Melia Peninsula Varadero: A good bang for the buck

Overall a very decent resort. Very good food for our standards, decent room, amazing beach and relatively friendly service. Resort is clean with the exception of the lobby washroom which could use some overhaul; for example: some urinals don't work, most of the time there is no paper towel, several times there was no soap and usually about half of the stalls don't have toilet paper. Besides the lobby washrooms, the whole experience in general was quite plesent. I would recommend this resort.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: A very relaxing spot

Gorgeous resort. Extremely well maintained grounds in the Royal Service section. The dinning room staff provided excellent service. Thankyou Ida. You served excellent cappuccino. Well attended beach. Excellent service with smile by Mila. Thank you all. Limited menu in the French restaurant. French food was just ok. Service was slow too. Was our 3rd trip. Might come again. 👏

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Resort great

Rooms where comfortable. Need to offer more storage drawers for clothing. Shower needs to be updated., suggestion.,walk in shower and remove narrow bathtub. Very unsafe having to climb into a tub with shower curtain inside tub to shower. Safer to just step into a shower. Also put frosted window in shower or just remove window. Rest of resort great . Staff very friendly and loved personal servers delivering cocktails to us..

Melia Las Antillas: Decent resort

Hotel is older and dated but its still pleasant enough. Had basic room but changed to one quieter near back of resort. Pool and beach were awesome..only downfall were all the sand flea bites we both got from beach. Had no complaints about the food for Cuba. Tipping will get you better service. Staff friendly with the exception of a couple. Overall good trip. Will go back to Varadero at some point.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Amazing Beach

The hotel is clearly still recovering from the hurricane. However, the beach is what we went for and it definitely delivered. Stunning!!!! The only complaints are that there were rarely clean beach towels for us to Exchange. So in a week we were able to exchange twice. Complaint number 2 is that a lot of the staff did not speak English. Customer service could barely understand us or communicate at all. But I guess that because of the hurricane a lot of English speaking workers left because they  [... read more]had to work, so it makes sense. Other than that the resort is small and cozy. Beautiful grounds and an amazing beach.

Melia Cayo Coco: Home away from home

If you want a place that treats you like family look no further then Melia Cayo Coco. This was our second time to this resort and a lot of the staff remember you from the previous year. We have many so many new friends staff and people as this resort is small so you see these people everyday when you are there. This hotel is a 5 plus in our books.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Would recommend!

We just returned from a one week stay with our two children ages 10 & 12. The staff were amazing! Always greeted with a warm smile and willing to help. (The lady making the breakfast omelets was so sweet!) Beach was beautiful spent most of our time there. Lots of palapa and loungers. The food was okay (we didn’t go hungry or get sick). Beach buffet had a nice bbq going at lunch that we all enjoyed and the Japanese al-carte was very entertaining. All in all we were very happy with our experie [... read more]nce! We always felt very safe, had a lot of fun and left with no complaints.

Melia Las Dunas: Stellar Vacation

I had a blast at this resort. Plenty of things to do. The food was amazing and the staff were so warm and friendly. The beach was in rough shape but that was to be expected due to the hurricane. Definitely will be going back!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Fantastic Resort!

Resort was great! Staff were very friendly and helpful! Food was not bad not a big selection to choose from same selection everyday. Beach was amazing as well as swim up pool on the Royal service side food was a lot better. Fitness Centre was good however was not very big and was very busy especially early in the morning.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: friendly staff

I thought the grounds were lovely. The staff did an amazing job to get the hotel up and running after the hurricane. The beach was picture perfect, beautiful blue ocean with the forever white sand beach. The first room was a bit musty, we were moved the next day and the room was excellent. I loved the small resort, easy to walk to everything. the restaurants were very good, always found something we liked. Especially enjoyed the international restaurant. overall a great place for a holiday.

Melia Marina Varadero: Gets better & better....we'll be going back!

