The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Amazing resort

The rooms are amazing for families, lots of space and huge balconies. They provide all of the necessities from bottle warmers to monitors. The food is amazing and staff lovely. The resort was really full when we were there but the cleanliness was above expectations. The only downfall was that people staying there were obsessive about “reserving” their chairs. Placing a sandal or sunscreen on them at 7 am and then not returning until 2 pm. So if you go to get a seat at 9 am at the pool is  [... read more]impossible. Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Not What I Expected

To start, when we booked on the Sunwing page, it showed that a lobster dinner on the beach was included and when I asked about it when we arrived the rep at the Hideaway office said it was not available. So, I spoke with my Sunwing rep and April from Tripcentral and after an hour of back and forth I was given 1 lobster tail that we had to split between the 2 of us at one of our dinners, not what I expected. This is false advertising and has to be stopped. The food was average and the our orders were missed up numerous times, drinks were watered down and people we met on site complained about it. The beach was well maintained but was constantly hassled by vendors. Our room was on the mangroves side and had to keep our doors closed due to the smell and the sinks would not drain properly. I would not recommend this resort and it is not a 5 star.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Still a good resort

I would rate this a 4.5 star overall. Food for the most part was great. They changed over the Mediterranean restaurant to Indian Restaurant called Raj. That is a great choice that is seldom seen and resorts and the food was amazing. Far better than the previous one. I like the fact that no reservations required for a la cartes unless you book the Tepanyaki Cook Table. Disappointing that they are no longer serving shrimp at the main buffet. The rooms and grounds are starting to show signs o [... read more]f aging but are maintained very well. Disappointing that beach was unusable due to jellyfish.

it starts with the people, and upon our arrival, which was a few hours before our rooms were to be available, they already were. Clean and sparkling, with a stocked bar frig, staff, talking and sharing, brought us to our rooms. It did not end there. Pleasant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we had an enjoyable stay. The food was great and the Friday night meal on the beach was fantastic. The amount of work that the staff had to do for events like that, for us, is truly amazing. Riu Palace Mexico: Beautiful Resort

The hotel was lovely but when we arrived there was three adults sharing a room and we were given a king size bed. As it was late we waited until the next morning went to the front desk to ask for a different room. They gave us a room with a pull out couch that was just a foam mattress that would have been suitable for a child. We asked if they could bring in another bed in to the room. They said no but put a small pull out mattress on top of the sofa where I slept for the next 10 nights. We ne [... read more]ver received a discount for the third person in the room ( I have in other hotels before) and feel this wasn’t a proper way to treat the situation. The hotel staff at the restaurants, bars, ect where great and overall would have been a perfect vacation had they just given us another bed. Thank you.

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Great little resort

Nice smaller size resort. If you are looking for quieter than average resort with decent food, great service, very clean, and the rooms were great. We had a room close the snack bar that was open late but did not hear any noise after hours.

Riu Tequila: Great place for kids

Our hotel room was clean. The food was great. Our 2 and 4 year old kids did not get sick from the food. The staff was very helpful and hospitable. I would book here again. Staff was very accommodating.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Great resort

Beautiful resort, grounds and the beach. Rooms are large and have beautiful ocean views, but there were some small maintenance issues - sliding door to the balcony was very hard to open, tv wasn’t working very well, shower was turning cold to hot within seconds. The food was good at the buffet, and there are four great restaurants. Fantastic yoga studio with great instructors and a gorgeous ocean view.

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Great value

We have just returned from a very nice week at the Iberostar. We are very happy with our vacation. Reception was very smooth and friendly. Check out as well. Rooms are exceptionally clean with comfortable beds and nice showers. Each room has a balcony. All rooms are non smoking including the balcony. Food at the buffet was above average and the a la carte’s were solid. The beach is busy but beautiful. The nightly shows were exciting and seemed to be enjoyed be everyone. There is a small natural jungle section located in the centre of the property that features lots of wildlife and plant life. It was a nice easy walk thru. Located a short cab ride from the Center of Playa del Carmen, it was located in a gated area, that you could safely walk around outside of the resort. A very solid resort at a very comfortable price.

