Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Iberostar Let Down !

Resonance Blu Varadero: Making memories in Memories Varadero

We absolutely loved the resort. Although the rooms left little to be desired, the awesome staff more than made up for it. Wee Laura Marie, our server in the buffet is as sweet as she is beautiful. David, Emmanuel and Roberto at the bar in the activities pool were phenomenal!! They took great care of us, and bent over backwards to ensure we had a fabulous experience. Hats off to these hard workers. The Japanese restaurant was a tasty treat and show in one. Barcelo Solymar: Used to be much better

I have been to Barcelo resorts 2 times in the past. My review is based on my experience in relation to this past visit. - We ordered an upgraded oceanview room, checked in at 7pm, no room for us available. Had to stay in on a lower level of bungalow and awoke to find bugs in the room. Moved to our oceanview room the next day, AC not working properly. - Less food options and restricted to specific times. Resort ran out of Mint for Mojito's - Less activities to do and lack of signing out voll [... read more]eyballs, soccer balls, etc. - Not as clean (broken glasses served to me, damage to rooms & lobbies, smell of urine from bathrooms, had to bring to resort attention that there was blood on the floor from the elevator to the doors leading to outdoor pool, beach needs to be cleaned a little as I found broken glass and garbage in some areas) - Lack of sufficient light at night in the hotel as many lightbulbs were out, hard to see turning the corner from elevator. - Resort should have an ATM in the lobby, had to walk half an hour into town to use ATM. The list goes on, however all these minor items do start to add up and create frustration, something I shouldn't experience on vacation. I am being told there is food strikes, power strikes, and a power struggle between Cuban Government and Owners of Barcelo. Had I known there was this commotion going on I may have decided to vacation somewhere else. Cuba is very lovely, safe, and a great place to vacation. Highly recommend visiting Havana.However the overall service at Barcelo has gone downhill and should be looked into asap. Once again, my vacations before at Barcelo were much better.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Never again

Worst customer service, majority of workers are miserable with attitude. Food is repatative ,servers only come up to you towards the end of your meal so that you can leave a tip. Rooms need a makeover. Pool is decent enjoyed that they had a shallow end. Beautiful beach. The only good thing about this resort is the beach, the entertainment staff and it's nightly shows. They should change the show times from 10:00 pm to 9:00pm.

Starfish Jibacoa: S A D ! Perhaps NOT that great of a resort anymore !!!!

I had only one problem in that resort - the local Cubans who were coming to stay for the weekend!!! Some of them were rude and obnoxious, littering around the pool area, jumping in the pool with their clothes, in the restaurant never waiting in line for their turn, extremely loud with their boom-boxes and God forbid somebody tries to tell them that their behavior is not appreciated - they look at that person as if they want to rip them apart!!!!! Melia Las Americas: Not what we were looking for!

We were going on this trip to relax and enjoy the ocean view, which we paid extra for but little did we know that it included booming music every night until at least 12 pm. We like music but would like to be able to choose whether we listen to it or not but in our "oceanview" room we did not have that choice. The hotel was tired and dated but generally clean. New beds would be in order! The staff were pleasant but some did not want to be there. "Betty" in the dining room was a gem. Playa Caleta: Never Again

I can list a lot wrong with this hotel. 1) food was terrible in the buffet (meat tough, never changed much from day to day) 2) shortage of towels in the hotel rooms 3) never any toilet paper in the public washrooms 4) same music/songs played at the pool bar every day 5) some of the hotel rooms were in bad shape (my companion had no door on the room safe and no air conditioning) 6) out of the 3 elevators in our building, only 1 was working for the last few days of our week's holiday 7) too [... read more] many very rude Russians I could go on but I am sure you get the point. The only good thing I have to say is that the majority of the staff were very nice and helpful.

Mar Del Sur: Very Good Value

Lots of stuff to do and see at that central location in the town end of Varadero. 3 minute walk to the beach. Great beach bar, lounges, palapas, very nice staff. The hotel itself included a 24 hr lobby bar that attracted interesting characters, never a dull moment. The cafeteria style buffet was basic but very edible and relatively flavourful. They tried hard to vary the main meat dish everyday. Always fresh fruit. The waiters were polite, friendly and eager to please. Unfortunately during o [... read more]ur stay the pool was being refurbished hence the low package price. But the fabulous beach more than made up for it for me. The room was big and the bed was firm and comfy. Pretty clean but bring towels. We had a nice big balcony terrace overlooking the street. No complaints at all and I would recommend to anyone looking for value for dollar and an interesting, relaxing and fun holiday.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Very good resort with amazing facilities and repetitive food menu

