Did Not Like this Resort at All!

If you weren't a "VIP" you felt like you weren't. For the money I spent on this trip I should never have been made to feel that way. No snack bars for non VIPs and we weren't allowed to take food from the buffet to our daughter who was in the room for 4 days sick (enough that we had to see the doctor). Time shares not mentioned when booking. They do bug you to take a tour of the time shares. Waited outside for us while we ate breakfast and even 4 days after we were there still bugged is to go on [... read more] a tour. Pools were freezing , fridge in room didn't work and was never restocked. Air conditioning didn't work right and there was no lock on our patio door. I really felt like a 3rd class citizen and our room was in the oldest section of the resort. We had to ask for towels all the time and they never left any in our rooms when they took the dirty ones. The one night that was done well was New Years Eve. They did a fabulous job of dinner and live music. The one night they treated everyone the same. Will never go back to Puerto Plata. This trip spoiled it for us. ☹☹

Has Potential

The grounds and the hotel have the potential for a very nice resort however the delivery of services is far from desirable. To anyone considering this resort I would highly recommend you reconsider. The all inclusive package is far from inclusive as severe limitations are placed on anyone not attending the sales seminars or who do not pay additional for an upgraded VIP bracelet. The restaurants and bars are all closed on Sunday evening for your welcome party that is not even on site. In order to [... read more] eat dinner on a Sunday you are required to take a shuttle to a remote location on another portion of the resort where you are greeted by a buffet style dinner that is literally lawn furniture set up on a gravel parking lot with portable washrooms off to the side. The entertainment provided is good however during intermissions you are invited to watch a presentation on the benefits of buying into this terrible resort and what its like to be a lifestyle member. If you choose to leave this only dinner available to you on a Sunday before the sales presentation is over good luck getting back with an all inclusive bracelet. The staff will barely acknowledge you with the all inclusive bracelet and will simply smile and brush you off. This is clearly a management philosophy that has been put in place as I experienced when one of their senior staff members in a white golf shirt walked over to the lunch buffet on the Monday following the welcome party. He spoke to the cook who was preparing my food and waited by the side of the cooking station instead of getting into line. As the cook was getting ready to serve the now cooked meat this man that I would assume to be a manager of sales person (they were giving a VIP tour to some new guests) proceeded to mutter something else to the cook to ensure he would get served first. I had been there just as the buffet had opened and had hand picked my piece of steak and had been waiting for roughly 10 min or so for it to cook along with numerous other guests. Just as the cook was about to serve me and the others lunch the manager/salesman spoke to him abruptly and with a scared look on his face the cook proceeded to give this staff member my lunch. That's right this manager/salesperson literally stole the food off of my plate the joke of it all is under the logo on his lifestyles resort shirt it says "I work for you".

Beautiful resort!!!

I loved everything about this resort, the staff was very kind and helpful, the food was very tasty with everything to choose from and never low on anything, The rooms were very clean and beautiful, I will recommend this Resort to everyone.

Great Value!

Our group went for a week over New Years and we all had a fantastic time! We are a family of 6 ranging from 18-54. Pros: - The New Years Eve Party was AMAZING! I think this is what the Sunday parties may be like(Our Sunday one was cancelled due to weather.) - Location of building 207 was great with a pool and bar right out front - Although our friends had a problem with their room, they offered to change it right away in addition to a couple freebies. Great customer service! - The food was cons [... read more]istently good even at the regular buffet. Try to book as many specialty restaurants as you can. The snack beach bar was just burgers/hotdogs which I personally love but I know others would want a few more options. Neutral: - some may take this as a negative but they close down the bars and pools by the beach around dinner time. I personally like this because it shifts everyone up near the lobby and allows you meet more people. Cons: - Everyone says this...but there is A LOT of walking. Lots of stairs too. - The rooms were OKAY. Nothing too bad, just dated. The beds were pretty hard too. - Impossible to find $1 bills around here haha. BRING LOTS! Overall: If you're laid back and just looking for a good time that doesn't drain the bank account, then you've come to the right place. However if you expect this to be like a 4-Star in Canada/US then perhaps you should increase your budget and go elsewhere. Would I come back here? In a heartbeat. Will I? Probably not. There's way too many places to explore!! Side Note: Everyone says you can't buy VIP access without being a timeshare owner. That's not true. You can purchase it for $1000pp with a $500 credit for your next stay. Most definitely NOT worth it...

Amazing resort amazing time

Traveled to confresi from Dec 18th 2015 until Jan 1 2016. Resort pools and beach are gorgeous, room was nice and clean food was very good lots of choices alacarts were very good would definitely return hopefully again for Christmas they put on an amazing Christmas Eve bash it was breath taking and did the same for New Year's Eve boggles my mind how they set up an prepared so much food for so many people

It was ok.

We had great weather for our trip but I was a little underwhelmed by the resort. We went there for our honeymoon and were told we would be upgraded and we would get some kind of welcome gift. The "gift" which showed up after we arrived was a cheese plate. And the room wasn't upgraded but we were told if we wanted to pay 20$ each a day we could be upgraded in a couple days. We had a "gardenview" room which faced a tree and the back of another group of rooms, not really much of a garden. The food  [... read more]was bland and nothing special. We spent most of our time on the sister resort connected to ours because we found it to be a lot nicer and more relaxing.

Had a wonderful time!

