Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Good Vacation

The airline should improve the services for Vacation Flights as to going back to larger seats so people are not crammed in like cattle and the airline authorities should bring back the service of a meal when the flight is a long one. They should take into account that the 'cattle' have already been at the airport for 3 additional hours before departure. We enjoyed the resort as a whole but there were some things that could be improved as follows: The privilege amenities were not in the room whe [... read more]n we arrived and were not provided until the next day after 2 phone calls were made. Door to the balcony would not lock and they would not fix it. They booked our free massage for a day that they are closed and it was a long walk from our bldg to the parlor. We were compensated with an extra free massage later on which eased the pain (lol). However we were not impressed with the masseuse who demanded a larger tip than we were prepared to give. The masseur later stepped in to the argument and things were resolved. The concierge (Janko) told us to come see him on Wed for a booking into the Italian Restaurant as we told him on the first day that we wanted to eat there. Wed came and on looking for him, guess what......it was his day off. However the 2 other concierges that were on site that day resolved this (most thanks to them). At the pool every day was an experience trying to find the attendant responsible for the "pads" to lay on. It could take up to an hour to find him and half the time he was not on the site at all. Other than these things, the Privilege is the only way to go as long as the prices are kept in check to make it worthwhile. The staff were very friendly and were grateful for the tips provided which in turn made for better service (a little goes a long way). We sure enjoyed the beach, pool, heat and listening to the ocean. Our room location was as nice as could be expected face on and overlooking the pool. Overall it was a nice experience.

Melia Las Dunas: A great resort!

We spent 2 weeks at the Melia Las Dunas along with 2 other couples. First time at this resort, but have been to many other resorts in Cuba and Dominican. We did not have an issue with anything the entire two weeks. We contacted the resort before going and asked for 3 rooms sise by side n the 48-49 area and we got it. We went to the Romanica, Italian, Pizza and seafood Ala cartes. The seafood was good, but no choices for different dishes. The Italian was great, but the waitress was not the best. [... read more] Other two were great. The staff everywhere were great, friendly and there to please you. The resort is dated, but they are spending money to bring it up. Great beach with lots of chairs and staff to get you chairs if you can't find them. I highly recommend this resort and I have read a couple not so great reviews on it and it baffles me as to how they could rate it not great. I will say that the trip to the resort via Air Transat was not good. We were delayed 2 and a half hours in Halifax because of a faulty plane. There was not an apology for this although I realize it could not be helped and the some of the flight staff were not very friendly during the flight. They did not even offer a free beer etc because we were late. Air Transat no longer offers biscuits, cookies etc free either on there flights. It shows they are in it for the money and don't care about their customers.The flight back was very good though.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Had one of the best holidays.

The Valentin Parla Blanca Was everything I asked for in my 2017 holiday to Cuba. The room was as good as any I've been to. The service staff was always there to help. The small tips where greatly apriciatied with big smiles and a thank you. I am a positive person and the positive Karma came back ten fold. Our last sun set this holiday will be seen another time

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Well worth every penny paid for !!

Well maintained Cuban owned Resort. Food is exceptionally good with variety of food for everyone. No one eats better even at home, with little understanding to Cuban people and Cuban habits. As any Cuban resort they are a bit ignorant for orders in a reception bar, but reason lies in tipping them constantly and because those are the people making exceptional kind of money for Cuban society - Yes those people have become a little "westernised" and if you don't tip them there will be poor service  [... read more]! They should be rotated with other hard working people inside resort and it would be much more appreciation of us a guests - my personal opinion ! Wanted to go to Deep Sea Fishing for ($80) CUC 80/per person, but organisation of Sunwing Representative was very very poor with No Understanding at all , following a simple rule of theirs that they have to fill all 4 spots on a boat all at once, or otherwise they can NOT and they are NOT willing to search for you for other interested party . It left me with choice to pay ($US) CUC400 on my own or wait for 7 days for Sunwing action, and go home without possibility of going to deep sea fishing at all - which excactly happened to me . Very Very dissapointed with that !!??

Melia Las Dunas: This is a nice resort.

