Large Resort, beautiful beach!

This resort was very large with alot of walking. The beach was absolutely gorgeous with white soft sand and barely a stone in sight. Our twenty-something daughters loved it. The food was fine, but very repetitive. Lobster dinner down the beach on the hill was lovely and quite fancy. The rooms were nicer than what we usually experience in Cuba, but our girls had issues in their room with the air conditioner leaking and the ceiling actually leaked significantly during one heavy storm. We would [... read more] go again for a good price ( we got it for $619 CAN pp) but we prefer a smaller resort. We had a couple wonderful servers but it was not the same "family" type feel as a smaller resort. We did not stick around long for the evening entertainment. It appeared to be the usual cheesy shows but we had some wonderful bands play on the beach and at dinner time. Loved it! If you just want a gorgeous beach with snorkeling and decent food at a good price, by all means check this place out.

Made memories!

We found the grounds tidy and safe. Staff were pleasant. The hotel seemed to be populated with Cuban locals. There were a lot of locals asking for handouts in and around public beaches. The food was ok, not much of a vegetable/fruit selection-this impacted by the hurricane as they had to help the opposite side of the island is what we were told. Felt like we were supported last because we were not Cuban.

Beautiful Resort

The grounds of this resort are beautiful and the staff do an amazing job of keeping it clean. The rooms are outdated but clean. The beds were comfortable and when we reported a problem with one of the toilets the staff was very quick to fix the problem. The entertainment staff also worked hard to provide a variety of activities, from bingo to mini golf and ping pong tournaments,aquafit and "bull riding"in the pool. It is a good place to vacation as a family or not.

Visiting Cuba with my grandchildren

I have now been to Club Amigo 9 times and it's certainly home away from home. Never been to any other hotel in Cuba. This was my grandchildren first trip to Club Amigo and the staff were amazing to them. The children are normally shy but opened right up as they were treated special. The staff certainly gave the kids a positive expression and both kids who are 3 & 7 said they want to go back!

A resort to return to

Very nice people. Grounds are well kept. Housekeeping staff works hard. Staff was friendly and attentive. You can tell when they went out of their way. Only problem was with one booked restaurant. Felt my friend and I were ignored. Over all I’d definitely return

Our sad experience at Club Amigo, Guardalavaca

My wife Katherine and I have been to Club Amigo Guardalavaca (tropical section) more than 30 times. We booked several month ago choosing Hola Sun and left November 5, 2017. The Cuban airline and crew were excellent. All went well till we entered the Club Amigo Hotel. Our names were not on their “new arrival” list so there was no room assigned to us. We did have our voucher but that did not seem to mean a lot and were told repeatedly “your name is not on the list”. They did put us up in [... read more] a room with a lot of water on the floor. Hola Sun representative told us, the next day that our registration email, sent from Hola Sun,Toronto, to Club Amigo Hotel, had been found in the “JUNK MAIL” section. Things generally do not get sent to the junk mail unless directed, especially from a Cuban Company “Hola Sun Toronto to a Cuban hotel. The insult is well registered and the chance of visiting Club Amigo again are very slim. Regards Peter Quiring

Nice and relaxing hotel!

This hotel is old but kept nice and clean , the service is ok , some of the staff doesn’t really care about their clients but some are nice and try to be pleasant ,if you tip you will receive better service , I would have actually enjoyed my stay at this hotel after much hesitation to book there , it was a disaster my vacation at this hotel though because I booked my fiancé from Canada only to arrive at the hotel and be told that he was not allowed to stay because we weren’t married, we h [... read more]ave been staying at hotels over a 5 year period with no problems , but yet there were many couples not married and big age difference , I guess there’s big favouritism going on there,because of this nonsense we weren’t able to enjoy our vacation which turned into a disaster, it’s too bad I won’t be returning to this hotel ever again .

It was just okay!!

I have traveled a lot and I do not usually make that much of a fuss over a room, but our room leaked water all over the floor, luggage - we had to move rooms - which annoyed the staff. They dragged my bed down from our 1st room and set it up in our new room. They were annoyed that they had to reset our safety deposit box in our new room. Our last day they, they snapped at me for being too early to pay them for a later check out. The food was not good - at all, except for the eggs in the morn [... read more]ing. The pool was freshly painted and didnt tell us, so I have a brand new bathing suit ruined with blue paint on it. The cleaning staff were the nicest people there. The weather was decent - did rain everyday but that is the tropics!! I did manage to relax and get some sun and read 4 books - so that goal was accomplished.

