Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Great Resort

We loved this medium sized resort, the location was wonderful. All of the hotel service staff were amazing! We did have a hurricane warning while we there, was wishing the stafff would have been more informative to the guests on where to go and what to do.

Riu Flamingos: RIU Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta

RIU Jalisco is a nice resort. The decor is a bit dated for RIU standards. It will be undergoing a major 4 month renovation starting in August. We stayed for two weeks from Jan 3 - Jan 17. Check in was fast and easy. The staff are very friendly and helpful although not all speak English. The rooms are a decent size with two twin beds. Each room has a safe, mini bar and a mini fridge. We had a balcony but the noise from a nearby air conditioning unit took away any enjoyment. The food was very good with plenty of choices. The fried pork and beef could be a bit tough but there was plenty of fish choices. If you like steaks you may be disappointed. The main dining room was large and not busy if you go for the early sitting. There were three ala cart restaurants but we didn't bother with them. The beach restaurant is open so black birds fly in waiting to pounce on waste food. That was a bit annoying. There is a hamburger bar on the beach which was very popular. Apparently the hamburgers are fantastic. They serve about 300 hamburgers and 100 hot dogs daily.You can go for lunch at the nearby RIU Vallarta for a change of scenery. The beach is large and safe for children. At low tide (afternoon) the water goes out almost 100 feet which makes it great for walking. There are many beach lounges but they get reserved fast. So get there before 8am. There are many coconut trees for shade. There is a nice road in front of the resort with a pedestrian walkway in the middle. We saw many roller blading and cyclists using it. Very pleasant for walking after dinner. We walked into Bucerias (45-60 minutes each way) twice during our stay. There is plenty of entertainment. It has a children's play pool and three other adult pools. The towel exchange is good with plenty of fresh towels. The sports bar is open 24 hours and has plenty of TVs, a pool table and two PCs for guests to use. They serve sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs. I didn't try any. The cappuccino is good. Overall, it is a nice resort, excellent food, nice staff, free site-wide WiFi. Not the most modern but well worth a visit. It may not be to everyone's taste, but for me, it was fine. I would return.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: It’s an okay place to stay

the Decameron Los Cocos in Guayabitos is an older hotel that appears to be under renovation. the rooms are old but clean and ours was freshly painted. staff were pleasant but had little english when we had requests or to ask questions. Breakfast omelettes are amazing as is the chef! She was delightful, singing and dancing! The rest of the food is okay but not a lot of flavour and not very hot. Beach is great but very busy! Hard to find chairs unless you wake up very early. Lots of vendor [... read more]s. Pools ok but limited time in the sun

Vamar Vallarta: Has potential but not that great, i'd recommend to spend a bit more and get a better resort

Rating: 2.5/5 I recently stayed at this resort for 7 days, and unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. Here’s a breakdown of my stay: Entertainment: The entertainment was disappointing. They only showed three different shows during the entire week, repeatedly playing the same ones. For example, the Thursday show was a repeat of Monday’s. The quality of the shows was poor, with little talent on display—just girls in skimpy outfits showcasing their bodies. There was no entertainment [... read more] at the pools either, which made the overall vibe dull. Staff & Customer Service: The staff was not particularly friendly or accommodating. My experience with the receptionist was frustrating. The resort provides old, damaged room cards. One of mine cracked when I kept it in my pocket, and they demanded I pay 200 pesos ($20 CAD). When I refused and asked for my luggage, they made it difficult, so I had to take matters into my own hands. Customer service was definitely lacking. Food: The food selection was limited, though the taste was pretty good. One day, they served a steak, and it was excellent. However, aside from that, the food overall was average—I'd rate it a 2.5/5. It wasn’t bad, but nothing stood out as exceptional. Resort Management: There was no information provided about activities or their timings, which made it hard to plan the day. With better management and organization, this resort has potential, but it’s currently far from being a great destination. Also you can't go in the beach (there is crocodiles and wild animals and so there's no beach chairs to even view the beach). After 10PM everything dies down as there's no entertainment such as a night club or no activities whatsoever.. after 10PM there's only a snack bar that serves only Hamburgers and Hot Dogs (no French fries or anything else)... The room doesn't even have a balcony and it's so small and outdated! Overall Experience: I’ve been to over 20 resorts, and this one ranks among the worst. I’ve even had more fun at the worst resort I visited in Cuba, which speaks volumes about this place. While the food taste was decent, everything else—from entertainment to service—left much to be desired. I wouldn’t recommend this resort unless significant improvements are made in management, staff training, and entertainment offerings.