This is a very large resort.First the staff are amazing our maid kept our room very clean, air conditioner worked well.The beds are very hard could invest in softer mattresses.The lobby had entertainment every night the food was good for Cuba.There are markets on either side of the resort one within walking distance and the other a ten minute taxi drive.The beeches are beautiful lots of white sand.Check in was a breeze the people are so nice and friendly. Grand Memories Santa Maria: Nice resort

Everything was really good except the internet connection complete crap, super friendly and helpful staff. Beaches are beautiful to say the least. Food was good even for a picky eater like myself. All in all i would recommend.

Memories Paraiso: Resort great, Flight not so much

The resort was fantastic. The staff were always there wThen you needed something and very kind and helpful. Everything was very convenient. The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. I have never seen such a beautiful beach before. It was very well kept and there were employees that would get you anything from the bar. I would definitely go back. I just wish I didn't have to fly out of Toronto and I would not fly Air Canada Rouge but I would definitely go back to Memories Paraiso Azul [... read more].

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Very nice resort but ...

The resort is very nice. The room we got was excellent (in building#9), we are close to everything, can see the ocean and the pool (we were able to watch one of the night pool show right from our room). Our maid was excellent, he was very friendly and helpful! However, the customer service in this resort needs improvement. We have been to two other resorts in Cuba and servers would remember us and what we like to drink but this one is definitely not the same. Roc Lagunas del Mar: Good

Really nice looking resort, fairly clean, decent food, nice beach although it was a little rocky, nice staff, but the hotel needs a little bit of general maintenance, ie paint and touch ups. If it doesn't get the maintenance it needs, then it won't be very nice in the coming years.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Good resort for the price

Resort is a little bit worn down but it was what we were expecting. Well worth the money. Great service. Beaches have to be the best in the world. Fun and inexpensive excursions were available. Nice market with a great steakhouse. The repetitive music was a bit annoying.

Melia Las Dunas: Amazing

This resort was great. Our second time there. Staff wonderful. Bathroom at pool area a little off at times. But anyone that complains they should go to another resort. Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Simply wonderful week! Wish there was more shade at the beach, as those areas seem to go right away and a lot of people continue to look for same. However, we will be back!

As above. Wish there was more shade at the beachfront as several were unable to find same and wandered as we did - but otherwise a simply amazing resort. Somewhat put off by the accepted practice of saving pool chairs by using hotel towels and then not coming to use them for hours and hours while others do without. Somehow there needs to be a better system. But, we will be back!

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Needs improvement

Arrived late April 5. Check in was fast and was taken to our room. We were in bungalow 24, Great location. Close to 24 hr grill and the beach. Hamburgers were great, Service was great there and the omettles were tasty in the morning. Our room was dirty when we arrived. Toilet seat broken, strong smell of urine, lip marks all over shower window. Our fridge was empty as well, broken safe. I told them the next day and the safe and fridge issue was resolved. The only thing the maid did all week was make the bed. Lip marks and broken toilet all week. Resort is Beautiful ... pools and beaches, amazing entertainment, the Cubans were amazing as always. I tipped but when I didn't it was never an issue. This was our 6th time to Santa Maria. Stayed at different resorts. This resort had the best food. In all honesty they are all the same. If you go to the right of the beach to the end you can go naked. Lots of topless people on the beach. Loved that it was adults only. Service was really good. The only issue was the cleanliness... the room and bathrooms on the resort. Something really needs to be done, it's disgusting. We noticed on the drive back to Santa Clara the amount of garbage everywhere. Something that was never an issue before. I'm not a picky person and love santa maria but things are going downhill. Doesn't take much to clean. We also found it windier at this part of the island Tips: take cleaning wipes, bug spray, 60 sunscreen, hat. Hand sanitizer. Only use the internet in the morning, and it does work from your room. 1 hour 1.50 peso card. If you upload pics it drains your time. They don't give 1 pesos at the hotel bank. Go the the market bank and change your money there for tips. This way your not giving put 3.00 tips at a time. If you vape there was no issues going through customs. We will go back but to a different resort. It's was a great resort just needs better cleaning.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Disappointed

