the other. The pools are beautiful and kept very clean; lots of loungers and palapas. The main pool is very close to the beach so it's nice to be able to see the ocean. The beach is huge...very wide with beautifl white sand and again lots of loungers and palapas. The water here is tourquoise blue and very clear. The food was excellent, very tasty with lots of variety. It was very convenient to have the option of a full lunch or quick burger/hot dog in the restaurant by the beach. We enjoyed participating in the aqua fit in the morning and the entertainment every night. All in all, this is a very nice, clean and well maintained resort and we would highly recommend it.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Paradise

Quiet, small resort, very clean, long gorgeous beach, you can walk for miles, no loud music on the beach ( the way we like). The stuff are very friendly, welcoming,always with the smile ( thank you “Capitano” and your team) helpful management, available all the time. The food; the best I had in Cuba and more; all kind of cheese, meat, very good Spanish wine, you can eat at the special restaurants or in the dining room ( if you don’t like what is ready make you can as chef to prepare fresh fish,  [... read more]chicken, pork, sometimes beef or seafood. JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Extraordinarily lovely resort!

The Joia Paraiso by Iberostar is an amazing adult only resort. The hotel decor is lavish and ornate. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and impeccably maintained. We went for a lovely walk every day .We spent most days by the quiet pool where all loungers/ beds are available in curtailned cabanas. The service here is extraordinary. Your every need is catered to. The food was great. My husband managed to find beef tenderloin to his delight even at the buffer. Food display was lovely especia [... read more]lly the desserts! For a special treat take in the Spa pool complete with juice bar, warm whirlpools and massaging shower heads. The beach is beautiful..all deep sand..not rocky..very little seaweed.Overall a great experience!
