Melia Cayo Coco: Ok, not as great as everyone thinks.
This resort is a favourite for many repeat customers, this was my 3rd visit. There is a pretty significant $ premium to stay at the Melia Cayo Coco over the other neighbouring Melia resorts, definitely not worth it on this trip. Poor selection of liqours, drink mixn food. The bright spot is still the staff, I give them 2 thumbs up. The other resorts had better beer, premium liquor. Seems backwards..... Anyhow, enjoyed my stay.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Not impressed!
First off - we got off the bus - they were herding you through like cattle! After a long day of traveling sometimes you just want to take a minute to catch your breath!
Service - wasn't the best...very young and not experienced enough
Rooms - very nice - except we had no hot water when we went to have a shower. Next morning we had no water to flush the toilet
View - overlooked the pool with an ocean view
Food - well it's Cuba - there was always something you could pick
Beach - [... read more]if you have mobility issues - very difficult to get to. Lots of Seaweed you had to get through(once you get there)
Pools - they were nice
Lobby - uncomfortable chairs
We arrived on Friday night - we talked to Air Transat Rep Frank and we changed resorts on Sunday. Frank wasn't surprised with our request. First time to Cuba that we wanted to move to a better resort!
Talked to other people there and they thought the same thing with same experiences. This is a resort geared to the younger crowd

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: very nice resort
This resort is the nicest one we have stayed in in Cuba , we have visited Cuba 6 times!!!
The only downside is the beach is not the beautiful sand we have seen in Cayo Coco but the pools are absolutely great, this is the first time we have gone to Cuba in September but the weather was very nice.
The staff were amazing, very courteous, always available to help out always asking if anything was needed.
The food was very good from the first day to the end of our 7 day stay. We will definitely go[... read more] back!!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: NICE HOTEL, BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE NEEDS TO BE BETTER
Dcam506
Oct 4, 12:47 EDT
Hello,
I would like to advise of the service that I have received at my vacation stay at Hotel : GRAND MUTHU CAYO GUILLERMO, Cuba, from: Fri Sep 28 2018 to Tue Oct 02 2018.
When we first arrived at the hotel we arrived in the Morning around 11:45 am we were serviced and asked to fill out a form, as I filled out the form the reception went to help another couple, I waited for 10 mins as the form only took 30 seconds to fill, but then for some reason she did not [... read more]come back to us and continued to help the another couple. I found it odd that she didn't come back to us as we didn't even have our key to our room we had to wait and speak to someone else to assist us when we were there before the other couple. Once someone assisted us were advised that we could leave our luggage at the front desk as our room was not ready as of yet but we could enjoy the resort and come back around 1:30pm and our room would be ready.
We returned and was advised that our room was ready. We were escorted to the room which was an oceanview rm on the 1st floor. We inspected the RM and we were suppose to have a stocked daily mini fridge with water, beer and wine, That was even done and nothing was in our RM, we called front desk and I spoke to reception I advised her that we were advised that our RM was ready but nothing was stocked in our mini fridge. We advised we would like it ASAP as we were going to the beach. We waited for 15 mins and no one came and decided that were going to the pool to cool off and when we returned around 6pm the fridge should be stocked and it was.
On Sept 30,2018 we went to the breakfast buffet around 9:15am and noticed that that this resort did not have many people, My husband got his breakfast and then went over to the bread section and he had to cut his own bread and toast it which is not problem he served himself and sat down when he went back to get more they advised they didn't have more bread and would see with the kitchen we waited 10 mins.... nothing we asked another server..... nothing, I found they would go into the kitchen and come back out and not even say nothing to us and ignore our request. We asked 4 servers and waited 20 mins for bread. I finally got up and spoke to a manager and requested the bread he too spoke to a chef as I was right there when he made the request. We waited again for another 5 mins. I then saw that the chef came out with a plate full of bread and I then advised my husband that it was coming but that is not what had happened, The chef went to the toaster and toasted all the bread and then went to sit down and have breakfast with the other staff. At this point I was livided and just wanted some bread to finish off my breakfast. Soon enough the other manager of the buffet came out with bread and plated it for my husband. I was in total shock that we had to wait for 25 mins for bread at breakfast and that the staff really didn't want to help us. I went to customer service at the hotel and advised of what happened to us she then advised she would speak to the super and would look into it. I advised that I didn't want to make a complaint but they should be coming back to the client and advising of something not ignore your requests.
