Amazing Resort

The hotel was only open for 3 weeks when we were there and the staff worked hard at keeping it clean and making us feel at home. We found it very windy which made it more comfortable in the hot sun but cool in the evenings when the sun went down. The buffet had a great variety of options at each meal with four stations preparing food just as you like it. We enjoyed 3 a la cartes and other than never enough they were very good. The beach area was nice but as everyone has said the seaweed made it challenging to keep the beaches clean. The water front area was very rocky to the left of the resort for walking only but had to be very careful and sandy to the right with huts for shade. It was a very relaxing holiday.

Beautiful resort!

I stayed at the resort from March 18. 2018. Lovely hotel, swimming pools, weather great 25-30 degrees. Not much in a way of shade as newly planted palm trees too small not providing any shade. Offered four umbrellas not enough for all the lounge chairs. Too bad so many umbrellas were standing useless in the court yard were no one ever sat during a day since everyone was at the beach or swimming pool! Too big and heavy to carry to pool area. Few a la carte restaurants offered excellent food, especially Italian. Buffet offered cool not hot meals,mediocre, lacking spices food. Oatmeal offered twice in a week was lumpy, distasteful, no cocao offered. Soups except one cream of pumpkin inedible! mushed patatoes very watery, French fries cold every day. Lack of heating plates to keep food warm for the time being. A lot of food missing tags so hard to figure what food is what. Very bad tasting cakes three times a day. Able to actually enjoy very few in a week maybe 3 only! Tea poured lukewarm, really bad quality. First day I was lucky and waiter offered English breakfast tea and that was great!. Orange juice in AM fake, terrible. Servers in buffet quick to clear tables but not that fast if one needs something. Luckily cappuccino and pina colada in a bar made up for all those bad teas and coffees at buffet! Great grilled sandwiches in a 24 hr bar helped a lot to servive the stay.

Fabulous time. Great new resort.

Amazing beach. Staff were great. Everyone tried so hard to make it a perfect vacation. We loved it. The beach is beautiful. The rooms are very generous in size. The only complaint is really with guests that hold beach and pool chairs and don’t use them for most of the day. No different than many resorts but very disappointing

Great New Resort

The hotel , rooms, and beach were excellent with a lot of attention being paid by staff to improving the grounds and providing good, friendly service. Food was acceptable but more variety would improve it overall. Entertainment was excellent but we would recommend that management find ways to inform guests of where and when events will take place.

Very good resort

This new resort is well situated , compact and the majority of rooms have some ocean view. Since it is brand new, there were no problems with hot water, air conditioning, access etc. The theater was not yet completed and so they had the entertainment either in the open square, the pool area and the lobby. The staff is extremely accommodating and the majority, down to the gardeners, speak some or good English. The food was not up to par even for Cuba and especially for a 4.5 or 5 star hotel. I am not being negative but feel some of the other reviews are not what i have experienced especially during the same stay that i was there mainly march 18 to 25th. Nevertheless the resort itself is fabulous, clean, well laid out and has a beautiful beach with, at our stay, already had at least 50 huts for shade . Plus there were a substantial number of loungers too more than enough for a full resort, The beach is cleaned daily and the water is clear and shallow. Upon visiting Pillar beach, i feel the beach area and water is on par with that beach. They also have servers along the beach or you can go yourself to the beach bar. The pool area is self explanatory if you visit the resort facebook site. Remember this is a brand new resort so the grounds still need a year of growth to bring them up to par with older resorts. The rooms too are beautiful with a free safe, umbrella, coffee machine, fridge with water, drinks and beer replenished daily, nice size bathroom with a large walk in shower with ceiling water shower. No complaints whatsoever . These comments are made from three couples of different ages who have been to numerous Cuban, Mexican and Dominican resorts for the past 40 years. Beautiful new resort

The Grand Muthu resort was beautiful and new. Bathrooms and rooms very nice. Entertainment was good. Still working on the entertainment building which will be finished soon. Staff were very attentive and very helpful, although many of them could not understand English. Pools were lovely, would be nice to have more umbrellas for shade. Beach was nice but not directly in front of the resort, more to the side. An improvement could be made with the food. A lot of Cuban dishes which many wer [... read more]e not too fussy about. While the food was plentiful, the beef was very tough and the chicken chewy. Breakfasts were good with many choices. Specialty restaurants were not too impressive. One restaurant, the International, had only one choice for appetizer and main course. All in all, would go back again.

