Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Amazing Resort
From airport to airport everything was smooth. First we got a free upgrade to the Rose Hall Grand from the Suites resort. From here we found heaven. The beach, the food, the service was top notch. The people working here are second to none. They are always at your service looking to do something special to make your stay memorable. They accomplished it all with flying colors. The cleanliness of this resort needs to be commended. I have never seen a resort beach washroom be so clean and smell so [... read more]clean. (LOL but true).
A special thanks to Kevin Dupuis at Trip Central Sudbury for making this trip so easy to book and make happen. Your expertise is greatly appreciated.
I would recommend this resort to anyone looking to be catered to and spoiled.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Over crowded and tired hotel
This is my second time traveling to the Iberostar Laguna Azul and it will be my last. The resort was completely booked when we stayed mid April, and it felt a zoo. The staff at the resort were tired and it showed In the service they provided. I felt bad asking them for a drink or a coffee so I often would go without. that's no way to spend a vacation...especially after spending good money to go. The food at the resort was awful.... Yes I understand it's Cuba and I didn't go there for the food bu[... read more]t it became sickening to eat after the 3rd day, as the food at the buffet never changed. At the end of the trip I just stopped eating because I had no appetite for anything. If you want my advice, just save your money and don't go to Cuba at all. After the first few days on the trip, We ended up having to go to a hospital outside of varadero and it was an absolute nightmare. I could never return to Cuba after experiencing the unsanitary conditions, irresponsible doctors and lack of medical equipment necessary for even basic healthcare. Do your research....it's not worth it.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Good Holiday with some hiccups
This hotel was very clean and well kept. Food was just good. Rooms were clean however our room had no bathroom door and the balcony door didn't lock- we didn't complain, just adjusted to these issues. Beach towels are in your room when you check in however it wasn't until day 7 of the trip that fresh beach towels were available at the pool towel hut. Beach was small but enough room to accommodate the beach chairs.
With the exception of the entertainment staff, the rest of the staff was ver[... read more]y unfriendly (contrary to what I had read on most reviews). The pool bar staff were extremely unfriendly. It got to the point that it was uncomfortable to go to the bar. Buffet staff did their jobs and didn't go over board to be nice. Not sure if this was due to the fact that when we had our money changed over they gave us all big bills, did not have small bills to give us... therefore it wasn't until around day 3 of the trip that we were able to finally change big bills for small (for tipping). At that point I think maybe we were labelled as the non tippers - --so when you finally get money and tip and still you are still treated rudely, well why bother tipping ??
There is a large kids pool but most kids end up in the deeper part of the pool. There were no daytime pool entertainment activities until around 3pm. The shows they had at the pool were very entertaining.
This hotel had a lot of young families and people over 70. Didn't know this before booking, somehow that missed the reviews. There didn't seem to be many middle aged people.
So overall, we had a good holiday because we made the best of it, but this is the last visit.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Horrible Experience
Had a horrible experience at this resort. Staff were not nice at all. The only person we liked was the ice cream girl. Medical team sucked. Worst resort I have ever been to. Will never go back here, or to Cuba!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not the vacation we were hoping for
The hotel grounds are ok but I have been to cuba 12 times and this is the first 5 star and I saw nothing that made this resort any better than a 4 star resort.
The food was horrible. All 12 of us got sick at some point on the trip with diarrhea and it lasted several days.
The hotel was completely booked while we were there so that made for extremely long line ups for drinks and food. There was always a fight for shady seats by the pool.
We were definitely disappointed with our choice in reso[... read more]rt this year and no one from our group of 12 will be returning to this resort or even to cuba in the future.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Very average resort 3 star resort with relatively friendly staff
Our first all inclusive experience at Iberostar Playa Alameda was as follows:
THE GOOD PART:
1. The weather was not hot and breezy, good for surfing not for swimming though
2. The beach and the ocean were nice although a bit wavy but kids enjoyed it
3. Reasonable sector manager and the most of the staff to negotiate some unpleasant experience.
4. There are some nice little shows to watch (We liked singers and acrobats).
THE BAD PART:
1. After check-in at 3 a.m. we were pl[... read more]aced in a ground-floor room at Building No.12. Room wasn't clean, smelled of musk and mold and beds smelled terrible. My wife has allergy to mold so It took us 12 hours to be moved to Building No.16. The room was more or less clean although towels smelled like shit. After tipping our cleaning lady we have got them replaced.
