Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Ok

Grounds are great. The people work hard. Few days we experienced no water in the morning and later in the evening which was a pain. Room was cleaned well everyday with fresh towels. Food was ok. A la carte was good. No beach which we never knew about until we arrived. Beach washed away last year with hurricane Matthew but another beach up the road.

The staff were really great. The food was adequate - a little more effort would have gone a long way to making it very good. The room was spacious but tired looking and in need of some TLC. It certainly was ok. They lost some beach since last year but there was still lots so walking the beach was great. The swimming was great in the pool and ocean. I would return again but before I committed I would google earth to make sure the beach was still there - Sol Pelicano has NO beach now and I was shocked.

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Playa Blanca but no playa

This is a spacious resort with large open common areas and friendly ,curteous and attentive staff. (Esp. Carlos at the front desk)AC was working,we had no water issues till the last day when it was off for 12hrs, our room was a good size with a good bed, new flatscreen TV, working safe and hair dryer but poor lighting in Bathroom.There are no radios, alarm clocks or coffee makers in the rooms but the coffee downstairs is great. HOWEVER: There is no longer a beach at Playa Blanca due to high winds,waves and erosion.The nearest beach is a 10min walk and is clothing optional. Many of the beaches along this coast appear to be at risk.The resort provides free train service and transfer by boat to Sirena beach which is beautiful. You can also take a cab (availability varies) for 2CUC to Paraiso(great for little ones) or Sirena. FURTHER: The food is what you expect in Cuba. Mediocre and never at the appropriate temperature. Very little in way of fresh vegetables,no bacon, no ice cream.Very repetative and generally boring except for our a la cartes.We did have amazing lobster on our optional sunset cruise. We did speak to a number of people who needed to change rooms for various deficiencies.This was readily facilitated.There are definite accessibility issues. There are no elevators in the main 3 storey building and the handicapped washrooms are poorly designed. There continues to be room for improvement. That all being said, we tend to be fairly easy to please and we did have a lovely week with great weather and great people.

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Love Cayo Largo

Well the resort is acceptable for Cuba but that's not the reason to come here. This trip is about pristine beaches, amazing sun, sand and fun. The beaches offer something for everyone from waves to calm waters, snorkelling to long walks. It's a place you can turn off the outside world and just enjoy the sounds, the warmth and your partner all day long. If you need a place that's get rid of the daily distractions than Cayo Largo is the place for you.

Memories Cayo Largo: Good Resort.

Grounds and beach were beautiful! The food was simple but good.They have a barbque every day by the beach and the view from the restaurant is beautiful. Room was nice and comfortable. The pool was really nice. They also have a great Cuban house band.

Villa Natura: Rough

I blame Gran Caribe for opening this hotel too early! It is very rough and unfinished. I would rate this place 2 stars, with the exception of the bar staff. They are 5 star people! I have never seen such a bunch of loving people in all my years of traveling on the cheap! If you go to this resort don't expect much and you won't be let down! Take the time to say hi to the bar staff and you won't be disappointed. They alone save this place.

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: It's ok

We stayed here January 12-19. It was newly renovated from what we heard and just opened back up. The grounds are nice, rooms are clean. The beach at the resort was washed out due to the weather and high winds. We got lucky with great weather but apparently the week before was not so Great. Probably the most beautiful beach I've ever seen! Food was ok... Great omelettes for breakfast and pasta and pizza at dinner was good! Our friend did get sick for a day and a half not sure what from. The beds are super hard and not comfortable. You don't go to Cuba for the food or accommodations... You go for the sunshine beaches and the people! All in all we enjoyed our stay. It is a small island with not much to do and the guests at the hotel are mostly older from Quebec and Italy. The disco at the Marina was fun.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Beautiful resort

Beautiful hotel ,very clean friendly stuff . Most beautiful beach ever you have to visit playa sirena . Sand feels like icing sugar . Good selections of food and amazing bbq everyday by the pool . Bartenders are amazing .

Memories Cayo Largo: Sol Cayo Largo-A very nice resort!

Grounds were kept beautifully and was pretty lush considering the locale. Room was spacious and bright and the bed was firm but comfortable. Those over-wide pillows took a bit of getting used to. Washroom was a little run down, but I had no issues with the water pressure and the hot water was always available. Others had issue with pressure, but I lucked out. I was far enough away from the activity and my window faced towards the ocean, so didn't have any issues with the noise level [... read more] that some of the other people had who were closer to the main stage/bar and faced that way. The beach is beautiful and the sand was fine and white. We had a bit too much wind so the red flag was up almost everyday and swimming or snorkling from the beach was not in our cards, but playing in the surf and walking the beach was amazing. Only thing to be aware of is that there is a clothing-optional end of the beach where you may not want to take your kids. You can walk from one end to the other passing (and going into) the other resorts. The pool was cool, but once you get it, it was very refreshing and was super clean. Always tons of loungers both by the pool and at the beach so you don't have to send your husbands out too early to stake out the seats. The main bar was our hub where we met for coffee (best I've had in Cuba) and drinks before deciding where to next. The bartenders were super friendly and efficient!! Don't know how they do it. Never had to wait too long for a drink or two or three..... Food was quite good but pretty much the same each day with the exception of the main courses. There was lots of great fish grilled fresh to order and the cheese selection at dinner was really great! Their soup was always good so go for it. The lunch BBQ line up was a bit slow and often they ran out of chicken quickly, but worth the wait. Send your spouse and order for 2. The snack bar had the best drinks and those pork sandwiches...yum! Of course the fries are a must. I said I would only have it ones, but I managed to break that promise time and time again. We did the ala-carte twice. Once at the beach restaurant which was really good, and once at Las Trinas, which was okay. I would have preferred the buffet to Las Trinas, I enjoyed the atmosphere but the food wasn't that great. The massage at the spa was the real deal. You can ask for "hard" and they give you one exactly as you would get in Canada from a trained masseuse. They had all the right techniques and well worth the 25 cuc. We had 2 each. As usual, the staff was incredibly friendly and very helpful and engaging. We took the Super Reef Excursion and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The second reef was definitely better than the morning reef, so don't skip it. Lobster was delish. All in all, even though we didn't get to do much swimming at the beach, we had a great time and would definitely recommend this resort.