on that same day we returned to the 24/7 snack bar by the pool we viewed the food in the heated display and noticed that everything was dried out and the birds were eating it. I seen a chef and asked if I could get some fresh pasta she replied NO I asked why not, she really didn't have an answer she then went to the bartender to ask what was I asking, I then again asked I want fresh pasta not dried up pasta with meat sauce. I got the feeling that I wasn't suppose to ask for it and to eat was was there, but I stood my ground and became upset. Another chef came out and I advised what would I like, I requested" fresh pasta" he went back into the kitchen he then brought out fresh food for me and my husband on a plate and asked if we wanted anything else we requested a hamburger and fries. He returned with a pork burger and less then 10 fries on the plate. I was already fed up as no one took our drink order and then when they did it's like we had to go pick it up at the bar. I noticed there was a just another couple in the snack bar and a group of employees at the back that was taking up the server's time. I finally got my coke and asked her who are those people she said they were managers and they expected us to service them just like the guests. I was really upset when I heard that. I told her to call the Super over he walked by me his name was ANDY and I kept calling him I finally had to yell "Excuse me" and then he came. I showed him the food that was in the display and asked him what kind of service is this when I request fresh food and was told NO and the birds were eating it as there were no covers to prevent that and I said this is the slow season we paid to be here you work here and get better service then us. He looked stunned and really didn't say much he kept saying I will talk to the staff. I told him If it wasn't for people like me and everyone that comes to this resort you wouldn't have a a job and I just wanted the respect that we should be served 1st not wait until management was done. I felt he wasn't sympathetic or felt empathy for us and never once said we're sorry that you feel that way. I told him If i see this don't you think other guest see it too, Again never once did he say sorry for the service that we received and he basically walked away. We left the snack bar thinking he didn't care and that nothing is going to done.
Later on that afternoon we were at the pool bar and we made conversation the bartender and he made a strange request to us. He asked if we could get our room # and sign a blue receipt saying we got 2 cases of Heineken beer. I asked why, he said that we forgot to get a signature from the guest and a room number so were asking if you could help us out. I told him i will not sign that as I will not take responsibility for someone else for 2 cases of beer. I don't know if maybe the employees took the beer and wanted the get the guests to sign for it. When me and my husband went back to our seats that really left a bad sense that something shady is going on.
Through out our stay we continued to see ANDY the super and not once did he ever come to us and talk to us and say how can we make your stay better. It really bothered me that i paid so much and not even did this person who has a management care about his guests. Honestly I really think ANDY has no people skills and social skills and should not be working at a super if he can't interact with guests. We did speak to other employees there and they also told us that his a big Asshole and thinks that he is better than them.
The night before we were leaving we went to reception and asked how much it was to have a late check out since check out was at 12pm our flight was at 10:25pm they advised 10 pesos for hour if you wanted to check out by 5pm and you had to book a shower time. I advised that we had a few problems with our service and we had spoke to Andy about it and we felt that we should be able to check out at 5pm and not pay anything thing. Reception advice to speak to customer service again and they would help me. I advised that I have done that already and nothing was really done about our service that we had. They persisted that the only way to request a late check out was to speak to customer service again. I then spoke to Wani at customer service she was empathetic, sympathetic and really nice, Just talking to her we felt appreciated and heard. She asked the questions that the Super should of asked us. What can I do to make your stay better? we asked for a late check out and she said no problem i do that for you and you will not be billed for anything extra. Wani from customer service came to our room 20 mins later with a bottle of champagne and a note to advise that the hotel was sorry for any inconvenience. I gave her a hug and told her thank you for being a good person and went on to say I know our complaints our small but it did make a difference in our stay and our thoughts on this hotel, I also went on to say I was thinking that we will never come back here again and after talking to her I would go back, WANI is wonderful and she needs to the supervisor not ANDY.
