Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing for 5 star luxury

First impression... NO WOW FACTOR 1st day: check in was like herding cattle, took 1.5 hours to get to our room. 2nd day: asked for non alcoholic beverages. Entertainment meh. Food meh 3rd day: asked again for non alcoholic beverages, 3 different employees said they were on it right away. Served a bowl of potatoes from Steak restaurant, no steak available! Entertainment same as last night and 1st night. Resort workers go on strike!!!! Day 4: asked Sunwing rep to get non alcohol beverages.. [... read more]. I've been offered water and coffee. Food meh, I'm ready to go home!!! Room fridge has not been stocked in 3 days. Day 5: I'm not happy about being here, I spent $5000. for a 5 star, luxury stay. This place is horrible!! Day 6: guest service want to address my complaints... I leave tomorrow, too late for that Day 7: I will NEVER stay at another Royalton Resort or travel Sunwing Vacations

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Staff Made Our Stay

We have stayed at a Royalton in St. Lucia pre Covid. It was excellent. We had swim up pool and butler. We never saw our butler and thought we only saw him/her when we needed. The Royalton Antigua opened our eyes wide as to what the service really is. Paul & Matara were outstanding. Exceptional service. Kind and warm individuals. The hotel does need repairs. It’s looking weathered. The food was either excellent or extremely disappointing. We feel if more care was taken in the quality and taste of [... read more] the food, far less would be wasted. We loved a couple of dishes at Grazie but the sides were cold and the pasta dish that I was to have a variety of seafood only had 2 dime sized pieces of unknown seafood. That was after 2 hours waiting. We ended up at the buffet as we were incredibly hungry by that point. The staff on the entire facility were what made our stay. Remembering what we drank, kindly offering great service and doing it what felt to be sincerely. We don’t frequent the same island or do the same vacations repeatedly. This will be no exception. We will always tell people that Antigua is our favourite island thus far.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Don’t go here. Stay home and throw your money in the fireplace

