Fantastic Resort!

This was one of the nicest resorts I have been to. It was clean, the people were welcoming and friendly, the food was good and the beach was breathtaking! The lake and channels were also beautiful to walk around. It was pretty quiet since everything except the snack bar shut down at 11pm. There was no disco on the resort, but there was a bus to take you to one at 11pm and bring you back.

Felt unwanted

On arrival to the hotel we encountered a nice staff at the front desk who signed us in. Unfortunately, he was only one of a handful of nice staff as the rest of the people we encountered were rude and made us feel as if we were an inconvenience. In addition to the mostly rude staff, the grounds of the resort were often littered with plastic refuse including cups and straws. I could not believe the amount of plastic used as this resort, from providing straws to stir your coffee to use to eat ice  [... read more]cream, it was shocking. Even the ocean floor at the beach had straws and cups in it that I saw while snorkeling. The best part of this vacation was seeing the wildlife, including the little toads, tree frogs, lizards, and wide variety of water birds. I loved the beach and the water was calm and warm and lovely to swim and snorkel in. Heck, even the food was decent and I was always able to find something tasty to eat. However, because of the unclean surrounds and rude staff I will not recommend this hotel or return to it for any reason. What a sore disappointment.

Great time :)

Had a really nice time. Beach is amazing . Staff was great. Food was pretty good, always found something to eat. Could be a little better selection and some of the prep food lines where a little long. Maintence could use improvements. All in all for Cuba a great place

Wonderful resort

Love this resort, beautiful grounds, all the food was delicious and a lot of options! Bed was super comfy!Staff are amazing and the entertainment is excellent ! The beach is best in all of Cuba! I was here once before with a lg group this time just my hubby and myself ,I thought I would get a return guest dinner or something special in room but unfortunately I didn’t.. no big deal that was the only disappointment I have and that I couldn’t stay longer!!

Overall great resort!

The Memories Caribe Beach Resort still needs a little TLC. Some of the rooms still have not been updated. We had a few issues with the room, but everything was fixed right away so the service was good. Rooms were clean, maid service awesome! They did run out of food at the pool bar a few times but you could order other items that were available. Their were some line ups in the buffet for food for pasta. Food was generally good. A lot of people went early in the morning at 6.30am to lay towels down, but then had their towels stolen. Watch your towels as there seems to be a towel bandit on the beach. Many people lost their towels and then the hotel wants you to pay 15 pesos each per towel. I would recommend paying a little extra money to pay for diamond club so you always have a chair. Entertainment was great! Highly recommend the Beans café and Lobby bar as all drinks and entertainment was amazing!!! Overall the resort is great, resort grounds and some rooms need some updating since hurricane, but they have done well in fixing all the important items. Grounds will take time to grow again. I can't say enough about the beach. It is awesome!

RELAXING WEEK IN THE SUN!

This was a nice relaxing trip. The resort is still recovering from the Hurricane, but all facilities are open. They have white washed everything - walls, roofs so it's lost some of the Caribbean charm you see in the photos. It is an adult only venue so no kids which kept things a little more quiet. The entertainment was varied. Some things at the pool, at the lobby as well as the theatre. Again they try hard to please. The Brazilian themed show was spectacular! Because you are a long way from anything though I'd like to see a different show every night. There's a sports bar, but it's mostly soccer on the various screens. It's almost an exclusive Canadian crowd down there. About half English half French so an opportunity to have channels set to the Jays & NHL hockey was missed. Come on Rogers! Send a rep down and sell them a sports package! I mentioned the guests were all Canadian which is, of course, ok eh. Sorry... but the last Cuba resort we stayed at had a lot of Europeans as well which made for interesting chats around the bars. Sorry I have to end on a negative. The quaint little airport was totally overrun on the way home. Over an hour in line that started at the bus and worked it's way to the SunWing counter, then fight through the other counter lines to wait another hour in the customs line.

Amazing Resort!

This was the first vacation that we have ever been on, we were very please with this resort! Everybody was so nice and friendly, the pool always had available chairs, and if not there was a person to grab the chairs from the stack for you. The beach, was absolutely beautiful as well but had to get there early to find chairs! There was a nice variety of food. Nice resort

The resort was great, always had staff cleaning ,our rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels. The staff were very friendly.The problem we had was the the buffet was always cold, and the drinks were not made with fresh juice.

Relaxing get away at the beach!