The best 3 star resort we have been to in Cuba

The best 3 star resort we have been to in Cuba, The grounds were very well kept, the staff was extremely polite and courtious, since we tip the service was second to none, there was not enough they could do for us. The pools were very nice, but we really liked the lovely sandy beaches, be sure to bring spray for the bugs at the beach. The nightly entertainment was quite good, wish I was younger to enjoy it every night. The buffet was slightly above average but we loved the ala carte resturant [... read more]s and ate supper at one most nights, the food was delisious there, really enjoyed Benny's, a Cuban food restaurant.

Amazing Resort

The hotel was great the food i give it a 6.5/10 and the room a 6.5/10 but all the rest is 10/10 and u would recommend this to every body abd if you haw kids dont be shy to bring them with you its very safe

An excellent resort

This was our thrid vacation to this Club Amigo. We enjoy this resort. The staff are awesome, its clean. The best rooms are the Villas in our opinion. The coral reef is within swimming distance from the beach. 4 pools to choose from. We also really like the location in Guardalavaca and the excursion are all great as well.

My favorite resirt

This is my fourth time at Club Amigo, for the price it is a great resort!! I enjoy mixing with the locals at the two bars beside the resort. The resort itself could use some upgrades / renos but still in fairly good shape. Staff are nice and friendly, most speak some English. Lady in the lobby store (she is the wife of a very nice bar tender at the lobby bar) she was the only unfriendly person I have ever met in the whole of Cuba. I will be back again next year :-)

Desent resort

I only went to the resort as a means to get there. Flights were difficult. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean, staff were very nice and the food not bad when I ate there. Really good for the money.

Club Amigo is home away from home

Club Amigo is only hotel we have visited and our recent trip is our 8th time there. Never thought we ever would go in July but I found the heat was not much different than in winter months. Hotel is rated 3* but to us it's a 5* as staff members are outstanding, they truly go out of their way to make things good for you. Hotel is kept clean, our Villa room was great and beds were very comfortable. The Guardavaca beach is awesome and it's great when local beach parties are held and you see so many [... read more] Cubans come out to dance and have a good time. I feel so safe in Cuba that I have traveled alone once there. My mother uses a walker and there are stairs to main pool area, there is always someone either staff or guests to help her carry her walker for her down the stairs. We are booked again in November, taking two grandchildren this time and they have seen pictures and excited to go to Cuba. Thanks trip central for another stress free booking & holiday.

6TH TIME AT HOTEL

much bettwe thia time around, flew Air Transat instead of Sunwing, flight times muh better. Guy (ignorant man that is usually at front desk not around). Dealt with Magdaline, sister of hostess at re d'oro where we stayed last visit to Cuba in January 2017. We got nicer rooms, beside each other and had amazing pig roast last night. Not nice on weekends when Cubans come for two or three dAYS WITH ALL THEIR KIDS. Good hotel for price and for a boys week but would not take my wife there.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaco

The hotels 3 star rating is a fair assessment. The grounds and facility's are well kept. Many of the rooms have been upgraded since my last visit in September. Some of the front desk staff have been replaced with more friendly and accommodating staff. The staff in the bars and dining facility are really friendly and accommodating as are the staff that look after the rooms. The food in the main dinning areas has improved slightly but is still really poor at the twenty four bar and food area. In [... read more] fairness the facility is relatively empty during the weed being filled up on the weekends by affluent Cuban families. While the hotel has strict rules in keeping the sex trade off its grounds it lurking strongly nearby with guests stay at that hotel solely because of its close proximity. The beach is really great as the sand goes out quite far before the water gets deep. However it would be nice it the sand was put back by the steps from the hotel to the beach

Good staff....crappy place

DO NOT RENT STANDARD GARDENVIEW!! No A/c working No phone to front desk Weekends are all locals...pushy at bar. Got offers from man-whore while with my daughter. Staff was friendly and helpful....especially with small tip(well deserved) Customer relations was not helpful. Had no tv all week even though I filled out work order.....this was in the upgraded room!

Paradise

A worry free vacation with wonderful attentive staff and lots of variety and choice in dining entertainment and one of the best beaches in Cuba, we stayed in a suite with a crib for our 7 month old son, the room functioned 100% was clean and comfy, the entire hotel has been upgraded and renovated since our last stay, keep it up Club amigo! This all inclusive option is a winner for the price. Will return for years to come.

Good for the money-cheap

People are nice. Service was good. Room was not perfect, but beds were comfortable and good. Beach good. Food- one could always find something tasty We appreciated no smoking areas. Minus- week-ends overcrowded. We enjoyed a la cart restaurant.