We visited the MMV two years in a row and noticed right away that they had made a lot of improvements since last year. For the 2nd time, we stayed in a spacious All-Inclusive Studio Marina Apartment which included a handy kitchenette (sink, stove, MCW, dishes), large closet w/plenty of hangers, king size bed, couch, table/chairs and a safe. When you stay in the apartment buildi [... read more]ngs (condos), you have access to the private roof top pool which is located between buildings 2 and 3. The private pool bar is open from 10 to 6 with friendly bartenders who make the best drinks ever (you rock Juan Carlos). They have a small assortment of munchies but don't go to the pool bar 'hangry' expecting a big meal. We always bring munchies with us to Cuba...pringles, nuts, candy, etc. The resort is spread out so be prepared to walk a bit, however, if you're not in the mood to walk off the food and beverages...just call for a pick up from your room or flag down a golf cart driver. These guys are the best! They love to joke with you and they're so friendly and personable. We called for pick ups several times a day as someone in our party had a sore foot. There are plenty of markets a few minutes walk (or golf cart ride) down the pier to buy your souvenirs. The vendors will barter a little and are very nice to deal with. This is also where you’d go if you’re doing a water excursion. The staff are much more attentive in the buffet and in the lobby this year. We were very happy about this as getting a drink in the lobby bar last year was a struggle at times. Kudos to the management for implementing these improvements. The depth of the beach is much larger than it was last year. There are staff there to help you get your loungers setup and the beach bar serves refreshing drinks. They also have staff getting your drink orders from your beach chair. The beach restaurant is a great spot to take in lunch and the amazing view from the hill top. The food has really improved here. Don’t forget to tip the wait staff, the golf cart drivers, your maid, etc. The staff work hard whether they’re tipped or not. We brought gift items that are hard or expensive for them to buy in Cuba (shavers, deodorant, Ibuprofen, bandaids, antibiotic cream, etc) as well as a few bags of baby clothes. They’re so appreciative. When I handed Laura (7 mths pregnant) two bags of baby clothes, we both had tears in our eyes. Luckily, Laura was having a girl and I had brought girl clothes. There was a breeze most nights which kept the no-see-ums away. The 24-hour snack bar by the big pool could improve on what food they have available for the late arrivals, but you’ll find something to fill the hole. This hotel is one of the last drop offs from the airport which could take up to 1 to 1 ½ hours. The bathrooms on the bus are unusable. If you’re in a hurry to get to the hotel and get working on your all-inclusive stay, I would suggest taking a taxi (confirm the fare first). If you want to venture into Varadero, ask a golf cart driver to drop you off at the bus stop. It’s $5 per person for the entire day. Be sure to keep your bus ticket. There are plenty of markets, restaurants, bars and site seeing to be had. Be prepared to pay $1 to use a public washroom. Have fun in Cuba!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Melia Jardines Del Rey

The resort was beautiful but very large and not equipped for all the people. The rooms were always very clean and maid service was excellent. Buffet was not large enough or open long enough hours to satisfy the flow of people. Most trays were empty as soon as they set them down, I waited 1 hours in the pasta line once I got it , it was worth waiting for . Then when you went to sit down to eat all you saw was a sea of dirty tables. Food was always cold by the time you got it. Not enough fres [... read more]h fruits and vegetables. No beach towels for 2 days. No vermouth for martini's. Line up for drinks always, not enough bar tenders. We found one place that was good for lunch by the pool it was excellent but had to wait in line to get in we usually didn't eat lunch until 2pm. the other snack bar didn't even acknowledge our entry and we waited 15 minutes no one came. The topper was that you couldn't flush you toilet paper down the toilets at all or it would back up. I felt I was camping at an outhouse.

Sol Palmeras: Nice resort

The staff is very friendly, grounds are beautifully, beach is the best, there was always enough chairs on the beach. The service was generally good, the espresso coffee not so good I was surprised because Cubans have good coffee. The food was o.k you have quite a few choices of restaurants, but you don’t go to Cuba for food. All in all it,s a clean hotel people are friendly. We are looking forward to next year to go again Cuba is a second home for us this has been out 10th trip to Varadero.

Hotel Camino del Mar: My Cuba vacation memories

Well, typical of Cuba the white sand beach was wide and clean, the sun was bright and warm, the water was crystal clear and warm. The resort grounds needed some attention but this was understandable due to the hurricane damage. My room was in need of some T.L.C. some stucco pealing, drawer missing in dresser, toilet would not fully flush !!, but the room service / cleaning was good and my bed was comfortable and clean. The employees from the grounds maintenance, attendants, staff, and transportation was great.

