Divi Little Bay Beach Resort: Great resort

Loved the resort ,clean,great views, nice pools (small) relaxing not too busy which we really liked. 20 min walk to town would be a problem if you had mobility issues. Great views of the cruise ships We would stay again

Sonesta Maho Beach: Great beach, beautiful island!

We stayed at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. We enjoyed all the action watching the planes come and go. The food was good. It lacked some variety in food, but we always found something to eat. Heineken in a can was great! The pool was a funky shade of green, but we preferred the always available chairs at the beach. It was fun being right in the action of Maho Village. The rooms were clean, good mattress

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: It is the best Hotel and Staff

it is one of the best hotels I've stayed at a little rustic then I'm used to but the Island is wonderful and the staff at the Hotel are beyond wonderful they are is great to the tourist everyone is like family I travel alone so that is important to me Just GREAT

Sonesta Maho Beach: Loved Every Moment!

The resort was clean and well laid out. It had all the amenities anyone could wish for. Huge pool, great bar service, oceanfront dining. Accessible as my husband has mobility issues, so where he couldn't get to, he was shuttled around at no charge. Staff very friendly, champagne in the lobby every day and at the oceanfront dining facility! Lots of fun poolside activities. Our room was fantastic with a gorgeous panoramic ocean, aircraft view, amazing!

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Amazing Resort

Was here approx. 15 years ago. Disappointed with it then but it has improved greatly and loved it. Wonderfull to watch cruise ships come and go. Location to the beach and Philipsburg was a definite plus!

La Plantation: Quite and simple vacation

La Plantation is a small and simple resort on Orient Bay. It is minimalist in terms of accommodation but clean and quite. We stayed in one of the upper level studios which has a beautiful view of the sea. Our stay included breakfast, which consists of scrambled eggs, fruit, cold cereal, toast, cheese, cold cuts, coffee, tea, juice, yogurt and applesauce. There is a small village with a grocery store - not too pricey depending on what you buy. There are a number of restaurants, a bakery and couple of clothing shops. If you're looking for a quite, restful, relaxing vacation and a simple resort this is perfect. There are no activities on the resort, so you have to make your own entertainment. Also if you're not physically fit ask for accommodation closer to the reception area or get a car. Overall I enjoyed my vacation as just wanted to sit on the beach, eat delicious meals and have some relaxing times. The kitchen could have been a little more well equipped, a kettle, salad bowl, and smaller pots with covers.

La Plantation: Nice place

The hotel complex is beautiful, well kept and cleaned. The rooms are cleaned efficiently and regularly at predictable times. The studio room could do with an additional sofa. The cover for the sofa that was there was not the cleanest. Could be better insulation between rooms. Amorous couple next door a distraction.

Palace St. Martin: Very nice resort

Really enjoyed this resort small, clean, staff was very nice except for the reception not smiling made you feel like you are bothering them, food was excellent room spacious and clean, nice beach, entertainment needs a bit of fine tooning

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Good value for $$

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Sonesta Great Bay. The facilities are very nice, staff is friendly and work very hard to make sure your stay is wonderful. The beach is lovely, and the infinity pool is just heavenly. A few negatives: no organized morning exersize type classes, although they were listed on the board, they never actually took place, no water sports (windsurfing, Hoby Cat small catamarans, water skiing etc.) and long line ups to eat at the buffet. Sonesta Maho Beach: Good food

Buffet was great but service was slow and many not-so-friendly staff. The rooms were outdated but comfortable beds. DrInks and bar staff by the pool were excellent. Beach was really nice. Entertainment at night was not so great except for one MC who brought energy to the show. Sunning flights delayed by 3 hours which was very disappointing since we woke our kids up at 3 a.m and the flight only left after 9a.m.

Sonesta Ocean Point Resort: Will be an Amaxing Resort

The views from the pool are picturesque. Watched the planes come in all day long in amazement. We had a swim out which was a bonus. Since the rooms are new, they were modern and very clean. The staff was friendly. Believe that this hotel will be great when all is completed which will probably not be for months.

