Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Love the Sanctuary!

I have found my little piece of heaven in Cuba. ♥️ Everything is better than expected. Second time to this resort and there will be a third. This resort has the most professional and impressive friendly food manager too that introduces himself to everyone. Such a credit to this resort.

Club Tropical: Great time in Cuba

Everything was great except for the loud music playing till 11PM. But hey its Varadero and it is like that at other resorts also. The omelets in the morning were very good. You can choose what you wanted in it. The buffet had always something to chose from. The location was awesome. We were right on the beach. You could walk out the front door and walk around downtown Varadero. We found a great pizza place. The staff were always friendly.

Before I get into the nitty gritty of the resort, I wanted to preface my review by saying that the staff here are absolutely wonderful. Everyone was extremely friendly and eager to please. Also, the beach is hard to beat - the water is beautiful. Unfortunately I found the resort to look a bit tired... It could definitely benefit from a coat of paint in all the rooms and restaurants. Our room has scuff marks and hand prints on almost every wall. Our bathroom had an odd smell which I attribute to [... read more] what looked like painted-over mould on the ceiling (in the corner). Our bathtub was missing the drain plug which was disappointing when I went to try and have a bath. The water is rarely warmer than lukewarm which is pretty unpleasant to shower in... Many of the a la carte restaurants had very sad looking decor and extremely battered light fixtures and tables/chairs. Our fabric napkins had paint on them in almost every restaurant we ate at. The food is mediocre - we only ate at the main buffet once as the food was really not good. We chose to eat at the Sanctuary's restaurant for breakfast and lunch every day which was usually pretty good. A few times I had rice that was completely under cooked. The only 2 a la carte restaurants that I would recommend are the Oriental and the Sanctuary's Paradise restaurant. The restaurants were out of bacon by our first day there, out of tomatoes and tomato sauce by the second day, and out of champagne/sparkling wine by the third day... and they did not get any of these items back in stock before we left. I know that this resort has a very high repeat customer rate, and as far as Cuba goes, it's not bad... however I would much prefer a resort elsewhere that doesn't run out of food for days at a time and has rooms that don't look like a cheap hotel... Did I have a good time still? Absolutely. I go for the beach. The food was mediocre, but the beach and the good service we had definitely helps to counteract the negatives.

Excellent location, wonderful 🏖 friendly people and great relaxation resort. Being close to all amenities was a plus for us. This is my 5th time back to the same hotel after trying few others and now this is the one for me and my vacation resort.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Fabulous Staff

Have been to this hotel a couple of times over the years. But a few years ago I wrote that I wouldn’t go back. The food was awful even for Cuba. But we made some wonderful friends there and we decided to try the resort again. It was mainly because of the food that we didn’t want to go back. But we liked that it was small hotel easy to get around. The food this time around has improved a lot, and really the staff is just amazing. The cleaning staff, entertainment, managers, gardeners. The staff could not do enough for us. The rooms are nice and big, just not enough lighting, beds are very comfortable, some of the rooms are a bit dated, but bed, and bathroom is clean. Going into Varadero the hop on hop off bus is directly outside the hotel. It comes every 15 minutes and costs $5.00 for the whole day. The entertainment in the evening was excellent. They had a different theme every night. We only did one of the 3 alcarte restaurants. It was the Romantica it was very good. The beach was great and the entertainment staff had a lot of people participate. The Pool area was nice, But they don’t have a swim up bar. We are now planning to go back again next year to the same hotel. Can’t wait!

Melia Las Antillas: Amazing vacation

Great staff, good food and beautiful beaches. We felt safe leaving the resort and taking the bus to explore varadero. We went to craft market and local shopping center. I strongly suggest doing the Jeep Safari and Havana excursion.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Above average Cuban resort

Hotel is nice, 2 years old, but low craftmenship is obvious considering cracked tiles and non-functioning doors etc. Food was good, not great varieties, but much better quality then expected. Beaches in Varadero never disapoint, so this time is the same. Staff is very friendly, quick service, much quicker with a few CUC (Cuban Pesos) tip. Sports bar open 24 hours have very good menu and friendly staff. Highly recommended spot.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Awesome times!!

