Another Excellent Holiday

Our 4th time at the Ambar. First time in the Green Section. Grounds were beautiful, food was excellent, we had an wonderful room overlooking the pool. Staff were very friendly and always offering to help. Sony our Butler, Maura, Lorenzo and Yohan at the restaurants were exceptional. Great vacation experience.

Excellent vacation

This was our second visit to this resort, the first visit was at the Blue and the second at the Green. The hotel was great and the food was better than good. The hotel room was clean and the grounds always tidy. The employees at this this resort were always happy and helpful. My wife and I cannot find one thing to complain about during our one week stay. We will visit this resort again and believe that the Dominican people that work so hard to keep their customers extremely happy are just one of [... read more] a kind. Truly really nice people. The weather is always hot and the ocean is fantastic. One employee named Alexander always has a smile on his face and always yells, " I Love My Job", is an honest and down to earth guy that really does love his job and the vacationers. Can't say enough about how nice a week we had.

Love this Resort Amazing people, beautiful white beaches, great selection of food. Luxury gran Bahia Principe ambar green, is beautiful, wonderful new building and swimming pools, and whirlpools. Entertainment everyday and night. BBQ lunch at the pools everyday was a welcome addition. Definitely recommend and will be back...🏖️🌴🏖️🌴🏖️

Great resort

We found everything was very beautiful at the resort. Staff were great as well as entertainment. Food was good as well. Only problem we had was air transit on our last day, no one knew where the bus was, we were told to wait at one spot the bus did not arrive until 10am, we did not leave customs until 1145am with the flight leaving at 1230.

Paradise

We thought this all-inclusive adults-only resort was amazing, went with adult children and had a blast. It is a very large resort (many combined) but our part was the best. The food and the rooms etc. were excellent

Awesome.

The staff in the hotel were so friendly and always went above and beyond. You automatically felt like you were old friends. The hotel grounds are clean and beautifully maintained. Rooms were comfortable, well decorated and always clean. We enjoyed having the opportunity to go to several alacarte restaurants which were beautiful and the food was outstanding. Mosquito alert!

Third visit to Punta Cana, resort is pristine and the staff work tirelessly to maintain the appearance. Food was great, wide variety of menu options and restaurant themes. Entertainment (Animation) staff were hard-working and friendly. Top marks to Alexander and Luis! This was slightly less well appointed, but acceptable. The turn-down service, although unexpected and thoughtful, was sporadic, and the room was not consistently re-stocked. Our biggest problem was mosquitoes. Despite waging war on the critters every evening, they plagued us at night. We kept our doors closed as much as possible, but there was no relief from the nuisance. By the time we left the D.R. I was covered in ugly red lumps, not the kind of souvenir I wanted. The front desk and Guest Services staff we dealt with were courteous but understaffed, we spent more time waiting for service than I would have liked. Our arrival was disappointing, confusion and disorganization made the check in process long and frustrating. We were lured into attending a "Presentation" that was supposed to last an hour, showcasing an offer to visit the resort's latest development. This is actually a pretty hard-sell for a very expensive travel agency service operated by Bahia Principe in conjunction with major credit card providers and others in the leisure industry. We lost an entire morning to this exercise before the true nature of the offer was revealed. The offer may be irresistible to some, but I felt the invitation was presented dishonestly. On the whole, we had a good holiday, but the resort has become so vast that I felt we, as guests, were simply a commodity to be processed and smiled at.