Crown Paradise Golden: Worst place I have ever visited. Would not recommend.

This place is run down. Starting for the door staff being not polite or helpful at all. Once we got our room, we started realizing the terrible mistake booking this place was. Room reeked of mold and was not cleaned well. Half the place was broken down, pool had no heating, coffee machines were broken, elevator would go to our floor on first try. There was no safe, it had to be requested. Entertainment was not good, sounds was horrible. Pool was always blasting techno music from 8AM (many rooms  [... read more]have a view to the pool so It gets loud in them). Restaurants had really bad tasting food. Gym had bunch of machines broken. Room service was extra charged (this was an all inclusive booking). One good thing was that many people from the staff were very kind and helpful. City is great to explore.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: last trip to the Hacienda

the resort is well kept, the staff are fabulous, the food every meal was cold , cold scrambled eggs , cold roasted potatoes . better like hotdogs . this has been my go to location for every vacation opportunity since 1999, approximately7 times . I am self-employed and can not vacation on a regular basis. when I do it has always be the Hacienda. sad to say that will be my last .

Riu Flamingos: Amazing resort and fun place to relax with your family

Both the swimming pools were really nice, resort was really close to the beach so not a lot of walking. Also attended the riu party which was really fun. Overall a great resort. The service and the staff were really nice

The resort is so perfect, especially the pool and the beach are my favourite part. Also, the entertainment is amazing, my friends and I enjoyed it so much. Therefore, the room also is so clean and comfortable.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Clean friendly resort

The grounds are very well kept with maintenance crews always around. Every morning crew was out raking lawns picking up leaves. Pool areas were washed down every night when pools closed. Bathrooms were cleaned through out the day many times. Few toilets had no seat. Wifi in all common areas. Had to be on balcony to get it at room (block2)

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Best location All inclusive in Bucerias

We just arrived home from an unforgettable time at the Royal Decameron in Bucerias. It had the right vibe for us, it was not pretentious but absolutely offered what we needed in order to relax and completely enjoy our stay. The rooms and grounds are meticulously kept, and the staff are amazing. The food was very good at the restaurants, and completely decent (at times very good) at the buffets, we did not encounter any stomach issues at all throughout the trip. We stayed in block 5, which is gre [... read more]at if you want a more quiet setting. The italian restaurant piccolos was the best that we tried on the resort. The shows were entertaining, and the nightclub had it's moments (dead some of the time but occasionally bumping on the dancefloor). The beach is clean, the waves are a good size to play in, and the hotel offers kayaking and paddleboarding. There were just enough chairs for people on the beach, depending on the time of day. There were lots of vendors coming to sell wares at the beach, but they were okay (just be aware). Notable - this is not the most expensive/fancy resort but it has the best location and vibe for enjoying the town of bucerias. The hotel intersects a main road which leads into bucerias and along the way you will find dozens of nice restaurants, live music, art, a market, and a very hip scene for travellers to check out. 3 blocks up the hill from the hotel is the mexican big box store called Chedrauis and you can pick up anything you need there for fair prices, as well as a bank across the road to exchange and get change for tips. We noticed that the other guests had floaty mattresses that they would put onto the loungers to give them more cushioning - they were after all hard plastic (clean though) - you may want to buy one of these or if you're lucky someone leaving may give you theirs when they go. If you're looking for the best burger in bucerias its a 15 minute walk to a place called the Burguer Lab - its a hole in the wall, but the best burger, brought a tear to our eyes. Kensho was another nearby restaurant which we loved, they had an excellent pad thai and mussels. Many excellent choices for whatever cuisine you'd like, within walking distance. We were able to relax and rejeuvenate at the resort, we were treated well, we ate well and really enjoyed the proximity to the action in bucerias. Next time we will stay for 10 to 14 days as 7 was not enough. Thanks to everyone at the Decameron! Hasta luego

Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit: Nice but needs some work

The resort in general was clean. The staff were fantastic!! Drinks were always made fast and staff remembered you. Hotel in great location. Food choices were OK, always very hot and plentiful. Repetative throughout the week. I would say overall food was 6/10. A La carte were great but very very hard to get into. Always “booked” but empty when you went. Kids had no problem finding lots to eat. Issue was there was no snacks or restaurants open at different parts of day, no food or drinks near the [... read more] pool. No food at all brought outside the restaurant. Kids could have used some afternoon snacks. The rooms needed some TLC. Our glass shower door was hanging on by one loose screw, did not close and leaked our sink faucets were not attached and leaked as well. Towels were always minimal even pool towels were difficult to get some days. Staff very strict about kids playing in the pool even though it was empty. Not able to sit with feet in water and have a drink. Beach was nice. Busy and times but overall great for waves and some creatures.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Great Time!

This was our 4th visit to this hotel. We spent 2 weeks at the Krystal Grand in November, 2024. We chose that date so we could take part in the Day of the Dead festivities and they did not disappoint! We had a really good experience from check in to restaurants. At check in, Lucero was super helpful in having our room changed to a room with 2 double beds. And the front desk manager, Luci was also very helpful. We really enjoy the buffet here. We are always able to find lots of choices  [... read more]and foods that we like. I love the breakfasts: omelettes and eggs made to order and a great selection of side dishes. A special shout out to Miguel and Fernando who always made sure we were well looked after. The soups at lunch are wonderful! We highly recommend them. Also, the Mexican night tacos were excellent. Our favourite a la carte restaurant was the French. Very good. Our only complaint would be that the beach needs more chairs and umbrellas so that we wouldn't have to go down at 7 am. Overall, we had a lovely trip and, in fact, we enjoyed it so much we're going back in February!

Crown Paradise Club: Family Resort

Older resort, a little worn but clean The softess bed ever in Mexico. Buffet is adequate though not inspired. Specialty restaurants had nice selections with excellent service. Definitely a hotel suited for young children with child section containing safe pool, pirate ship and waterslides that truly appeals to children. Recommend for family with younger children.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Happy with our stay

Well, given negative reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about this resort - but overall, we had a very good experience. I write this review having vacationed at Riu, Melia, Barcelo, Grand Palladium and Iberostar resorts. Here's the good and the bad for Krystal Grand in Nuevo Vallarta. The buffet area in the cafeteria appeared small at first, but this was misleading - the quantity and choice of the food that was offered was great (including for vegetarians). Unlike many other resorts, it was [... read more] kept hot! We enjoyed our meals there. We also found the food tasty in the two of the three on-site restaurants that we tried. The seating for the cafeteria faced the ocean, which made for beautiful views during our meals. With only a couple minor exceptions (mainly around the adult pool), we found the service at this resort excellent, especially at the buffet and restaurants. The beach does not have any trees, but is sandy and very swimmable, with a long shallow stretch before reaching deeper waters. The beds were comfortable, fridge was kept stocked, and our room was quiet despite being close to the lobby and foot traffic. The music around the adult pool was not too loud. The hotel is located an easy 30 minute walk from Bucerias, with its market (where you can book tours for cheaper than in the hotel) and restaurants. A short distance from town, the dog rescue called A Dog's New Life, which you can visit (they can pick you up in town) The hotel put together a fantastic New Year's eve celebration, with a beautiful dinner followed by a dance party. On the flip side, too many people reserved too many chairs (often unused for several hours), which made finding pool/beach seating difficult. On our last day there, we saw that the hotel was finally making more seating available by removing towels left unattended for too long. The Wifi in the resort is very poor. We had none whatsoever in our first room (we moved and had Wifi when closer to the lobby). Non-existent wifi at the adult pool. The rooftop bar isn't attractive. Too little seating, and what's there isn't comfortable. Given the spectacular views, it would make sense for the hotel to create a more inviting atmosphere. Overall, a very pleasant vacation and we would recommend this resort.

