Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: VERY NICE HOLIDAY

HELLO ALL, WE JUST RETURNED FROM BE LIVE MARIEN AFTER A RELAXING WEEK, THE HOTEL IS VERY CLEAN THE STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND THANKFULLY THE AIR CONDITIONING WORKED LIKE A CHARM, WE STAYED IN A STANDARD ROOM BUILDING 3 WHICH WAS VERY NICE, WELL APPOINTED, BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE, SHEETS AND LINEN APPEARED FAIRLY NEW, GREAT WATER PRESSURE IN SHOWER AND PLENTY OF HOT WATER, MAID SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT AND MINI BAR WAS STOCKED DAILY, THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND NO ONE HAD ANY ISSUES, THE BUFFET WAS BETT [... read more]ER THAN MOST ALL INCLUSIVES THAT I HAVE BEEN TO, THE ONLY THING I COULD POSSIBLY COMPLAIN ABOUT WAS THE BREAKFAST SELECTION DID NOT CHANGE A LOT, BUT HERES THIS COMPLAINT COMING FROM A GUY WHO EATS TOAST ,FRIED EGG AND A COFFEE FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS FOR BREAKFAST, FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ENJOY BEVERAGES BY THE POOL THERE IS NO POOL SIDE SERVICE OR POOL BAR, DURING THE SUMMER THERE ARE A LOT OF LOCALS ON THE WEEK ENDS, WE BOOKED DINNER IN THE RESTARANTS FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, THE SNACK BAR HAD A VERY GOOD MENUE AND WAS USUALLY OPEN, GREAT CHICKEN WINGS AND BURGERS AND FRIES, AND SOME PRETTY GOOD THIN CRUST PIZZA ALONG WITH SALADS, ENTERTAINMENT AT NIGHT WAS HIT AND MISS BUT THATS A PERSONAL CHOICE. WE DID SEE THE JUNIOR SUITE UNIT WHICH WAS REALLY NICE AND YOU CAN HAVE AN ATTACHED STANDARD ROOM FOR AN EXTRA $70 A NIGHT WHICH I THINK WAS WORTH IT, JUST EMAIL THE HOTEL AND THEY WILL ARRANGE THE UP GRADE AS IT WAS NOT OFFERED ON THE TOUR PACKAGES. NOW I REALLY DONT HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HOTEL BUT I THINK THESE SUGGESTIONS WOULD MAKE IT THAT MUCH BETTER. 1- HAVE 1 OR 2 PERSONS WORKING THE POOL SIDE BEVERAGE SERVICE. 2- SUN UMBRELLAS FOR AROUND THE POOL AS SHADED AREAS ARE AT A PREMIUM IN THE AFTERNOON, 3- A HOT TUB WOULD BE A NICE ADDITION TO THE POOL AREA, WE BOOKED THIS TRIP AS A LAST MINUTE GETAWAY, PAID $750 FLIGHT INCLUDED AND UPON RETURNING WE BELIVE WE GOT A GREAT DEAL, AND WERE ACTUALLY LOOKING TO GO BACK IN AUGUST HOWEVER THE PRICE IS NOW $1100+ SO WE ARE GOING TO SAMANA INSTEAD. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU BRING A THERMAL MUG, WE BROUGHT 2 , A LARGE ONE FOR BEER AND A SMALL ONE FOR COFFEE AND COCKTAILS, SOME FRANKS HOT SAUCE FOR YOUR EGGS AND WINGS, A RELAXED ATTITUDE AS THIS IS NOT CANADA AND A SMILE, HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A HEALTHY, HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAY

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Fun upbeat resort

I thought the resort was older and was tried to be well maintained. However I did not find the pools or rooms very clean. The staff was very fun & upbeat! They made you feel welcome and also had fun with you. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The food was ok but nothing special. Overall the staff made the experience such a great one!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Nice place

Resort was nice , workers and staff where pleasant. Did not like the pushy time share people.... Could of been a little more organized with the places and show times. The excursion where not the closest to the resort. The transat person "Freddy " was good

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing Resort

The staff here are above amazing. Beautiful resort. Gardens are superior. Meals are fantastic, with Sandos our waiter you couldn't ask for better. Evening shows are great, The Lion King and Michael Jackson wonderful. Very large pool, always clean. Beach fantastic with a bit of coral to attract the fish. Security always on the beach. Rooms always clean, Maria was the best. Any problem in the room was fixed immediately. Overall I would rate Iberostar Costa Dorada above a 5 Star level.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Great Trip

The staff was very friendly which made it even better. Was quiet since off season and I enjoyed that the most. The animation team always made sure that everyone as having fun by joining in on games or inviting the guest to participate.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort ! Amazing staff !

