Barcelo Huatulco: Authentic Mexican resort

Room clean & I believe newly updated. Food was good, plenty of variety. Al carte also were good. Grounds were clean. The pool was not up to our standard. The 'adult only', we went swimming in only once. The beach has coarse golden sand. The red flag was up every day we were there. Dangerous surf with undertow for both adults & especially children. We did have fun on the beach & in the water. I did like that every thing was so close. It is a favourite resort for the Mexican people, so it became v [... read more]ery busy & noisy with families (lots of children). The music was played too loud at poolside. My friends & I will pick a adults only resort next time. I would like to mention that the Sunwing reps. we're very friendly & helpful.

Barcelo Solymar: Party resort

Nice resort, great beach. Only good if you are young and want to party a lot. Not for those who are looking to relax .food is up to Cuban standards and so are the rooms . Close to a lot of things to do off the resort.

Barcelo Solymar: Amazing time!

As a 21 year old I thought this hotel was perfect. Lots of young people and beach parties every night. My group of friends and myself had lots of fun and would go back with another group. The food was fine, there was always something that we could eat and enjoy. The a la cartes had really fresh food. Staff was nice. Room was always clean and beds made. Beach was amazing and lots of activities. No complaints. Not somewhere I would bring a family but for a young crowd it was great!

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Wonderful beaches

The beaches and grounds were immaculate. The food was surprisingly good for a buffet and the restraunts were delicious. I would get reservations immediately as they go quick. The rooms were nice but the walls are paper thin so don't expect alot of privacy. All in all it was a great trip

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Barcelo Resort

Facilities were really nice, the cafeteria food was pretty horrible but the a la carte restaurants were fantastic. Staff was mostly friendly, felt safe the whole time in the resort. Maids were friendly

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Fabulous Resort

Barcelo Bavaro Palace Delux in Punta Cana, DR, is an amazing resort. It had the right mix of daytime entertainment , amazing beach, many restaurants and all were really good. Best food ever in at a resort in the Caribbean I have ever experienced. The Staff were friendly, helpful and fun . Good shopping on site . Pool Bar staff and Daytime staff, whether it be yoga, beach volleyball , water polo or poolside dancing exercise are fun and great people to be around. The beach is spectacular. We had O [... read more]cean front with jacuzzi on patio . The rooms were clean , modern and nicely appointed nice beds and great for a good night sleep. We will be definitely returning.

Barcelo Karmina: Beautiful Resort

The grounds are beautiful. The room was great. The food was ok. Favourite a la carte was the Japanese Restaurant. The view from the Italian Restaurant was incredible. The staff were very friendly. I found it very strange that there were no facecloths in the room though! We found one on the cleaning lady's cart and let her know we needed it. Overall experience was great.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Above expectations

Although we changed our destination to the Melia Peurto Vallarta, this hotel was also above our expectations. The grounds and pool were immaculate and beautiful, the staff upgraded our room to what we requested and we never had a bad experience with food or service the entire time of our 10 day stay. We would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely consider going back. Trip Central was very helpful and eager to satisfy us in our request for the changes.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Amazing amenities - terrible service

I have been to Punta Cana before and I love the resort. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are lovely and contemporary, the pools are great, food was fantastic! BUT the Service...not good. I found the staff with the definite exception of a few, we're pretty miserable overall. Until they knew we were the Tipping kind. We genuinely wanted to tip those that were attentive. But many could care less if you had been looked after.

Barcelo Solymar: Great place, bad food.

We were a party of 16. We had a fabulous time at this resort and I always say, you get what you pay for. I paid for the beach and the Pina Coladas! The food in Cuba has a long way to go until it improves. The hotel needs a little TLC, but it was clean and the staff was 5*. Oscar in the lobby went above and beyond to help us out. He recommended a restaurant in town that was a lovely Cuban experience. All in all, you get what you pay for so I wasn't overly disappointed. Barcelo Karmina: Fabulous resort !!