Overall, this was a lovely trip. We had fun and enjoyed the beach everyday. The staff were very attentive, especially at the beach bringing plenty of drinks and food to our loungers. No concerns finding space on the beach, and the beach is amazingly beautiful. The rooms were fine, clean and the beds where comfortable, but definitely not posh, just simple. The little chairs outside were not very comfortable, and we do like to sit on the balcony or terrace to read and drink coffee in the morni [... read more]ng. In some common areas, i found a bit dirty with litter scattered around (yes it was windy, but it was there all day) pool was ok but not enough loungers and some needed to be tossed in the garbage they were in such poor shape. I did not like that they used little plastic cups, and we did bring a insulated coffee cup to keep our drinks cold and reduce waste. We had lunch everyday at the beach eating either sandwiches and or pizza. Pizza was excellent. Washrooms were a bit of a walk from the diamond club beach area. Coffee is good at the snack bar, otherwise and in the piano bar. Don't order anywhere else or you will be disappointed. We ate breakfast at the buffet and at the diamond club breakfast that they serve. Eggs were cooked well, omelette. Very bad pancake. Decently fresh fruit. Dinner was decent at the buffet. I did not stave and again, the service is wonderful. Not a lot of fresh veggies, and i was sometimes disappointed to see ham added to the veggies-why? The fried fish was pretty good and i lived on this at dinner everyday so i can't say what any other meats tasted like. The restaurants, i was really disappointed in. The food was dry and just plain. The fish soup at the asian restaurant tasted like sea water and a couple bits of fish. I could not believe they could serve something so horribly bad. Entertainment was good, but we did not see much as we went to bed early. Overall we had 5 STAR FUN, and the staff were great, but this is barely a 4 star resort, so do not expect too much and you will have lots of fun too! What was 5 star: -the beach of course -not a bad price (3 star price) -very attentive friendly staff -best pizza on the beach -crazy funny towel animals in our room -Junior brought me a coconut to drink and eat everyday! What was 2 star: -the restaurant food -bland food -old decaying loungers -the wasteful use of small plastic disposable cups

EXCELLENT!!!

This resort was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and curtious. Beach was amazing, best beaches in Cuba, so they say and they are so right!!!. The food was very good, lots of variety. Overall, amazing resort! Would definitely return.

Terrific Resort &Great Value

The resort is making great progress after the hurricane in 2017. The grounds are constantly being maintained and being rejuvenated. We noticed that our room has been upgraded somewhat and that we understand renovations are ongoing. The service was 5+ star, and it may have been due to diamond club, but we were very pleased. We received great service daily on the diamond club beach area, at the bar, and served on the beach, also the snack bars on the beach gave great service. Only one day did the staff run out of loungers, but retrieved some more for our use. The piano bar wait staff were friendly, polite, and very eager to serve, even our large night time group gatherings. Again 5+star service. We also enjoyed our a la carte restaurant servers, Asian, Mediterranean, and Beach restaurant was a nice touch. We especially enjoyed the daily option of a la carte breakfast at the Mediterranean restaurant for diamond club. The service was warm, friendly, and food was served fresh and hot. The buffet was ok, but lacked the hot cases being hot temperatures, as many hot food choices were Luke warm to cold. The selection was great if you were willing to wait for custom food prep such as eggs in morning, or pasta bar in evenings. These were always fresh and tasty. Our room was comfortable and what we expected. We did request balcony, but we were on ground floor, but we had a nice view of the gardens and seemed private. We did get our request for king size bed,but not as close to the beach as what we would have hoped. However, this resort was smaller and made it easy to get around. We enjoyed the smaller resort as we felt like the staff remembered us each time we were served, at bars or restaurants which increase our levels of service. Overall We would consider coming back to this resort and we highly recommend it.

I will not be returning to this hotel. After 1 day I noticed water that was leaking through the lights and ceiling after someone had a shower in the room above us. I asked to move and they moved us to building 24. It was a renovated roobeen to Cuba 7 times and I know what to expect. The omlett, fruit, deserts. Grilled chicken, pasta bar and stir fry, and panini sandwiches on the beach were good. We didn’t eat anything else. A lot of people complained that they were sick after they ate soup. The lobby bar had good drinks and coffee. The staff was helpful and great iendly. The diamond club was worth the beach service. You must go early to the beach to get your chairs and reserve them. The beach was beautiful!

Loved it!!

