Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: perfect resort

Fantastic resort, service was exceptional, food was amazing ... Not a complaint all!! Rooms were always clean and staff all were willing to go out of their way. Jamaicans really know how to take care of vacationers! Polite and helpful. And, they all looked very professional in their uniforms from the kitchen to the security. We felt safe and very welcome!

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Good resort

The hotel was very good, the variety of food was excellent. The only problem - there is no beach and no place to swim in the sea. That was a huge disappointment to me. I don't think I will come back because of that reason.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great Family Vacation

I traveled here last week with my wife and 2 daughters in their 20's. We loved the resort and food was great! Since we stayed at the luxury resort, we had access to all restaurants. There was a ton to choose from, however book all these on your first day as they fill up fast. The buffet was very good as well. The pool was clean, warm and lots of open seats. The beach however was not as nice as expected but decent. The rocky shore line and limited area to swim in was unexpected and unlike other [... read more] beaches we have visited in the area. Variety of drinks was amazing! However the lobby bar closes early and the 24 hour bar was too out of the way to visit late at night.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: not my ideal vacation very disappointing

The staff at the hotel was good helpful and friendly, however we had issues with the room, and the beach was a mess the whole time we were there, the first room was in disrepair, shower door off it's hinges and TV not working, also balcony was beside a very loud air conditioner. No handles on the outside of the sliding doors, so you needed to keep them open in order to get back in. This allowed the insects into the room at night. TV also did not work, and took four attempts at services calls to correct , we arrived on the Friday and finally had some resolutions by Wednesday, we left on the Friday to come home. Would not recommend this resort to friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Awesome Trip

Snorkeling on the beach was awesome couldn't ask for better the beach was also in walking distance. Pool looked nice didn't use it once due to the snorkeling. Buffet had something for everyone and the staff was great. Italian restaurant had the best steak tenderloin I ever had. Stayed in the room with the ocean view the balcony was nice to sit on at night where you could watch all the activities which were shut down at 11. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Beautiful resort

The grounds were beautiful it was very clean and everything was emaculate ,they were very quick to help in every request . The entertainment during the day could have been a little more upbeat and a little more interaction with the guests . The nightly entertainment was a little to repetitive always the same music for the kids show and the adult shows could have been more elaborate and entertaining the beach party was cancelled and then had an audience interaction show that wasn't very good . The pools needed more attention to the cleaning procedures ,often seen very dirty looking so went to the ocean . All in all was a great holiday just didn't enjoy the long bus ride to the resort .

We have travelled to other Jamaican resorts in the past and find that the value and amenities this resort offers always exceed our expectations. We have stayed on the Grand side 3 times prior and this was our first time on the luxury side and we were not disappointed.

This is not my first trip to Jamaica. But first time at this particular resort. It is HUGE! Beach was my least fav part about the place. But it is totally somewhere I would take my kids. They have so many things offered for families with children it made me miss mine even more!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: A Great Place for a Honeymoon