Secrets Vallarta Bay: Great food, great service

My wife, my 20 something daughter, her boyfriend and I stayed at secrets the week before Christmas 2024. The service was great at the market cafe and all of the specialty restaurants. The food was also terrific. Our room and the hotel was clean and I felt the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time. I did encounter some guests that were not as pleased as us, but I find staff is great if you treat them with respect and appreciation.

Riu Palace Pacifico: Very nice resort

Grounds and Room were extremely nice Overall, the Food was very good, with a few exceptions The pool areas and staff service were extremely nice The shows were very entertaining and fun to watch The gym needed a reno as there were no towels, water, etc. The ocean at this resort was very rough and not swimmable, but the beach was lovely The exchange privleges with the other Riu's were fun, especially the White Party Overall - an excellent vacation

Grand Palladium Vallarta: 3rd time, not a charm

This was my 3rd stay at GP in PV. Upon arrival, we had to haul our bags to the desk, and then were told we had to share a bed because it was "full" so they wouldn't accommodate our request of 2 beds. (2 mature females) unless we would pay another $400CAD to upgrade-even though our travel agent said we would definitely get 2 beds- that is the ONLY reason we chose this resort and not one in town! Then, I guess because I'd been there before, we had to navigate & bring our own suitcases and bags t [... read more]o the room. My cousin is almost 70 and has bad knees, so this was NOT inviting. After 3 days of not the greatest sleep, I didn't tell my cousin, but I paid hundreds of dollars to downgrade our room just so we could get 2 beds. They used to have a zoo- it is no longer there (disappointing). The coffee that used to be great is very hit and miss whether their new machines work, and the carafe is gross coffee. The membership pitch I did (just for the palladium dollars to use at the spa) the guy was sick and kept wiping his nose and picking it the entire time. It was disgusting. the food is very good, the adult pool is nice but very warm (main pool is freezing!), most the staff is great- a few ignored us no matter how long we waited in line if there was locals they would prefer to serve. The walkway is VERY slippery and was often wet because the sprinklers were broken or pointed the wrong way. It is beautiful resort if this is your first trip and wanting to be far away from the city. All in all, not as memorable as the last 2 times I was there, and personally I would not return. It was outrageous I had to pay hundreds to get a 2nd bed that we were already promised we paid thousands for to begin with. Money talks. Even if they're 'full'.

Decameron Isla Coral: Mexican getaway

It was exactly as we have come to expect from the Decameron hotels in Rincon. A very Mexican establishment and geared to holidaymakers from Mexico. We’ve always found the staff to always be very friendly, polite and helpful. The beach stretches for miles and is full of families coming down to the coast to enjoy the seaside. It is not your typical resort geared to Canadian travellers but more to Mexican holidaymakers.

Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Great Moments: Very Good Resort

This resort was in the older part of town on the water and close to the boardwalk at the centre of the city. Great location. It wasn't too large. The food was good. The staff worked really hard to take care of us really well. It was not fancy and high end luxury hotelling. I don't care for that, myself, as I want to be more in a local environment when I travel and not in some "first world luxory" that is unsustainable. The staff was very friendly and we tipped.... a lot. These people do not m [... read more]ake a lot of money. It was all inclusive, but we still left money on the table at each meal and tipped really good service. I would use the hotel again if I went back.

Samba Vallarta: Great experience

So, the hotel is quite old and dated. But you can tell they are doing everything they can to keep it fresh. They were paining inside and out when we were there Over Christmas. The property is very small, huge pool and great kids slides. The staff are absolutely incredible. You can tell they like to work there, everyone was so friendly amongst them. Beach is perfect...no snorkeling though as it's too rough. Food is excellent and we had one vegetarian with us and she always ate well. Would recommend!