Stayed here March 7-14. Stayed in bldg.25....newly renovated room...only thing it didn't have a bathroom door which I heard about before booking,and almost didn't book here because of this.Travelled with my cousin and my 17 year old daughter..very awkward at times, but we brought tacks with us and the beach towel in the room fit perfectly!! Bit of a wait in line,but worth it. Everything is kept very clean here...the staff for the most part are very friendly and helpful..the entertainment here is great...nice shows at night and lots of activities during the day if that is what you want. Don't miss the bar called Route 66...best drinks on the resort.We found it 2 days before we left.Kinda hidden away, and only open 3-11pm. Nice beach bar and snack bar makes the best pizzas for you. I will definatly be going back to this resort again...loved the quietness here as well....no kids makes a nice change...not a place if you like to party...gets very quiet at around 11pm. All in all I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. ..

Wonderful Holiday!

Two teachers looking for a relaxful beach holiday. This resort lived up to all of our expectations. Amazing good walking beach. Awesome turquoise water.The grounds of the resort still show some effects of the fall hurricane.Our room in Block 15 was fine...some biting mosquitoes were problematic if the balcony sliding doors were left open. Food at the buffet was varied and plentiful. The 3 restaurants were 4 star Cuban . The 24 hour snack bar offered drinks, special coffees, pizza and hamburgers. [... read more] We opted for the $100 Diamond Club - would recommend it. Beach towels in the room, comfy chairs and umbrellas at the gorgeous beach, bar and snack bar beach service....Water, soft drinks and beer replaced daily in the room fridge. Resort employees were friendly, professional and helpful. Not a resort for partying. Quiet at night. Mostly middle age tourists.

Fabulous Vacation!

My husband and I returned home from Memories Caribe on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. We had a lovely, clean end room (balcony) looking over the lake. Gorgeous sunrises. The sliding door lock was broken but we brought door stoppers which did the trick. Beautiful large bathroom but no door. Took a little getting used to but fine. The staff from every position were wonderful. Front desk, housekeeping (lovely towel displays everyday), servers, gardeners and beach chair helpers. Ola's from everyone. R [... read more]AUL and JANET at the buffet treated us like royalty every breakfast and lunch. They always saved our table and put flowers on them which was a lovely touch. I hope management reads these reviews and lets them know how much we appreciated their friendly service. The food was pretty good. A lot to choose from but lacked spice. No peanut butter or maple syrup so bring your own if possible. Great selection of deserts!! The cooks at the stations were fabulous and we especially enjoyed the pasta station at lunch. The beach was spectacular and you could walk for miles along the shore when the tide was low and walk back along the sandbanks. That was so cool!! We picked up some lovely shells. There were always lounge chairs available. The gardeners are working hard to restore the beautiful gardens. We liked the "village" feel with the chalet like buildings spread out with lovely paved pathways winding around the property which we walked every night. The entertainment was top rate. A lot of talent with vibrant costumes. The hour or so of karaoke prior to the shows were super fun to listen to. We hope to return next year.

Great vacation

Really enjoyed our stay, the quality and variety of food was good (some steam tables were warmer than others) , Staff were all very friendly, good recovery from the hurricane but you could tell some of the drywalling and painting was done in a hurry. Entertainment team take their job seriously. Resort needs to repair walk ways because of trip hazards. Lots of nice extras like beans cafe, 24 hrs snack/drink bar, bbq and pizza at the beach

Awesome resort

We absolutely loved this resort . Everyone was so friendly , happy , and relaxed . The food was the best we have ever had in Cuba . The beach was great , the rooms were awesome .. didn’t like the no door on the bathroom lol . But we knew before we went so we bought a shower curtain and hung that up and it was fine . We will be returning to this resort .

Comfortable, Relaxing, Awesome Staffwell kept

well kept resort except for public washrooms were not properly attended to..did mention to Diamond Club Rep, bars couldn't always keep up to guest demands, sometimes long waits for drinks, friendly, helpful staff, stunning beach with fabulous sunsets, clean up of grounds continuing after Sept'17 hurricane, roof at Cuban restaurant was being repaired..would return to this resort. Questionable value for Diamond Club upgrade

