Melia Marina Varadero: Great resort!

Overall it was a positive experience. I feel their standard of what 'clean' is, is not what we are use to (especially the hotel rooms and washrooms). The toilets did not always flush (around the entire resort). The people and staff were kind and friendly. Although not directly on the beach, it was only a five minute walk. The food was decent and the entertainment was good.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Resort

This was our first trip to Cuba and I have to say it far exceeded our expectations, We will definitely be going back ! We did the Jeep tour which I highly recommend. I have no complaints at all about this resort. Room was great, bed very comfortable.

Melia Habana: Resort was lovely. However travel arrangements were a disaster

The experience of travelling with Sunwing was miserable. The flight left about 40 minutes late but that was the beginning of the disaster.. We arrived at 7.00 pm approximately and then our troubles began. I was told by many persons at Sunwing that the travel to my hotel was 1.5 hours. It took in excess of 5 hours to arrive at the Hotel. Bus driver who spoke no English and we were lost. He tried to go under a bridge and the hit the roof of the bus,\We had to turn the bus around on a single lane [... read more] road which required a 15 point turn. It was difficult to understand that I was gong to a 5 star hotel but was obliged to visit many 2 or 3 star places .I had arranged this holiday for my Senior business partner. I have lost that authority to be given that responsibility again. On our planned return on Saturday , Sunwing official informed me that due to some event, we had to be picked up at 4.30 am to catch a flight for 11.00am. In frustration I took a cab for $200.00. Unlike what I was told by Sunwing about an event, the taxi arrived in .1.5 to 2.0 hours. No traffic issues. As a result I was obliged to wait for 5 hours for my flight. Had I been informed correctly. I would have planned alternative transportation or planned to stay an additional day in Havana since my first day was a total travel day. In fact my next trip to Havana would be planned to fly into and out of Havana.. The amount of money I spent was a waste of time since I was angry for two days and I could not wait to get back home. On the return flight, I was offered a $50.00 coupon for completing a questionnaire, I intended to send this response and expect my compensation would be more attractive should I chose to travel with Sunwing again. Melia Cayo Coco: Always amazing

Although there was much devastation after Irma, the hotel and staff were as good as on our previous visits and we will be visiting Melia again. The food was also up to par. The entertainment, although carried out in the bar area, was superb and kudos to the entertainment staff. Only have one objection and that is guests opting to chose their seating around the pool early in the morning and then not returning to them until later in the day.

Paradisus Varadero: Great week at an amazing resort

Just returned from an amazing week at Paradisus Varadero. This is a beautiful resort. Don't pay attention to bad reviews. The grounds are beautiful and clean. There are so many places to relax by yourself or be with other people if that's what you choose. There are plenty of chairs by pool and on the beach. They were so friendly and always doing their best t [... read more]o make you happy and relaxed. Our room was a Junior Suite on the 2nd floor of a hacienda in the main area. We were very close to the pool and not too far to walk to main bar/lobby area. We had three people in the room, myself and two teenage boys. We were very happy with the room. It was clean and spacious. We had a third bed put in which was there upon our arrival. We never felt crowded. The buffet was plentiful but travellers have to remember - it is a buffet and it is Cuba. If you don't like resort food, don't go to a resort. We tried a couple of the A la Carte restaurants which were really good and a nice change. We especially loved the snack bar by the pool. Our server Thahira was especially wonderful and greeted me with my morning capppuccino each day. They have a menu with other choices than what you can get at the buffet. My sons loved the Paradiso Burger. The entertainment each night was lovely as was the music by the pool and beach bar. Originally I hesitated to book this resort after reading some negative reviews. We had a completely wonderful experience here and I thank the TripCentral agent, Julie Bond for recommending it to me. I highly recommend this resort for Varadero travellers. Thank you to all of the staff at Paradisus Varadero for making our stay so memorable!

Melia Las Americas: a few changes but still the place to go

service was the best we ever had maid services amazing , beach bar food great staff at your table with in minutes, golf bar food very good but golf bar can get very busy at times. Overall no complaints

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great week!

This was our first visit to Cuba and we were pleasantly surprised. The resort is beautiful. Our room was clean and in excellent condition. The bathroom was newly renovated. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beach was gorgeous. It is windy so fun waves to play in but not for you if you want calm water. The food was better than expected. Not really 5 star but enjoyable and lots of variety. Skip the snorkeling tour if the wind is up - the waves are too much and the current at the second  [... read more]stop is ridiculous. Saw a few tropical fish but nothing big to see.

Paradisus Varadero: Awesome

Cuba is a great place to go. Will definitely go again soon! The resort is beautiful even though it was affected by the hurricane. The people working there are super friendly and helpful. Loved our stay!

