Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great Staff Great Hotel

ExaWe stayed at the Colonial from May 5th to the 12th. We enjoyed everything about the place! It was low season and a lot of things were shut down, but that suited us just fine as we are not fans of big crowds and line ups. The staff at this resort were the best we have ever come across. Everyone was kind, helpful, funny and friendly! (Not just a few but everyone). The piano bar was a great place to relax with a great bartender. We spent most of our time at the beach and ate lunch at the beach bar every day. Great fish and chips! The Beach Bar staff were great especially the always smiling, ever patient Laudia! The Gentleman who looked after the beach was very friendly and helpful. The saltwater pool (and bar ) were clean and relaxing. We defiantly would return to this resort! Two thumbs up!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great Resort

Very friendly staff, not overly crowded, always helpful, reasonable pricing! An amazing relaxing getaway! Just a tip.. If you like Ketchup or pepper bring your own. The maid wrote me a note everyday as I left gifts for her. Made me feel really good to see how appreciative they are.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: The beach is the best part

Gorgeous beach and water made me want to cry on first look it's so beautiful. Resort is quite nice in general, but certain staff members can be a bit off-putting, others are very nice. Food was really dull, for example, the meats always had tendons and chewy fatty bits, and the chicken sometimes was sketchy tasting. Bar tending staff at the pool was fair, serving people in order. Also took a bus ride to another beach, also wouldn't recommend as it ate 4 hours just being on a bus ride in the heat, not worth it. I probably wouldn't go here again because of the food, I'll look for something in Jamaica as people tell me the food there is excellent, although the cost is higher, i think it would be worth it. Also, my room was ok, but the toilet seat was broken, and the toilet roll was so close to the seat that it made it hard to sit down.

Blau Varadero: AMAZING RESORT

Blau Varadero Resort is the best in Cuba for the value we paid. Everything and eveyone were just perfect. Food was all you can ask for, we loved the breakfast and the evening buffet. The lunch buffet was also super. All kinds of fresh fish and other varieties, veggies and fruits, all A1 quality and presentation. The dessert buffet was huge selection, have never seen in any other resort. The beach was amazing as usual. Bars were all great. We recommend this resort to all, we found our resort where we want to go next time when we go to Varadero.

Blau Varadero: Blau is Best!

Stunning landscaping, beautiful flora. Pristine beach. The staff are genuinely happy to help you, very accomodating. Waaay better then mexico. The concierge has lots of great options for activities. Food was great despite what people said about Cuba. I will definetly return.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Better than expected

Really enjoyed the layout, great view of the pool and the beach was a hop, skip and a jump away. The staff were also great. Have the pool open at night time and more live entertainment in the bar area.

Blau Varadero: Awesome resort

Hotel and staff were amazing everyone was friendly, food was really good, the pool was really nice had a lot of fun at the bars in the hotel as well. Will definitely be going back again in the near future

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great Resort

I found that the food was better than I expected, and the beaches were beautiful. Our maids were respectful, and the service was great. The one thing I disliked was the sewage system that you could smell on the walk back to the rooms. It was not pleasant to smell unwanted fumes every night back to the rooms, especially after a big meal. Overall I rate 4/5 stars, and I would go back again, but with nose plugs this time!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: AWESOME resort :)