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon vacation at the Sian Ka'an from May 1st to May 15th. Our check in was very quick and having requested a quiet, and private room, we received what we asked for, a penthouse suite in building 17. It's at the very far end of the resort behind the activity pool so there is a nice walk back to the main lobby and restaurants. Most of the rooms seem to be quite private and we probably could have taken a room a little closer to the lobby but we have no complaints. Our room was very large with a hot tub and lounge chairs and we enjoyed being up there in the evening watching the stars. The resort has 4 pools. Three of them are close to the Cenote 24 hour snack bar where you can get a delicious lunch, buffet style. The other pool is a whirlpool with a sushi bar next to it. We didn't spend much time at the pools during our stay since the weather was very hot with little breeze. The beach was much nicer with a cooling breeze always coming off the ocean. We tried many of the restaurants since Sian Ka'an guests have all inclusive privileges at all the other resorts as well, the Coba, Akumal and Tulum. The food was very good at every restaurant. We are active people so we were off the resort for most of each day, only to return in the evening for dinner or to take a shuttle to a restaurant at another resort. We alternated our days by taking an excursion one day and relaxing at the beach the next day. There are many great excursions you can take. Since it is an adults only resort it is generally very quiet except at the activity pool and the lobby where there is entertainment in the evening. We never stayed for the entertainment but returned to our room after dinner so we could go to sleep early and get up early to make the most of the day. The majority of guests appeared to be in their 40's right up to people in their 80's with a handful of younger couples in their 20's and 30's. There were many Canadians as well as people from the UK and some Americans. I have to say that overall the service is outstanding at this resort, very respectful, friendly and hard working. They really do go out of their way to please their guests. Since it was our honeymoon we had a private dinner on the beach arranged for us. We really enjoyed it and we're treated superbly. We found this hotel to be a first rate location for a romantic vacation. You should be aware that this resort is not directly on the beach but a 10 shuttle drive will get you there easily. We really are beach bums though so we are not sure if we would return to this resort in the future. We are not ones to be sitting around the pool every day. Our next resort will probably be smaller with a room close to the beach but don't let that deter you. If you are looking for a beautiful resort with lush vegetation with an ambiance of elegance and style then you can't go wrong with the Sian Ka'an. Pros 1. Service in the restaurants, bars and drivers and excursion staff as well as house keeping. 2. Food in all restaurants. 3. Beauty of the resort - lush vegetation, colourful birds and wildlife. 4. Room 5. Weather - Sunny and hot 12 days in a row with little rain except for the last 3 days with only periodic downpours but still lots of sun. 6. Excursions - too many to count - lots to choose from. 7. Shuttle Service to the beach and other resorts - excellent with very little wait time. Cons 1. Concierge - hit and miss. We like to have coffee in the morning in our room. They took our coffee cups after the first morning and never replaced them after asking them to do so several times. Finally we just grabbed some from the lobby. Sugar and coffee mate never replaced. Had to ask for it. My wife likes cream in her coffee and they had none even in the restaurants, only milk. We requested the honeymoon package and we didn't get it until two days after we got there. Not sure what happened. 2. Butler - non existent. We never met him although we did ask to have the hot tub ready a couple of evenings and it was. 3. Beach - the sand portion is beautiful with white powdery sand and it's long and wide. The incredible amount of seaweed though spoiled it. They work all day trying to remove it but it still comes in. The whole length of the beach had piles at least 2 - 3 feet high. By the second week it seemed somewhat better but swimming in the water you will find seaweed floating everywhere while you swim so I have to say it was the worst beach I've seen because of the seaweed but it would be beautiful if there wasn't any, or very little seaweed. 4. Sian Ka'an Adults Only Beach - always crowded but we could always find a palapa but not in the location we would prefer. There's supposed to be waiter service on the beach. We would be served maybe once in the morning when we first got there but the waiter would never come back for the rest of the day. Not good. Also there was no place to get lunch. There was a snack bar close by that was only open for 1 hour from 1 pm to 2 pm. so if you missed it you were out of luck. Akumal Adults Only beach was much better, quieter, easier to get a palapa and a nice infinity pool to swim in that was more refreshing than any other pool that we found. Great beach waiter service compared to Sian Ka'an beach. Very good at coming back regularly to take drink orders. 5. Pool Chair Availability - Almost non existent at Sian Ka'an pools unless you get up real early to get a chair. We gave up on the pools except for a quick swim.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: 40th Birthday

Clean, great food, welcoming staff. I had a blast! Entertainment staff kept the party going! Shows in the theatre we’re awesome! Great place for families and adults. Definitely going back ASAP! Huge resort with lots to do, even in a budget.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Blue April 30 2018 – May 14, 2018

