Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Friends relaxing

This was my 14th time to cuba. This was best hotel i have stayed at Grounds great. Room great pool. Ocean. Entertainment best i have seen. In Cuba. Different every day. Food well can always find something to eat it is Cuba and they do the best with what they have. Would recommend this resort. Had great time Staff fantastic. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Festive and lively resort

We loved this resort for so many reasons! There were amazing bands playing almost every evening near the reception area and as well as in a private room near by. Also, at the beach and the pool area there were a lot of activities like games and dance classes animated by the staff. The food was ok, we preferred the food in the city of havana. But the price that we paid was absolutely worth it. There is also a snack bar near the pool that opens at night which is awesome when you get hungry. In most resorts you have to reserve in advance and sometimes you even have a limit to how many times you can go! The staff are super friendly and smile when you say hi. The rooms were fine too, they were clean and that’s what we hoped for. This is the first resort I’ve been to in cuba and I would definitely recommend this one if you’ve never been to cuba yet!!!

Starfish Varadero: Friendly Staff

This resort has beautifully kept grounds and has had many updates over the last couple of years that we have vacationed here. The staff are very friendly and treat you like one of there friends. This was my 4th time staying here and I would come back again. Did I mention it has one of the most beautiful beaches. Unfortunatly the chose of food has gone down which I think all the resorts are having trouble with at this time.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful Resort

Loved the resort, beautiful grounds, pool and beach. Rooms were big, clean and had comfortable beds and pillows. Food was very good. Staff was fantastic, always friendly and helpful. Would recommend to everyone and would definitely go back

Roc Barlovento: Charming and authentic

The staff was very friendly, smiling and helpful. Our chambermaid, Alina made a different towel sculpture everyday and she was very happy to have a conversation, as were all the staff. All staff was bilingual, even trilingual and professional. The grounds were beautiful, well maintained and clean. There is a lot of foliage at this resort, which is one of the reasons we chose it. The resort cats added that home away from away feeling. An extra charm we weren't expecting. Every night at 9:30 there was an enjoyable & professional dance/music show at the outdoor stage, which is covered by a roof. The room was clean and beds comfortable. The first night we were placed on the same side of the main road, 1 Ave., which was noisy in the night, even with the patio doors closed and the toilet didn't work well. We had no trouble moving to a different room the next day, on the 3rd floor, facing the back (towards the ocean). It was prefect! Some of the public washrooms could have been cleaner. They didn't always smell very good. The buffet was good at first. There was a good selection & we tried everything. But it was always the same thing. There were 2 suppers 'a la carte' included at the 2 different restaurants on the resort. Both offered an appetizer, a choice from 4 main courses and dessert. The Mexican restaurant also had a salad bar. The restaurant 'La Fusion', lacked atmosphere and my meal of shrimp & fish was far too salty. Desserts seemed to have been pre-packaged frozen cakes, puddings and ice cream. Nothing special or original. The location of the resort, within walking distance to the Artists market and downtown made it very practical. We took the little yellow taxi for just $10 pesos to the night hotspots and the Hop-on-Hop off bus finishes it's run just in front. After seeing how some of the other resorts are so far away from the action, I was very happy about this location. All in all it was the perfect resort for us. We were looking for charm and Cuban authenticity and we found it.

Playa Vista Azul: Great resort

The resort was great. A little larger than we liked but they had great staff and great drinks. The beaches were a bit further away but beautiful. Travel there was not good. No one from our group sat together . And red eye is never fun. Food was okay but Cuba is known for having mild food.

Barcelo Solymar: Some good and some very bad !

The resort needs more care from the management regarding some small details which make sometimes the differences between a great lace and a horrible one Because the good is already forgotten (great location and gorgeous beach) I will remember only the bad things. The smell in the kitchen, the cockroaches, the lack of food management (you should run at the first hour otherwise the risk to find only leftovers is big) the lack of towels. We need to tip hard the maid, otherwise, she just won:t chan [... read more]ge em. We are ok with tips (its Cuba) but we should tip for good service after not before. The beach towel was left from the previous guests and we did not know. After 3 day was a horrible smell on them. Nobody changes it. Very inconvenient and disgusting After the western guest left, the new wave was Russians and Latino, the overall quality drop. I guess is the lack of knowledge of what mean a 4-star hotel and people get used to being offered bad quality services. Anyhow the management stuff is super great, they will help if asked, and the general impression is ok (for the price), the nightly show is of 5-star international level - we will come back but with lower expectations.

Muthu Playa Varadero: rooms ground floor not safe

first day to this resort sunday noon till monday noon three plumpers to fix toilet. monday 11/30pm in bed heard sound --mans frame-- opening sliding door and removing chain from door ground floor room 1007 . made a loud sound and he took off, called front desk security can around but did nothing to fix door all night did not sleep, watching door for him etc to return. next day demanded new room now to room 1306 same building. manager took info but did nothing etc about it. next day we  [... read more]notice they put some one into room 1007 again o my foot prints in flower bed paint off the patio wall only at this location and they did nothing??? thursday smoke alarm going off in building notice from thursday night to sat: night alarm lights on ceiling units not on. they turn off power to them what if a fire ??? not a good setup no will not sent any one there sunwing rep: also did nothing took report way to go sunwing???