Also we didn't like how there was alot of maintenance around the pool like hammers and banging, painting of decks which when we walked over had our feet were red, and most of all NO entertainment shows at night. If I would of know that I honestly would have not booked this hotel. I just found that after dinner around 9pm there was nothing really to do since the shows were pretty much cancelled as they were renovating the stadium, But they did have some lobby entertainment but nothing compared to the nightly shows and dancers.
On our last day we did go see the Sunwing rep and he advised any problems to see customer service or the Sunwing rep on site. I told him I'm not the type of person to complain about the resort and wasn't aware to go to Sunwing to help, he advised the would take our concerns down and advise Sunwing.
The resort is beautiful and the pools were great. I just think that the Management should talk to there guests more and not be so high on there horse. I noticed this alot at this location. The staff like the bartenders and waitstaff were social with guests, along with the cleaning staff everyday they would greet us.

Hotel Mojito: Overall Great Stay at Mojito! Would Stay Again!
Food: This is my third time at a Cuba all inclusive and Mojito has the best food yet! Of course I recommend that the earlier you arrive for each buffet meal the better. Breakfast had an egg station, lunch and dinner had meat stations and a really delicious pasta station where they make/cook it to your preference in front of you! (Make sure to bring a tip if you take advantage!) Snack bar was open every day an hour later than advertised but the pizza and fries were awesome. We tried the Internati[... read more]onal, Gourmet and Italian a-la-cartes and they were all pretty good with great options. Unfortunately they had no champagne throughout our stay but we enjoyed the bars thoroughly!
Rooms: We were unexpectedly upgraded to one of the "22" rooms upon arrival and it was perfect. Not an awesome view (because of the tornado), but the porch was spacious, the beds were pretty soft and the room was quite clean with barely any bugs! (the occasional harmless ant or spider)
Grounds/Facilities: Really impressive since the hurricane was only a year ago! Pool is really beautiful and clean, they also had a nice disco, gym, cigar shop, gift shop and beach bar.
Staff: Most staff were absolutely awesome, the best service i've gotten in Cuba so far! Service in the buffet, lobby and beach bars, and a-la-cartes was excellent. Service at the pool snack bar was confusing and sometimes not great. Initially I attempted to order up at the counter but was told to go back and wait at a table for a server to take my order. I sat and waited for about half an hour, so I went back to the counter to ask about it and was told my order was already put in! Obviously not as I waited another twenty minutes for it to be brought. Other than that particular instance I found that service is much slower during busy times like lunch (awesome at night!), there seems to be a couple staff working there that have a bit of an off putting attitude.
Beach: Beautiful, long and white. Tons of palapas, warm shallow turquoise ocean. Absolutely gorgeous.
Other: Mojito is super close to the airport so we were the first stop on the bus route. Quick check in and greeted by cocktails, shuttle to room. Didn't go to any shows but passed by a really impressive dance performance in the lobby one night. Overall the most "not sick" i've ever felt in Cuba which is notable! Be sure to bring enough cash for the week as there are no ATMs at the hotel (bank at the market 5mins walk away, they also have ceasers there!), they can exchange it for you at the front desk. Please tip! These lovely people definitely need that 1CUP a lot more that you do! Unfortunately during our stay we witnessed quite a few Europeans be very curt and blatantly rude with the staff, never tipping! It was all very upsetting to watch.

Melia Costa Rey: Nice Resort
The hotel is nice and overall we enjoyed our stay, but some improvements would still require to make it even more better. There are many swimming pools and a good beach. The bar service was very good. The food was good just sometimes it was hard to find a clean table. The coffee in the dining room wasn't drinkable for breakfast. We needed to go upstairs after breakfast for taking a good latte or black coffee. We also noticed some broken things in the area of the hotel that no one tried to repair[... read more], like broken buttons in the lift of the main building or broken wooden railings on the way to the beach. All these small things build your impression about the resort. A few other things that bothered me: the floor in our room was never washed during the week; Also they clean the swimming pool with the brushes, but then all the dirt stays at the bottom and it is really not nice to step into that, not sure why they don't use a pool cleaning robots.