Loved the Barceló Karmina Palace in Manzanillo, MX. It didn't feel like Mexico at all, with all the lush greenery that surrounded the area. The hillside housing reminded me of Santorini, Greece with the exclusion of blue roofs. The amenities that this resort provided is suitable for couples, or families. The room I stayed in was the nicest ever in Mexico, it was the junior suite and I absolutely loved the bathroom. Liked the fact that it had an adult "only" pool. Irregardless, if you needed to get away from the noise of the children, there are a variety of areas in which to do so. Food selections were outstanding, and there was never a time frame in which there was nothing available to eat. Although, I am not too sure about the availability after midnight. My absolute FAVORITE was the Mexican ala carte restaurant which overlooked the roar of the ocean, it was so relaxing and breath taking. Not only that, but they offered a private lobster dinner on a beach embankment under a gazebo, which looked amazing. I did not experience this, but will definitely be sure to on my next visit. I cannot attest for the party atmosphere that Manzanillo has to offer (as I did not go to town on the pub crawl) but they do have a disco, as well as a piano bar area which was very entertaining. My overall opinion is this is a higher end resort with an affordable price, and I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Good resort

Location, room, amenities were as expected. Great service and good overall. Beach was good, food was excellent. Shows were somewhat acceptable. People were very kind, helpful and things were as planned. Nothing negative in our stay.

Barcelo Solymar: Great spot and amazing beach

Service was not very good. Hotel was not in the best shape. Hotel was busy and with a good mix of young and mature adults and families. Beach was fantastic. Great pools and many bars. Buffet service had variety of fresh food - salads, fruit and fish/seafood was good. Discos, bars, cafes within walking distance for evening nightlife. Vespas and cars available for rent at the hotel - convenient.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: No bologna at the buffet . . . . :o)

Three of us stayed at the Barceló Maya Colonial in early April 2015. My husband and I had been twice before (one at the Palace and once the Colonial), and it was my father’s first time. We asked for, and received rooms close together on the third floor in a quiet building (quiet at night, i.e. away from the theatre). We were in the Jalisco building, at the end closest to the pool and beach. It was just what we asked for – clean, well kept, and quiet. We had a problem the first day with our [... read more] air conditioning, but within 20 minutes someone arrived – right on schedule – and fixed it. TIP - ask for a bed-topper - the mattresses are pretty hard without them. The food was great – same as our previous visits. My father was really pleased with the quality of food – much better than he had expected - bologna at the buffet perhaps. ‘Oh, there isn’t any bologna, I guess I’ll have the smoked salmon instead then . . . !’ We went to the seafood, steakhouse, Japanese and Italian restaurants. All of them were excellent – except for the Japanese – what a disappointment. We had been there on our last trip, and really enjoyed the food and the show that the chef put on. Unfortunately the ‘show’ has taken over and become the main focus, and the food has suffered – it wasn’t anywhere as good. Two of us had what was supposed to be duck . . . . no idea what it really was, but it definitely was not duck! Bars were great as usual – helpful staff and fast service, even though the resort was busy. Except in the lobby bar, which seemed to work on extra slow time, even when we were the only ones in there! The beach, as always, is what makes Barceló stand out. Yes, there was quite a lot of seaweed, but it’s only on the edge of the beach, and they clear it up diligently. I didn’t have a problem once in the water – there was a bit around, but not enough to bother me. I went down to the Palace end most mornings to visit the turtles, off the pier with the fish, and right out front of the Colonial to play in the surf – always had a great time. We did two trips – one to Coba (a visit to the pyramid, zip line and cenote visit). A great trip for us, well worth it. But as they say – it’s all good fun until someone gets hurt – and hopefully the gent who dislocated his shoulder jumping into the cenote is okay – fortunately we know first aid, and our guides were excellent – rearranging people in various buses so they could take him to hospital. Our other trip was to Akumal (we took a taxi as we’ve been there before, so knew where to go). Lovely place for snorkeling – but if you go, try and be there for 8:00am to miss the tour groups. We toured the village, and stopped for lunch at Lucy’s café – great food and friendly staff. Would we go back . . . . yes - we’re already planning the next trip.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great value for just relaxing

