Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Lovely, simple, super-clean and gracious resort!

We were just there...March 17-24. The staff are very gracious. Shout-out to Alejandro (porter) and Able (VKitchen busman) and Eduardo (Beach bartender) for taking such good care of us! The resort only has about 400 people at a time...6 wings of 3 floors...10 rooms per floor. Rooms are huge. We overlooked the front entrance but were not disturbed by the comings and goings. Super safe "compound" of 9 resorts to explore. Gina told us to "not hesitate" in booking the V Wyndham Heavens, so we didn't, and we'd go back without hesitation!

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: A Beautiful Resort!

This was our second trip to Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach. The property is well designed with a lot of sandy beach front covered with palm trees with lots of lounge chairs. Beautiful sunsets can be photographed from the beach. The beach is private and can only be used by Viva residents; there are no venders bothering you! : ) Our 'superior room' accommodations were fine; clean and spacious. English is not their first language; it is probably their third behind Spanish and French. The food is fine, but we found they used a lot of salt and although baked desserts look great, they were often tasteless. If you don't want to eat at a buffet for every meal, they do have options. In the evening you can try to book at an A La Carte restaurant, I think you are allowed two during a week stay, although we had difficulty booking for eight people and the only time slots we could get were early (6:15pm and 6:45pm).

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Week in Paradise!

Perfect location & size for our vacation. Staff was efficient & friendly. Good food. Great, clean room with balcony overlooking a beautiful golf course. Beach clean & perfect for long walks. Close to airport - transfers were great. Entertainment staff very hardworking, friendly, talented young people. Good bartenders & wait staff. Great city tour & gondola ride to top of mountain. Breathtaking views. Lovely to see & learn about Puerto Plata. More wait staff around pool, beach for drink orders . Otherwise loved it - great time. Definitely would recommend this resort!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Resort!

This is a small compact resort, which was perfect for us as my husband is waiting for a knee replacement. We spent our days on the beach, which was a short walk along side a pond where we saw turtles and birds. Most days we walked back to the main buffet for lunch where the selection of food was larger than the beach buffet. The food was very good. There was always something a little different each day. Both times we arrived around 730 and were seated right away. Our room was located in building 3 on the second floor. Our balcony looked out towards the spa. The room was spacious, very clean and well maintained. Water pressure was good and we always has hot water. We like to have coffee around 6am. The main lobby was a few steps away and had coffee available from 5 to 7am. We also had a coffee machine in the room. The public washrooms were emaculate... There was also an accessible area at the beach and an elevator to the theatre. The ladies on the beach selling massages and pedicures were ,I felt, very aggressive. They really didn't like to take no for an answer and would start massaging your feet in hopes that you would comply. I went down the beach to the small market and had a massage for 40$ US. The ladies on the beach were charging the same and doing it at your lounge chair. The men selling trinkets were much more respectful. We didn't stay up late enough for any of the entertainment in the theatre, although we could hear it going on from our room. It wasn't loud enough to interrupt our sleep. Overall a great experience. We would definately return. I booked our trip through Susan Williams at Trip Central. She provides excellent customer service. In fact, while we were at V Heavens I reached out to her and she looked after booking an April mother/daughter trip for me.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Quant resort with great staff

Resort staff were awesome. Kept us entertained for a week. Food was a good variety at the buffet. Would not recommend the international food al lacarte. Beach was nice. Lots of beach chairs for everyone. Rooms need a small update but cleaned everyday Small resort but a great time overall

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: If you can do without....

I title this review, if you can do without, because the resort overall is nice but lacks. If you're ok with... -only one bartender at either bar at anytime. 10 min+ wait almost always -no fresh OJ or something more than just orange water -only papaya, melon, watermelon, passion fruit, pineapple, brown bananas, mango only at dinner and only in buffet. -Pina colada, Bahama mama some slushy type concoction, neither tasted like they should. -no Kleenex in rooms -4 a la carte restaurants b [... read more]ut not open every night. Why? No one knows. -pool loungers never available, people place towels and go on an excursion I guess because all we saw were blue towels tanning. -shows were very amateur, very poor quality, except for twin dancers -shows or for that matter any entertainment never started on time -night time shows 10pm approx. And after 10 minutes of Viva hotel commercials followed by a 4 minute Viva song(song should be cut down to 1 minute and I don't need to see ads for other locations every time!) -beach was nice expect for pesty sales, of everything from braids to sunglasses non stop all day long. NOT appreciated and felt less secure. -asked multiple times for extra shampoos conditioners and towels. Only once were they brought. -reservations not allowed at restaurants, so once all seats are full you must wait or goto buffet. -wait staff at all restaurants were very blah unless you tipped.(tipping is included in package so now staff expect $$ for doing there job. -internet wifi horrible. Why bother offering wifi if slower than dial up or sporadic. -shows and disco are in the centre of resort circled by most rooms. Noise was obtrusive every night. -buffet both at beach and main were repetitive and boring. - time share sales also were relentless. Not acceptable -hotel was clean and maintained but that's not enough. Overall the week was fine but wouldn't do another Viva resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Need improvement