I don't even know where to start. This was my first trip to Cayo Coco. Memories Flamenco is a beautifully landscaped resort with a beautiful beach. From the moment I arrived at the resort and until the moment I left, ALL of the staff were amazing. The food was a lot better than what I had expected, having been to Varadero several times. I can honestly say that I don't have anything bad to say about this resort and I will definitely be going back again.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Awesome family vacation
Traveled with my family and friends, including my 4 month old grandson, Sept 21-28/2018. The people at the Melia have never been so accommodating. Having never traveled with an infant before we really didn't know what to expect. The play pen was up to our standards as every country has their own baby standards. Was relieved and had no issues putting the baby to bed every night.
A few changes. They had an awesome dinner/video dance on the beach and I absolutely loved it. Great food and some f[... read more]un games. A dinner around the pool was a nice touch as well. The hotel wasn't crowed so there were no wait lines anywhere, which was nice. Service expectational as always. People amazing and food was terrific. Thanks Kiki for always cooking our favorites you are an amazing chef. My favorite omelet lady always greeted us with a smile and a delicious omelet. Front desk staff were awesome and accommodating on check-in. Although a couple of requests couldn't be met that night, but were quickly rectified the next morning.
Beach gets more awesome every time I go...
Yes the pool liner still needs to be changed, some of the rooms are tired and some shortages happened while we were there. Were they deal breakers or ruined our vacation. Not even a little bit. I love this resort, not only for the beach, sun, food and great memories that we make every time we go. But for the people, the staff (whom I can't say enough about) and the new friends we make each trip.
Lastly I would like to say welcome to the new and very visable manager Carlos, who took time out of his crazy days to speak to us every day, listen to a few concerns and made notes of any recommendations that we as repeat clients thought would be helpful to some much needed changes to the Melia.
Looking forward to going back soon.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: MOST RELAXING CUBAN VACATION TO DATE
MOST RELAXING CUBAN VACATION TO DATE
PROFILE:
A Senior who has been travelling to Cuba for the past 20+ years, so far I have stayed at eight different resorts. Sometimes travel solo, sometimes as a couple, sometimes as part of a group. This past visit from September 11th to September 25th we travelled as a group of four, two of us were repeat guest (who really didn’t have a good ‘first experience’ but decided to give Memories a second try). The other two were a deal couple and first time [... read more]visitors to Cuba.
CHECK IN:
From the minute we got off the bus that evening we were struck by the impeccable level of service. We were greeted in the Lobby by a full complement of Welcoming Staff with cool drinks ready, and the Check In Crew who already had our ‘bracelets’ ready, and only required us to quickly fill out our ‘admission slips’. Because of the two deaf people in our party I did request that our three rooms be close to each other, my request was granted.
SERVICE:
To my surprise upon our arrival I was approached by a wonderful young lady who introduced herself as Greisy Costillo-Perez the Customer Service Manager, it is obvious this young woman had read my ‘original complaint’ of my first visit to Memories Flamenco Beach Resort, knew I was giving them a ‘second shot’ and was determined to re-assure me that my first experience was not the ‘norm’ for this resort, Our bags were taken directly to the rooms assigned, we four tired Seniors also got a ride over to our building. As someone who retired after 30 years of not only delivering Customer Service but teaching how it is done, all I can say is by her initial gesture and by the fact that every time she saw us during our stay she would genuinely inquire if everything was O.K., that caring concern she exhibited certainly earned us as Repeat Guests of this resort, that woman is an asset to the Memories organization.
THE STATE OF THE RESORT:
While the individual rooms we got were in good repair for the most part, if as in my case something didn’t work, the maintenance staff would address it immediately.. I had the thermostat of my AC replaced within minutes of getting into my room and discovering it was not working.
While the cosmetics of this resort continue to look good, and the cleanliness of the bathrooms in the Common Area were for the most part improved over our last visit, the shower stations between Building #2 and the Snack Bar were broken and permanently shut off from the second day we got there, this was not repaired for the entire two weeks of our stay, resulting in some people leaving that beach area having to go over to use the showers in the pool area, either that or track sand all the way to their rooms.