There was no wow factor , but everything , room and the building it was in , food , beer , beach , pool etc etc was pretty good. Housekeeping staff were very good. We recommend somewhere around building 12 if you want some quiet time , and close to the beach but only a minute or two from the pool. Learn the walkways , two minutes anywhere on right walkway. We went beach to eat to pool and so on, ask about free extra cirriculars . Cautions , bring all you need for sunblocks etc., everything is re [... read more]ally expensive. , little mall nearby , got scammed , anything off the resort expect to be upset , eg. a free tour is one way , you pay to come back. Also the Al a carte, check for asterics , stars in the menu , lots of paying extra , Mexican and BrazilIan were best by far with no extras. Jm Northern Ontario Canada

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Relaxing Time

A beautiful resort 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. Staff was friendly and the food was okay. Would recommend to others just looking to relax by the pool as the beach was quite small. Lots of wildlife around.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Our 4th stay at Barcelo Maya Palace

Since 2010 we stayed for the 4th time at this resort. Last year we chose Palladium White Sands, which we regretted afterwards. Although Palace got more pricey since are last stay in 2013 (for 3 persons almost $1000 more for a 10 days stay). Rooms are well kept, although they require a bit of touch-ups. Buffet food is good gut but very repetitive. Top shelve drinks. The a la carte restaurants are good: Brazilian, Caribbean and French, but still the same menu as 5 years ago. They opened a dolphina [... read more]rium in the resort, where they have a short 10 minutes show daily. Also you can buy a package to swim with the dolphins (from $99 to $150), a bit pricey but a great experience for kids. Four months ago they opened a mini mall in the resort, where they have several high end shops, gift shop, bowling alley, Japanese restaurant (good) and an Italian restaurant (OK). The beach is amazing, lots of corals close by, where you can snorkel and see lots of fish, turtles, etc. The Palace beach is like a lagoon, but if you walk down 100 meters to the Tropical/Colonial beach, you can enjoy the waves. The staff are friendly and helpful especially if you tip them, but they deserve it. We will be back for sure.

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: Very nice!

Great place to stay! Wonderful service, beautiful large pools, good food. Entertainment was good. Only draw back was not safe to swim in ocean due to dangerous currents - had to go into Los Cabos to do this. Beautiful scenery and huge waves were amazing!

Barcelo Solymar: Resort is accomodating

As this is my 2nd trip to Barcelo Solymar and 1 time to the sister resort, Arenes Blancas; I found a few changes. I stayed in the renovated area the first time and the unrenovated section the last trip. Big difference, I had a few problems on the last visit. The first visit - No words - just FANTASTIC.... On the second trip, A totally different story. Only a shower as bathtub not able to hold water due to plug fix; No remote control for the TV; terrible pillows (pcs of foam stuffed in pillow ca [... read more]se); the door frame broken on the front door. Asked for assistance and someone came on my last day to try a fix the door, not satisfactory. On the good side of things, I love Cuba and people and found this hotel extremely accommodating, except for fixes. The food was satisfactory/good; the service was excellent and a beautiful resort. Nice and close to town. Enjoyed the Beatles Club - Great spot and Fantastic Band. Many nice restaurants. Would return in a heartbeat.......Made many friends at this resort. Sad to Leave......

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Just okay

The rooms were okay, the first night we found a huge cockroach on the bathroom floor but never seen anything after that. The maid service was awesome Julie really took care of us.. The grounds were nice BUT they really do cater to the locals. I don't mind being around locals but they were extremely loud and rude. The buffet was just okay, you could find something to eat but again they really cater to the locals even with the food. The beach was beautiful even though we didn't spend a lot of time there as it was way too windy for our liking. I guess to sum it up, we got what we expected for what we paid.