The beach was really choppy and difficult to swim in. The a la carte wasn’t that great. The buffers are better. The service was good. The night entertainment could be better as the disco was kind of dead at night

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: beautiful resort with something for everyone

My husband and I came to this resort with our entire family which has been a dream of mine from when we got married 40 plus years ago. There were 10 of us and ranged in age from 4 to 67. The kids were on the go from the minute we stepped onto the grounds. The 2 youngest particularly loved star camp and never wanted to leave...….the staff were incredible! The pools were great, the water temperature perfect! The swim up bar with the waterfall overhead pretty and fun. The wave pool a huge delight! The activities offered were fun and the staff very cool! Javi, Carolina and others were extraordinary and so upbeat (I wish I could recall all of their names) The servers in the restaurant the best. Very attentive and fast! All staff very polite and smiling! I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. I would not hesitate to return to this resort...…..it's beautiful, functional and most of all fun. The perfect vacation!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: fabulous vacation resort

This resort was amazing! Something for all! The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. The peacocks and coati's were something to see (and the kids loved them) Everything from the restaurants to the pools to the evening entertainment was amazing and well done. Probably though the best thing about the resort was the staff and how they made you feel. I wish I could recall all their names. the young ones spent some time at the star club and those folks were wonderful. In fact the 6 ye [... read more]ar old wanted to be there everyday! Normally when we travel we take an excursion or two. We did not this time as everything we needed was right at the resort.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Sandos Eco Resort

The maintenance of the property is beyond expectation; the grounds in particular are beautifully maintained. The house keeping staff go out of their way to make the rooms stay clean and comfortable. The rooms (room 4505) and other rooms in the area smell terribly musty. I wonder if air ventilation could be added as the mustiness is hard on people with respiratory issues. I had asked to be place in the newer part of the rooms but ended in the oldest and most removed part from the amenities,  [... read more]so it took a good walk every day, several times a day to go to and from the beach. We had chosen a place on the beach expecting to have to trek less.

The Reef Coco Beach: Great small resort

The staff were great at this hotel, very friendly and hard working. The only thing that was a negative was after we checked in the clerk said I will get someone to help you to your room. The staff member came over to assist us and it turned into a timeshare talk. We told her we were not interested and that was fine. The hotel is at the end of 5th avenue so you can walk easy to the shops and restaurants but are not in the middle of the craziness. The food was really good as well. Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Fun and Relaxing

We stayed for a week in February and enjoyed our time very much. We booked in a adults only section and really loved the adults pool and the beach club. The pool and beach for adults only are at opposites end of the resort and took about 6 minutes to walk from one to the other. The food I would say is a little better than ok. Some items are amazing and some are just so so however that really is a very individual thing. Our room was always cleaned and the fridge filled every day. It was a basic room but did the job however our beds felt like sleeping on a rock bed. We did not ask to move because the monkeys came to our balcony almost everyday. I loved hanging out a the Adults Beach club and they provide lite snacks all day. I was also able to snorkel off the beach and see some fun fish. Water shoes are a must at this resort. The beach is sandy but the water is very rocky. We would return as we did not get to see and do everything we wanted to and had amazing service.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Sandos Playacara

A couple of hiccups. The wifi was difficult to set up until the resort “reset the system”. Several calls to Guest Services were useless so i went to see them and they couldn’t connect either. Several guests were standing around with the same issue, so it was not my general ineptitude with all things high tech. Secondly the room smelled like a swamp when we arrived. The room should be aired out 24 hours before a guest arrives. The room and resort were quite fine and the staff were very nice. The food was mediocre but there was lots available . We are not “foodies” by any means. Catalonia Riviera Maya: A week at Catalonia Riviera Maya

A solid trip; great food (minus no ground beef tacos) friendly staff, clean pools, great animation staff (shout out to Migel) well kept grounds and a fairly decent beach. This is a decent 4 star hotel that was worth the price paid. Would recommend! Note to management : need more sour cream, lack of beef burritos / tacos was a disappointment, ketchup sub par, overhearing in the theatre/bar & surrounding area - it gets hot!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Just What The Doctor Ordered!

Hotel resort is lush, tropical, and pretty peaceful. Highly dense foliage everywhere with nice touches throughout - special cocktails; infused water; excellent activities crew; varied nightly entertainment; excellent service everywhere; high class service at a la carte restaurants. Pretty snorkeling right on beach. Loved our week!!

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Fantastic Resort

Loved this resort from start to finish. They truly treat you like Royalty, as first timers in Mexico we felt safe and welcome. From the airport shuttle to check in and check out the Royalton was very informative and make you feel at home. Great food with an abundance of variety. The entertainment was always top notch and the vibe team during the day kept you active and having a great time. The rooms were so comfortable and beds were great. Outdoor Jacuzzi terrace was great for mornings and eveni [... read more]ngs. The beaches were white sand with little to no sea weed. All in all, this was a great resort and would rate it absolutely 10/10. Will be returning on our next vacation!

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Best Resort Ever

This resort was absolutely stunning! There is so much to do and everything is done so well. The food was also amazing. They even had lots of Gluten Free foods. The staff members were all very friendly and did everything in their power to make sure everything was to our likings. Not great for older people, as some of the activities are quite extreme. Would definitely go back.