Terrible

Stayed at this resort from December 7th-14th. We booked three rooms. Requested second floor, all with double beds and connecting rooms or at least close to each other. Upon arrival we were all first floor. One room had double beds we requested and the other two rooms Had one king bed. The rooms were not close to each other and they were facing the massive construction of a new hotel being built beside it. We requested new rooms but were not given any. They said they could put a cot in on [... read more]e of the rooms that had three of us staying in it. The cot never arrived... my daughter slept on the couch for 7 days. After complaining to the reception desk management phoned my room. I told him my concerns. I asked that at least my room be moved as soon as possible considering the construction was loud and I had about twenty workers Right outside my patio door. Nothing was blocking the view into my room besides blackout curtains. I also requested a cot for the room of three. He said he understood and would get back to me. He never got back to me. I listened to construction at all hours. The hotel was not busy so I’m still not sure why my room was never moved or why a cot never arrived. Service at the Ambar Green was by far the worst of any resort I have stayed at. You could sit in the lobby or the outside sitting area for an hour and never see a beverage server. For the most part if you wanted a drink you had to go to the bar and get one. If the nightlife was happening the wait at the bar was at least 15 minutes. The days I spent at the pool I was served maybe two drinks a day, the rest I had to walk to the pool bar. Even during breakfast lunch and dinner it was a long wait. Two days of the seven I just went and poured my own coffee because I was tired of waiting. Maybe I’ve just been lucky at other resorts with the service, I’m not sure but I don’t think this is normal for a five star resort. I’m use to problems with aggressive vendors on the beach but not in the resort itself. The little shopping area they have in the middle of the resorts is full of aggressive vendors. I went the third day and never went back. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. I thought maybe it’s just me but all 7 of my group found the beds terrible. My daughters room had two cockroaches in it. Now I know all resorts have them but seeing them is disgusting! Out of the three rooms only one room seen them: we told the room attendant and she scooped it up and put it down the drain.. ran water and then flipped a cup upside down over the drain..:. Apparently problem solved. Trolley service was confusing. We would say could you take us to the Esmeralda and they would say no you have to go two blocks over and get a trolley there. Everywhere we wanted to go we were never at the right spot. This happened all week. So be prepared for tons of walking! On a good note for this resort...food was good. Rooms were a good size and the washrooms were nice. Entertainment was really good and the entertainers were always trying to interact with you. This is the first time I have had a bad experience at a hotel and we travel every year with a group of 7-9. My husband really wanted to try a Bahia Principe. I can honestly say I will never stay at the Ambar Green again or any Bahia Principe after this experience. I save all year to take this yearly trip so I’m not a spoiled picky person. If you are staying at this resort anytime soon ask for a pool facing room so you don’t have to look at and hear construction during your stay. Cross your fingers and hope they listen to your request

Beautiful resort. Great location

Beautiful resort. Very clean and immaculately maintained. Staff friendly and helpful. Good adult only section and tram service top notch. Water very rough yellow flag up every day. Beach was raked every day. Some hawkers selling their wares but they didn't harrass you. Don't bother doing the Privilege tour. Waste of your day

Big Resort

Very clean grounds. Beach excellent. Dining and service great. Rooms a little tired we were put in older area Lighting poor. Air conditioner kept dripping water. Told them at front desk to fix and was fixed for a day or two, then started dripping again. Did this three times. Telephone did not work. Overall great holiday.

Vacation of a lifetime

My wife and I just spent a week in Paradise. We went to celebrate our 49 wedding anniversary. At Bahai Principle Green. On our arrival, there was a banner on the door signalling our anniversary and a bottle of bubbly with two glasses near by. And it only got better Will definitely return

Amazing Resort

Very good value for money. Construction noise sometimes a bit loud but does not affect the amenities. The rooms are clean and large. The food was excellent. I would definitely return here.The staff are very friendly and attentive and really try har to make the stay enjoyable

My first great experience.

overall.for my wife and myself it was an experience we never had before. the beach was of high standard.clean.the pools were excellent.the meals were great.the room was furnish.the host were very friendly.we had a wonderful vacation.this experience energized me to take the whole family of five on a next vacation.

Great Vacation

We were at the Ambar Green section for 2 weeks at the end of October. The weather was really hot so we spent most of our time relaxing around the adults only pool. The pool servers Gloria, Arisleidy, Rossy, Yissel and Nicaurys were excellent and always extremely friendly. We spoke to our excellent butler Claudia, and she booked all our a la carte dinners for us. When we returned to our room later that day, all our reservation slips had been delivered to our room. Trip of a lifetime!

The resort was amazing. Everyone was friendly and the facilities and grounds were well kept. The entertainers were excellent especially Jhonny, Luis, Alexander and JC. It would have been nice to have a schedule of where and when different things were going on. We stayed at Ambar Green and were disappointed that the nightlife died at 11:30pm. We thought an adults only meant single adults but most were couples. But...we would go back again!

Paradise!

I will start with the flaw, the one flaw. The bed was too hard. The 3 other ladies I travelled with felt the same but were not affected in the same manner as myself because I have existing lower back issues. However, all things considered, it did not ruin my trip and I will tell you why. The grounds were immaculate, staff was very friendly (contrary to several reviews I read stating otherwise). We had no issues with either of our rooms. The entertainment staff (pool area) were fabulous. Not pushy but got you up out of your seat to participate in dancing, water activities, Zumba, and even a spin class in the pool. The pool and surrounding area were the cleanest I have ever experienced and everywhere you look is beautiful. Lots of covered areas (umbrellas, canopied lounge chairs) and an ample amount of chairs so there was no worry that you wouldn’t find one. They hosted a beach party and a champagne jacuzzi party on 2 of the evenings so there’s a nice mixture of events as well as nightly shows. The disco is in the village area of the resort so you can choose to participate or not but are not affected by it if you choose not to. It was by far the best resort disco I have ever experienced and I highly recommend it even if you’re not a big “party goer”. It was a great experience. The food was good and the selection varied each evening as the theme changes daily but they did have some constant offerings so if you find something you really like, chances are you will get it again. I enjoyed this resort and all that it has to offer so much that I have decided to have my wedding here next year. I don’t know of anything better than that to express how amazing of a time we had and we can’t wait to return.