We stayed at the Blau Costa Verde Plus from April 29-May 6, 2916. Loved, loved this resort, definitely will be going back! First time my husband and I travelled by ourselves, we loved the fact that the airport in Holguin (Frank Paris International) was small and we were not intimidated in the least. We flew with Air Transat and everything went smoothly (1 hour delay returning back to NS) but we had the VIP Lounge to relax in. Loved the bottled water at the beach (so nice and cold). Loved my omelet and bacon every morning as did my husband. Wish you had a larger variety of fruits, but we managed on watermelon and pineapple. We had 5 a-la-cartes and they were all AMAZING (really enjoyed the Lobster, but our French was the BEST! BEACH is wonderful (don't forget your beach shoes) a small amount of coral to walk through before you can enjoy, but you get to see a lot of fish as you are walking out, I really enjoyed this. We only did one show and this was the five gentlemen that made wonderful music with no instruments, they were beyond amazing. Grounds are okay, but does look like they are adding more to this to beautify, all takes time I guess. All public areas were super clean. Loved the cats and kittens, and was okay with the land crabs (once I got used to them), they are enormous, but each so different and beautiful. Pleased with our room everything worked and had no problems, took us two nights to get used to the beds but we always have an adjustment like that when we travel. Loved our VIP Pool, wasn't crowded and had no problem getting a place to sit and use the pool. Loved the Beach restaurant (our favourite was the french fries and hamburgers, it was the BOMB). ALSO loved the VIP Lounge for drinks, so comfortable and relaxing to go in and have drinks before and after dinner. No line ups for drinks at the beach or pool. Always so gracious when you tip them :). Big thank you all around from all the staff. Always someone on the beach and when I put my hand up to show two chairs they were right there to set up your chair and always cleaned it off. I know this is long and winded, but this resort is marvellous and definitely will be returning. ALSO loved all the security as this was a public beach and we had no problems at all we felt very safe. One other thing maybe when people are checking in there should be better organization as when we arrived people were checking out as well and we were in the incorrect line up :(

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Hotel with a charm of its own.

The hotel is getting old...needs some repairs but they are constantly working to repair around the resort....it is so charming...like a little Cuban/Spanish village with cobblestone walkways, arched doors and windows, amazing vegetation, nice beach with sandy bottom beach, rooms were kept clean, service was very speedy...loved it all except the food ...there wasn't much to choose from..very limited but half the resort was closed due to low season.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Best $ price turned into AMAZING RESORT 41/2

Wow ! Not sure where to start as this resort has everything. When we first arrived our thoughts were this resort is so large . But after the first day we go to know the layout and everything was close together . Check in was very smooth and staff very friendly . The lobby offered a bank , internet (Wi-Fi) lots of seating ,bar (very good drinks) , a store and inside stage . With the Plus section you have th [... read more]e use of a large pool section, a plus lounge and beautiful rooms away from the main buildings. The rooms are very large . The beds are so comfortable and lots of pillows. Well cleaned and fridge stocked daily. We asked for 2 bottles of water and never an issue when asking for anything. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. They have their own little garden on the resort where they grow mint and transplants / shrubs for the resorts use. The resort beach was beautiful lots of shelters , no problems getting a lounger and lots of trees on the beach for shelter too. The trees added beauty to the beach as well. The beach is located in a bay. BUT the only problem with the beach is the bottom has a lot of ref rock. They have sections cleared but I would take water shoes and that would fix the problem. The view from the beach is breath taking. We used the non motorized boats and had fun touring around the bay. Now the FOOD . The best that we had in Cuba . We had the a la carte and the food at them are well worth waiting in line to book. DELIOUS ! The one we enjoyed the most was The Gourmet. The Italian a la cart food was great but the servers was not as friendly. Also when you go to the Italian at lunch time you have to wait to be seated . We seated ourselves and the waiter told us next time to wait to be seated. They should have a sign posted. Also dress code is in effect for the a la carts which I liked.(no shorts)The buffets (2) food was also great lots of choices. The snack bar food was very good as well the fries and club house were our favorites. The pools are very clean. The plus pool is very large and offers different depth levels. The pool has a seating area with jets. There is a baby pool too. The staff at the swim up bar are very friendly . Overall the resort staff are friendly . There is a mall about 10 minute walk from the resort . It offers bowling . We went to an outside disco at the resort and had fun . Entertainment was very limited we watch a fashion show , water show and a kids show . A bit more would have been good .( We may have missed it too. ) Overall we loved the resort from walking the beach , wonderful food , great layout drink and a week of relaxing . We will return and would put this resort on your list to try . We love Cuba for the beaches and the wonderful people . I hope they will never change .