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great staff

The staff are amazing .. it s a bit dated but you can see them working on it to upgrade it , the buffet was not great but the pool snack bar was awesome and the staff could not do enough for you there . The bed are not very comfortable at all ... they are too hard, If there were issues the main desk tried to help but it was slow. we did get Locked out of the room because the mechanism to put your card in would not open the door . Melia Jardines del Rey: Big disappointment

This place was all hype. All the kayaks were broken and we were told they don't have anyone to fix them. Our window in our room was broken and stayed open the entire time and they couldn't fix it. The door handle on our sliding glass door broke and I had to ask for 2 days to get it fixed. Our closet door couldn't open and they never fixed it. The sofa was broken and it too 3 days to fix it. There was mould on the walls with the sink and on the curtains. We got our mini bar restocked only if we c [... read more]omplained to customer service so we stopped. If you weren't in the door to the buffet right away, the line ups were about an hour and the other food was gone. There was very little variety in the food. They constantly ran out of soft drinks at the bars. It was clear they were understaffed for the size of the resort. There were not enough pool or beach chairs. The people were generally friendly but expected at lot of tips for not a lot of service. And the worst was the outdoor night club every other night that blasted the music so loud our windows rattled and they started at 10pm sharp and went until 4:30 or 5am, depending on the night. Save your money and go to Mexico.

Sol Varadero Beach: A lot of fun

I went for my reading week with three of my friends. The service was excellent. The food wasn't great. We partied hard every night and only received a couple of respectful noise complaints. I defiantly would go again!

Sol Varadero Beach: Good resort

The beach is the best! You can walk for miles and the view was good. Resort was dated, rooms where clean. Staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating. Food was good with a reasonable selection.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great getaway!

We recently spent a week at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. We had some mixed feelings about it. Good points... the grounds were beautiful, the people friendly, entertainment was varied and very good. Very talented dancers and musicians. The resort is in a great setting. Spread out with 2 big pools in the center. Bad points... the music around the pool area was way too loud every day and there was no real way to get away from it. A “music free time” each day would be a good compromise. We did understand that Cuban food has a bad reputation and that the hurricane last fall created devastation to the island and its produce leaving limited fruit. This was a disappointment. I will admit that we can be fussy eaters anyway but when we talked to other couples who had been there several times before, they all said that they found the food not as good this year too. As for the drinks, they had quite a drink menu in the lobby bar but it would have been helpful had it been in English. It took a while to figure out what you were ordering. Some of the fruity drink flavourings were very artificial tasting. Almost bitter. We were also surprised at how windy it was. The wind blew day and night. Apparently that’s not uncommon for February. It kept it cool and bug free which was good. The beach is beautiful but once again the winds created extremely rough surf. Great for watching but we didn’t see a lot of people venturing into it to swim. The beach has a wide sandy area and then almost a sand “cliff” that you had to climb over to get to the waters edge. I’m assuming that this was another result of hurricane Ermas wrath. Overall we did have a great week. It’s not a big resort which was an attractive feature for us. If you are looking for a good place to relax and you keep your expectations of the food low, I’m sure you’d enjoy it as much as we did.

Memories Cayo Largo: Amazing beach and staff!

I went to Sol with a few of my friends for a week getaway and it did not disappoint! Amazing staff, night shows, and beach! Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing beach vacation with good food. Defiantly would consider going back next year!

Melia Buenavista: Great Staff ! Nice Resort! Very Chill Vibe !

This resort has lovely and helpful staff. The rooms are very large and the beds are very comfy. The outdoor shower is a fun touch ! Bar service is exceptional especially Lester !! If Joel is your Butler, then you are in great hands ! No rush to reserve beach chairs, lots of areas to hang out . Very windy every day, and lots of waves, not many snorkeling opportunities. Food is limited, but for the most part delicious. The vibe is VERY low key. Many older European travelers. Great  [... read more]place to go to just check out from life, read books, laze around and chill. Bus ride is 1 hour and 45 min from the airport. Would we go back? Probably.....

Sol Palmeras: Relaxing and educational

Sol Palmeros was a great fit for us to celebrate ourr 25th anniversary. The weather at the end of February was between 27-30 Celsius.The resort is older but clean and lovely. We enjoyed a pool acrobatics showed as well as a band with dancers who depicted the history of Cuba. We did several out trips including Matanzas, the town of Veradero and Havana. We flew with Cubana Air and landed at the Veradero airport and the crew was all Cuban and the plane was older but very Good. A great cultural experience!

Melia Jardines del Rey: AWESOME RESORT

Fist time travelling to Cuba. I was unsure where to go and where to stay. Thank you Trip Central for your recommendation. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and i would recommend Melia Jardines del Rey. The resort was top notch. The food was delicious, and the beach was 5 star*. Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Resort

This is one big resort. Rooms were great. Clean and spacious. The food was 31/2 out of 5 in our meger opinion. Staff griendly. 2 great big swim up pools. 9 restrants. Beautiful lobby bar. No problem getting drinks coffee ect. All in all very nice resort. Big beautiful beech lots places for shade at both beech and pool.

Melia Jardines del Rey: wonderful Resort

Everything was wonderful, the pools were clean and looked so good. the beach sand was beautiful, saw a little bit of garbage on the beach but all in all great. So relaxing, maybe more chairs, but great. first time at a resort and was very impressed. thank you for everything. Our room was always cleaned very good and very nicely presented every day we came back. Wonderful service, friendly and kind.

Hotel Vigia: Good Value for Price

Just got back from the resort Friday night. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our time there. The food was great considering a lot of places in Cuba aren't the best in that department. The weather was fantastic which made the BEAUTIFUL beach even better. Everyone who works at the resort are amazing people and work hard at what they do.
