Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: can say nothing bad about this resort.

the barcelo grand faro in los cobo, was great. clean, friendly with great service, and great food. close to local night clubs and restaurants shopping was good in town. Just what we needed. would recommend, and would happily return.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: A wonderful resort

The hotel is well maintained, as are the grounds. There is a bowling alley in the mall and a water park for learning to surf (fee). The pools are large and the kids pool is amazing. The food was great.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great time at Barcelo!

Wonderful resort! Very clean and well taken care of resort. The pool and beach areas were very nice. Excellent food with a large variety of dishes. We cant wait to return!!. We did upgrade slightly to the premium and the room was spectacular with two huge rooms and two balconies!

Barcelo Solymar: Great location.

Grounds were well tended, people were very friendly; a little more attention to efficiency and time keeping would be welcome. Room in need of repair. Cuisine could be improved upon. Overall it was a great vacation due to the amazing beach.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Awesome place

I cannot say enough good things about the Barcelo Maya colonial in Mayan Riviera. What a great place for everyone to enjoy. Lots to do for all different age groups. Traveling with friends, family or as a couple. this would be a great recommendation for anyone.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great resort

The junior suite was exactly as seen on their web site; very clean and perfect. There was a private Jacuzzi on the balcony for romantic evening sipping champagne in good company. All the a la carte restaurant were very good, especially the french restaurant La Comedie. there is a surcharge of $20.00 per person but it is really worth it for the excellent cuisine, ambiance and polished service. Barcelo Solymar: Good Resort - Great Food & Clean Rooms

Overall, great resort - clean, food was well prepared,the beach was incredible. Internet was down a few times, but not there for the internet. Weather was perfect and the staff were all pleasant and helpful.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Super

Can't say enough good. The food, rooms and all the staff are so nice. There is a sea food restaurant where you reserve a la cartes. The restaurant has a few tables for them and a few that are not for the restaurant. We sat of to the side that wasn't for the restaurant and the manager came over and offered us an a la carte meal. I don't care for sea food but I did have the salmon and it was so good we booked another at the same restaurant and I again had the salmon. The best!

Occidental Caribe: Beautiful grounds, but service lacks

My wife and I recently stayed at Barcelo Punta Cana. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the beach is amazing; the only flaw was the accommodations and service, or better lack thereof! • Water Leak above our sink – We had a slow water leak above our bathroom sink which turned into a large downpour half way into our stay. We told the front desk mid-way into our stay when it got really bad. We notified the front desk at 9:00am. We returned at the end of the day to find they did n [... read more]ot inspect our room, and water was still leaking!! When we went to the front desk again, the employee said to us “why didn’t you come back in the afternoon if it was not fixed?!” …I told him “I came at 9:00am!! You had a whole day to fix it and it’s my vacation!” • Housekeeping – Day 1 we tipped $2 and received only one set of towels, when we are two people staying in the room! Day 2 we did not tip and received only ONE hand towel, no bath towels or face towels at all, nor did we receive new bottled water and pop! Day 3 we tipped $5 and received two sets of all towels!! You should NOT have to tip to receive the basic amenities! We spoke to many others on the resort who also experienced the same problems with housekeeping. • Towel Hut – Employees question you if you attempt to get more than one towel per day. I went to switch our towels around 4:00pm because they were wet and the employee at the towel hut said "you were just here 1 hour ago – you are only allowed one towel per day, hotel rule!" I said “excuse me? If towel is wet, I'm allowed to switch it as many times as I want!!” • Showers – The showers in our rooms had sporadic water pressure and cold water. • Toilets – Half of the toilets around the resort do not flush well. A poolside washroom overflowed with dirty water about 1-inch deep one day! • Beach chairs –We were up and at the pool/beach by 8:30/9:00am and many of the good spots were gone already! And the best part, those people did not show up many times until after lunch! • Rooms – rooms are old and should be renovated • Pasta station – the pasta station at the buffet needs more than one person to run it. We waited for 45 minutes to get pasta, because the poor guy was cooking AND washing his own plates on his own!! • Burger hut – the burger hut near the pool NEVER replenished the French Fries during peak lunch time hours. We would wait in line for burgers and hot dogs, only to find out the fries were finished when it was our turn! Cook for your anticipated crowds. • Drinks – Various times the pool side bars ran out of pina colada mix. The speciality restaurants did not have rum during peak dinner hours. • Drinks – The servers will ask you what you want to drink …but NEVER bring it to you! Why ask if you aren’t going to follow through?! This happened MULTIPLE times. • Internet – Internet is lousy and expensive! Not even free wifi in the lobby.

Occidental Tucancun: Great time!