Pros: With the exception of the rocky areas...beach is beautiful. Clear blue water. Pools are nice Entertainment team was great during the day and the evening shows too Cuba Night was fun, traditional pork bbq and churros We were upgraded to a room with ocean view Cons: Food was terrible even for Cuba standards. This was our third time to Cuba and we've never had complaints about the food until now. The buffet was the same every single day. Vegetables were mushy and tasteless.  [... read more]Food at the pool snack bar arrives cold. The Seafood a la carte restaurant had shrimp on the menu but they had no shrimp all week. We were upgraded to Privilege but all the rooms in the Privilege building have Jacuzzi tubs but NO SHOWER. The seaweed on the beach sits there for days without being raked. The lounge chairs are the hard plastic with no pads and they are never wiped down at the pool. And while there were certainly exceptions (server at the snack bar, housekeeping staff in charge of our room, some of the buffet servers)...for the most part the staff are unfriendly. Unlike so many other resorts I've visited all over the Caribbean and the South, there is no feeling of warmth or hospitality. Many of the younger staff look bored and even annoyed when you ask them for something. For this reason alone I will never stay at an H10 Ocean property again. It's also tough to find anyone who speaks English, even among managers. This is a 3 star at best. You can find better in Cuba.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Beautiful place

This is the third time I have been in Cuba and this hotel was wonderful. We had the best beach out of all the close hotels. It was not very busy so we always got a shaded hut every day. The staff was wonderful, everybody was so nice and helpful. The food was very good, I heard a few people complain about it but I did not have any problems with it, it was all cooked well and tasted wonderful! I would reccomend this hotel to anyone looking to go to Cuba!

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Beautiful, but beware!

This was our third trip to Cuba and our first bad review. The Valentin Perla Blanca hotel and facilities are new and well designed, and the beach, one of the 10 best I've seen anywhere. The food was, at best, 2 or 3 star and we had a major unresolved dispute over our room. We were booked for a MINI SUITE OCEANVIEW. The view we got was the main buffet restaurant. (Please ask me for photos) At 6 every morning, I awoke to the clatter of plates, the scrape of chairs, loud talking.... etc [... read more]. All night till 4:30am. there was a parade of drunks past our window. Because my wife has claustrophobia, we had to keep the balcony door open, so I got no more than 2-3 hours interrupted sleep per night. I tried to get the room changed, but the concierge insisted we had oceanview, because if you lean out from the balcony, you can see the ocean. You can not see anything but the restaurant from anywhere in the room, and it was a room, not a suite. We were there for 2 weeks, but I would have loved to have been able to change resorts after the first night. The management (Valentin) and their front desk staff were the problem. This could be a 4 or 5 star resort if it was run properly, but they did not maintain standards, training or quality as one would expect. The staff, and all the Cubans we met throughout the country, as always, were delightful and motivated.

Memories Paraiso: a good resort, not the best one

I am a returning customer (have been 3 times in Memories Paraiso Azul). I would personally not go again with my child to this place. There is not much entertainment for the little one but the Kids club or the pool. I would say some slides or something else. . On the same topic- entertainment team is very weak, I remember in 2012 we were not able to sit for a minute: meringue class, games for children and after for the adults, aqua fitness in the water. Valentin Perla Blanca: great resort

The hotel, room, staff and beach were all great. The front desk staff very abrupt and not very helpful and everyday people lined up for 1 to 2 hrs. To exchange money. Once again thanks to bill gentry for making the arrangements for a very enjoyable holiday

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Awesome Trip

Love this resort!! Wonderful time The food was a hit and miss we didn't starve love the 24 hour grill at lunch. There were bug there and we did get bites but mostly on one really humid night. Over all the beach and pools were beautiful. I stayed in a garden veiw room. It was nice but could use some updates. Needs new pillows in rooms really flat. Would I go back?? Yes the staff at this resort were really awesome and friendly

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing Staff!!!

I stayed here with my family and had an amazing week, staff very friendly, midgal the waiter the not only was the staff amazing but they kept the resort in shape, looking good everyday. The beach well kept as well. I would return in a heart beat!!