On Nov 28th 2024 I traveled to the Royalton Riviera Cancun, party of seven. When we arrived, we were not offered a welcome drink in the lobby. We found our way to the Diamond club Reception and were checked in. My daughter did not get her room until around four. I was told that our room was facing the pool and partial ocean view. When I went to the room it was facing the mangrove. I returned back to the reception and the person that checked us in was not there. I was told that they made a [... read more] mistake and it was not what I was told and they said sorry. The reception gave us no information about our butler, I had to find out from someone around the pool who finally found our butler, Alphonso. He said any problems please contact him. Also Angelica was our other butler. This room was in really poor condition and not what I expected of a 5 star resort. Bedding was stained, see picture, no free slippers and bag as promised, no liquor stocked. It was more like a 3 star resort. This Presidential suite was clearly not 1286sq ft that I had paid for and advertised by Sunwing. It was around 900 sq ft. The Oder of raw sewage and the smell of perfume they were spraying to try and cover the smell of sewage was so bad that that it triggered an asthma attack. My asthma attack was so bad that at 4 am I had to go to the front reception and tell them that if something is not done, I will end up in the hospital. They seemed to be concerned and said they would speak to the manager. He came back and said they would give me a room for the night, which they did, only problem was that this room was under the room we were in and also had the same issues. also they would switch my room the next day but the request had to go over to the diamond club manager. Nov 29th I contacted my butler Angelica and she assured me my room would be switched today. She said she understood that I was having an asthma attack because of the air conditions. I attended the Diamond club reception and they said I could not be moved until the next day and I would have to spend another night in the room I was in. I have included a screen shot of the conversation with Angelica in which she said I was being given the new room because of my MEDICAL condition. She said to have my bags ready for the next day at 12 noon and they would be picked up by the bellhop and delivered to the new room. Nov 30th 3pm I had not heard anything and had been in contact with the Angelica and she had no news. I attended the diamond club reception and spoke with David and he said that my request for a room change was because I wanted to be closer to my daughter. I explained that I was being moved because of the sewage gas smell and it was because of a medical condition this was causing me. He told me that I couldn’t have a room move and check back tomorrow. I protested and he went to speak to a manger upstairs. He came down and said they had a room change for me. He told me that the room was facing the pool and Oceanside. I went to see where the room was and lo and behold it was a room facing the mangrove with the same sewage gas smell. I went back to the diamond club and told David and he said oh he told me that was the room they had and he told me he said it was facing the mangrove, he outright lied to my face. I was pissed off and said is that the manger upstairs and he replied yes. I started up the stairs and David said you can’t go up there. I replied watch me. I went up the stairs and spoke to the manager ENRIQUE. He said David gave me the the wrong room number, someone typed the wrong number in and the room I was getting the room that faced the pool and was Oceanside. When I was retrieving my luggage in my daughter’s room Angelica and another person who said he was a manager, came in with a form to sign for the new room. I told them that I had to read it before I signed it. In reading the form it said that I would indemnify the resort and Sunwing from all liability and I would not post and negative feedback on social media etc etc.i told him that it was a legal document and I would not sign it. He said that it wasn’t a legal document and it was just so they could be reimbursed for the amount for the room change. I told him again I would not sign it. He said that if I didn’t sign it I would be charged the $500 usd for the room change. I told him I was already in the room. I told him to have Jose the diamond club manager come talk to me and I wasn’t signing. Jose came to see me and I explained I wasn’t signing the document because it was a legal document. He said it wasn’t a legal document and it was just so they could get the money for the room change. He also said I would be charged if I didn’t sign. I told him I was absolutely not signing because if I get hurt on the resort after I sign I would have no right to seek any legal recourse. He again said I need to sign. I told him no. He finally said he would have to get one of the resort workers to sign it so they could get reimbursed for the room change and he left. I did finally get into the room around 4pm but another whole day of my vacation was lost. This room had stains on the sheets, picture is included. There was nothing in the fridge, no liquor stocked, no blankets, patio doors could barely be opened, screens on patio doors were torn and bugs could get in, picture included, Fesses stains on the bathroom light switch cover, picture included, mould around the air conditioning vents, picture included. The air seemed better the first night but the second night it this room I started having problems with my breathing again because of the mould. I informed the diamond club and they said there was nothing they could do as they already moved my room. I suffered the last days of my vacation having breathing issues because of the mould in the ventilation system. This room size was also not what I was sold 1286sq ft, it was around 900 sq ft, pictures included of room measurement including the balcony, pictures included of my measurements. I had to request a microwave and it was brought eventually but I had to be in the room for it. They advertised 24 hour room service but when I went to order something I was told the buffet was opening soon and I had to go there. I had an issue with something biting me at night and found a blood stain that appeared to be a bed bug blood trail. They did have someone come in and they inspected and said it was a mosquito, pictures included. I did notice a lot of mattresses being removed from room son our floor because of bed bugs. I spoke to people that were staying on the resort that said they had bed bug bites and their rooms were changed because of this. Mosquitoes don’t leave blood trails so I question the results of the inspection. There were many other issues with this resort, unsanitary food handling conditions that included drink cups not being washed properly at all bars. My granddaughter was sick for two days throwing up because of this or some food that was bad.We were served raw hamburger at the beach food place numerous times. When we returned them and asked for cooked hamburgs the cook threw them on the counter. There were safety issues around the kids pool where children could have been seriously injured, picture included. Garbage was blowing all over the place because of lack of garbage pails on the resort. Service around the diamond club pool and beach was pretty much non existent. We ordered room service breakfast and it was all cold and disgusting and we could not eat it. The buffet food was all cold unless you had something Cooked. We requested salt and pepper shakers at the buffet table and were given a plate of it, picture included. My granddaughters were again served raw hamburgers at the steakhouse and we had to send it back. I was told that I could get Heineken and got it only the first day. They kept telling me to come back in 15 minutes and I never did see any the rest of the week. There was a shortage of ice all the time. There was an issue with spoons at the resort. They were locked up and the employees had to retrieve them in the morning. Had to bug the servers to get a spoon to stir our coffee. The coffee shop always ran out of stir sticks. The pool towels were bleach stained and old. Towel guy said management tells him to just flip them over and roll them up and hand them to people. Not what I expect out of a five star resort. In closing I must say this is the worst resort I have ever stayed at and it clearly is not a 5 star resort that Sunwing sold me and I paid a lot of money for. My party of 7 had numerous issues with this resort and were rudely treated by management. I dealt with all levels of management and finally found the contact information to go above their heads, picture enclosed. They would not give me the General manager Rodolfos email contact. I did contact Sunwing Mexico and their reply was the resort already compensated me with a room upgrade. It was not a room upgrade to me as I could not breath in this room also because of the mould condition. Also this room was smaller then what I was sold by Sunwing. I also spoke to Nexus at the resort and they were no help whatsoever and just said a Sunwing person would be in touch with me. I spoke to management about the room size and he showed me a picture of the rooms and said we had a large room. I asked him if he knew the room sizes and he said no. I explained that this is not the room size I paid for and he just shrugged it off.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Sub par Royalton

Having been to many Royalton resorts,we were disappointed with the Bavaro. The beach was fantastic. The staff were great. The food was not good at the restaurants. The main buffet was not open for lunch. The management of this Royalton did nothing to enhance our stay. Could not even find a hair dryer after 4 days of requesting. The manager at the Prime Travelers Club was someone who the words I want to use would be inappropriate. We will never return to this particular Royalton.

Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa: Great stay!

My husband and I booked our last minute honeymoon through trip central. We were very happy with the resort. The beach is beautiful and so still. We enjoyed all the dining aside from the Asian. The rooms are clean, a little damp but overall nice. The grounds are beautiful and maintained. We had a swim out, which was lovely, however, the first few days the water level seemed to be low. 2 days went by and the water levels seemed to be back up—which was good. T [... read more]his was nice and central, however, quite loud as it’s a main passage for guests heading to breakfast as well as employees arriving (employee parking lot located behind the building). If you’re looking to have an uninterrupted morning sleep consider a different building or not being on ground floor. Overall, great spot.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Met Expectations

We had a good trip, and the resort largely met our expectations given the price we paid. The beach was amazing, with beautiful sand, and the water was clear. The room was clean with a big bathroom, and had nice amenities such as AC, a minifridge, and AC. The food was passable; they seemed to do their best with limited ingredients. Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Good kid-friendly resort, for the pools not the beach

Generally the hotel was very clean, modern and had many amenities. The check in process was a bit disorganized and frustrating, but the app is great. The steakhouse and Agave had amazing food. Overall good food. Our young kids (almost 2 and 5) did not make enough use of the waterpark as it is better suited to older kids. However they loved the kids club, the pool and the nightly shows. The beach however is rarely in use. It does have seaweed and is murky but we would have used it and playe [... read more]d in the sand more. No one talks about it and there are no signs but we learned from past reviews and the bartender that this is due to crocodiles nearby. Thankfully we never encountered any but it made us fearful of spending much time at the beach. This is the only reason I may not go back to this location. Even though the Royalton overall was a good resort. If you don’t care for the beach at all, then it’s worth the visit.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Do not Go!!!!!

Horrible resort to say the least. Too many things to mention. Let me start by mentioning that we had diamond club which comes with early check-in but our check-in was delayed by 4 hours. Our room-service order was never delivered or delivered hours later resulting in us missing meals (restaurants closed) Housekeeping was disgusting, they left pools of water in the bathroom on which I slipped and almost fell (my husband caught me). The cherry on top of our disastrous stay was our check-out. Our shuttle was scheduled at 4:45 am and our pickup from the room to bring us to the main lobby was at 4:15. we were ready and waiting from 4:13 and when no one showed up until 4:25, I called the front desk and was told that someone was on their way to get us. We waited another 10 minutes and called the front desk by which time, they never answered. I kept calling until someone came around 5:05. As we were leaving the room, the phone rang and it was the shuttle bus driver calling me to tell me that I was late and he was going to leave me. I then started explaining to him that I didn’t have a ride to get to the bus and he told me that it was not his problem. I hung up on him and got in the tram with our luggage, the guy drove so fast, that one of our luggage fell off. The driver got excited and jammed the brakes so hard that all of us banged our knees so hard my daughter started crying. He picked up our baggage and took us to the lobby only to find that our shuttle had left. I was fuming by this time. It was already around 5:15. When I explained this to the front desk, the guy told me that I’ll have to take a taxi and pay for it!!!!!! Anyways, we made it home in disbelief and are still unable to get over our miserable experience.

Royalton CHIC Cancun: 7 days of Paradise

My time at the Royalton CHIC Cancun was truly exceptional—a memorable experience that exceeded my expectations. I was thoroughly impressed by every aspect of the resort. The hotel’s layout and design, the spaciousness of the rooms, the diverse culinary offerings from the various restaurants, the exemplary customer service, housekeeping, and breathtaking beach views all contributed to an outstanding stay. However, Royalton CHIC Cancun stands out as the best among them. When booking, I sought a resort close to the airport that offered a vibrant atmosphere with opportunities for relaxation without being far from the action. Royalton CHIC Cancun perfectly met these criteria. Thank you, Royalton, for such a wonderful experience. One suggestion that would have further enhanced my stay is the room service menu, particularly for lunch and dinner. It would be great to have the option to order from one of the resort’s restaurants or perhaps the buffet. While I wouldn’t expect the full menu, offering one or two items from a selected restaurant each day would be a significant enhancement. Thank you, Royalton.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful and relaxing resort

This resort is clean, beautiful landscape, the workers are nice. Satisfied with the food, they have grilled seafoods everyday, fresh lobster night at the buffet, They have Italian resto but can accommodate just few guests. We didn't able to book for dinner because they always filled out. They can handle only two people per table. Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Amazing Resort