The hotel was great. We travel often & there were no major complaints. The food was good, the people were friendly, everything was clean. We did have a lovely ocean front room. There would be some small things that need updating/fixing but nothing that would impact your vacation in a huge way. Go to this resort you will be happy you did!

Occidental Caribe: nice resort, too many springbreakers

This was a well kept and clean resort. The staff was awesome, always there to help. Food was awesome with lots of variety. If you go to the casino avoid the scam with the free chips at the entrance. Spring breakers took over pool every day open to close (and some never got out) I really enjoy the swim up but choose to stay out of this one. Beautiful pools just don't like swimming in.....

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Amazing Resort

My husband and my third trip to the Barcelo Resort Puerto Plata. We love the people, entertainment, food, the well kept grounds and beautiful beach. Every visit has provided a new experience and unforgettable memories.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Wonderful resort

The hotel was exceptionally clean. The food was excellent and a lot of variety. The staff was super friendly. The grounds are extensive and spacious. Walking/running path surrounding the grounds. Huge pools. Great beach.We will go back.

Occidental Caribe: Good Value Last Minute Trip

Grounds were lovely and well maintained. People were friendly, polite and helpful. Room was a little dated but fine. Buffet food was good, however, a la carte was spectacular. Has by far the best strip of beach in the vacinity. Evening entertainment was OK. Sometimes certain drinks were difficult to obtain. Good cross section of age groups selected this location.

Occidental Caribe: Best resort in Punta Cana!

The grounds are heaven; the layout was fantastic; the food was tasty. I would have liked more music on the patio at nights. It can get boring at times. The water was rough; maybe because it was March.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful Bavaro Barcelo

Barcelo Bavaro Adults only was a beautiful resort. Very clean, gorgeous grounds, the best beach. The bartenders are very generous with the booze and good quality liquor too. The Caribe lunch buffet wasn't great but the LaBrisa lunch was much better - chicken, grilled fish, grilled vegetables, fresh pasta, lots of salads. Most of the dinners were good, not great but the food is different in the Dominican. Chez Gourmet (chateaubriand) and LaBrisa (veal) were good for dinner. There is no beach serv [... read more]ice for drinks but there was around the pool. On the flip side, the room was very musty,(but clean) we got used to it eventually. The bathroom shower is small but the water pressure is great and the water hot. There were ALOT of smokers here so I was constantly moving away to get out of the second hand smoke. I really think they should have some areas smoke free (especially the cigars were stinky).

Barcelo Solymar: The best resort!

This was my first time to Cuba. I was very happy with the cleanliness of the resort. The staff is what made it the best though! They are polite and friendly. I saw other resorts in the area and they did not compare to this one. Barcelo Resort is top!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Not What Expected

Knowing this is a huge resort I did expect some challenges, but wasn't ready to deal with the disorganization that we experienced. I found that more often than not, the service / friendliness of the staff wasn't that great. I'm a Pepsi drinker and this resort provides Coke, so on Day 1 made a special trip to the store to buy Pepsi, only to have it stolen from my room the next day. Barcelo Huatulco: A Piece of Paradise

It was an honour to travel to the Mountains and experience the true undisturbed beauty of the countryside. The village people were proud and welcoming to allow us to discover the paradise they live in and work so hard to sustain. The City of Santa Cruz is breathtaking. We felt very safe and welcomed as we walked about this picturesque wonderland. The shops and market were wonderful places to gather some souvenirs or handmade products or jewelry. The restaurants and bars were unique and inviting. The park square in the centre of the city was well groomed and a peaceful spot to reflect on the lovely vacation spot of Huatulco,Mexico! Our trip to the Barcelo Huatulco was wonderful and it was a pleasure to be able to share this piece of paradise with the proud, friendly and welcoming Mexican people of Huatulco. We will definitely return to the Barcelo Resort and anticipate discovering many more memories in this Piece of Paradise ,Huatulco

Occidental Caribe: Solid 3.5 Stars Experience potential for 4

Spring Break Stay with lots of college students on ground. Knowing that, there are separate pools if you need to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Condo style resort with good food, beach and service. Staff spoke very limited English but we had a Spanish speaking person with us so we were good most of the time. Rooms keys timed out and needed daily registrations at the front desk; found that fairly frustrating. top floors have vaulted ceilings but water pressure was lousy along with hot water [... read more] availability. Make sure to check out the Pizzeria upstairs in the main Pool Area for great pizza and a spectacular view of the of ocean. Daily entertainment was fantastic both daytime and evening. Bring American money tip and travel in taxis. 40 minutes from Higuey, 20 minutes to San Juan shopping centre and 5 minutes to Punta Blanca Shopping Market.