This resort is like non other. The staff is friendly and helpful. Always something to do day and night. Was a very great getaway!! I can’t wait to go back. I will and already have recommended to friends and family

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Nice resort

We traveled with Air Canada Vacations, 2 adults and one kid in Nov 2019. This was our first time in Varadero. The resort grounds and pools are nice, well maintained. The beach is ok, although there are lots of palapas on the beach, the only way to claim one would have been to get there at 7 AM. In terms of food, it is the typical cuban experience. The entertainment was good. Bring a mug or a reusable cup, as they might ran out of plastic cups. For those who are used with the ocean at Cayo Coco or Holguin, be aware that it is rough especially when it's windy. Overall the resort was good, it served our purpose of getting warm and visiting Havana.

Melia Las Americas: Fabulous resort, amazing vacation!!

Melia Las Americas was an awesome resort with lovely people and great service. Beautiful beach, grounds and pools. I have been to different resorts across Cuba and the food here is the best I've had so far! Really enjoyed the a la carte restaurants and the variety in the buffet restaurant - wow! Had a fabulous week and will return for sure! If you are a golfer, the course is beautiful...especially the 18th!

Melia Las Americas: Great All Round Resort

Resort clean/well kept, attn to detail very good, staff. Food good/plentiful. Staff efficient/friendly/helpful. Entertainment in lobby most nites as well in theatre. Lots of lounge chairs/great beach. Very popular for 18 hole golf - would definitely return

Melia Las Americas: Keeps Getting Better!

This was our third visit and it just keeps getting better! The most impressive change was the quality of the food. It was wonderful! The beach is stunning and the rooms never disappoint. The golf course was busy but very accommodating. We will be planning our next visit soon!

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Nice vacation

I was overall satisfied with our vacation. Rooms are spacious but we had a room on the first floor without a view and there was strange smell in the room. I don't know if we could ask for another room on higher floor without additional payment. Food and entertainment were very good.

Grand Memories Varadero: Good resort!

The resort was nice, very clean, only downside was the lack of choices for food. Customer service was amazing, changed rooms when we asked for it. Staff was amazing super fun. Pools were clean and crowd was mix of ages.

The hotel was great, Beth is a very professional, She always was on top to resolve every single issue and concern, The only problem was with the mediterranean restaurant, Their food is not clean, I found a small piece of Stainless Steel Scouring Pad in my Pasta

Blau Varadero: Terrific Resort

This adults only resort is just what the doctor ordered...you are free to relax or participate in the many activities offered at the resort....my husband and I will definitely come back to the Blau Varadero...we have NO complaints...everything was perfect!

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Awesome vacay in Cuba

The hotel was amazingly upkept and clean for such a large resort Clean room, friendly staff Service was A+ Typical of Cuban resorts the food was what we expected. Regardless, there was always something we could eat Our only negative is the halls and stairways need to be kept clean. Overall I’d rate this resort at least a 4

Beautiful and clean resort. Only issue we had was a broken toilet seat which was fixed shortly after staff were notified. Good variety of food. Staff were all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Overall a great stay and we would book here again.

Beautiful Place, I travelled with my family of 10, Everyone enjoyed the stay there People are wonderful, Food was okay, Always something to eat, Maids are awesome. Waiters and waitresses are awesome. We will surely go back, My little grandkids loved the place, They Love the People..

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Great Resort but dust/noise from lobby construction blows onto pool area

We have enjoyed this resort many times - good location/close to live entertainment/very good hotel shows, especially the excellent R&R band that had everyone up dancing, the friendly and welcoming staff, very good food and restaurants, proximity to the beach... The sole problem that we experienced with the hotel, and we were alerted to the construction only after we booked, was the noise and dust around the pool from the lobby re-construction. We are requesting a cash rebate because of this [... read more], no advanced warning prior to booking, flight delays and placing us in dangers in frigid conditions without any hotel compensation in TO to avoid the weather and delays. This was compounded by the fact that our Sunwing flight # 685 to Toronto was delayed by 1.5 hours arriving and taking off. Surprisingly, the airport monitor said it was on time and them just prior to the general boarding time, the flight disappeared from the monitor (we have the pics), there was no one at the boarding station, and it seems as though the information agent went into hiding, negating any contact with family members in TO. When the plane was boarded, there was no orderly by seat # calls. We arrived in the middle of the night (330) to approx -20 wind chill and a dangerous drive home at that time, which induces drivers falling asleep at the wheel.
