This was our second trip here. First one was March 2020 when Covid was declared and now this one. Friendliness and service in the Buffets was not a memorable as our first visit. Grounds are beautiful. The rooms and interior spaces are tired and need some upgrades and sprucing up.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing resort!
This resort surpassed our expectations. We had tried to find a place that offered better food than a previous trip at a different location and the food was great. Lots of variety at the buffet and the reserved restaurants felt like we were eating in fine dining venues. The staff was always helpful and welcoming. The entertainment staff always had something going on and we’re very energetic and friendly. The resort itself is quite large and offers many different things to do. There are also troll[... read more]eys that take you around that come by within 5-10 mins anywhere in the resort. We will definitely be coming back with more friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: More than expected
This resort is well maintained, (Akumal) the grounds are impeccable, the staff courteous and attentive. The little shuttle carts run often during the day and often enough at night. There is access to food and drink 24/7. Snack bar is open from 11 pm to 5 am. The restaurants available were good and had something for everyone. We were only disappointed in one.
Pools close early (7pm) which was disappointing if you would like a late night dip. There are plenty of umbrellas on the beach and a[... read more]t the pool if you want shade. Lots of sun too! Fun activities and places to be quiet. Something for everyone.
I was impressed at check in when I walked up with a cane and the desk staff said there is no elevator. I said no problem. They said let me get you a room on the ground floor, you are currently on the second floor. I said I am not worried but they moved me around and got me on the first floor. This was all done by the front staff noticing my cane. I had said nothing!!! That is impressive.
The live bands at the bar were very talented. Drinks generous and premium liquor available.
We'd go back!!

Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Wonderful Resort / Amazing Vacation
This resort takes wonderful care of their guests, ensuring there stay and experience is second to none. Additionally, we experienced world class food and dining with lots of high-end food, with some fun options included (the Mercado). Rooms were very well appointed, with fluffy towels, soaps and toiletries, beautiful soft bedding and incredible pillows. There was even and aromatherapy option. Additionally, the rooms were very well maintained and clean. With the resort on the ocean there was a la[... read more]rge amount of Oceanview (even walkout) but if that is not to your likely, there are pool views or Tropical views. Still there wasn't a bad room to be had. Lastly, the staff, from the management to the ground keepers, everyone was friendly, happy to help and truly loved there work environment. Not to many place can say that anymore. We cannot wait to come back and hope to make this a multi-year destination.
Also, I would like to note, if you are looking for a value priced resort, this facility will not be for you. As it is 5 star it is priced as such, furthermore, as with many beaches on the Mayan Coast, there have become eroded and are note for swimming, but if you just want to soak up the sun, this is perfect.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Beautiful resort
Most beautiful building I have ever stayed in. Grounds are nice and you have access to all the other resorts in the complex - fun to wander around and see what they have (I made good use of the waterslides at the Lindo, and went to restaurants at the Del Mar/Beach and Maya as well as the coffee shops, ice cream and hamburger stands throughout the complex).
Staff are friendly and service was almost uniformly good.
Food was very good for an all-inclusive. We went to the Venetian (Italian),[... read more] Toni's (steaks), the Mexican/ceviche restaurant for lunch, and Haiku (Japanese). Portions were small at the Venetian and Haiku but the food was good. Also went to El Puerto (BBQ, which was decent) at the Beach/Del Mar and El Rancho (steaks - best meal all week) at the Maya. Nothing on the resort is open early so went to the Maya Star Café for a sandwich before some early excursions. Buffet was excellent. Tons of variety.
App is glitchy, couldn't use it for a few days as according to the staff it is affected by weather (?). This meant it was hard to view the menus. You can book reservations on the app but obviously can't if it isn't working so I used the concierge. Also need to use the concierge for reservations at other resorts. Ordering drinks on the app didn't work for me, drinks never came. Maps on the app can be confusing.
We had an entry-level "garden view" room in the main building and it was still very nice and large. Good housekeeping service with turndown, refilling the mini-bar was sometimes neglected.
Entertainment was good. Included things like traditional Mexican dances and mariachi, cover bands, violinist/pianist, etc. Not a lot of other activities on-resort; the other resorts in the complex are more active (e.g. all non-motorized watersports are located at an adjacent resort).
The gym is decent, crowding in the morning. Small but has a good collection of equipment. In poor weather you can also use the indoor hot tubs and pool. Wish the hot tub was hotter.
Pool area was nice with decent drink service and a swim-up bar. Didn't have a problem getting a spot even on the hottest day though might not be right by the pool. The beach was OK - smallish, lots of seaweed but that's a common issue in this area. Beach is very rocky and red flags the the entirety of our 7-night stay.
Overall, very nice resort, would recommend.