The beach, resort and staff were all outstanding. Bladimir helped organize a majority of the daily events during my week stay. Friendly, energetic and really got into the games. Very sincere and enjoyed asking questions about homelife. Most nights he would head over and host or help whatever entertainment show was going on that night. A talented young man. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Better than expected

The resort was beautiful well maintained and clean. Our jr suite oceanview room was great. We saw no bugs the whole time we were there. The buffet restaurant was good as buffets go. The al la carte restaurants we went to Mexican, Indian and the Brazil were excellent. The only down side was the sales pressure to buy time share but we dealt with that.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Average resort

Although the staff was extremely up beat and helpful, it could not detract from the fact that the resort is dated and in need of a facelift. The food was decent and the buffet had a selection for everyone. I strongly reccomend that you try the Japanese restaurent at least once. The rooms were clean, however every morning I would wake up witha sore throat and believe that it is due to the cleanliness of the AC unit's filters. My major problem was with the pool. There was a continuous oily film on the water and debris that never seemed to leave...almost as if the filteration system was not working. The employees tried their best to clean the pool, but it never worked. In all, for the price I paid, I expected more.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great resort

We stayed here May 31 to June 7. The hotel is very nice. The grounds are well maintained and the staff are very helpful. The food is excellent though we ate mostly at the buffet and only tried the Asian restaurant. The only place for improvement would be the quality of the beach which had lots of seaweed. Overall, you can't go wrong with this resort, especially for the price

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great resort!

Everything is excellent services, entertainment, beach, grounds, pools, food, staff but the sand flies and bed bugs were killing us. Too bad because this resort is amazing otherwise. If it weren't for the bugs, I would go there again for sure.

The hotel is beautiful, the beach has a lot of sandflies. The rooms were very clean and decorated. The staff were very friendly especially the animation team, the buffet and the front office reception staff. Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Exceeded expectations

This report was very convenient, all amenities were nice and close. The pool was very clean as well as the beach. Food was good we found something everyday. We travelled in May with 6 adults and 2 toddlers, all the staff were very helpful with the kids. The rooms could definatly use updating but they were always clean.

Resort was nice and clean. Food was pretty good. Entertainment staff were the best part of the trip. There were activities to participate in constantly. Beach and pool were very nice and where we spent all of our time.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Fun times

I really have no complaints other than the washrooms could have been bigger. The food was good. The staff was polite. One thing I would change is to have entertainment during the day as well and everyone should have access to equal property

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Beautiful resort

The resort was impeccable, nice and clean, small buildings with spacious rooms with balcony. The food was great with a lot of variety, fresh fruits, beautiful meat and interesting dishes to try. The staff was always polite and friendly. We would definitely go back with our children. We enjoyed long walks on the beach everyday.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Our favourite resort so far!!!

My husband and I recently returned from a one week stay at the Iberostar and we already can't wait to go back! The pool was huge and had deep and shallow areas which was nice. The food was excellent with a lot of variety, we only did the Mexican a la carte which wasn't bad but we preferred the buffet. The staff always had a smile on their face and did what they could to look after their guests. Our room was spotless and super close to the pool which we loved (7004). The gym was surprisingly well [... read more] equipped, spacious and played great music. We didn't go to every show at night but the ones we saw were really well done. If you are a beach lover/ocean swimmer this might not be the resort for you as the water is pretty rough but there was still people swimming and the beach was nice to walk along. On the afternoon of our wedding anniversary we came back to our room to find a bottle of champagne which was very thoughtful! This was the first resort we stayed at with free wifi and it was great to have when it was rainy- no issues with connection. My only complaint (which is not really directed to the resort) is the local vendor night. We couldn't even look at the items they were selling because they were so pushy and would not accept "I'm just looking" as an answer. I would have really liked to buy a ring or bracelet but didn't because I felt so overwhelmed. Aside from that, I have nothing to complain about! I would 100% recommend this resort to my friends and family and we will most definitely be back :)

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Relaxing Vacation

Spent a week with my daughter and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The weather was amazing, sun was hot, pool refreshing and the AC cold. The food was good and there were was a lot of variety. As others have noted there are sand fleas and other bugs but don't let this deter, you just be prepared as some seem to be bothered more than others. Plenty of activities and you do as little or as much as you want and we went to relax.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Extra clean, beautiful and excellent staff.

My family and I visited Gran Ventana in mid May. The weather was amazing, always hot (over 30 C), but humidity was quite high. I think, we had only one time that it rained and last for 10 min. The food was excellent. Many dishes to choose from. Always fresh! Staff was amazing. Very helpful and accommodating. We spent the mornings at the beach because it wasn't too windy, and after the lunch we usually stayed at the swimming pool. Since May is off season the hotel wasn't fully occupied. I [... read more]t was actually a good thing because you don't need to worry about finding spot on the beach or by the pool. Also, less noise! We had our rooms in the Saona building, close to the main buffet and the pool. No mosquito bites!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Wonderful resort

We enjoyed everything about the place. Our room overlooked the pool and was most centrally located. All staff were kind and helpful. Food was varied and excellent, desserts were even better. Place is well kept. Keep in mind this is not a 5 star so expect what you pay for. The only negative for me were the weeds on the beach. One other point. I understood the trip was a direct flight before booking. Turned out to be direct only when going there (41/2 hrs) but return included a stop at Punta  [... read more]Cana which made it a 61/2 hour flight. So be careful to check both flights.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: WONDERFUL VACATION

The resort was more than I expected. The Pool was large and clean and we were able to get chairs every day for 6. We did not use the beach as it was very windy. The resort offered many areas to sit and enjoy an evening drink and conversation before dinners.