THE CULTURE OF THIS RESORT:
While not overtly declared, I still find the front line service at this resort to be either ‘tips driven’ or ‘recognition of repeat guest driven. I was surprised that this time around I received much better service than the last time, and in most cases because I had been recognized as being there before. I did happen to have conversations with guests who were there for the first time, who did encounter issues that I didn’t, but those issues did sound familiar as those were some of my issue on my first visit. I guess familiarity has it’s privilages.
FOOD AND DRINK:
I always found the quality and variety of food at the Memories chain to be the best resort food of the eight other resorts I have visited, but then that is my personal choice. I did note however that whenever I drank the bottled water provided in my room my stomach was fine, however if I drank the water supplied at the restaurants or bars I developed a ‘loose stomach’, to avoid any further discomfort I simply took along my ‘personal water’ where ever I went.
POOL:
I am a beach person so I did not spend much time at the pool, however the both times I attended the ‘Orange Party’ which is a must do, the pool seemed clean enough, I did however have a complaint from a friend who claimed the pools were dirty, I cannot attest to this since they ‘looked fine’.
BEACH:
The beach was the usual ‘spectacular’, I spent most of my two weeks there. I will now direct this comment to ‘The Pigs’ who won’t clean up after themselves when they use the beach... For Pete’s sake, there are garbage cans located along the beach.. use them. The beach area was just littered with everything from those small plastic cups, to straws, to discarded beer cans and those fresh coconuts and pineapples from those ‘novelty drinks’ that they sell. The Cubans are there to serve you but not to pick up after you.
CONCLUSION:
Will I return to this resort? Absolutely... and am happy to recommend this resort to anyone reading this review.
Room Tip: Buildings #2 and #3 Pool / Garden view tends to get a bit noisy during pool activities.

The hotel is very well designed and close to all amenities. The beach was very nice the room clean and fonctionnal. I understand that Cuban witch i respect ...but for traveller thèses attitudes of no respect and take all on the buffet,.. put on tbe table just for wast and taking full plate of what ever was on the buffet was a big unreasonable for the other guests.

Hotel Vigia: Resort has some concerns for tourists
This is a resort I frequent often as I have developed many friendships over the years. The staff are amazing and the friendliest of any other resort. However, there is a decline in the star rating and issues are clearly seen.
I understand, recovery from frequent hurricanes has an impact. The staff work extremely hard. Head Office Professionals should frequent their hotels to view and assess the problems.
The quality of the food has declined, not the same as previous years. The buffet, the[... read more] lobby snack bar, with limited choices, and the specialty restaurant is open.. the beach bar closed, possibly due to low occupancy.
There are units with black mold on the outside , definitely a health hazard. Some of the mould is covered with white wash,. For the price paid , this should not be is situation...The grass /grounds is not maintained as it used to be. Could be because it is very hot?? or shortage of staff?
The lobby washrooms are very old , never any liquid soap in the ladies, but there is liquid in the men's, definitely need to be renovated.. the washroom near the pool is very dirty and smelly.. needs to be torn down completely and re-built. The TV's in some of the rooms need to be replaced, several clients were complaining.
Other than that, the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable., the chamber maids work very hard. The Staff is amazing, cannot help but love the Cuban People. There is only so much they can do...But the Head Offices need to frequent their resorts and fix all the issues or they will loose customers who will go elsewhere. This particular resort is in a perfect location with a beautiful walking beach..
I would not recommend to a friend at this time as the feedback would not be positive.. There is a lot of good, but first time traveller here would return with complaints for sure.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Nice beach
The beach was beautiful . The food on the other hand was unedible. I basically didn’t eat for a week. The resort had limited drinks as well . They didn’t even have tequila ... I would ask for a pina colada and half the time they didn’t have it. The bungalow was really nice except our ceiling was leaking brown fluid. Was glad the beach was nice because it definitely made up for the poor service and bad food.