The accommodations were modern and clean, the grounds well laid out and everything we needed was readily available. The staff were great but there were several standouts. The breakfast staff, Goddy and Abraham in the Hideaway dining room were attentive, pleasant and their warm smiles started our day off right. Edgar at the omelet station is fantastic as well, make sure you get an omelet from him before you leave, he made ours just right every day. If you're staying at The Hideaway make sure you dine at The Dorado and ask for Carlos to wait on you, what a gentleman and professional. We are planning on returning as soon as we can, this resort checked all the boxes for us and it's only a 15 minute trip from the airport!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Nice room but…

My first room was incredibly musty/mouldy! So bad it was hard to breathe. We were able to change our room and it was much better, but still musty. My friends changed their rooms because the air conditioning was not working well, and it was constantly 25 degrees. Too warm. Their second room was perfect. No mould, and good air. Ask for room 806! Mine was 805, and it was still musty. I had to wash my clothes twice when I came home to get rid of the smell. They made it worth the stress when things were not comfortable. 24 hour room service was a plus for sure! Tip these wonderful people at least $1-5 USD per room service delivery. They need it and appreciate it. I also brought clothes to give the maid staff, that I no longer wanted, and they were delighted to have something new and different because they do not have much choice or money to buy new clothes. The food was very good! I loved all my meals, and cannot complain about it. They made a big effort to make meals special in the dining rooms, and that was not unnoticed! Thank you Royalton for the service and effort you put out there. You certainly aim to please and rectify any concerns of your guests! I will return!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Tropical Paradise

The Royalton exceeded our expectations! The rooms were clean and spacious, the food was tasty and plentiful and the staff was friendly and attentive. Having a butler added to the experience. Over the week we had Omar, Michel and Javier taking care of us. Each morning they connected with us to see if we needed anything and checked in again at the end of the day. The level of customer service at this resort sets it apart from the rest.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: 3 star hotel at best!

The rooms were dated, need paint and new furniture, the beach was beautiful and the pools are pretty good, but missing tiles, and in need of repair. The staff is very attentive, however the food is terrible, and the lack of types of liqueurs and common mixes for typical drinks is very disappointing

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort

Grounds were well kept, lobby was clean had a nice breeze and overlooking the infinity pool, room was nice and clean bed and pillows were comfy, a/c worked fine. Food seemed repetitive. Staff were always courteous. Butlers Maria Rosa and Javier were very helpful. Ran into a couple of issues in our room and they were addressed right away. Anay from housekeeping was awesome always gave us what we needed.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Quiet resort

The beach is amazing, the bed mattress is really hard, food limited and shortage for many days, but didn't go hungry basically the same thing every day. No accessibility to elevator it was broken having to go to la carts or buffet there are many stairs so if you have any disability challenges, I can say it would be with a lot of difficulties, very friendly staff. Remember you're not in Cuba for the food. Lack of daily entertainment

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Amazing Resort

My family and I stayed at the Royalton Hideway Resort Diamond Club. I want to say that our service was amazing. Our butlers were outstanding and were there for all of us when we needed them. Out of all the restaurants, the Mexican was outstanding, I can’t say enough about the service we received there. It was so amazing that we ate there twice and we we not disappointed.

Royalton Hideaway Negril: Spacious and comfortable

I really enjoyed my week here. The property is huge and very well maintained by a professional and courteous staff. The beaches were clean and uncrowded. Shows nightly for those inclined. It was tough to get seats at the restaurants (maybe since I was solo?), but food was very good with lots of options.Room service took some time, but it's a big resort. Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Definitely not a five star resort

The resort was quite old looking and had no fans to keep the airflow going. I had to ask for my welcome drink and moreover the guy at the concierge treated me as second class since I was not part of the diamond club. I felt everyone at the front desk was about making some extra bucks. The dinning experience was also quite painful since the air condition was working at minimal. Drinks were pretty basic but service at the bar and dinning was pretty good. Everyone was very friendly. Pool size was ok but several areas were booked for diamond club, so it was very hard to find a decent spot. Most of the cabanas were not being used but they always had a reserve sign on them. Our room was ok, nothing great. We kept complaining about the door since it was totally jammed, but we were totally ignored, so we gave up. There were literally three English channels and even those were horrible print. I couldn’t even just relax in the room and watch something. The bed was comfortable. The bar in the room was only beer and water. I have been to other resorts that have a better bar. I would not come back to this resort.

The hotel was overall very nice. The drinks were flowing, the vibes were vibing, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time, and highly recommend this resort to anyone considering visiting.