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good, but not a 5 star

The beaches and pools were fantastic, and the resort was generally quite quiet. The grounds were well maintained, and everything was clean. The food service was a bit of a problem. The main buffet had odd and inconsistent hours, and the spot that offered 24 hour food options was very, very limited with what it could provide and when. The rooms are advertised as 'all suites', but they are really just standard rooms with struggling plumbing and electrical.

Hotel Los Cactus: Never Grows Old

The peak season is Nov 15 to April 15th so my wife and I do not expect perfection while visiting at other times of year. During low season many employees are not working, consequently services suffer. Our visit October 24 th to Nov 8 was fun as usual and gave us an opportunity to renew our friendships with many staff members. The fact the hotel is fairly small suits us very well. The accommodations were good, not perfect but good. The food was to be as expected, plentiful but boring. The beach  [... read more]was perfect, the pool clean and the weather extremely hot. We look forward to 2 more visits over the winter. Our only concern was flying with Sunwing, once again booked an early morning flight at a premium, paid for it and 48hrs later the flight was changed to arrive late evening and after 2 am return to Toronto. Never again via Sunwing for us!!

Melia Marina Varadero: Best resort

Honestly the best resort I have ever stayed in cuba and I been there 6 times now. Great people. Great staff. Ok food. Great room. Great service. Great location. Great price Great drinks Great vip and level bonus. That says it all folks.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Cuba: Francophone meeting location

Typical Cuba: really nice and awesome beach, food is the big issue: only one buffet location, 3 restaurants a la carte and they are not fantastic, drinks: couldn't get any good cocktails, I would stick with beers and wine. Missing vegetables & fruits some days, orange juice was nowhere to be found, it is sad. Rooms were okay and clean. Miele café was popular and good place to grab a good cold or hot coffee. Resort is lacking of fun entertainment. Employees aren't as nice/friendly nor grateful f [... read more]or tips. Suggestion: go out to explore the city and perhaps eat out for at least one good meal during your stay! Lots of Quebec francophone tourists, even the Cubain speaks French everywhere.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful Resort. Disappointed by Butler service

Beautiful resort and perfect location. Nice sandy beach. Good food service, friendly staff DISAPPOINTED BY BUTLER SERVICE I think it is just a money grab, I have to call several time to get service. But overall Sunwing flight was good on time.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not a 5 star.

Overall, it’s a decent place, one of the best beaches we had seen,.... the grounds are good. However, when it comes to food and selection, we will rate it as 3.5. Overall,... it’s a 4 star, definitely not a 5.

Starfish Jibacoa: Nice resort on a nice beach

Snorkeling was excellent if you like depths to about 40ft. Lots of channels, overhangs and swim-thrus in the reef. Lots of nice coral and very many fish. Find the 2 cannons and anchors. Didn't bother with Scuba - I can explore more while snorkelling. They go from shore or with a catamaran or pedal boat. Lots of coconuts

Sol Palmeras: Never disappointed

Just got back from my fourth trip to Sol Palmeras, Varadero. I look forward to going back again next year in October. As long as I am able, this resort will be my Destiination. Little people need entertainment as well. There have been so many positive changes I have seen in the last four years. The buffet dining room is gorgeous.... All white with some black accents and natural wood dividers that are more decorative feature and not a wall The ice cream stand and the juice bar are facing each other and again all white with natural wood elements, seats and tables. Sol Palmeras has a beautiful beach.. It is so large! If you like your own space there is lots of room for you to be away from the crowd. Travel to Sol Palmeras once and you will keep coming back ...

Playa Vista Azul: Nice resort

Beautiful pool area with lots aof room, chairs and space. Set high on a cliff great view. A bit of a challendge to access thebeach as you have to walk over a sand dune and down a bit of a cliff. Beach nice, shares with Iberostar next door. Rooms nice, not smelly, àhowever lacks ammenties as advertised such as room service ( asked 3 people for a menu and never appeared. Advertises in room coffee makers but no coffee to be found EVEN when trying to buy some from the maids. No hot water 2 day [... read more]s, no face clothes 2 days. Advertises 5 resturants however only 1 open every night and a wait to get in. Leaves lots of empty tables for priviledge members. Staff very friendly and try to do their best with what they have. Entertainment was very good in the lobby every night. Worst staff ever in the coffee shop, always sitting down and on their phone. 7 types of drinks on menu but all taste the same. Buffett never changes lunch or supper.

Palma Real: Central location downtown Veradero

The location of this place is great; walking distance to a lot of night life. It's a 3-star...so you have been warned :-) 3-4 nights max is recommended at this place. I stayed here a full week once and it was a bit much. Also... I would recommend going during peak season, as opposed to off-season, as they close down a bunch of the amenities for "renovations" in the off-season. The lobby is always a fun place to hang out at night. You never know what type of people you are going to see hah.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Terrible

Beautiful beach beautiful pools but no activities no animation Terrible food in all the restaurants Rooms dirty and mattresses gery unconfortable Terrible smell all over the hotel Bad service people are rude Terrible drinks Only good thing is being joint with the Barcelo able to eat something at the snack bar and sometimes get a good drink at the lobby bar

Playa Vista Azul: 2nd time and worth every penny

Hotel rooms were well kept - Service at the Privilege was TOP notch... beach was gorgeous! Food was great. Drinks were great as well! The view over the water was one of the best I have seen and the location was close to the hotel and a quick can ride to Varadero
