Very nice vacation

Well kept, clean and comfortable public areas including pools, bars and gardens. Very attentive bar and buffet restaurant staff. Excellent service and food in the a la carte restaurants. Overall stay was a very pleasant experience.

Disappointed with the resort.

The tour company, Air Canada had shifted the departure times and therefore by the time we arrived at the resort it was midnight. The reception had only 2 staff members and there were 3 bus loads of vacationers arriving. When it was our turn (keeping in mind that we pre-booked and confirmed 2 months prior, our paper work was not prepared. It took us an hour to check-in ( 5 of us in the family with 3 rooms). There was no assistance and guidance to get to our rooms and to top it off, one of the bed [... read more]rooms the key card was not functional. We had to walk back to the reception area to get it sorted out. For this same room, we had to replace the key cards daily, because they would stop working. Of-course they blamed it on the cell phones, but they were never stored near any cell phones or devices. Also for this same room , the safe box stopped working twice. The provide only one large bottle of water per day in the rooms. Despite requesting 2 per day, they still delivered 1. One thing to watch out for is in the restaurants they pour the water from the bottles, but these are filled from the tap. There is a peculiar odor from the restaurant water. Always request an unopened bottle and inspect the cap for any glue residue. Unfortunately, I was a recipient of the tap water the first night at the Italian restaurant and needless to say that I did get sick. I had to be treated with antibiotics on my return. I generally found some of the staff only responsive and became more hospitable when I tipped them, though I knew a handful who were genuinely hospitable. I had complained and negotiated a free massage, however I was made to sign a statement that I cannot file any further complaints. Perhaps this is typical in Cuba. Although the resort is well kept and esthetically pleasing, the amenities and the conveniences were sparse. There were only 4 restaurants; the Buffet, Italian, Japanese and Cuban. The Italian was not as one would expect, however the Japanese and Cuban both were a surprise in terms of the service and flavour. There was a fifth restaurant, The Steak House, but you have to pay extra and it is only operational on twice a week. By the time our Tour Rep advised us about the restaurants the only times for dinner were 9 pm and this was too late, but we had no choice. If you are travelling, I suggest you contact the hotel directly and advise them to book you into the restaurants. Generally the quality of the food is average and lacked the flavour, so you should take your sauces. Watch your sauces, because our Ketchup disappeared and one guy came to my table and said he wanted the bottle of hot sauce. He was very impolite of-course, so I refused him any. The beach was quite a walk, nothing to complain about, but the beach are was very rocky, so swimming shoes should be a must. Unfortunately, despite our research, we were not aware of this and therefore did not enjoy the water than much except when going on the catamaran and basking in the sun. Also, we got bitten by the sand fleas and these bites lingered on even after we returned. We made the best of it, but was disappointed with the time shift of the flight schedule. However the flight staff and the Captain on the Air Canada Rouge flight were very courteous and friendly. I don't think we will be visiting this resort or Cuba for that matter. If we do decide to return, we try to be closer to Havana. Overall my rating is a two star and this place is definitely not a 4 or 4.5 star as it is rated on the websites.

This resort does not disappoint.

Room: large room was on 2nd floor with a corner balcony was lovely. Pool: clean and many shady areas to sit and read. There is no loud music which makes it peaceful. Very good food in the buffet and snack bar. Excellent staff. Beach has some sharp pieces so water shoes are advised.

Another Fantastic Time!

This resort is very well kept and has very beautiful grounds! The buildings are a little dated but fairly well kept and the food is as good as any I've had in Cuba! Staff as always are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I love this resort and wouldn't hesitate to go back....in fact I wanna leave now!

Great vacation

I was in Playa Costa Verde for two weeks Oct 25 -Nov 8. I would go back if I could right away. The rooms were renovated and clean, everything functioning. Washroom would meet Canadian hotel standards. My room service lady Aymei was very nice and professional. Food was good. There were line ups because of the construction at the buffet but it was actually very nice to eat outside in the bar by the pool. It was probably much harder on the staff. The beach was fine and the entertainment was very good and professional. There is lots of coral but the next hotel Playa Pesquero has a sandy entrance to the water. You can walk there. We are lucky to enjoy the best artists on the resorts in Cuba. I wished that there had been more Cuban themes as opposed to American music and shows. Cuba has beautiful art, music and visual . Maybe they wanted to please tourists. I loved my vacation and I am so grateful that I could enjoy this little Paradise for a very affordable price. No need to pay for Sandals in my opinion. All staff and management of the hotel thank you so much!

It was okay

We have been to Cuba 5 times and this one was nothing special. They were renovating the main buffet restaurant, which I understand has to be done during low season, but why not June/July/August ? As a consequence, there were a number of accommodations, like extra sittings at the a la cart, etc. - this seemed to be working okay. The only thing that struck me funny was that they had red bands for return guests and green for new, and the red banded customers seemed to get preferable service at many [... read more] locations. Um, how do you expect to turn the green customers into red, if you persist in this ? Other than that, it was as expected - good beach, friendly people, nice resort.

