Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Had its goods and bads

This resort has seen its better days. Very dark halls and stairways. They seemed to stretch out light bulbs as they burn out, bring a flashlight and bug spay. Food was decent. The beach was great with interesting rocks at each end to seclude it from the other resorts in that area.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: no hot water resort

everything was fine ,but we left because no hot water for four days,the room was good .the service was good,the swimming pool was great,night entertainment was very good,the hotel was very clean everywhere.

Allegro Playacar: good resort

The grounds are great the staff are very friendly, I really enjoyed my stay there and I do plan on going back again. Only had one issue with the wifi at the resort other then that had a fantastic time.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Average

This resort is exactly a 3 star vacation. No more, no less. Our rooms were cute, cozy, and nicely air conditioned (although throughout the night it made sharp noises that woke us up). They really do try to make the best with what they have, and this is especially so with the food. The food was pretty bland but this is common across many resorts in Cuba. I really wished that I brought peanut butter and jam as they had DELICIOUS bread but nothing but tasteless butter to put on it. The beach was  [... read more]EXTREMELY SHALLOW. No matter how far we ventured off in the water it was always knee high deep. There was a lot of kelp in the water but I had water shoes (which I would highly suggest). We ended up walking to the resort next door (Iberostar which is a 4 star resort) and swam in their beach which was absolutely beautiful, clean, deep, and no kelp. Service was great and the people working at the resort were resourceful and kind. Overall this is a 3 star resort. Do not have expectations going in, have an open mind.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: OK

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) Hotel was getting worn down. Grounds were attractive but the beaches were outstandingly beautiful. Rooms on a scale of 1-10 was at best a 4. Dining was nice, but became old hat after 3 days. Entertainment was alright. Housekeeping, Dining room staff could not do enough for you.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Amazing beach of course

The rooms were standard and very clean.The food at the beach area was very good Roast pig for 3 different times Burgers and the fish were great andbartenders couldn't do enough for us.Entertainment was ok but the swim up pool bar as advertised was not open The pool was but it was all for the little ones so no bartenders there but we just choose to stay at the beach side bar wjich was exceptable.I might go back but we like to try different resorts But I would recommend this hotel

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: A Fabulous Hotel

This hotel was well beyond my expectations, the staff was excellent ,the food at the buffet and a la carte was very good. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff goes out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay.

Occidental Punta Cana: Nice resort

I went to Punta Cana to celebrate my birthday. The resort was nice food was good, the only problem was my room. Not cleaned properly at all when I checked. Ceiling in bathroom was leaking. Balcony door was really hard to open and the maid stole my blouse from my suitcase. I voiced my opinion politely but nobody cares. I never saw my maid at all to ask her about my blouse, I guess she was hiding. I will never go back to an Occidental resort again. Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Very Nice Hotel

The beach at the Allegro was excellent! The staff at the hotel were very friendly. We had only one problem with our room when we checked in but our Nuitours Rep was quick at fixing the problem. Overall our family had a great vacation there.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Awesome resort

The food was okay. the rooms were clean and well stocked. The grounds were lush and green. The pool was a fun time for the youth. The beach was nice, the water calm. The nightly entertainment was fun. Overall a fun-filled resort.

Occidental Punta Cana: Relaxing day at the beach

We really liked this hotel. We were there just to relax at the beach and didn't take in any nightlife.the only downside was that there was a youth travel group there at the same time,second week of March,and they were everywhere day and night. We stayed at the beach and were not bothered but opted to head to our room after a late dinner to relax . Loved the room, top floor has very high ceilings!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Really awesome time

Was very nice and clean, there was something for everyone to do or just do nothing. More then one pool to sit by and lots of room at both ...........................................................................................

Occidental Punta Cana: Good resort

Very nice resort, buffet had a lot of variety. Rooms were nice. My only complain is the AC didn't work in our room, hotel was quick to accommodate and gave us another room but unfortunately it didn't work in the second room either. In the end we were upgraded to ocean view room and it was beautiful with a working AC. This is nice resort it has it's issues but the staff is super accommodating. Sirenis Tropical Varadero: NO THANK YOU