2. Building No.14 is being renovated right now and you will enjoy a lot of noise, worker's talks, etc. along with ocean breeze.
2. Double beds are very small and uncomfortable. Consider it as a king bed cut into two parts. My god's feeling that double bed at Super8 is way bigger. We were finally extremely lucky to get extra cot for free and use coach for our youngest.
3. Beer, water and pop supplies (2 beer,2 pop and bottle of water) for the room are delivered every other day, well, if you tip you get more frequent schedule. But, that is what we have paid for, right?
4. Not sure who does the laundry for this resort. We were extremely lucky to get our bedding and towels (after tipping, of course) not smelling terrible.
5. If you want to enjoy a La Carte restaurant(s), make sure you prepare yourself for the small portion of food from the same breakfast buffet on a big plate and, I forgot to mention, that if you don't want to pick something from the wine card(not included in your package) you will get a complementary glass of wine from the same buffet(Damn, I thought Naked Grape was the worst I have ever tried)
6. The variety of food was as a variety available food offered but sometimes it was a difficult to choice to make because we wasn't sure about freshness. But at the end of the day, we kept our first aid pills in place (sorry, safe) being ready to any unexpected situation. All the fruits were green, except papaya, may be? We have tried fruits outside hotel and it tasted amazing(really?) There was one day when the food was good(Saturday, I guess?) but that was the day when the staff was collecting the surveys about quality of food and service.
7. The last point would be the location of the hotel. It is far from Varadero. You can take a double bus, of course, but next time we will stay in, say, Barceló Solimar just because its in walking distance or, may be, just for comparison sake?
Overall, it is ok for the first time and I would rate it close to 3 star

Hotel Mojito: Great value!
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) enjoyed our stay at Iberostar Mojito. Very quick check in! The grounds and rooms are kept very clean, lots to eat at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants are good as well. We found the staff to be very friendly, smiling and saying hello. The beach was amazing, from that very first view you take as you walk down the boardwalk, smooth fine sand, turquoise water. The tide is high in the morning and goes out in the afternoon. I couldn't get over how [... read more]clear the water is here - breathtaking. We spent alot of time in the pool, the kids enjoyed this very much. The entertainment team did an excellent job in running activities poolside during the day and we also loved going to watch the shows every evening.
The rooms and certain places around the resort need updating, but like I mentioned everything was kept clean which was great.
If you're looking for modern, luxurious accommodations, then this place isn't for you. We would recommend this resort to friends and family and would most certainly come back here again.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Absolutely Beautiful Resort and Staff
This has been our fourth time back to this resort, once Park Side, once Grand Villa, and twice Spa side, and we usually travel with a few other couples. We have been lucky to travel a fair bit and this is only one of two resorts we have ever repeated; it is the beauty of the location and the staff that will continue to draw us back again and again. They have two beaches with fine powdery sand and shallow gradual slopes great for children, and abundance of sea life to keep all entertained. Being [... read more]on it's own Cayo (island) the beach is private and has no vendors or crowding, there is also no need to do the early morning "towel reserve" although some still do. The food is very good throughout the resort, sure I have had better in countries with no supply issues, but I always find more then what I need to eat. The rooms are very large and are well maintained. Being that this is a mature resort, the first built on the island, the vegetation is absolutely amazing making your walks and scenery enjoyable. Due to its location in a protected area the resort is setback from the beach and does entail a fair bit of walking - just something to take note of. The biggest draw for me is the staff - they are the reason we consistently return here. They are the kindest, most enagaging, and genuine staff I have ever met. They'll remember your favourite table, seat, drink by the second day. Gardners and maintenance staff will smile and give a genuine Hola when you cross. You can tip - or not - and you'll still get that same service (although, I always recommend tipping - you would tip back home, only difference here is the product has been prepaid). I would also recommend a day excursion into Remedious which is one of the towns the bus goes around on your way from the airport - the twon and church are beautiful.
