Excellent service and food

The hotel staffs were extremely helpful. All the staffs were extremely friendly, including the bartenders and buffet chefs even though they do not get tips very often (you should definitely tip the staff at least occasionally, as it makes up the bulk of their income). All the buffets and snack bars (also restaurants that you have to reserve) were free, and the only time I had to spend money on the resort was at the gift stores and occasional tipping. However, I wouldn't recommend the Mexican restaurant - it was the only place on the resort where I didn't enjoy the food. Enjoy the sun, beach, and fruits!

Great resort, great staff !!!

The resort was clean, lots of flowers, nice pools, the restaurants are great and the staff is superb. We took the Diamond Club upgrade; worth it. The beach is to die for although due to the size of this resort, it can take up to 10-12 minutes walk from the Lobby; but you can take a cart (if not full).

Great value for the money!

Hotel was nice. Rooms did need a bit of fixing in regards to the bathroom fixtures. Food was a bit repetitive in buffet, but a la cartes are delicious. Beach clean, staff friendly and very helpful and curteous.

Different company different results!!!

We were here 4 years ago with our kids and their boyfriend and girlfriend, then it was called Sirenis La Salina, we had a great time and the food was quite alright for Cuba, so we returned this year for our 25th wedding anniversary. Now it is owned by Memories, well we have quite a memory, arrived Monday 10:30 pm and we were both sick by Wednesday afternoon. Nice resort

Grounds are beautiful. And the beach was one of the best.the staff were polite and friendly. We did not care for the food in the budget. The location of the resort was good. Close to the town of Varadero and not far from the airport.

Amazing Resort

The people and staff we very friendly and we enjoyed ourselves alot. We took our 17 year old daughter and our 13 year old son. It was her graduation gift and for 2 kids that dont get along at home I was so happy we choose to take this family vacation. The snorkling on the hobbycat boat was by far one of my best part of the trip. The schools of fish swimming around us was AWESOME. We all enjoyed that. Dated resort

This is a big resort lots of walking to and from the beach, clean and friendly staff. The food was good for Cuba . It could do with a big upgrade. Bath room tub not good for some one with knee problems. Jessica at front desk is star also the manager from spain / asst.manager did try to help out.

Interesting Resort

We enjoyed our stay, the room was kept very clean, Tammy, and she was always very friendly and helpful when we seen her. The beach is amazing and the Diamond Club beach bar made it even more amazing. The only issues we encountered were the birds flying and eating freely in the buffets and the long trek to the lobby when our door key cards wouldnt work (2 times) late at night. Would be nice to have a way that the keyd could have been brought to us when we called the front desk.

Great Resort for the Active Couple!

This trip was amazing! My boyfriend and I are a mature young couple who both lead active lives and we wanted a resort that wasn't party central and a place to relax, unplug and rewind for the week of May 10-17. The weather was AMAZING. The beach at the resort was absolutely beautiful and there was never ever a shortage of chairs. There are also plenty of little huts for the option of shade or sun. Its no Mexico or Dominican, but was still better than any other food I've had at other resorts in Cuba. The nighttime shows were so amazing especially the aqua ballet and the Micheal Jackson tribute are both must sees. There is plenty of crowd interactions and a circus one night too. Every night was different. We did the Japanese and Italian a la carte restaurants, the Japanese is a must. We decided to hire a driver and go into Havana one day. Be prepared-it's a very VERY long day but was well worth it to visit the cigar factory and the downtown market for cheap paintings and hundreds of other souvenirs. We also just did a half day trip snorkeling for only around 30 pesos through sunwing, highly recommend as this made our trip! We went snorkeling for 1 hour (800m loop) in a coral reef, and then traveled a few minutes and to spend another hour in a cave. Was truly a great and fun experience that's an inexpensive way to see Cuba and get off the resort for a day. The only thing is that the resort is big. I'd recommend getting a room near the center of the resort. The disco closes pretty early so noise shouldn't be an issue. There is a cart that goes around the resort every 10 minutes. Cuban time, though lol. We barely used it. That's the only "bad" thing, however it was a great week at a wonderful resort!!

Very nice resort for the price.

The hotel and grounds was well maintained and the food was good. The only thing I would complain about is the bathroom shower which wasn't working properly. The rest of the hotel was nice. The beach was beautiful and you can go for long walks.

Definitely made some good lastng memories

Great resort , food was good lots to chose from , Staff were super friendly make you feel like your part of there family , lots of entertainment for all ages , the only downfall was the rooms need an up to date look / but were very clean / and the beaches always amazing quick service at the bar over all great

Fun resort

Staff was really nice and beach was awsome! Food is repetitive but you can always find something you like. Night time was very fun due to the large amount of people in the resort. Variety of places available to take some sun depending on your interrest (quiet pool, party pool or beach). Loved the weather!

Ok but expected more

Food was very bad. Some A la Cartes were good but not many. very nice staff . Pool dirty. WAY too many "kids" resort was way too big as beach was a 15 min walk. not enough buses to take you around. only one thing to do at night and it was packed.