Riu Santa Fe: the best one I have ever stay
I have been in Los Cabos a few years ago. This hotel is over my expectation. Every thing is good Including food , cleanness, area, atmosphere, nice staff. the only thing I suggest is the room need a table and chair. The couch is too soft an low to sit on. I am sure I will come back when I come to Los Cabos again . I don't know other hotel will have this level or not.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: First time to Mexico
Stayed at hacienda side Arrived to some of our party no rooms however quickly clarified! Beautiful grounds! Beautiful clean pools!! Could use more lounge chairs by pool and beach ! fantastic, breakfast buffets at both the Crystal grand and Hacienda great/personable staff hacienda side! Always very accommodating and willing to please! both poolside and beach side, however, not happy with à la carts service(both sides) exceptionally slow, sometimes taking half an hour to 45 minutes to get water [... read more]and menu completely understaffed in the à la carts! surprisingly, Mexican had worse service and didn’t get meals that you ordered some of meals brought to you some they didn’t. we chose to go off grounds for some of our evening meals.French à la cart best service we hope the next time we go à la carts will be running much smoother, we also found when tipping housekeeping people that were refilling the fridges were taking the tips and housekeeping was not receiving some of the tips I often tip twice so that housekeeping would get some of the tip money so therefore we would be able to get things like washcloths. If you don’t tip you don’t get washcloths.
Overall would be back to the crystal grand Hacienda!!

Krystal Grand Los Cabos: Not Recommended
• Our flight was good and pretty much on time. Nothing special really while on-board, we upgraded to Rows 2 & 4 to give more leg room, but nothing else was special (no glass of bubbly like on Westjet when upgrading). Leaving from Calgary airport is always easy and not typically that busy so having Elite was not worth the money except for the extra leg room for my husband. Upon arrival in San Jose Del Cabo, to get onto the bus, the bus service didn’t have our name on their list, took a bit of ti[... read more]me for them to just say “get on that bus”, which took us to our resort (because of our late booking, maybe our names didn’t get put on the list), but all worked out fine.
• Check-in was pretty easy, our room was on the 6th floor facing the ocean – the room itself was quite old, but the beds were comfortable and the view was great. The mini fridge was not working but they replaced it. No chairs or small table on our little balcony, they also replaced it for us. If you used all the bottled water in the mini-fridge, you would be charged if ordering more. Our housekeeping staff were wonderful. Every morning we left them a cute pre-made thank you note (which we do on all our trips), along with a little chocolate bar and some pesos – so it appears they appreciate the little things. The 2nd last day we found a cockroach walking on our bedside table, we crushed it. But then the next morning there was another one walking on the floor. We didn’t say anything as we were leaving, but that was disappointing to see “bugs”.
• The Entertainment Team were not great, very little interaction with guests, and especially the kids who were very bored – not happy campers. We heard many negative comments from parents with kids on this. The Team were too laid-back, very lack lustre, and always late for the designated sports listed on the daily program. There were no “Shows” in the evening, nothing to do after having dinner, so that was disappointing.
• There were only 2 A-La-Carte Restaurants open each evening, plus the usual buffet. The other 2 restaurants were rotated every other day. You had to line up each morning by 9am to reserve your dinner times (either 6pm, 7pm, or 8pm), otherwise you could not get in. We ate at all 4 restaurants during our 7 days and the food was Good in our opinion. The Buffet was so-so, but not terrible.
• The Pools were not heated, very cold getting in so not many guests in the water. But, once you got in, your body got used to it.
• The Special Drinks made were not consistent, and not good. They did not have Kahlua, or Baileys, just a substitute and ran out of those liquors at times.
• The Coffee Shop was great, always a line-up, only 1 staff working throughout the day. They were charging $110 pesos for a little dish of Gelato in the coffee shop. That is not all inclusive.
• The beach was not a clean beach, lots of debris and garbage mixed in with the sand, not the safest for walking with bare feet or playing beach volleyball, etc. We didn’t see anyone attempting to clean the beach area by our resort.
• We spoke to many guests who experienced the same things as us above (some worse issues) and would not return to this resort in the future. If advertising All Inclusive, then they should not be charging extra for ice-cream, extra bottled water, have better Alcohol Brands, etc.

Royalton CHIC Cancun: Great resort!
This resort was amazing! The rooms and building itself were very nice and clean. The entertainment was fun and the food was amazing. The best part of the resort had to be the gorgeous beach. Also the location was great, close to convenience stores and other restaurant and bars/clubs only a 5 minute walk away. The airport is also only a 15 minute drive. The staff was very friendly and they go out of their way to help you.