The resort was nice but definitely not a 4.5 star. They could really up their game if they just improved on some areas. The thing that stood out the most for us was the wine. The red wine was absolutely vile and the white merely tolerable. My husband thought it tasted like it had bleach in it! We ended up having to buy wine off their wine list which only had a few of the wines actually available so even then we weren't getting our first, second or even third choice. For an all inclusive re [... read more]sort we certainly spent a lot of money on wine and tips! If you wanted any type of decent service you had to tip. This became incredibly frustrating with the cleaning staff. We made it very clear on our first day how we wanted our mini fridge stocked and tipped well to emphasize the point but every day it was a different cleaner and it was never stocked the way we had wanted. You would not believe how difficult it was to get a cold Diet Coke at this resort! Meals for the most part at the a la carte restaurants were good but not all the restaurants were open every night and twice we had to wait over an hour for a table at the Italian restaurant. Breakfast and lunch were buffet and decent but always the same. There was no kleenex in the rooms and there were only 2 towels, which felt like sandpaper. You could not get a lounge chair in the pool area because they were all taken by peoples' towels! The beach was nice but not enough shady spots and all the good ones were taken by peoples' towels! What little of the entertainment we saw was very amateurish. We couldn't figure out how we were meant to know what the entertainment was for the evening or which restaurants were open so we were often disappointed that we didn't get out first choice of restaurant and we missed a lot of shows.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Fabulous Party

Friendly, amazingly clean (including beach bathrooms), fabulous food, never had to wait, impressive 24 hour service, many activities around the pool. - Lots of fun to be had - Quieter near the beach, except for people selling things, beach could use more shade. Water was perfect, many people swan, water sports were few, sand is very soft, seaweed was taken away daily, Room was well appointed comfortable bed. Not the best place for quiet relaxing but great for fun.

Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Wonderful vacation at wonderful resort

The resort was beautiful. It was always kept very very clean, the food was amazing. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. The grounds and pools were fabulous. All in all, it was truly an enjoyable vacation.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: AMAZING RESORT❣❣

This resort was much more than I expected! Right from the moment we walked into the lobby to our departure we were made to feel like family. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The cleanliness of the rooms right through to the public washrooms excellent. The food was simply amazing. Always something going on to keep you entertained or you could just relax. Music at night around the pool was geared for more of the younger crowd at times too loud. They did though play a blend and 70 and 80's a  [... read more]couple of nights. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: What a great place!!!!

This resort was definitely a good choice. The food at the restaurants was amazing, the best at any of the resorts we have been too. We were a party of 14 and they had no problems accommodating us. Grounds were tidy and well cared for. Rooms were huge. For sure we will be going back.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Super belles vacances reposantes!

Villégiature moderne et bien tenue. Super belle plage! De belles vagues, long à marcher des deux côtés (environ 4km ou plus d’un côté puis minimum 3km de l’autre). Villégiature où on se repose, vraiment (lecture, exercices, beauté de la végétation,...). Super bon service partout, bel atmosphère, détente assurée. Fortement recommandée.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Where is the "wow"?