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: "Not as advertised"

Although this hotel had great food, we were less than satisfied by the lack of concern or care by most of the staff. It seemed as if it was a huge burden on them if you had a special request. We booked well in advance, requesting a room with ocean view and higher than ground level and with a king bed. We got the ground floor and was told that their facility had no king beds. (their listing shows king rooms). We got a rolling of the eyes and bad attitude from both of the front desk clerks. After  [... read more]a little attitude of my own, they finally gave us a second level on the timeshare side of the complex with a large double bed only. They had no tennis courts either, as advertised. The entertainment was light and not overdone. For us, that was ok .We danced most evenings to whatever they played. During our stay, someone had placed some dishes in a hallway. They were not cleared away for several days. The room was clean and maintained well by the chambermaid. Overall... Average.

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Amazing Staff,dated rooms and so.so food

Rated 4 star for location,more like a 3 star for rooms and food,staff was fantastic,maybe pricing itself out of our range.This is our 2nd year at Sonesta Great Bay but maybe too pricey in 2015 .Please try to keep the price reasonable.

Palace St. Martin: quite resort

the hotel should be fully functional now with 3 speciality restaruarnt. rooms are very quite. staff is excellent. excellent beach. french side seems to deal all in us dollars. they have a full stock of any kind of drinks/alcohol

Palace St. Martin: Great resort....

We were very impressed with the hotel, but especially the staff. So, friendly, and go out of their way to please. Great beach,and pool area was also wonderful. Clean, and tidy and easy to find a place there. The only thing that I feel would make this better is if they had more entertainment that was not in the lobby, as there is not enough seating for everyone to sit and enjoy. Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: staff and resort was good however

i did not like waiting at the buffet for dinner lunch or breakfast.. ive been going there for 15 yrs and it was never like that or at least not as bad . i do understand that with the new renovations going on at the other building that we have to wait now because the dinning area is closed ...still i dont like the wait ..not at a buffet.

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Another great trip to St. Marten

Although we were booked for our 13th trip to Sonesta Great Bay we could not stay there as the hotel was damaged by a hurricane a week before we were to travel. We were then booked into the New Riu Palace. on the French side of the island. The hotel in total was very nice and although still under renovations and opened 2 weeks early to accommodate the displaced Great Bay guests all was really good. The rooms were nice, beds comfortable, nice bathrooms beautiful beach and pool. All the staff were  [... read more]great and the food was delicious, plentiful and well prepared even thought we only had buffet for the week as the other resturantes were not yet opened. Our compliments to all the staff... great job. The only issue we have with this resort is it is isolated and transportation into Phillipsburg on the Dutch side for shopping or to Marigot on the French side by taxi can be expensive. ( best taxi driver is Albert Rogers, just have the front desk call him a great guy ) We did suggest to Riu that a free daily shuttle to either town would really sell this hotel. Sonesta Maho Beach: Great Location

This hotel needs to be renovated in some areas. Overall the rooms were clean and the resort was nice. The main pool needs some work (fix or replace the liner). The other pool was under renovations and so was a couple of restaurants, so that limited your options of where you could dine.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Good place

This hotel offers quite good service. During our stay big section of the facility was going through significant renovation, so better days will most likely come there soon. The room was decent and kept clean. Depending on your luck, you may get a room from a nice inner courtyard side (with swimming pool or beach view), or you may get a "dark side" placement (with very noisy massive central air conditioner and non-maintained back of the building grounds). Hotel personnel were quite friendly and helpful in general, but our several requests for room change were always pushed to the next day. It wasn't the end of the world, since in that wonderful warm climate you spend most of your life outdoors (not in the room), but that part could have been nicer. Another thing that was surprising is that all people were kicked out from under beach umbrellas before 6PM (they were locking chairs and umbrellas away; that never happened to us in any other country). You could still remain on the beach, but only on sand. The food choice in several restaurants was decent, but I expected a bit more selection of fruits - I guess it's limited because nothing grows on St. Maarten (due to very poor soil). Absolutely everything must be transported to this island, except for fish (and those were very good). If you enjoy watching air planes landing or taking off, then this is the best place in the world to do that. The small beach (compared to Mexican or Cuban standards) adjacent to that hotel is just beside the runway. You can sun tan, sip very tasty margarita (all served drinks were really good) and admire 747 "monster" tight-fit landing into this small bay almost on top of you (if you wish to place yourself on the approach patch). For that reason alone, this hotel is worth visiting at least once in your life. But if you are looking just for beach life, then you can do it for cheaper in Mexico.