Pros: 1. Very good and clean hotel rooms. 2. Room cleaning service was very good and creative. 3. Very friend staff and fast prompt service. 4. Food was good. Ala -carte as well as buffet was good in taste. 5. Resort beach as well as pool area is neat and well maintained. Cons: 1. The buffet food menu was totally repetitive. everday breakfast, lunch and dinner had same exact dishes. 2. The cocktail drinks weren't that good. 3. Being first timer to cuba, not sure how tipping culture w [... read more]orks. we ended up giving tips every now and then and might have given at least $150 CAD in tips. probably hotel might provide some pointers/guidelines on the same.

Playa Vista Azul: Not what expected

I have been to an ocean resort in Santa Maria, so i thought I would try this one. Beach was beautiful and infinity pool great. Rooms were nice but not cleaned properly. The food at this resort was disgusting. The disco was at a buffet at night. Lobby bar closes early. Very disappointing resort.

Melia Marina Varadero: Value for money Resort!

Hotel location and amenities: Very good and new Beach: Average as there was a lot of seaweed and not much of a sandy beach. Sea was not rough Swimming pool: Good with an excellent bar VIP Lounge ( Level Lounge): Fantastic Wifi: Just like any other place, accessible by wifi card, connection was good. Staff: excellent, went out of their way to make it a memorable stay. Resort had a very nice marina that provided very good sea excursions. Playa Vista Azul: This resort needs improvement

It’s a beautiful resort and very modern. But I really hated the service. A lot of the women that works at the receptionist were very rude . I had issue with my key card for the door 4 times , I had to go to receptionist and she was very rude and she was annoyed that I kept coming back. Some of the bartenders are not very friendly at all . The lobby bar closes at 12 am, nothing to do after... people still wanna hangout in the lobby. I had to kill a cockroach at the buffet and seen one at pool . The food presentation of the buffet is not very appealing. This is only 4 yrs old and I’ve seen some stuff that are not maintained. Had an amazing time at bella costa stayed In bungslows, #754 the food was pretty good the lady who made ommlettes was amazing and towel guy was so friendly and cute I loved the resort...see yas in February..

Barcelo Solymar: Amazing resort

This resort was awesome. It was clean and the food was pretty good. The landscape, trees and flowers were beautiful. It is a quiet resort. The people are so friendly. The a la carte restaurant are very good. Beach beautiful.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Happy with the resort!!

I had the royal service although I did not have a royal room. The room service was not what it was supposed to be (didn’t have almost anything on the menu and it would sometimes arrive 2 hours later) but overall I was quite happy with the resort all together. The beaches were stunning as well as the water.

Starfish Varadero: 3rd time was not the charm!!!

My mom and I have been to starfish in the past and heard they did upgrades, more like lipstick on a pig. We chose to stay in a bungalow as they're close to the beach and restaurants. Well, that's the only good thing about our stay. The bungalow had mold around the tub and around the A/C unit. I mentioned it on our review card that was given to us by the staff and they blamed it on the cleaning lady not doing her job. I highly disagree!!! No variety and cockroaches on tables, walls, etc. A few times we did not eat at the resort because of the poor quality, we had better luck downtown. It's a shame we had to spend more $ when we already paid for food. We did love seeing some of the staff that we met before, Rocky, Amey, and Nancy are awesome people. The "Activity" pool is boring with the same shows every day and same music. When the staff asks you to participate and you decline they say "Don't be lazy be crazy"

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Awesome Vacation Destination

First timers in Cuba. My wife, my 11 months old and myself. This place is perfect for a family vacation. Food was good. Only downside is the bed. We got King size but mattress was all springy and uncomfortable.

Playa Vista Azul: A good resort

The hotel is nice, the grounds are beautiful , clean and well maintained., the view was wonderful . The room was nice and our maid exceptional but for a five star hotel I expected to have a small shampoo, conditioner, hand soap in the bathroom, none of that was available. Towels were also missing from the bathroom when we arrived, we had to wait for someone to bring us some so we could take a shower. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Amazing resort

This resort was a tad dated, but beautiful. The room was spacious and had a waterfall shower. The mini bar was always stocked. Mikes coffee bar was one of my favourite places to be during the mid afternoon heat, with great drinks and snacks.The staff on the resort was always friendly and greeted you with a smile.