I've done some extensive travelling, and I consider myself to be a very easy-going, take-the-good-with-the-bad kind of person. This resort is the first time I've ever been unimpressed. First off, the positives - the grounds (especially the pool area) are gorgeous and very clean. The beach is stunning (although sand fleas are common). And for me...that's about it. Upon entering our room, my first impression was...blah. It's clean, which is great, and had a lovely view of the pool, but honestly, [... read more] it was a very boring design. Just...blah. White walls, no paintings, wooden furniture, and that was about it. The food is horrendous. There are 3 restaurants on site, in addition to the buffet, and we tried 2 of them as I'm not a seafood lover. We left one of the restaurants after waiting an hour for watery, overcooked and unflavourful pasta, and just went to the buffet. The fusion restaurant is decent, but not good. The filet on the menu was possibly the most vile thing I've tried to eat. It seemed more like a super fatty and tough burger patty - I could barely cut it; the table next to us was shocked as well. The people seemed generally unhappy to be there. The beach bartenders were fantastic, and had great personalities, but most of the buffet staff were uninterested in helping. As an example, my friend ordered a cappuccino, to which the server replied, "Really? Are you sure you don't want a regular coffee?" We did always tip, but by the end of the week we were tipping specific servers rather than leaving the bills on our table. And finally...our excursion. We booked a private excursion with Joana (spelling?). The night before, we came to cancel since I was feeling quite ill - with the intention of re-booking (remember, it was a private excursion, so no other guests would be put out). Nobody was at the desk. My friend went down to cancel the next morning, but again, nobody was at the desk. Around noon, we approached Joana to both apologize and re-book, but were met with extreme condescension and rudeness - shaking her head at us, telling us how rude we were for making the taxi wait, etc. I felt like we were being treated like children. She did not offer any condolences ("how are you feeling?" etc) or the opportunity to re-book. So, we didn't go on an excursion at all. Such a disappointment. So, do I recommend this hotel? A resounding NO. Never. Go somewhere else. I just feel like...just be kind to people, you know? Be kind. This hotel...not kind. Avoid.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: The best hotel we have stayed at !

Exceptionally well managed;very clean;staff very friendly.Three a-la-carte restaurants-not needed,because the food in the open dining area is exceptional.Gained three pounds in one week!The beach is beautiful,but not good for swimming.Waves are big and there is an undertow,Pool is nice,but chairs are all claimed very early in the day.All the tours are horribly over priced.There is a clear need for reasonably priced short trips.Castilles Mundo is a must see-but 50 US was far too much!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: You want to go here!

The Viva V Heavens was the most amazing 7 days my husband and I have ever had at an all inclusive! We only ever book adults only resorts and this one is our new favorite! The resort itself is the most beautiful boutique style resort I've been to, it was extremely clean. The grounds surrounding the resort had to be one of my favorite features as you truely felt like you were in the jungle. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great staff!

A great week under the sun! Recomended by a cousin who had been there last year. Rooms are large and well maintained! Food is varied and tasty! As for the restaurants reservations are not necessary. Entertainment every night appreciated..loved the magic show! Pool and beach very clean..food and drinks closeby. Quiet area within easydistance of city centre by taxi or local bus

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Nice Resort and Beautiful grounds!

This was our first time at this resort. The staff was very welcoming when we arrived. If you are looking for a nice small compact resort then this is the resort for you. We were on the third floor of a nicely situated bungalow. Our room was nice but there was nothing special about it. It was sparsely furnished but clean. We didn't have a fridge which was a downer. The power went out the first night we were there and continued to go off and on through the night and through our week stay.  [... read more]When the power went out the water in our room stopped working and didn't come back on for a while after. On our last morning when we were getting ready to leave and the power went off while I was in the shower which meant that I had to walk around with shampoo in my hair for about 20 minutes till the water came back on. I called the front desk and they said there was nothing they could do about it. The grounds are beautiful, well kept and clean. The public areas were clean and the staff was very friendly. The staff was also very friendly with my children which made a very welcoming feeling. There is only 1 pool but it is fairly large. The wind was terrible during our visit so it seemed the pool always had sand in it through no fault of the staff. The resort is right on the beach and the beach is very nicely kept. Clean and lots of lounging chairs. The entertainment staff is wonderful and there is always something going on whether its games for the kids, zumba or water sports in the pool. The nightlife is good also. Not wild but adequate. The food was ok as far as Dominican food goes. There was lots of variety and I never had a hard time finding something my fussy children would eat. The a la carte places were very nice also. Overall the resort was clean, pretty and not to loud. All the people were friendly and our stay was a positive one for us and our children.

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: really enjoyed this resort

Staff could not have been more attentive, rooms dated but clean, beautiful beach and were still able to swim in ocean regardless of the seaweed (which s harmless and doesn't smell bad either). We enjoyed the food very much and no long lineups at the buffet or the bars. Great place and service - we will definitely be going back next year!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice Resort but too small

The resort is very nice and clean but just too small for my liking. Not enough to see on the resort itself. And although they claim to have free Wifi throughout the resort, the chance of it working was only 50/50.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good value for the money spent

Very clean although not fancy. Bartender and restaurant at the beach were very good. The walk to the beach was not too far. Chairs here were plentiful as well. Entertainment staff were very nice and friendly.