My husband John and I had a great time usual, we have been to the Peurta Plata area 9 times,but never to this resort. It was a beautiful resort, quite spread out and scenic. We were in the three thousand block, and our room was fine, large balcony and always clean. Maids were very friendly. The entertainment staff were great, Minnie Mouse, Spaghetti, Chocolat, Goofy, Romeo. They even got me up on stage one night - dancing contest - hiliarious (I'm 64) what can I say!!! The only thing I do have to say about this resort is that there are a lot stairs and hills to climb so anyone with any kind of mobility problem I would not recommend this resort. We were able to go next door the the Tropical and it was another great resort. Was this resort perfect, no, but we did not pay for a five star so shy would we expect one. We had a good time and for what we paid it was perfect.

Lovely resort!

We visited this resort from November 23-30, 2015. We had a great time but there were a few hiccups. Although we upgraded to the VIP option, we were under the assumption that this would provide us with several additional options when it really only allowed us access to a separate area of the beach. It was very confusing as the hotel also referred to their time share guests as VIP and they had several additional benefits. The food was okay but our group really enjoyed the Asian restaurant.

Amazing Visit

A holiday is only as good as you make it. Was nervous after reading some reviews but we just got home Nov 30th after a week and everything was AMAZING. I can not complain about being in the sun in a beautiful resort not having to cook, clean or doing anything except relax. If you are going to complain about being taken care of stay home. Staff goes above and beyond to make stay good. We stayed in 304 building no issues AC worked great, housekeeping Ana tried to communicate always made sure we ha [... read more]d towels. Maintenance staff works so hard to keep grounds beautiful. One gentleman waxed lobby floors, moved umbrella's for people near pool if they asked, he picked up cups and emptied ashtrays around pool. He was always pleasant and had smile on his face and talked to us. Bartenders get to know your drinks and had us always refilled without asking. There is a lot of stairs though to get from rooms to pool level then back down other side to buffet.

Nice resort

Food was good. I little hilly. Not a very nice beach. Were not allowed to visit VIP bars/restaurants. Golf course was lousy. We went in October, it was very quiet. Large resort with frequent bus to take you around.

Excellent Resort experience

Traveled with my 24 yr. old daughter & we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Cofresi has it all! The staff are very friendly and attentive. The pools and grounds are beautiful. Our room was large and clean. The buffet food was hot & tasty. We tried 3 a la carte restaurants and enjoyed them all. Wish we could experience them all. I have been to a number of Dominican Resorts and Cofresi is my new favorite.

Restaurants and buffets are very good pools are exellent and good people all around good hospitality rooms are good but only junior suites other rooms are average and not properly cleaned not a good beach to swim

Good Resort

The resort what overall what was expected. Good food for buffet style, clean rooms, and friendly staff. expect to be pressured a bit for shopping at off resort excursions. If you can always upgrade as the resort has no go areas depending on what package you buy.

Amazing Time!

My partner and I travelled from the dates of Monday April 20th - 27th. We were a bit nervous prior to arriving as we did not know what to expect after reading the reviews. Luckily, we both had an amazing time! Overall, the experience of the staff and the resort was great! The two events (Thursday and Sunday) are absolutely incredible! We had such a good time! Everyone was very pleasant during our stay, very welcoming and helpful when asked questions. The resort itself is well kept, always clean [... read more] and looked after. Food was great at both buffets and restaurants and we found the standard room had all the essentials. The only drawbacks were the following: - Hot water was not running in the room every evening. There were only three days where we had warm water. - The sewer drainage form the report runs past the rooms, which we could smell in the room if we kept the doors/window open. - You must bring a hardcopy printout of your confirmation upon check-in, they will not allow you to use your phone/tablet to reference. - We found there was not enough shade provided on the beach area which left us usually by the pool during the majority of the day. I would recommend this resort despite the drawbacks!

Grew tired of hearing VIP only

The grounds were well- kept and beautiful. If is very hilly, so wouldn't recommend to guests with mobility issues. Our "garden view" was staring at a brick wall off our patio, which on the other side of it was a street. We've traveled a lot and have never seen such a "class" system. Tons of restaurants, bars, beaches and pools that we couldn't go to, because we weren't VIP. This is part of their timeshare that isn't a timeshare program. Makes you feel "less-than".

Nice Resort too many VIP sections

We like the resort for the most part. The staff was friendly the pools are nice, the entertainment and food was average to good. The problem we had was all the exclusion there were, if you were not a VIP members. When we book our holiday I had up-graded our room from a standard room to a suite. When booking this holiday I was unaware that the resort was a life style property/ sale centre. I don't believe that we will be back to Cofresi Palm Beach & Spa for this reason.

Good Resort

Food is great at this resort. Wait staff excellent. Bar staff was hit or miss. Beach was OK. Ocean World is great. Dolphin and sea lion shows are a must. We were in the older section. The bed was very hard. The new rooms are lovely with a much softer bed. Lots of stairs. You get a great workout but not good for anyone with mobility issues or small children

Great resort. Friendly people.

The resort was very clean. Many stairs to climb but well worth it. Careful not to get sucked into the time-share aspect. They promised to provide us with a tour of the property and instead we were herded into a big time share scam called Lifestyles. Wasted 1 hour of my time before I realized it was not a tour.

Too big

too big and too many steps to get from point a to point b . had to be at lobby for 6am so we called for luggage pick up hahaha.. had to lug all of our suitcases up three flights of stairs to lobby area because they sent one guy with no golf cart to help 4 couples .

Good Times

The rooms in the 30xxx needs to be updated, especially the bathrooms but they were kept very clean. The area also smelled of sewage sometimes but because we were only in the rooms to sleep we didn't mind that much. Much better to have a junior suite. Also, we would have liked to see a 24 hour snack bar. Because we went down south to be outside, we would like to have spent after 12 midnight outside with a drink and some snacks.