Hotel is well maintained. Shows age with class. Delicious food warm friendly staff and moments spent with animation team that won't be forgotten in our life times. Wow factor beaches. Will definitely return.

Memories Cayo Largo: It was OK.

The hotel itself was nice. Problems with water in the rooms, showers sometimes had no water and toilets not flushing. Food was good and lots of it if you weren't too fussy. Our travel rep was never available at the times she indicated she would be so we constantly had to track her down. Beaches are beautiful. Our one snorkeling excursion was wonderful, lobster lunch was delicious. Hotel grounds were nice. Hotel staff in restaurants and bars were very friendly and helpful. Villa Natura: Amazing how they treat you.

Hi Tammy As I am writing this; both me and my wife are still very sick. I am finding any and every site I can leave the following feedback. ……………………………………………………………. Someone is getting paid big bucks to promote Villa Iguana ; Truth is; besides the beaches and the warm weather Villa Iguana is a smelly place to stay; FACT: they turn the water off every night; “and so because of the rancid food,” you wake every morning with a toilet full o [... read more]f diarrhea and no way to flush it away, FACT; This place is under constant construction. there is a narrow road in front of your bungalow that construction trucks must use at all hours of the day and night. Try taking a nap; with dump trucks and hammering of nails. FACT; They seem to have no plumbing code; "no goose neck" in the drain pipes means you smell hints of a septic system all the time. FACT; My bathroom sink and bath tub would flood the floor every time you used the sink or tub. Fixed the sink myself. All 5 couples reported bathtubs installed wrong. FACT; they imply you are getting a bungalow but in fact each bungalow has 4 small hotel rooms in it . YOU get one room and the walls are paper thin with no sound proofing.> not very romantic. FACT; They say "all inclusive" ( another LIE ) I usually do all the tipping when me and my wife go out. .my wife and I spent most of our resort time together, >except for 3 times bring collapsible pails to flush the toilet in the morning using "a pail of pool water", bring anti-diarrhea medicine .. u will need it. bring ear plugs for sleeping > constant construction noise. ( if your are handy > bring your own plumbing tools ) ……………………………………….. ADD for Tripcentral; the flight was delayed 5 hours and we had to sleep of a cold cuban tile floor, in the airport custom area. Speaking with a frequent flyer to cayo largo, we found out that she had to do this in all 14 times she visited Cayo largo > the flight is always late and they will not land in Toronto between 2 AM and 6:30 AM to avoid an international charge > this should of been told to us by any competent travel agent, as it was a common practice. Tammy Please don’t say anything LIKE > your sorry this happen. This is why you select a knowledgeable travel agent > to avoid flushing money down the drain. PS: but we had to wait till we were back in Canada > because they don’t give you water a villa iguana to flush with.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Don't think we will be back at this resort.

This has been our 2nd time at this resort. We thought their may have been a few perks as a repeat customer but no, their was nothing. We found a few changes that wasn't for the better: 1- they had a safe deposit box in the room but you had to pay 2 pesos to have access to it. 2- nothing after supper in terms of entertainment and have to wait until 10 for any entertainment to start, by that time we are tired and ready to go to bed.

Memories Cayo Largo: A relaxing vacation

Sol cayo Largo is a great value if you're looking for a quiet spot on a stunning beach. The rooms although dated offer everything you need and service is top notch. A quick bus ride or a rented scooter will take you to two different beaches which are among the best in the world. The food is "Cuban"....you won't go hungry but again it's Cuba.

Was very happy with Sol Cayo Largo. Food was pretty good (by Cuban standards), rooms were comfortable and the beach is stunning. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Music/bands were wonderful. Very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend particularly for mature crowd (40+).

The resort and beach area are amazing. If you love walking on a beach, this is the place to go - the beach never ends and easy to walk. The room and view from the balcony were wonderful. The restaurants and food selections are the best I have experienced in Cuba, and all the staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend this resort for those interested in an adult focused vacation.

This was a great vacation the rooms clean but the beds very hard, the food was as good as we have experienced in Cuban resorts, the staff was hard working and very attentive to our every need. The first day we had no water pressure but that was repair by the next day. the pools were clean and well taken care of and the ground were as well. Memories Cayo Largo: Amazing Beach

The rooms, as per other reviews I have read are a little dated. The room service was excellent. Water and beverages replenished daily. The food at the buffet was okay. Grilled fish and omelet bar were very good. The restaurant located by the beach was very good at lunch. The service and food at dinner was sub par. We had an ocean view room.