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Amazing resort

This resort is amazing, very friendly people, everybody was awesome from check in to check out. We are a family of five with two rooms side by side, rooms were spacious, very clean, everything we needed was right there in the room when we got there, even though we got there around noon, the rooms were already made up and ready for us. The beds were a little uncomfortable but everything else was good, the mini fridge was stocked everyday. Pools are amazing and big and very clean. I would suggest to book the "plus" accommodation since that includes a separate pool and a bar only for people with "plus" band, it was amazing. Food was the best that I have ever seen in Cuba, which included Nutella or peanut butter for the children, excellent buffet and restaurants, they were all amazing food. Beach is wonderful for snorkelling, lots of rocks on one side for your enjoyment of snorkelling, even there is a place for swimming, extremely nice. There is basketball, tennis, pin pon table, table hockey, gym, which is good is you have teenagers. I can literally say that we can't wait to go back.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Awesome

Beach was beautiful, hotel clean, never run out of food and drinks. Staff friendly. My boys loved it. Lots to do. Shows are great. Nice view of the beach and we could of sat on our balcony. You have to go and see it yourself won't be disappointed

Blau Varadero: We LOVE The Blau Varadaro! This was our stay!

This is our third time to be at The Blau. We were SO happy that it hadn't lost ANY of its' beauty! The staff, rooms, eating areas, pool and beach still as AWESOME as our first time we were there .. 2014! We requested an ocean view room and that is EXACTLY what we got! 846, overlooking the pool and the ocean..ideal room! YES we WILL go back..

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort!

The pool, beach, service, and night shows were all amazing!! We had a blast and all of the staff was super helpful and kind. I would also recommend doing a tour while you are there as you get to do some awesome stuff! I would definitely go back :)

Blau Varadero: Amazing, Clean, Fantastic Resort

Great Customer Service thank you ROSIE!!! Rooms are clean maid service is great, leave a little something and a note if there is something extra you require it will be there when you return to your room. Food is great never any issues and plenty to choose from, theme nights every night Asian, Cuban etc!!! BETTY makes awesome breakfast juice drinks while you wait, fantastic. Palma was good as well, nice atmosphere and they have a 4 or 5 piece band play lovely music while you enjoy your dinner. Pool is beautiful always clean and the lounges are plenty. Lunch at the Pool Restaurant and outside BBQ daily once again food is great. Beach is to die for just gorgeous and lots of palapas to shade under, beach bar and beach bar restaurant ( pizza, grilled sandwiches etc ). Overall rating I would say is 5++ We are returning guests to this Resort, our niece was married there 2 years ago and it was our first time to Cuba, we fell in love with this Resort and have returned 3 times and are planning on a 2 week stay next April. The Employees work very hard to make sure your stay is a memorable one. We would like to thank our extended Family there... Micha, Orlando, Rosie, Myrna, Jose, Tupac, Jorge, Roberto and Adelay's and everyone else. Managers are very approachable and spend time with you, they just want to make sure your vacation is wonderful. Thanks to David, who has just taken over the Managing of this Resort as our dear friend Jose had to leave and return to Spain we truly missed you this time around. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: We had a great time! Groups larger than 6 beware

The beach is fabulous, and the pools are great. The food was very good, probably one of the best we have had in Cuba. The A La Carts are very good, and the Italian lunch place was amazing. The buffets are just ok. We would strongly encourage the Plus side as you get access to a much better pool, you get 5 A La Cart dinners, and access to the VIP bar, which made incredible drinks. Snorkeling is amazing here. There are virtually no bugs. One issue - we were a group of 9, and this posed some very  [... read more]large problems for the resort when seating us for dinner. They refused to seat at any of the A La Cart's a table of 9. We argued, and argued, but they would not re-consider. When we arrived to our table of 5 and 4 each night, there was barely anyone else in the restaurant, and still then they refused to move the two tables together - very disappointed with this - terrible customer service. Especially since we were there to celebrate a birthday, and couldn't even sit together. This would also be a problem if you have a family larger than 6 people (the most they will sit together). Unacceptable, and this rule needs to be revisited.

We have been to this resort 5 times and love it! The best beach, awesome pools, the resort workers are bar none. Small resort but you can walk the beach for hours. If your going for the food....stay home. What they do have is great! The grounds are suburb,resort is 15 minutes from the airport.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Amazing resort!

Great hotel! Lots to do, food was great, rooms were very clean! The beach is amazing, you are able to snorkel right at the resort which was a great feature! We would definitely book another trip back to Blau!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: good time at the Blua as always

For our 12th visit it was as good as the first. The staff was great as always. Went bowling at small venue close by and had a lot of fun and laughs. Some changes for the good and some for the bad, but nothing that would change our minds from going back. If have not tried Blau Costa Verde, try it.