Melia Cayo Coco: Another amazing time at Melia Cayo Coco!

Out third time to Melia Cayo Coco. They have done an incredible job with recovery after Hurrican Irma. The staff at the resort always go out of their way to make your vacation very special. We will be back!

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great beach but resort not so much!

We had booked this resort based on recommendation from travel agent. Hotel was very old and dated. Although much has been done since Hurricane Irma I believe the hotel has much to improve as it appears that it was hurting before the storm. We booked premium ocean view. The view was breathtaking and the beach was incredible. With premium ocean view we were to have priority check in. This did not happen and we were last to be checked in. Upon arrival to room we were very disappointed. Front door  [... read more]would only open a foot after forcing it. Cupboard doors would not close, tv had to be replaced as it would come on and off by itself on a channel that was not in operation so would screech, so had to unplug it. No towels including beach towels and fridge were not stocked as promised with premium package. We also did not have a phone in the room so would have to go to front desk to resolve issues. Customer service were very quick to change tv, stock fridge and towels apologizing for error. On our last night we had to be moved as our door could not open at all. We were moved next door and the room was so much better. We also realized we were able to breathe better making us wonder if the other room had mold in the air conditioning unit. Being that we booked premium we had ala cartel reservations for suppers each evening and one night a lobster dinner was included. We are so thankful for the ala carte resteraunts as the buffet was horrible. The food choices lacked variety, were cold and did not look appetizing. Service was horrible and you could finish your entire meal and never be offered a drink. Right outside the buffet and snack bar was a lagoon. The smell that came from this area was putrid and would turn you off of food! The men’s washroom outside these areas was also not working the entire week so the women’s washroom was used by. The ala carte resteraunts were very good. Service was wonderful and food was good and hot. The international was our favourite and we were lucky to eat there three times. Bar service was slow and drinks were never the same when ordered. Entertainment in the evening was good. Pool and beach area had no washrooms close to the area for people to use and it did appear that the pool may have been used as a toilet. Luckily we are beach people and the beach is just amazing. We could spend hours and since it was so large you felt like you were the only one there. We made the best of it but I cannot recommend this resort to anyone. Many may think I am being picky as “we were in Cuba” but there needs to be standards met to keep people safe ie) food prep, hygienic conditions.

Paradisus Varadero: Paradisus not quite paradise

The staff tried to save this trip. They were lovely and they did what they could to make this vacation fun. The food was cold, not cooked thoroughly and very bland. I ate raw meatballs, sausage, and hamburgers. The drinks were good, however, only served in super small glasses. Not sure if this was to make more tips or minimize the drunks. The beach is absolutely beautiful. Bring spray for the sand fleas. Probably the worst 5 star vacation I have ever been to. They are lucky to have such nice staff, or this review would be MUCH worse.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Best Trip Ever

The beach goes on and on with snorkelling by just stepping into the clear water. Ocean view rooms with great views! Good food and the best hotel staff EVER! Amazing snorkelling with ‘Jo’. So easy to book! Going back next year! Thank you Tripcentral and Gina for the best trip ever!!

Paradisus Varadero: Great beach and entertainment

Loved the smaller size of the resort and close proximity to the beach. Our room was great with an updated bathroom with a rain shower just steps from the beach. The beach offers soft sand and beautiful shells to find on a morning stroll. I loved doing the ocean aerobics. The resort offers many activities on the beach and the pool, the dance lessons are so much fun. The front open concept lobby was a Mecca for mojitos and a beautiful view of the beach and pelicans. I mention the pelicans because [... read more] they would soar across the beach so proudly. The drinks were great and I can't say enough about the great service. Some tips, ice cream cones at the buffet, cappuccino is best in the lobby, the chicken wings at the snack bar are great and the omelette bar for breakfast is worth the few minutes of waiting. Irene, Yuci and Yhira do an amazing job. Overall a great experience and I would go back. The food is fine and there is always something to choose. its a cultural experience to meet the people, try the food and slow down to listen to the music. I've brought kids colouring books, stickers and markers to share with staff.