This is our second time we have been to Ambar Blue and it was just as amazing the second time around as it was the first. The people here are really great and work super hard for you to enjoy your vacation. I won’t go into too much details as many others have explained what the place looks like, what to expect and how good the food is. While it’s true the place is not perfect and there will be some issues, it’s the way the staff handles it and fixes the issues ASAP. For instance we had  [... read more]issues, one with our air conditioner in our room. We spoke to our butler Padro and within 30 minutes a technician was there to try and fix it, unfortunately his efforts didn’t work so we spoke with our Air TransAt rep Gabriel who took us over to the manager right away and explained our problem. Within no time the manager working with Gabriel had us in our new room with very good air conditioning. I’m not one who thinks highly of travel reps as we have had our fair share of very bad and useless ones, but Gabriel was a no non sense type guy who took our concerns seriously and was extremely helpful. Air TransAt should be very happy with employees such as Gabriel. Our second issue was when we opened our safe my tablet was gone, we looked everywhere for it but couldn’t find it. So we went down to customer service where we spoke to a very helpful young man named Joan. He walked us through the paper work and then called security a man named Ramon , together we all went to the room. Now I found this very interesting as both gentlemen asked for permission before coming into the room, they took pictures of the door and swipe lock and then again asked for permission to look into the safe. After a few minutes Ramon produced my tablet. I was shocked and couldn’t figure out how he found it when we couldn’t. What had happened was as we got stuff out the night before we must have moved the tablet on it’s side, now being in a black case against the side wall of the safe which is also black made it almost invisible. We were so happy at getting it back and apologised to both men for not seeing it, but instead of being ticked at us they were super understanding and telling us not to worry as it wasn’t the first time this had happened. Both men were very professional. Other people like Carlos and Michelly at the lobby bar went out of their way to look after us and put a smile on our faces. Carlos is quite the bartender with his flipping of bottles and glasses, he was always in a good mood and quick with jokes. On the beach they have an issue with sea weed but every day you see guys there from first thing in the morning to late in the afternoon raking and taking the sea weed away. These guys work so hard to ensure we have a nice beach to walk along. There are so many others that also helped make our vacation a wonderful time, I just can’t remember their names. I had read in other reviews of how the mini bar was never stocked regularly or properly, this was definitely NOT the case with us, our maid was amazing and kept the room very clean and ensured our mini bar was stocked regularly. She even gave us doubles of some spirits without our asking. Because the property is so big they have trolleys running all the time and even have carts available to take you to where you want to go, just ask the bell boys and they are more than willing to take you where you want to go, kind of a personal taxi ride. All in all this is an excellent property and a good deal for the money, we will certainly be going back as it is very quickly becoming one of our favorite places to go in the DR. Quick tip: if you need to exchange money to get more ones, don’t bother with the front desk go to the bell boys as they have pockets full of ones and are more than willing to exchange money with you.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great Vacation

The resort is about 1.5 hours from the airport. The resort was beautiful, food was great. We tried several a la carte restaurants, Fruitas del Mar, Le Gourmet and Mexican (at Tulum) and they were all excellent. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have what you need/want. Always saying hello with a smile. We went to the dinner and show for Feista at the Hacienda and it was excellent. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing resort!

Resort is very busy, 100% occupancy. They didn't have a room with king bed. Had to take a room with 2 double beds. Offered to move me to a room with king bed when available (3 days). Other than that the place has been amazing. Food is good. Staff are wonderful. Resort is cool and breezy. Great view of the water. The complex is huge with plenty to do.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