This is my second time at this resort and I loved it just as much. Many of the staff remembered me from my first visit and were so nice. Loved the pool, the restaurants and the entertainment. I am not a beach person but the layout of the beach at this resort is laid out really nice. Would definitely go back there for a third visit.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Great Staff, Great Resort
First trip to Cuba and this resort definitely appeared the best as we passed others on the day we arrived. Oney, the bartender at the cigar bar makes the best drinks and we didn't even go in the pool because the ocean cove that was at the edge of the resort was beautiful and warm! The food was even okay! The best was anything that was made fresh to order for example the fried fish station at the buffet. But by far the most impressive thing was the kindness and happiness of all of the staff. Ever[... read more]y single staff member had a smile on there face and would say hola every day! Great experience! And so close to beautiful Pilar beach as well!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not Terrible...
This resort was disappointing. Not a terrible time , it just lacked in quality and entertainment compared to other places we've stayed in varadero. The lobby isn't very open to the outdoors so it's very smokey. Almost unbearable if your a non smoker like myself. The food was the exact same everyday in the buffet lunch and dinner. Breakfast was ok, the bacon is never cooked but if you take it up the chef will fry it longer for you. 24 he snack bar only served fries hamburger and hotdogs and ran o[... read more]ut late in the evening on the day we arrived. Pizza is served at snack bar on a random days . The resort advertise more snack bars but there was only open for lunch and the other was back/24 he one The bars were either the swim up, beach bar or lobby which was laid out very inconveniently and has ZERO entertainment. The lobby bar had a piano playing every night which was not entertaining. This resort had very little in terms of music and entertainment aside from the Little theatre shows which were not great. All that nit pickyness aside it's Cuba. If you've been there before you know what to expect. The beach at this resort was incredible. Simply beautiful. But I would not rank this hotel any higher than 3.5 . Elevators were broken, one day all the toilets were closed so you had to walk from beach to the main lobby and then no toilet paper. Wifi is available but it's a terrible connection. The a la carte were delicious.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: “Very nice and helpful staff & chefs were amazing with my special dietary needsâ€
We arrived to a nice clean oceanview room. The maid surprised us with a nice romantic turn down service when she noticed I had a nice piece of lingerie I had takin out for bed time... Nice touch, my boyfriend was impressed!
Food was great & the serving staff do not push for tips which is a big plus for me. Having been to Cuba a couple of times & find they are a bit pushy for tips. The organize tons of events for adults & kids. The nightly entertainment is great & your never bored. The beach l[... read more]unches are a nice touch as well. The guys by the beach that promote a market up the way are a little annoying, but just talk friendly and laugh & tell them your not interested and they will leave you alone. Another BIG plus is that there are security everywhere! Had a great romantic get-away for sure.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Lovely New Resort
We enjoyed the lovely amenities of this resort. Nice buffet meals with tasty selection of fruits and veggies, rice and beans, fish, meat and cheeses. My one critique is that meat and fishes were somewhat overcooked and therefore dry and lacking taste. However there were lots of other options like cold meats. Yummy omelettes were available each morning made to order and superb. There were a la carte eateries where one can reserve for a particular evening. There was also a hamburger and fries eate[... read more]ry a few steps up from the boardwalk. Great hamburgers. Alcohol and non alcohol beveridges were available in abundance.
Cuban people are LOVELY well groomed, pleasant people who always seemed to be smiling with their eyes. Conversation with them revealed positive, grateful ambitious people. Most travel daily two hours by bus each way from the nearest town, but do not complain. There seems to be an "Attitude of Gratitude" among staff.
The grounds are well kept with several pools, lounge areas, gym and spa. A board walk borders the water front. The water is a magnificent aquamarine which depending on the wind/breeze can show at least three shades of that color.
My only disappointment was that there is no beach between the waters edge and the resort. I enjoy being able to walk the beach. Pillar Beach is nearby but requires a hike or bus ride up the highway, neither of which I enjoy.
The resort has several guest hotel units spread through the resort. Access to theses is by well maintained walkways bordered by well managed garden beds.
We had a very pleasant stay

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Returning Vacationers!
This was our second time to the Iberostar Costa Dorada. We were not disappointed!
The staff at this resort are by far the friendliest and helpful of any resort we have been
to. Attention to detail. Our maid Felicia did a fantastic job looking after us.We had everything
we needed. Anything we asked for it was in our room! Beautiful towel art every day! Our
server, Sarita looked after us every meal. We were showered with hugs every day!
The resort is in need of some updating, but the room[... read more]s are very clean and the resort is
very well maintained. The food is excellent. Lots of selection. We would definitely
return again.