GORGEOUS RESORT !

First time at Ambar Green ( 2nd Ambar building in the back), beautiful , clean, very well taken care of, fantastic swimming pools ( 3 of them). The food was delicious, every night a different theme, Halloween was so much fun, everybody was dressed up, really got into it ! Will be going back next year !!! Staff was extremely nice and friendly!

Very large Generally Very Good

My wife and I stayed Oct 17 to 31, 2017. Over all, the experience was excellent and we would rate the resort at 4.5 out of 5. We were there during what is still considered the low season and in some respects we were glad it was. The actual Ambar Green resort is about average size. However, since there are 6 other resorts that guests have full access to (which includes drinks at any bar), the overall area available to explore and drink in is huge. The 7th resort "Fantasia" is not available t [... read more]o Ambar guests. We had absolutely no problem putting on well over 10,000 steps every day and over 20,000 steps twice, so bring good footwear for exploring the site. In the low season, only about half of the restaurants are open but there are so many that we did not even try all the restaurants that were open. The concierge does book restaurants in the Fantasia resort. Security guards generally will not allow entry unless you have indisputable proof of the reservation. This was a negative when you want to locate a restaurant during the day prior to having the reservation. They should not reserve a restaurant there. Generally, we enjoyed the Don Pablo restaurant in the Ambar Blue the best. The Ambar Green's buffet is half what the Blue is. Most of the time the Blue buffet was the preference for breakfast and lunch. I believe that the lobby bars need to stay open longer. At all resorts in the complex, the lobby bars are open between 10 am and 11:30 pm. I don't need to party late but at some times, it is nice to have a drink and conversation with friends after 11 pm. At 11 pm the lights in the lobby bar area are turned off to get the idea of closing out to the patrons. This was annoying and felt rude. This was a negative. There is a 24 hour bar "Piscus" by the beach but I did not see any liquor available, only beer. You can go to the pueblo/village area for the disco if you want noise. Since we are all adults, I believe that the lobby bars should be open at least until 1 am. The Blue lobby bar tended to have more noisy entertainment in the evening until about 10:30 pm. The Green tended to be quieter. Remember, the beach is about 1 km away from the Green. Since we don't specifically need to be close by the beach this was not an issue and the walk to the beach was preferred by us. The beach was fine and allowed for long walks in either direction. Sea weed clean up on the beach was a constant activity. Remember, depending on wind and ocean current directions, every resort on the ocean will have sea weed washing onto shore at different times of the year. We have been in this area previously and some times there is a problem other times, no problem. Don Pablo must be a weird guy. Who considers putting a window between the bathroom and the main living area with curtains controlled on the main living area side of the window. Are we expecting a puppet show? This is a negative for the average person but maybe, it is a positive for others. I think that most people would prefer upper floor rooms for privacy concerns since, the bathroom window faces the patio door to the outside. The main reasons that I was glad that our trip was during the low season are as follows: The amount of vehicular traffic, (golf carts, motorcycles, trucks, and shuttles) on the foot paths was very high and was a continuous issue for pedestrians. The problem is that due to the size of the resort complex many maintenance vehicles are required. The ability of guests to use more than one resort results in the demand for many transportation shuttles. In the "high season" this may become more than an annoyance. The resort, even though being extremely large started to become more and more busy each day of our stay. Pool chair towel reservation was starting to become more prevalent. Access to the bars and restaurants was starting to be more difficult. In the high season this may become annoying. Cleanliness was generally very good even in public areas. Some maintenance issues could use more attention. Staff were friendly and with a little humor or sign language any language barrier could be overcome. Tipping like a pretentious fool is not required. Use patience, humor and attitude and service is excellent.

Overrated!

Firstly, this is one small section of a huge complex. There is Ambar Green, Ambar Blue and Ambar Blue and Green- totally confusing! The best part of this resort is the grounds which are well maintained and clean. One of the restaurants, serving Brazilian food was very good. The main buffet dining room was acceptable but the restaurants at the beach were terrible! I've experienced better in Cuba!! The reception personnel were Sooo ineffective! When we went to ask for something, they rudely directed us to guest services! For us, the worst part were the rooms! Perhaps when newly constructed, they were worthy of a 5 star resort but not any longer! The room was outdated, smelled of mold and humidity! We changed rooms twice! The staff couldn't seem to repair the Air Conditioning until the day we left! As one stepped into the corridor, there were dust bunnies everywhere and dirty dishes piled up! Disgusting! This is NOT a 5 star or a 4 star hotel!

Nice resort

The grounds were in well kept condition. Beach was big with plenty of spots to sit. Room was nice and clean. Pool was big and spacious for all people. Only negative was fair distance to beach area. Other then that it was a good spot.