We stayed at Bahia Principe Tulum May 7th to the 14th. All in all we had a great vacation, however it wasn’t to our expectations. I’ll break it down into sections for you. Beach: The beach was beautiful, the maintenance guys works extremely hard all hour of day and night to try and maintaine the seaweed issue, however no fault to the resort but the beach was un-swimable. The seaweed was meters deep and as quickly as it was being removed, more was coming in. The unfortunate problem wa [... read more]s where they were housing the seaweed caused an amazing disgusting smell around the pool area where the dolphins are. Dolphins on resort: I have to say I had/have a huge issue with the environment these dolphins are living in, its an old small pool which isn’t enough space for them to naturally be happy. The resort really pushes the dolphin swim which seemed to be more of a show an tell. I couldn’t in my right mind support the exhibit, however the kids wanted to watch the show and I reluctantly agreed. To my surprise, the dolphins appeared to be very healthy (in my non professional opinion) their colour was beautiful, temperment was happy and over all treatment from trainers was extremely gentle. Food: Well I am not a picky eater by any means, and I enjoy trying new things. I have to admit the food at this resort was particularly disappointing. I feel they needed to offer more fresh fish/meat/poultry gril stations instead of everything being precooked and placed in warmers. The selection in the buffet was less then appealing, and always empty treys. A la carts: Good luck booking them, we were really hoping to secure 3 reservations and unfortunately we were unable to get any. I’m not sure what the process is to reserving prior to arriving at the resort, but if you wait until you arrive be prepared to eat at the buffets. Very disappointed with this factor Drinks: Never had any consistency, you could order the same drink from the same server or multiple servers and it was never the same. The over poor alcohol way too much (I’m sure its okay for some) however, they should over upon consumer request. Tulum/Coba/Akumal: The resort us huge, having three resort linked together. Tulum is definitely the PARTY resort, if your travelling with children I would recommend Coba as it is definitely more family oriented but still offering plenty of entertainment for all ages. (The buffet was also much better at Coba then Tulum) To my understanding Tulum is the oldest resort out of the three and is definitely noticeable. Akumal is privat club and absolutely stunning, if you have the $$$ I would go here. Coba, is more updated then Tulum and the staff seem friendlier. Entertainment: All entertainment guys were awesome, however you can tell they are over worked. By the evening entertainement you had to wonder if they had slept. They are amazing talented members of the team, I felt bad for them more then anything as they must be doing 15 - 16 hour days easily. Pools: All good, well maintained. Nothing really to review here, all was good. Rooms: We stayed in Tulum the rooms where small, smelt very muggy which I’m sure is to do with the environment. There is a dresser in each room with 3 drawers, so I wouldn’t over pack unless you want to live out of your suitcase for the week. There was a closet there from most clothes to be hanged however travelling as a family space was very limited. Staff: I have to say I was shocked with the staff, apart from a selected few (Luis serving staff at buffet, Romario mini bar) everyone came across miserable. They didn’t care to talk to you, especially omlet station it wouldn’t hurt to crack a smile on occasion, I felt giving her my order was a huge inconvenience. We normally tip very well, and I have to say I wasn’t encourage to do it because of their attitude Excursion: We did the Tulum ruins / Xel-Ha I would highly recommend both these excursions, we did them both on the same day and booked them thru West Jet. Absolutely amazing expierence, and a must do!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: AMAZING RESORT

The whole experience at Luxury Grand Bahia Principe Ambar Blue was fantastic. The people working there were all very friendly. The entertainment was great but it should have been until a later time. The food was amazing. The pool and beach were beautiful! Transportation to and from different resorts were very quick. I would definitely go back again.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Perfect Vacation

The entire trip from Leaving Edmonton to arriving back seven days later went perfectly. We have absolutely no complaints and would definitely book with Tripcentral and Air Transat again. Great vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Amazing family vacation

Perfect vacation. The food, pool, beach and entertainment crew were awesome. I can’t wait to go back. We had an amazing experience at the grand Bahia principe Jamaica. A special shout out to Malik and Kevin from the entertainment crew. You guys made our stay that much more special.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: RESORT THAT CATERS TO ALL!

This was our second time back to Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. First time we stayed at The Ambar (back then it was only one Ambar) was amazing we tended to stay to that resort only. But this trip we stayed at Esmeralda (because our excellent agent made us aware that Ambar is under construction). The Esmeralda was perfect for us. It is a smaller portion of the entire complex that allows you to have all the privacy of 2 pools and a smaller adult pool, with 2 large buffets and 3 specialty restaur [... read more]ants. All the buildings are a short walk to the pools or the beach as this resort is very close to the beach. The food was great especially at Los Geranios buffet, nicer seating & tables, presentation and hotness of food. Service by staff everywhere was top notch. Very friendly people from bar staff to waitresses to maid staff. Shout out to Josephina, she is the best waitress, very friendly and remembered your drinks. OLA JOSEPHINA! Brazilian restaurant was my favorite. The nice thing was you can go to any of the other 6 resorts except Fantasia for anything, specialty restaurants except buffet, you must eat at your own resorts buffet. Do yourself a favour and do a walk or tram ride around the entire 6 resorts on your first or second day to see how much stuff is available to you. The only negatives I will say is some of the rooms are tired and need a refresher, painting and some cracks filled. We were told it is coming after the Ambar renovation. Also the pool bar closest t the beach is understaffed as it took quite a while to get served all week. Overall you cannot go wrong with this resort, well worth the money.