Barcelo Huatulco: Nice resort
The resort is well maintained. The bartenders were always quick with a drink, but I'm pretty sure the alcohol is watered down. The food at the buffets was blah. Same things everyday. The Italian a la carte is amazing. We also tried the seafood and Mexican which were just okay. Be warned, a lot of the food is spicy!
This hotel met all of our expectations, we were offered an upgrade upon check in and ended up with an ocean view room. The resort itself is huge but well laid out. Food is incredible and staff are very friendly and willing to help always! Would def go back!!

Royalton CHIC Cancun: Great resort!
The resort is close to the airport, exceptionally clean and the service is amazing. The beach is beautiful with lots of chairs and shade if you want it. The servers at the beach are awesome. It is nice not having to go to the bar. A lifeguard is on duty and keeps a close eye on the swimmers. The grounds are well kept. The pool is great. The servers are attentive and like the beach it is really nice not having to go to the bar for drinks. However, it is a party atmosphere. The music starts around[... read more] 10am and continues all day. It is fairly loud. If you are looking for a quiet resort this is not it. My girlfriends and I didn't mind and enjoyed the music. The grill at the pool has delicious chicken, sausages, salads, rice and potatoes. The potatoes are so good!
The games and the activities around the pool in the afternoon are fun and very entertaining. The entertainment staff are amazing. The foam party is a lot of fun.
The rooms are large and clean with a balcony which is nice. Includes a mini-fridge. The shower is large with a rainfall showerhead which is a nice touch.
There are a number of restaurants to choose from. The buffet is great for breakfast and lunch. Lots of selection and the quality is very good.
The oriental restaurant is amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The steak house was good as well. The Italian restaurant wasn't great. No one liked their pasta dishes, but the salad bar and bread were good. The grill by the pool was delicious and the take-out pizza was good as well. The coffee shop was great for snacks and the coffee was amazing. The elevators are slow during busy times. I would definitely go back. Great vacation with my girlfriends!

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Riu Not What is Used To Be
Have been to numerous RIU Hotels in the past and have always been very pleased. The hotel itself is clean and well kept. That said, the service, food selection, food quality and entertainment are not what they once were.
My wife and I are in our 60s. When booking with Tripcentral, we specifically requested a quiet room. Upon our arrival, we were assigned a room beside a very loud ice maker next to elevators not far from hotel rotunda/entertainment stage. Also, the safe in the room did not[... read more] work.
After asking for a new room, we were told that Tripcentral did not provide RIU our request for a quiet room, the hotel was fully booked and that the best they could do would be to provide us another room late the next day. To switch rooms, we would have to have all of our belongings out of our room by 11.00am the next morning but couldn't check into our new room till 3pm. Not only would this mean having a gap of at least 3 hours with no room waiting around the hotel with all of our belongings it would basically tie-up / waste 1 entire day or our 7 day stay.
Only after escalating the matter to a RIU Manager were we finally upgraded to a room in a quieter section of the hotel. Unfortunately the air-conditioning in the new room did not work. A technician did show up with a ladder and took a couple of hours to fix the air conditioning unit which was located in the rooms ceiling.
We arrived at the hotel to check in in the early evening and by the time we changed rooms, had our air-conditioning fixed, etc. it was after midnight. This was a very stressful and irritating start to our holiday.
Overall, the food and service at the various restaurants was pretty good. We did notice that the selection, quality and service at the buffet was not up to what we experienced at past RIU resorts, The coffee was awful, selection of food was lacking and service was slow, even though my wife and I are generous tippers. Past RIU's used to have a person making fresh delicious omelets. This was not the case most mornings and when there was someone making omelets the eggs were scooped out of a big container of a pre-cracked egg mixture vs cracking open fresh eggs. The omelet station was somewhat dirty and the omelets were very disappointing.

Park Royal Cancun: Some good. Some bad.
Let's start with the good...location was ideal, across the street from La Isla mall. Also very close to the airport so a quick transfer shuttle. The beach is wonderful, lots of sand, and the waves and view from the resort was amazing. It's also a smaller resort so easy to get around. The family suite was also a great size and having two washrooms was very smart. Now onto the bad...the food at the buffet is nothing special. Quite bland and not alot of options for a family resort that should have [... read more]more kid friendly options. Waiting in long lines every morning to book at the ala carte restaurants also is less than ideal. One morning we waited over an hour only to be told they were all booked up. The nightly entertainment is limited and not very good as it happens in the lobby of the main hotel building. We travelled with a group, 4 rooms total and the AC didn't work in 2 of the 4 rooms. Also not very good, how small the pools are, both the adult only and the family pool. Minimal loungers at both, plus the beach.

Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort and Spa: Dream’s Cozumel
Beautiful beaches, well taken care of property, friendly staff that are happy, beautiful spa.
Dreams is the better property out of 3 resorts. Secrets and Sunscape were a little tired and need some updates.
The restaurants were okay, 2 Asian restaurants being best quality food out of the a la carte restaurants.