Huge resort

When we arrived it was like spring break in Cancun. Exam week was over, so just bad timing. We made the most of our time, but personally I would choose a smaller, more personable resort next time. Lots of walking so not good for people with mobility issues at all.

Great Resort

We loved the beach and the pool areas. Fun for all ages! The staff was very kind, helpful and friendly. Our favourite activity was the beach party. The room was always clean. Our only complaint was that the beds were very uncomfortable. Overall a great experience!

Definitely for the younger crowd

This resort is very large and very noisy in the public areas. Our room in Bld. 22 (after some room shuffling) was comfortable and quiet at night. The staff were excellent in all areas. The food was more than adequate and lots of it and there were food and drink areas at both pools and the beach. There is a lot of walking required to and so for older folks it might not be a great first choice.

No very clean & tiny black bugs

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (Not very clean, the service is very lousy the food is not the best just the same thing everyday - room service is really really poor - no one seems to want to help when you have a concern. sorry for being so outspoken but I'm just being honest.

Great resort, best beach we have been on

the resort was not too large, so it was easy to walk to beach and main building, grounds keepers were working all day , staff very helpful and friendly, the two pools were great although we spent most of our time at the "quiet" pool.

Fun for all ages!!

The hotel is laid out very nicely. Lobby at the front with the quiet pool directly in front of it. We stayed in building 22 and it was a nice quiet area, close to lobby and quiet pool but far from beach. The staff were amazing, so friendly, went out of their way for anything you needed especially the quiet pool bartender who would run to the lobby for champagne for me upon request...sweetheart :) the cuban culture and staff are so appreciative that only a few small gifts (toiletries, candy, chil [... read more]dren and adult sized clothing, 1 peso etc.) and they were over the moon and made sure you had plenty of bottled water and clean towels when they had them. There are a few downsides to this resort (but i've learned it's just this way in cuba due to the communism) is that the resort did not have fresh beach towels daily and often wasn't until the afternoon. The beds very uncomfortable. A/C in the rooms worked very well. The activity pool became very loud, obnoxious, repetitive with the music and activities were the same thing every day. We only spent time at this pool because it was the one that had the waterslide for the kids and we could not get away with the walk to the beach without a stop off for a slide. The slide structure Looked like the bolts needed tightening but the resort did not seem to have those kinds of maintenance people on hand so again you have to sort of turn a blind eye to these kinds of things. The a la cartes were disappointing. They are trying hard to present a nice meal but the food just is not up to par for an ala carte. The buffet is much better and defintely embrace the cultural foods and you'll be set..don't count on a good hamburger or anything and you'll be fine. the fish is very well done and selection was amazing with a different themed country every day/night. beaches were nice, very little seaweed, warm clear water, small waves. 24 hour money exchange made it very convenient to change money over when you needed it right at the resort...awesome! Gift shop prices were not overinflated and very fair. Overall the resort was definitely a 4 star again the biggest thing i would say not happy with was the sharing of the waterslide pool with the younger louder crowd but perhaps if i was part of the younger louder crowd i would probably care less..it would have been a very fun resort for that crowd i'm sure. I would return to this resort and recommend it. Quiet area ask for a room in the 20's buildings, louder areas close to theater ask for a room in the 30's and then close to beach but far from lobby ask for the 40's. Bring small gifts and clothing for the staff. Excursion to downtown veradero very safe, worth the money and got all our sovenirs for cheap.

Mediocre

The hotel was an overall good experience. The beach is beautiful and the pools are very nice as well. The excursions were very good (we highly recommend the Jeep Safari Tour). We were very frustrated though with the aggressiveness of certain staff. It is a huge resort, so it really is not feasible to tip everyone, but everyone expects a tip (and some get quite angry if a tip isn't given). For example, at the beach I would like to set out my own chairs, but the man would not allow people too. He [... read more] would force his services upon people (when we were entirely capable of unstacking the chairs) and then expect a tip and wait until he got one. That was frustrating, seeing as we didnt need his help in the first place. Also, on the excursions expect to be obligated to tip to use the women's bathrooms. We didn't get a blanket until the final night of our stay, making the nights quite cold, but it was a 15 minute walk to the lobby from our room and the phone wouldn't work, so we put up with it. The snack bar by the quiet pool was terrible. We waited for approximately an hour (while newcomers were served before us). Once we were served, only two of our party of five received something edible. One received a bun without the contents of the club that she had ordered, while another received a sandwich with not fully cooked (and barely there) meats and egg. The other two snack bars are good (though the beach one is extremely slow, be prepared). With the drinks, I tended to ask for less alcohol because they mix them quite strong, but for some that is there preference :). The buffets were pretty good; you could always find something to enjoy. Also, they have real ketchup now! (Heinz) so no need to bring bottles with you anymore :). For the most part, however, the stay was mainly pleasant.