This was our third trip to Cuba, the first two experiences were great but for a Resort residing amongst a strip of many in Varadero this resort is perhaps at the bottom of the group. On the positive side: the grounds as well as the beach were absolutely beautiful and as an added bonus the hotel is very close to the beach. The pool was large and clean. They also offer some pretty good shows in the concert hall - the one we saw was "Michael Jackson' - which was top notch and well done. The above [... read more] paragraph ends the positive points and as much as I do not like to depreciate a business...all who would choose to follow in my experience should be fairly warned. So here is a recap: Upon arrival from the airport my wife and I waited a very long time at check-in approximately over 1 hour. There was one clerk who had to handle many new arrivals - The room was big, very dated, almost no furniture. We could not find a remote for the TV and we were told no on has remotes in this certain block of rooms. So we said ok we can live without it, then we found out the coaxial cable was ripped from the back of the TV - destroyed. After complaining we did receive a working cable. There was no hot water at all but supposedly we were lucky to have water at all, I was able to have 2 showers in 7 days...got lucky a couple of times The whole resort is run down, as you walk through the hallways you feel like you are in a Cuban jail- broken tiles, mouldy walls, mosquitoes and some weird looking flies all over the place and full of feral cats with kittens. the maid service is none to zero - you are lucky to get fresh towels. There was one woman at the front checking people in as well as out, dealing with complaints, answering the phone which never stopped ringing and supplying bottles of waters...just funny. The buffet was dirty, it had a constant foul smell in it and full of flies...you figure out the rest...there is a reason flies congregate in large numbers in one area. We saw a cockroach climbing the window at our table. There was one particular lady cutting the fruits and serving juice for breakfast was miserable almost as if she wanted to end it all. I saw her sneeze one morning in close proximity to the food wiped her nose with her hand then continued. Maybe this is why my wife and I both experienced fever, chills and extreme night sweats for a couple of days. If you like plain shredded cabbage with beans or with peas or if you prefer 2 day old sausages in many different forms you will be happy. Or if you eat mashed potatoes for breakfast then again later in the form of a soup that will hit the spot. There was one day they had no eggs nor do they ever serve bacon. You will have a choice of 3 types of fruit day after day; papaya, pineapple and guava. They were very creative with the desserts you can find something which looks like toast with grenadine put all over...no thanks. There was no seafood at all except for the odd day of fried sea fish but they did have nice bread as well as croissants. After 2 days you really begin to appreciate your breakfast or any meal at home. Some people were going to eat in Veradero but that does no come cheap. How does 30$ sound for half a lobster, cup of rice, shredded cabbage and a beer sound to you. Another very important note concerns the beach grill area where they serve hamburgers so if you do go there check to see if your burger is completely cooked, I ordered a few and everyone was pink inside. If you like to drink make sure you are drunk for a week this way you won't notice or care about any of this. Another think I think is a rip off is the 5 peso bus ride for a day which takes you from hotel to hotel there and back, you can go to the city centre which is exactly like something you would see downtown Niagara Falls and don't be disappointed if the driver stops the bus for his lunch... at first I thought he was unionized but that was interesting for sure when he kicks you out to wait for another bus. People please don't put great value for the place, it is a run down and ignored hotel basically serving people who are there for the first time. The Canjet experience was great, plane was on time, good service, ok food, pleasant service..good job Canjet. After a week of misery we go the airport then more b.s starts....4 long line ups...we are not kidding, first you line up for 30 to 45 mins to check your luggage, then you line up again to pay the departure tax, then you line up for immigration after this you line up for the security check all in all that took about 2 hours. I wish they would just include the departure tax in the tickets. Then you have to pay 1$(peso) for a clear duty free bag with your purchase I don't think they do that anywhere in the world. Just a weird annotation: I needed to use the bathroom (men) and as I was in there at the urinal a maid (cleaner) walked in to do her job - she said its ok don't worry don't worry - so I did my thing as well as changed into jeans with her watching me. As I tried to leave she blocked the door begging for a tip but I had already tipped her with a strip tease and some swinging action. I have never in my life come across this sort of behavior in a any public bathroom. We think it is time to start going to some other countries. Cuban resorts are beginning to give less and less service, they don't seem like they care anymore because they think people will always come so who cares anymore. Occidental Cozumel: Beautiful resort

Had a great time. Beautiful resort and wildlife. Food delicious and staff very friendly, only things that can be improved but not a big problem was the line at the pool bar. And the time it takes to get your room cleaned.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Nice resort but huge!

Beautiful and well kept resort. Lots of lush landscape and clean beach. Pools are kept very clean. Food is very good, especially the beach restaurant and the drinks are top shelf. On the downside, the resort is large and its very easy to get lost on the paths and the bridges. Very little nightlife here but you are a close cab ride to Playa Del Carmen which has tons of clubs.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Exactly what I was looking for

Loved everything about this resort...loved the entertainment in main lobby every night...loved the parrots...loved the location(5minuets to playa del Carmen) .....loved the cabanas....loved the adult pool area.... Even the food was great!!! Will definetly recommend and go back!!!

Occidental Punta Cana: Spotless Resort

Beautiful beaches, Friendly staff, very clean resort. Some of the rooms were a little dated but still spotless. Food choices were good. Lots of activities for all ages. Night time entertainment was always enjoyable.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Needs work!

Boiler system for hot water needs replacing. Water pressure low at times as well as no hot water. Leak in main dining room roof. Toilet paper for table napkins. Hardly ever any toilet paper in public bathrooms. Bathroom near villa area had no lighting. Poor lighting along walkways i the evening. Great points: the beach and the staff!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing Place

This was our second visit we love it..the rooms were clean always stocked the mini bar..food is excellent..staff is friendly...excursions were truly a wonderful experience. ..we are coming back soon to this wonderful resort