The resort was very nice and good

The grounds at Playa Costa Verde are very lush. The trees are mature. It rained while we were there so the grass was green and lush. Since we went in July there were not very many people there. It was really hot which we wanted since the weather in Ontario was rainy and some what cool. The room was very clean. We had a very nice maid which took good care of us. She introduced herself and we were good to go. I left her a few small gifts which she really appreciate it. We were located close to th [... read more]e pool so we did not have to walk very far. The ocean was nice but we could have used some beach shoes, which we have but left them at home, since the ocean is rocky. We made our way through and we were ok. The water very warm and clear. The food was good. We did not go hungry and we a lot to choose from. The chef greeted us and asked us about the food and what we thought. He even asked for suggestions, that has never happened to us before. Since we were there off season some of the all carts were open every other day. But we ate at the buffet since there was a variety of food. There were food stations which we could go to for food. The deserts were great. They always are good in Cuba. They have the best bread and buns. We did a small trip to the flee market. That was very nice and the people were very friendly and helpful. We bought some rum and cigars to take home with us. Overall the trip was super nice. I think we really needed to get away and this did the trick.

Nice resort but showing age.

This is our 4 year going to this hotel this time it was very noticeable that the rooms are looking very run down the mattresses and coverings need to be renewed, the safe was broken, the patio door required two people to open. It had fallen quite a bit from our first visit. Also this time we found the food quality left a lot to be desired. The service was good and the resort is very clean and beautiful.

Good resort to relax

resort is kept clean, rooms are also clean, buffet is repeating a lot, but hey - we didn't get sick and we were not hungry, just very simple food, entertainment in the evening was so-so, some ok some not so. we went there to relax and enjoy the beach and that was great.

Excellent Resort for the value

As a repeat customer, we were treated very nicely. This courtesy was surprisingly extended to our friends who were travelling with us. The restaurant reservations were done for us prior to our arrivals and there was a special dinner for repeat customers. One couple had been back more than 25 times. The hotel room was clean and well kept. The maid did a very good job after the mess we made back from the beach. The beach is quite clean, and even non-swimmer like me felt comfortable playing in the  [... read more]shallow water. There is a few rocky spots but it provides habitat from some small fish. You can see them swimming beside you. The staff at the watersport were very helpful and they made sure that whatever my family/friends did was safe and enjoyable. The food at the restaurants was very good. The buffet food was adequate but we did enjoy the grilled seafood and fruits The birds at the buffet were a bit of a nuisance. The staff were courteous and their service was good. We did enjoy coffee and non alcoholic drinks at the lobby bar. The staff there worked very hard to service their customers. Entertainment was good if not spectacular. We did enjoy the piano music at the lobby. Overall we had a good time at the resort

Great resort- Had great weather in Sept.

The grounds at the resort were very well cared for. The public areas were well maintained- no garbage left. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was great! We tried all of the a la carte restaurants which were fantastic as well as the buffet. Beach was great although it was a little walk to get to.

Beautiful Hotel but!

The food this time was a disaster and the Cubans kind of messed-up the hotel...food in the swimming pool and drinking everywhere and the priority to them...complete disorder and messy... It wasn't as we would like usually. The quality of food was very bad and the missed everyday fewthings like fries, tomatoes, cucumbers, mangos, fruits..etc.

No complain. Beach is fantastic, food great selection and always frash, rooms nice especially on first floor.Service nice.This is our second time in the resort and I would go again. Higly recommended for the price.

A Great Vacation!!!

This resort has great grounds, great beaches, a great selection of quality food, and great staff that was both helpful and courteous. The overall infrastructure of the resort was appealing, and everything from the lobby, to the bars, to the rooms was clean and well kept. For those who like staying up late, the entertainment was fantastic and for those who liked waking up early, the choice of coffee in the lobby bar was amazing and good quality. I can't remember anything from my stay in the resor [... read more]t that did not appeal to me, and I would definitely comeback to experience another great and relaxing vacation.

well this was great rooms clean pools with lots of chairs not a lot of chair huggers with the towels great drinks beach is very clean not a lot of dirt mature people very quite in the day laid back very nice eady money exchange any time of the day

Gorgeous Resort, Great Vacation!

We stayed for a week, had an awesome time, staff was friendly, food was good and the rooms were nice. Our room was spacious, very clean and nicely decorated. The pools were perfect and loved the beach!

Just Like Coming Home !!

4 Th Time back at my favourite resort ! It is so nice to be welcomed back like you are long lost freinds. The staff always goes that extra mile to ensure your trip is the absule best. The little perks that go along with returning guests are so appreciated. ! Can' t wait to return !!

Very good hotel

it is the best 4 star Cuban hotel that i have ever been to. service is good, food is remarkable. The ocean is a bit rocky first couple of feet, though. The pool is great and the bartender Jesus makes the best cocktails. Just ask him to make you something to his taste and let him work his magic.

Amazing resort

ground was fibulas .dining area and food was excellent, room was clean and housekeeping very good. I recommend anyone to this resort. The resort staff are very friendly. I review this as four and half star resort