Beautiful Memories at Caribe

Feb 7_14 My husband and I took our very first vacation and we choose Memories Caribe. 3 other friends have stayed and loved it. Well we were not disappointed. From first arriving with dancers as a welcome off the bus to the great reception desk with extremely polite and helpful people. We had pre booked Diamond club and went straight to our room. We booked a pool view Jr Suite terrece. when we arrived to our room there was some issues with the air conditioner and lots of water was coming out b [... read more]ut a call to the front desk had someone there in mins..he did a few things and assured us it would be better...well after a few more mins unfortunately I was not at all comfortable and wanted to see about another room. The fount desk was amazing and had us in a beautiful balcony room closer to the ocean and it was perfect. Our bed was not new but comfortable, the bathroom was large with a door and always good pressure for the shower and hot water. As for the grounds they were so beautiful and we made sure we spoke to the gardners daily to tell them what a great job they have done since Irma. We brought alot of work gloves and gave them all away. The work that had to be done after Irma was massive and going here you wouldbt even know a F5 hurricane blew through there, with a few exceptions of new sod and small palm tress in some areas. The beach was breath taking and super clean. The staff was always helpful and things always to do down at the beach. Our bartender Wendy was amazing at rum punches thats for sure and the best pizza is right down on the beach ohhhh and fresh hot churros being brought right to you a few times a day was THE BEST. Also the long walks on the sand bar was most memorable and to see all the star fish and going snorkeling was so great The entertainment was second to none and there was fun and wonderful things to see and hear nightly from amazing dancers and water shows and karaoke nights to the foam dance party on the beach ..you are never wondering what there is to do. We of course we were all told about Cuban food...I found it great..yes the buffet has pretty much the same things daily but it was always good and fresh stuff from the grill and pasta bar or seafood grill you will most certainly not starve here. The staff in the buffets and A la Cartes were so helpful and poilte. I was always told that the people of Cuba are why people go there well they were sooooo right these people especially at Memories always go above and beyound for anyone and do it so graciously and politely and not like they were just waiting for a tip like other places in the Caribbean Ive been told. We were very busy doing alot of excursions so we missed 2 of our A la Cartes and only went to the Cuban one which I liked very much, my husband didnt but hes a wee bit picky...the 24 hr bar had THE BEST fries and their ketchup is good..was warned about it but it wasnt heniz but a damn good second thats for sure..drinks of course are pentlyful and delish..we loved the margaritas in the piano bar and pina colodas in the sports bar are amazing. Tony Tony at the sunwing desk was awesome he helped very much and we ended up very much enjoying Havana thoughly for our day trip and our off site supper at Lennys bar and grill and our horseback riding over at Flamincos. The bugs we heard can get bad but we had none but that could have been because of the wind...the weather was hot and beautiful usually a daily of 28 one morning of rain during breakfast and then gorgeous the rest of the day...animals at resort...I love them so not a problem but we did see a few cats that wonder around and yes even in the outdoor buffet eating area but they dont seem to bother anyone at all...the birds are great singers and do occasionally land on the backs of chairs looking for some food. The cleaning staff everywhere are constanly working and so poilte to always have a Hola for you.. (love it) our rooms had the most beautiful towel art..loved seeing each night we got back to the room. Meeting others there was a beautiful highlight and some have been there multiple times and for sure I can see why. Overall hands down I would visit Memories Caribe again as we loved it very much. The only tiny issue would be that I wish there was more info about Diamond club and how to access the perks..such as private dinner at the pool or private breakfasts we didnt know about these things until quite a few days in..I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who asks and for a first trip anywhere it was GREAT and I sure cant seem to get the Memories Caribe song and dance out of my head..lol..I even taped it to always remember lol. Absolutely beautiful

Just returned from Memories Caribe Sat Morning and I have to say how pleased we were with our choice.We arrived late at night greated with a cocktail it was awsome ,and check in went absolutely wonderful, right from that moment we knew we were among some really fantastic people .We arrived to our room and it was absolutely wonderful, we were in block 17 in room 1716 it was a perfect room ,you could see the ocean first thing in the morning . .The morning started very early as we were anxious to [... read more] see what home away from home was awaiting for us .As we made our way out for breakfast we were greeted with the most cheerful gardeners with Hola that made my morning perfect , but I can't remember all their names .The one that does stick was Roberto he was so happy to have a high five everymoring .Great guy but really their all great guys, they work so hard to keep the gardens beautiful.As we made our way to the buffet we were greeted with smiling faces from everyone .Claudia was our waiter all week as well as Ideal and I have to say these 2 made our morning.We nicknamed her giggles as she was always giggling .We then made our way to the beach and when we first saw this little piece of heaven we were in love ,absolutely beautiful and breath taking .Truly amazing beach .The beach bar had the most handsome man working the bar Angel Luis very nice guy , he reminded me of the Rock lol.I also have to thank Juliet our maid she was amazing our room was perfectly cleaned up everyday for us and decorated with some beautiful towel art ,I always looked forward to the end of my beach day to see what was waiting for us . Memories you have some amazing staff working at your resort .We really don't have nothing bad to say about this place we will be back it's amazing .Food was plentiful and never went Hungary that's for sure .The la cartes were wonderful and delicious.I would recommend this to anyone and I will .So please if you have a chance to go do not listen to the bad reviews .You will not be disappointed.