More than expected

Great vacation spot. You can snorkel at the beach by the pier 15 min walk. Interesting games are played at the pool thru the day. Bring maple syrup and butter for crepes and bread. Butter because it's not salted and has a different taste than at home. We would return in a heart beat.

Week 3 at Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo

It's beautiful, I was there the third week after they opened. It was discounted because it was brand new and the staff are learning. Tourists have to be a bit patient as they sometimes don't open the buffet until the staff feel everything is ready which may be full half hour after it is posted on the door. ie . if you have an 8 am tour bus , grab something the night before like a bun and cheese and refrigerate it in the bar frig.

Excellent resort

The resort was amaizing , the grounds were not finished but we could see workers planting trees,flowers and doing maintenance. The room that was assigned to us was beautiful, ground level as per our request for a accessible unit, spacious room for a wheelchair to maneuver, the food was the best I have ever seen or tasted in Cuba. We also tried the Italian and th [... read more]e international restaurants and they were both good.The theatre was not opened as they were still working on it therefore the entertainment was outside however they still need to improve on it.The bars need to improve in making and mixing drinks, the front desk was very helpfull with any issues. The staff were very good and polite. I would rate this resort as a 4.5 stars.

No Concerns

Attentive Staff, good and varied nightly entertainment, satisfactory and plentiful food, large enough and clean room, nice beach shallow ocean with lifeguards on duty, hobie cats and water craft available

Outstanding resort

The hotel was immaulate, the service was outstanding, from the bartenders to the servers in the buffet and front desk, everyone could not do enough for you, constantly asking if everything is ok. Entertainment crew are amazing people especially Ilillen, and Ilian (twins) and Jordan, they made our trip so memorable. Entertainment is live in buffet and restaurants, and nightly entertainment is good. They have an amazing rock band on Tuesday nights and they also perform around the pool on tuesday [... read more] afternoon, singing in english. Internet is not so good, you have to buy a card 1.50 for 1 hour and can only get connected in the lobby. Room overlooking the ocean was beautiful. Wonderful Aquatic show in the pool also on Monday night. I would and will go back.

Awesome

Just returned from 10 days at the Grand Muthu Guillermo in Cuba. The resort and staff were awesome. There are quite a few English speaking staff which was very helpful. We were three women in our 60’s and could not of had more fun. The entertainment staff especially the twins llian and llien ( spelling is wrong I think) and Jordan were great. One of the bartenders Oscar called us flowers and made each of us a necklace. The food was very good at the buffet as well as the 4 a la carte restaurants. At breakfast there was an omelette bar, crepes, waffles, smoothies, everything you could want. On Tuesday there is a fabulous rock band that plays at the pool in the late afternoon and in the evening. We also saw an aquatic show that was wonderful. The lobby bar makes a great Spanish coffee I will definitely return to this resort We met so many wonderful people both staff and other guests. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the trip

Great Beginings!

We were lucky enough to stay at the Grand Mutu in Cayo Guillermo on the first day it opened......the staff were amazing and the Hotel itself is beautiful! They were still working on the beach and the outside Theater but I'm sure they will be finished very soon, having said that you could still use the beach, and they had lots of entertainment just in a different area. The food was good for Cuban standards and we really enjoyed the Indian restaurant! We would definitely stay there again!

Rien que du positif! Les employés sont super gentils et le service est excellent. Tout est neuf et la nourriture est génial pour Cuba! Les restos à la carte sont fantastique, surtout le Seafood. Beaucoup de choix au buffet! Je le recommande à 100%
